The location is perfect. It's just minutes from downtown Fredericksburg, but far enough out that you can unwind in peace and quiet, under an absolutely spectacular night sky! I booked Miss Lottie for myself for a solo trip. My retired mother decided to join me. So, I tried to upgrade to a larger trailer. Even though I booked well in advance (at least two weeks), when I tried to secure a larger space, I was informed that no changes could be made inside the 30-day window before my check-in date. Also, no refunds either. So, Mom and I shared the small trailer and made the best of it. But it would have been better to have the ability to move our reservation, especially if other trailers were available. Another reason I dropped a star is that we were not able to take a hot shower during our entire three-night stay. The property manager tried to fix the issue, but the water never got warmer than barely lukewarm. Since it was October and cool in the mornings and evenings, this was disappointing and very inconvenient. Furthermore, the showers are outside and I could not stand under cool water while being exposed to cool air, shivering to get clean. Besides those two grievances, we enjoyed our stay in the spotless, beautiful surroundings.

They have the absolute sweetest staff you could ask for. Everyone was so welcoming and accommodating. We were upgraded to a Lakeside/Poolside room and it was just perfect for the kids. The weather was surprisingly warm for January so we most definitely used the jacuzzi and pool. Everything was so clean and tranquil. Just what we needed. The property is a 2 min walk to Main Street and next door to the only Lakeside Chili's in the US, score! The relaxing views of the water could found at every turn and who's going to complain about that?! Not me! You approach the resort by dirt roads, but they are well maintained and no problem for our sedan. The Tesla nav system was accurate. We had no problems getting there and back. Kelly and Brian are excellent hosts. Brian can regale you with many anecdotes from Central Texas history, most of which I had not heard before, even though we've lived in the Lone Star State for 38 years. Our room was quiet, cool, and comfortable. The lobby is also quiet and is a great place to sit and read. There are two very sweet dogs that have the run of the place. We had a lot of fun interacting with them. You can walk the grounds and along the dirt roads with nearly zero traffic. I do recommend sturdy hiking boots, as cockleburrs are plentiful. There are also venomous snakes in this area, although we did not see any. Better safe than sorry. We will certainly return. The room had scratches on most of the bathroom cabinets. The property gives you the wifi information but you have to buy the wifi for $6.99 a night which had me completely mind blown as this is my first time staying at a Wyndom property for the first time this put a really bad taste in my mouth for my next stay and almost a bit nervous because if this is the nicees room on property why am I being asked also to do the dishes collect all the trash. My wife and I are clean people, and we don't mind, but it's vacation, and we look forward to honestly just leaving at checkout and making sure we have our chargers and other belongings. On the positive side, the pictures hanging in the room were really pretty and reminded you of other native Texas things, like flowers, cowhide-print chairs, and other things of that country sort. On the other downside, the TV offers Chromecast. Still, you really get to connect your phone to act like the remote and not actually cast or AirPlay, my own shows had I known that prior, I would have packed an HDMI cord, USB to USB-C converter, my IPAD or MacBook, and an extra charger (are you starting to see the small frustrations?) to ensure this really would be a comfortable get away trip. Lastly, the fireplace in the unit didn't work properly. Considering the overly worn remote, I should have known that the fireplace wasn't going to blow any heat. And another thing, the deadbolt to the room did not work, leaving the room semi-secured. Overall having wifi is nice but as a Wyndom member paying is not nice. Having to start the dishwasher and take our or collect trash not nice. Having a place to stay while I take a weekend trip was nice. The dead bolt not working not nice. Fire pit or fire place not saying it's not a real fire place not nice. Having a full kitchen was really nice as well. The building sits on a bluff overlooking the river valley, and the view from the balcony outside our room was spectacular both day and night. The interior of the hotel is elegant, especially the hallways. Our room was very quiet, with comfortable beds and pillows. It featured a safe, and a freezer element in the mini-frig-- always welcome since we use dry ice, and need to refreeze it overnight. The breakfast fare was standard, but having the hot dishes served was another nice touch. The crowning feature is a beautiful outdoor pool overlooking the valley. Curiously, the hot tub is situated indoors. One can also take advantage of a BBQ grill at bluff's edge, with enough seating scattered around for those who want to settle in and admire the sunset. From now on, this will be our hotel of choice when staying in the Hill Country. We recommend it highly.

We really enjoyed the pool and the hot tub as well as the outdoor cooking area. The only downfall to this cabin would be the stove. It's a really cute vintage style stove but unfortunately the electric stove didn't function as it should have making meals a bit tough to make. The TV in the Master bedroom we could not get it to access any channels. That part really wasn't a big deal because we did have our fire stick that we connected to the Living Room television for movie night. The kids really enjoyed the loft area with the pool table and all of the open style sleeping arrangements while the adults enjoyed their privacy in the 5 bedrooms. We spent two of those days down by the lake enjoying all of the amenities including the water trampoline and the paid ones like paddle boarding and the pontoon boat. Every single one of us agreed that we really enjoyed this family vacation. 3 of us are joining another group for memorial day weekend in a few weeks and the rest of us are all planning on coming back next summer. Highly recommend this location for large groups, small groups. I completely forgot to mention, if you are out on a boat make sure you have lifejackets for everyone, this place is patrolled heavily and yes they do ask for fishing license as well. You can buy a fishing license at H-E-B nearby. My son really enjoyed fishing one of the days that we were there. This year really be on everyone's list to visit!

I'm just surprised it wasn't packed!
