I am genuinely surprised at all of the 5 star reviews for Eden. I had very high expectations going into my first time at Eden (my husband and I went for dinner) but sadly came away disappointed. It must have been an off night for them or something b/c we were not wowed at all. I will say the decor is absolutely stunning, but unfortunately decor is not enough to make a dining experience a great one. The service was very odd. To begin, when we arrived the hostess took us across the restaurant, and then said we could pick from 3 different places to sit, one of which was all the way back at the front of the restaurant. This wasn't a big deal by any means, but it was so odd - if we had these options, why not tell us at the beginning instead of walking us across the restaurant first? The waitress who brought out my husband's beer recognized someone she knew at the table next to us and started squealing and hugging and chatting with the person next to us before she gave my husband his beer. Again, this is not a huge deal, but I did find it inappropriate and odd. Two separate servers removed plates/flatware from our tables and both of the servers ended up dropping the flatware right next to us. The food itself is just ok, I don't feel like it was anything to write home about, especially in the west loop where we are surrounded by amazing restaurants. We asked the waiter if the spiced lentil soup was spicy (I cannot handle much spice at all) and he said no, but it WAS spicy and I had to switch first courses with my husband. the roast pork shoulder, while it was juicy, the way it was served made it hard to eat. It was served in a mini black cast iron (which was super cute, but not practical) and the kale and blood orange marmalade were hidden underneath the pork, and it was hard to get everything in one bite since you kind of had to lift up the pork to get the other accompaniments on your fork. I will say the warm apple cake was delicious, but the gelato that was served with it was such a small portion that the ratio of cake to ice cream was off. All in all a very disappointing experience b/c I was expecting a lot more. read more

Eden is AMAZING. This team totally nailed it. The decor is amazing and the FOOD is delicious! Love love love this new gem.

My friend and I decided to go here last minute after reading about new top 10 restaurants in Chicago. It did not disappoint! Servers were warm and friendly. Food was just delicious. My friend and I shared the umami doughnuts (yum!), wedge salad and tagliatelle! Wedge salad was beautiful in presentation and had the freshest of ingredients and the best dressing I've ever had. Tagliatelle was by far my favorite! I love homemade pasta but the richness and the touch of sweet apples made this pasta stand out. And the chocolate crunch dessert, oh my word. I didn't want to share that! Will definitely go back again because so many other mains looked great and must try it. Great dining experience all around! Welcome to the great Chicago dining scene Eden! read more

Perfect brunch spot, great food and atmosphere. They have their own greenhouse (!) and even a parking lot!

We just came here for the first time and it is AMAZING! Brunch was so good that I am going to lobby my husband to return tonight for dinner. I highly recommend the soft eggs, the Eggs Benedict with crab, and the chicken sausage but everything was wonderful. The service is outstanding and the space is beautiful. read more

Tried this after seeing it on Thrillist and Eater Hot. Kind of an odd location but I love that there's parking. Also they have a card explaining how almost everything inside is locally sourced and has meaning which is awesome. Plus they built a green house next door. Service was a bit all over the place but you could tell they were trying and busy. We got the umami doughnuts (weird but delicioius), wedge salad (meh), squash capponata (DELICIOUS), tagliatelle (really good), hominey stew (really meh), and lamb (came out cold). For dessert we had the chestnut mont blanc which was really unique and good. Overall solid restaurant, some hit or miss items on the menu, but worthy of trying. read more

Super accommodating on Father's Day; service was okay - they all seemed aloof... was also super smokey - the kids were not happy. The brunch was excellent, enjoyed the eggs Benedict but the quinoa cakes were the best. Good spot for summer, trendy ambiance. read more

Beautiful and delicious yummies in a lovely but casual space. The Brussels sprouts and beet salad were amazing. The beets had a subtle citrus flavor. The lamb was succulent. Wow! All good. read more

My wife and I went for their grand opening and we're blown away with everything from the service to the food. Though we didn't try any of the signature drinks, the wine selection was outstanding. We had the Brussel sprouts, and also the beet salad...BANG IN YOUR MOUTH GREAT! For our entrees we had the Portuguese chicken and a pasta I don't recall but again, BLASTING with flavor! Needless to say, we'll be regulars - oh, did I mention it's like a half a block from the Ashland stop off the Green line 'L?' Very convenient...excellent read more

"Market price" brunch sandwich for $32 is a joke. The prices are outrageous for the quality of food.

