We felt very at home. Denise, the property manager, lives right next door and was super sweet and helpful. Oh, and Castell is a cute small town. Poking around the historic church, school house, and cemetery was fun.

There is plenty to do if you spend your days at Skye, but town isn't far away if you want to head out. Yes... there may be burrs, a little dirt... some creepy crawlies... wildlife... but this an outdoor "glamping" experience. We will return!

Sky Texas Hill Country Resort was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we booked to the moment we checked out every employee was SPECTACULAR! Always friendly smiles and excellent hospitality. The resort is beautifully nestled amidst the rolling hills, providing breathtaking views from every angle. The accommodations were top-notch; we purchased two cabins, and they were spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated with a touch of rustic charm. I especially loved the back porches where I could sip my morning coffee/tea (all provided in cabin) while admiring the stunning landscape and one of three ponds. The resort offers a variety of activities to keep guests entertained. We enjoyed renting the electric cart to tour the 250-acre well-maintained trails. For those seeking relaxation, this place is the perfect place! They have a sparking pool, games and other activities listed on the website and in office to keep everyone entertained. Family and pet friendly. There's a small menu you can order from their bistro as well as a general store with snacks and other items. The staff were knowledgeable and attentive, ensuring a delightful experience. They offer three ways to stay: RV, Cabin, & Nature pod. We stayed in two of their cabins. It has a queen size bed with two twin beds located upstairs in the loft. Full size refrigerator, stove/oven, stackable washer/dryer, Keurig, shower, toaster, all utensils cups etc. outside is a fire pit and picnic table. Three ac units and fan to keep the cabins cool. Fast Wi-Fi, smart tv, and all things needed for a comfortable stay. Before we left, we toured the nature pods, and they were gorgeous! So, we booked a stay in one for next month! They have exotic animals on their preserve that can be seen throughout the stay. I highly suggest renting one of their electric carts to explore. Overall, Sky Texas Hill Country Resort is a perfect getaway for anyone looking to unwind and soak in nature's beauty. The bed was nice and cozy and the views were great. We spent the days at the lake floating by the beach and listening to music. The evenings we would grill or go to the amazing restaurant Krab Kings and then night cap at the pool. I couldnt believe the amount of stars that were out. It was just perfect. I want to thank the owner, Suzanne, she let us check in early and was very accommodating. We will be back, sooner than later for sure!

No staff onsite. This caused an issue when some items were sparse on the breakfast bar, and the key lock box would not open. It took 45 minutes to find and get someone on site to open the keys to our room.

Check in and out were both effortless. Sadly, this was my first vacation of the year. So, visiting here off season was perfect for us. It was peacefully quiet and relaxing, with plenty of space inside the camper and out to unwind and enjoy this getaway. However, I can well imagine the fun you could have in warmer weather with all the additional amenities they have to offer. Mom and I really want to go back for some kayaking! Special bonus points for being truly dog-friendly and not charging crazy huge additional fees. Also, checking in to the cozy camper with soft Christmas music playing the first night, set the tone for a lovely stay. Thanks so much!

Vacation This past weekend, friends invited us to stay…read moreovernight with them at Oasis Lake Buchanan in their RV. Our first impression of the property was mixed. The lakefront location is beautiful, the water level was high, and there was a nice breeze throughout our stay. However, the property itself appeared somewhat run-down. The playground was covered in cobwebs and looked like it hadn't been maintained recently. We also noticed a significant ant problem around the campsite, and our friends had to remove several active wasp nests after arriving. Unfortunately, the biggest issue wasn't the property--it was our interaction with the manager. Late Saturday evening, my friend, who had rented the RV site, began receiving a series of text messages from the manager, Josh, complaining about the number of vehicles parked at the site and warning of additional charges. After reading the messages myself, I was surprised by how confrontational and aggressive the tone was. The following morning, as we were preparing to launch our jet skis at the boat ramp marked for Oasis guests, Josh ran over yelling that the boat ramp was private property. My friend--the paying guest who had rented the RV site--tried to have a conversation with him, but Josh remained focused on the extra vehicle and repeatedly threatened to call the sheriff over the threatening text conversation that took place the night before. (There is nothing in the Texas Penal Code about "hurt feelings.") Rather than calmly explaining the rules or working toward a solution, the interaction quickly became hostile. The situation escalated further when Josh began using profanity, including multiple F-bombs, within earshot of my children. At that point, any chance of a respectful conversation was gone. (Texas Penal defines this as "Disorderly Conduct - Language. A class c misdemeanor.) Shortly afterward, he walked away, and that was the last interaction we had with the little angry man. What made the confrontation even more confusing was that, during this entire incident, there were no other guests on the property. The aggressive response seemed completely disproportionate to the situation. Our friends were ultimately told they were "banned" from returning. While the lakefront location itself is very nice, our experience with management overshadowed everything else. Customer service matters, and unfortunately this was one of the most unpleasant interactions I've experienced at a campground. We won't be returning.

We are on the tail end of a getaway weekend, so we wanted to rest and relax on our last night, before we go home. Pros - We were the only ones there, so it was nice and quiet. The beds were very comfortable. Cons - We were the only ones there, and had no one to help answer questions about the town, or help us when we couldn't get our TV to work (football games). We brought a sound machine, but had we not... you would be able to hear EVERYTHING in that house. Also, there was quite a bit of lights from the front of the house (outside) that flood the room at night. It was very bright. My biggest frustration came with the service. Usually they serve breakfast, but because the owner (I think?) was injured we got vouchers to the Bluebonnet cafe... sounds great ... except it's closed until January 2nd. We rely on yelp for quite a bit, but it would have been nice to have a human around to give recommendations of another local place to eat. It just wasn't a very traditional B&B experience. Everyone who left reviews said how awesome the food was ... and we left with empty stomachs. What a bummer! We ended up just packing up and heading back home. I certainly feel like I overpaid for what I got out of this experience. All in all... we were able to relax on our last night, and the B&B was very clean and cute. But I think next time we will just stay in Fredericksburg another evening.
