Alaskan King crab
Yun C.

I had some hope that this would be a great meal. The price tag surely should have ensured one. The setting, the view, the services, and the presentation all made this meal appeared to be a spectacular meal but when it came down to taste, I was simply disappointed. The flavors didn't seem to blend well and did not highlight the ingredients. We tried the grande degustation 8 courses meal for $250. First appetizer was the king crab with scallops. I can feel the texture of the crab and scallops but tasted barely any umami from the protein. This is usually my favorite course in a tasting meal but it was underwhelming. I wanted to try Elk and was excited to taste the elk tartare but I guess the texture of elk is not great and gave a slimy consistency to the dish. The flavor was also meh. The Foie gras parfait was decent but a little too sweet for my liking. There wasn't any wow factor compared to other preparations of foie gras I've had in the past in terms of taste. The lamb roulade looked fantastic but it was overly salty. There were relatively large pieces of sea salt on top and I felt the meat was already seasoned on the salty side and added the sea salt on top made it extremely salty and not palatable. The croquette was dry. The waygu and halibut were both cooked well. Not sure I felt they stand out compared to other meals I've had at this price point. The Camembert Beignet was not my favorite, it was again too salty for a dessert albeit that it is cheese inside. My husband and I both actually really enjoyed the sorbet palate cleanser more than the other dishes. It provided a very refreshing awakening to the taste buds while the other dishes were somewhat dull and odd in terms of flavor. Too sweet, too salty, not enough balance. We enjoyed the cheese plate made for our daughter. It made her very happy. If you are looking for dining with a view and attentive service, this fits the bill but for us, it is ALWAYS about the food.

Woah. This is fine dining executing their culinary prowess to their highest power. We felt wined and dined from the moment we walked in for our reservation. In all honestly, this might be one of the swankiest atmospheres I've ever been in at a dining establishment with outdoor views to match. We made a reservation months in advance and are glad we did, it seems quite busy during our visit. We went with the chefs menu and paired with a wonderful bottle of wine and their signature smoked old fashioned. This is the only meal I've been to with my partner where they had to basically be wheeled out since they were so full and tired. It was definitely one of the priciest meals we've ever had, and while it was a wonderful experience, we wish the flavors were as powerful as everything else around us.

I didn't expect there to be such a fancy dinner spot in Banff, but I'm impressed! 4 stars for the food but 5 stars for the overall experience and fantastic service. My husband and I dined here for our anniversary. This is one of the very few nicer restaurants I've seen that offers both a regular and vegetarian tasting menu. For each, you can choose whether you want three, six, or nine course tasting. I'm sure the menu is seasonal and is constantly changing. When we dined at the end of Aug, these were the dishes I had as part of the six course tasting menu ($175 for the chef tasting menu and $125 for the vegetarian version): Amuse bouche - asparagus wrapped in garganelli Foie gras terrine - this was very smooth and rich, but I wasn't quite sure how to eat it (by itself or with bread). I asked to sub out the goat cheese panna cotta for this dish as I don't like goat cheese, and they were very accommodating. Veal sweet bread with boar belly - the boar belly was delicious, and I loved the squash on the side Cantaloupe and honey granita (similar to shaved ice) - good cantaloupe flavor but would've preferred the sorbet on the menu Sablefish with garlic aioli and mushrooms - this dish was really good. Different types of mushrooms which were all very fresh, and even the garlic aioli was really good. Loved the tender sablefish slices Beef tenderloin - super tender, but the beef short rib was too salty Opalys cremeaux (dessert) Complimentary dessert - we got a couple extra bite-sized pieces of dessert. The strawberry fudge was okay, mango marshmallow tasted like dried mango in marshmallow form, and the white chocolate truffle was my favorite dessert of the whole night When we left, they also gave us a goodie bag with banana bread and a cookie. How thoughtful! And I can't write this review without mentioning the service, which was impeccable. They seated us at the best table in the house since I mentioned in my reservation request that this was for an anniversary. They made sure to serve us our dishes for each course simultaneously, and replaced the silverware and plates with every course. All in all, this was a fantastic way to celebrate our anniversary. Note: parking here is done through valet and is complementary

Beef tenderloin - braised oxtail, porcini mushrooms, pickled beet, pomme puree, marsala jus This was cooked to perfection

We made a last minute reservation here and I accidentally made it for 2 people when I meant 4 and they were able to accommodate us. The menu only had 3, 5 and 8 course options. We chose the 3 course option and they were kind enough to make modifications sans mushrooms and beets. The only mention is the salmon was a bit on the fishy side. Otherwise everything was impeccible! The service was out of this world and the servers had a good sense of humour. The food was absolutely amazing. Would recommend and return! One of my top experiences ever!

The restaurant has a beautiful view, as do many in this breathtaking area. My husband and I have dined out all over the world at all types of restaurants. This place felt a bit snooty, but the food didn't match. We spent close to $500US and had a tastier dinner the previous night at the famous pizza tavern. I'm all for a dining experience, but the core of that has to be exceptional cuisine, and that was not this. Disappointing considering all the accolades. The service was good. We did not do the wine pairing so cannot comment on that.

Atmosphere - 5 Cleanliness - 5 Quality - 5 Service - 5 Taste - 5 Celebrated Valentine's Day with dinner at Eden and I must say this was my most memorable dining experience while visiting Banff. The atmosphere was fitting for the occasion with a carefully curated playlist for love in the background as you walked in and throughout the rest of your time in Eden. The views are amazing with the lush green trees and lighting at the bottom and snow capped mountains on top. The menu for the night was a preset tasting menu that started with a bread plate featuring the most amazing wheat bread I have ever had, focaccia and sourdough served with whipped honey butter, olive oil + balsamic vinegar and regular butter. Then came the bison tatare, lobster caviar, asparagus and mushrooms, bison tenderloin, a strawberry and champagne palate cleanser, then crackers and cream cheese and the chocolate deserts. Every single dish was divine, extremely balanced and just DELICIOUS! Service was as spectacular as the food! The sommelier was helpful in recommending drinks and I was lucky enough to try the 1963 port which was truly aged perfection and well paired with the chocolate dessert! Overall, Eden provides a Michelin dining experience in the heart of Banff national park. We walked out of dinner with a rose and a special gift from the restaurant. Absolutely loved our time here and would love to return on our next visit!

Another superb dinner with incomparable food, fabulous wine pairings and impeccable service. Bollinger, caviar, A5, black truffle, fabulous local wagyu and lamb tartare, every dish a work of art and perfectly prepared as always. Thanks to the whole team for a memorable evening in Banff. A steal at C$1300 for three including gratuity.

Very high-end experience! The magnificent view, stellar service, and imaginative dishes are all reflected in the price. For "regular" people like us, it was a huge splurge to get the full 8-course menu... but totally worth it. The flight of international cheeses was our favorite part. We also enjoyed three appetizers, three entrees, two desserts, a pallet-cleanser, and unique breads (with 3 types of butter). I won't say the price; look it up! Excellent blending of flavors. What a wonderful, memorable meal.

View from our table! Gorgeous!

Goodness gracious, where do I even begin?! Eden has it all--grandiose views of the mountains, top tier customer service, incredible plating presentation, and unbelievably delectable food. It is truly fine dining at its finest--not just a meal, but an unforgettable experience all around! To start with, the staff at Eden are truly committed to going above and beyond to ensure your entire experience at