Great restaurant, drinks were creative and food was fantastic. Only received 4 stars due to their rude female bartender who shouldn't be working for them. read more

I'm always pleased to discover a new place where the focus is on the food. The decor is interesting, it's a bit noisy...however that's the only possible detractor from something so perfect. We started with the Artisanal Bread and Tomato Salad. Ethereal, pillowy, delicate foccacia. Enjoyed it with a nice Quenelle of salted butter. The olive bread was forgettable. The tomato salad was interesting and very well balanced. I'd say the most impressive detail was how balanced the seasoning was on everything. They also have a greenhouse out back where they grow herbs, etc. Mains were the Crispy Chicken Ballotine and Braised lamb shank. The Ballotine had perfectly rendered, crispy skin and the chicken was very moist and cooked perfectly. The accompanying sauce had a nice dose of cumin and overall it was very delicious. The Lamb Shank was impeccable. Additionally, the bartender was outstanding. Service was a bit off at times, but nothing too annoying. We had to chase our waiter down after a couple of failed attempts to get his attention. We'll definitely return. read more

FANTASTIC! We will definitely return. The food was great, creative dishes. Bone marrow appetizer decadent. Specials were very good. Great place for sharing. read more

The drinks are great, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable and food is amazing! Everything is so fresh and tasty.

While the food was good, our wine was marked up by --NO JOKE-- 300%. We are avid diners, and found this outrageous and unethical. Additionally, we noted in our open table reservation that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. No one in the restaurant addressed this at all, from the hostess, sommelier, to our server. There are too many amazing restaurants in Chicago for us to return again. I never write yelp reviews, but this lack of attention to detail and up charge were absolutely unacceptable. read more

We went opening night. It was so good! Spicy chicken was delicious. The bone marrow was good and they give you enough bread for it. The atmosphere was crisp, clean and trendy. The chef came out and met us as well. Don't be deceived by the fact it is in a neighborhood. We were just as surprised. It is WELL WORTH the trip. You won't be disappointed. read more

Wonderful bunch with delicious food, drinks, and great service in a beautiful environment. Went with a group of six, and everyone was very pleased with their order. The breakfast bowl and Nutella crepes were particular standouts. Very vegetarian friendly, with the option to add meat to many dishes. This place is slightly off the beaten path, but well worth the trip. read more

I never write reviews on Yelp but this place was amazing so I had to share! Everything about it was wonderful - the service was great (our waiter was hilarious and spent a lot of time going through the menu, talking with us, and checking in with us - he even offered to take a picture of us outside before we left). The food was incredible and the presentation was so beautiful. The atmosphere was also beautiful - kind of industrial and minimalist with some awesome unique decorations on the walls. Every dish we had was remarkable with some very unique combinations of flavors and sauces (our dessert was a carrot chocolate cake with cardamom ice cream - I never though carrot and chocolate would go together but it was so good) and everything tasted very fresh and healthy - not too oily or heavy or anything. They use vegetables and herbs from their greenhouse garden which they encouraged us to visit after our meal. The prices are not overly expensive either. The restaurant also has a parking lot which is a nice perk. I absolutely love this place - this is now one of my favorite restaurants in the city. read more

The Fall Menu was great and it was difficult to choose what to order, as so many things looked delicious! We started with the Roasted Carrots which were delicious and plenty to share for four people. The Roasted Turnips were also quite tasty. The Umami Donuts were different - I preferred the miso mushroom one to the pork one, but everyone else really liked both. The Chinese Broccoli was also really flavorful and quite tasty. For entrees we enjoyed the lamb dish, based on the recommendation of our waitress, and it did not disappoint. The chicken dish and roasted cauliflower were also really delicious. The agnolotti pasta dish was really good, but the serving size was pretty small, especially compared to the other entree dishes. Service was spot on, and the mixologist made a delicious off the menu spicy cocktail for me. We were so full that we thought we had no room for dessert. However, our waitress sent out a complimentary strawberry shortcake dessert and it was light, fluffy and totally delighted all of us - somehow we managed to find room to eat it! It is not your typical strawberry shortcake! We love to try new restaurants and seldom return to places twice given there are so many great restaurants in Chicago. However, we totally look forward to returning to Eden! Highly recommend! read more

Absolutely delicious. One of the best experiences is sitting at the chef's table and watching them do their magic!

Service was good, parking was good, drinks were good. Food was pretty good except the umami doughnuts...so much sodium/seasoning dusted on top, needed a tank of water to choke those down/get the taste out of my mouth. Also got the ceviche and butchers steak which I did like and would recommend. Would consider coming back to try other things but man oh man those doughnuts were bad. read more

I would highly recommend Eden - the food, service and ambiance are all 5/5 (or better). I've booked two different company dinners at Eden and the restaurant was able to accommodate my reservations for both a last minute smaller group and a larger group. I would also like to commend Arif Rahman who is exceptionally pleasant to work with planning an event, he went above and beyond the call to accommodate group disabilities, allergies and preferences to make sure both dining experiences were perfect... thanks for making me look good as the organizer! The interior decorating is just what you would expect from a modern trendy west loop locale and I would recommend taking a peak at the L as it passes by - it makes a great shot if you can catch it! read more

Delicious! We chose dishes from all 4 courses to share. Brussel sprout salad outstanding- get 2! Bone marrow so unique and full of flavor! My 15 year old ordered a burger off the bar menu and said it was the best burger he has ever had... and he's had a lot of burgers! Great restaurant to share dishes and get a taste of many different dishes. read more

Loved everything we had here! Food is so we'll seasoned and unique. Tons of veggie options as well. The drink called the Elevenses is perfect. read more

The food was really good and drinks were well executed. The main reason for low score was the service. I wouldn't go there if they have an event or large party since the whole space including events and large corporate section utilize the same kitchen. It took our 4 entrees probably at least 1.5hrs, our overall dinner was almost 3.5 hrs. read more

A little off the beaten path, with a cool atmosphere, great service, nice atmosphere with ok food. The umami donuts were easily the best dish of the night and raclette cheese to dip in was light and airy. The ceviche was underwhelming with tough fish and the pasta was very salty. It seemed almost every dish had edible flowers. The steak was great but the duck was a little over cooked and heavy with sweet potatoes and escargot. The dessert was good. That being said the cocktails were delicious and they had some amazing wines to choose from. Overall interesting food but really hit or miss, great drinks, great service, slow kitchen and very expensive. read more

Steak was luke warm, lamb shank reheated, and chicken dry. Service wasn't great and the location is surrounded by construction. Best part of the meal was the free parking lot. Bill for party of four w tax (two cocktails, bottle of wine, 3 apps, four entrees) was 300. Not a huge bill but the food wasn't good. I won't be back. read more

Everything here is delicious! New and interesting flavors, friendly and attentive service. The carrots were a standout. The chef uses ingredients from an on-site greenhouse. read more

Relaxed, confident and wildly executing on creative cuisine. The decor and vibe is cool and well thought out...just like the menu. Our server, William, graciously and humorously guided us through the menu. From the first sip of our cocktail and wine my wife and I were raving. Once we took our first bite of the umami donuts I knew it was going to be an incredible experience. One of those meals were every forkful presented new taste sensations. I literally had to stop myself throughout the meal to acknowledge how special the meal was. And then the hazelnut chocolate dessert was presented...a meal that I didn't want to end. read more

This place is amazing! The service is excellent--the hostesses are so welcoming and friendly and the servers and bartenders are so knowledgeable! This is the new place to be in downtown Chicago! So trendy and clean and so close to the Green Line. They also have two beautiful private dining rooms for any kind of occasion! read more

Eden is the most wonderful addition to our West Loop restaurant scene. They have an outstanding cocktail menu--the Elevenses was delicious! I am still dreaming about the dinner we had as is my husband, David. starting with the Artisanal Bread is a must. The Umami Doughnuts and Fried Brussels Sprouts were also superb. I would eat the Agnolotti pasta every day of my life. We had two main courses that we are still salivating over--the lamb loin and the Portuguese chicken..both beyond any expectations. And the housemate donuts are the most perfect dessert ever! There is an excellent wine list and the service, friendliness of everyone, and warmth make Eden our go to place. We can't wait to return and have already made two more reservations. read more

Inventive, high quality food. Great staff, prompt and courteous service. Our experience here was first rate. We had the umami doughnuts, bone marrow, duck lasagne and market fish. Every dish was beautiful, with fresh, flavorful ingredients and uniquely crafted. Cocktails were awesome. The GM Arif checked in with us multiple times proving these people real care about you having a great experience. Just go eat here now !!!! read more

Wow. That is all I can say. Wonderful, creative cooking and superior service. Interesting appetizers. One app called "fried brussel sprouts" was really stir fried brussels (not deep fried) with other veggies, duck and an interesting mix of flavors. Delicious, creative main courses that are full sized (not a spec on a plate). Desserts worth blowing up those New Year's resolutions. Cool, hip yet unpretentious decor. They are a little off the beaten path from Randolph/Fulton row but they have their own parking lot, which is awesome. Worth the extra two minutes in the car! Every dish was five stars, which never happens. Great new addition. read more

first time eating here. the one thing i loved about this place was the decor. unfortunately i was disappointed in the service received by the hostess. i felt that she was a little rude and we were seated in an unpleasant area of the restaurant. the service was exceptional minus the hostess but the food was just ok. read more

A group of eight came here for my birthday dinner a week ago and I still haven't stopped talking about how delicious it was! Everything was impeccable, from the service to the creative cocktails to the fresh & bright flavors to the dessert. Having such a large group allowed us to sample all of the appetizers and each one was better than the next. If I had to pick a favorite it might be the crispy Brussels sprouts that come together with a splash of fish sauce... or maybe the squash dish with grapes (what?!)... or maybe the bread and house made butter... or maybe the delicccccious umami donuts. Okay, obviously can't choose one. The lamb was a standout among all of the main courses but each one was delicious in its own right. The highlight of the meal for me, however, was the pork belly... served up crispy with black garlic, romesco, apples, and potatoes. At least five full minutes of silence followed my first bite as I literally could not stop eating this dish. Eden is a worthy adversary to any of Chicago's finest restaurants but lacks the pretension that comes with many of them. All-around an excellent experience. read more

This restaurant was surprisingly delicious. I went with a friend who is a vegetarian and I'm not, though I am vegetarian friendly. Everything was terrific. We sat outside in their small patio and despite the sound of the L overhead every once and a while, it was a lovely evening. The food is really the star though. I highly recommend. read more

Eden has single handingly the most underrated best burger you can eat in Chicago. It truly is the most hidden gem and I wish that they would make this amazing farm to table style burger every single evening. You can eat it on any night that there is a home blackhawk or bulls game and then simply walk a safe 5 minutes right to the UC. The homemade cheese, bread and of course patty will not disappoint. read more

Went to dinner with a few girlfriends on 12-6-17. Ordered the Grilled Lamb which was $38. What I got was 3 small pieces of sliced lamb. The rest was lamb meatballs. After complaining that the description on the menu didn't specify meatballs, we were told that 'merguez' is spicy sausage as if we were stupid for not knowing this. The server said he would ask the chef to make some more lamb. He came back shortly and said the manager on shift, Shawn, would not allow it. We have never encountered a restaurant that sells itself as a high end establishment not cater to its clients. When we indicated that we would leave a bad review on yelp, the manager Shawn come out with a smirk with additional slices of lamb when we were in the middle of paying our bill to fix the issue. He was unprofessional even when trying to 'fix' the issue. We obviously turned him away and refuse to take the lamb home. Outside of our bad experience with service, the food is over-salted and tries too hard to be trendy. It's all fluff with no substance - if you like overpaying for food/presentation that is all fluff with bad food you'll feel right at home here. We have gone there for brunch and the food was much better over dinner if you must try this place out. However, I will not be going back just for that experience alone. There is enough high end establishment in the city of Chicago, I refuse to spend money at a place that is so unprofessional. read more

Fantastic food. Very unique to Chicago. Loved focus on fresh ingredients. The steak was great, umami donuts, and the tuna crudo. Delicious desserts too. Everything had a nice presentation read more
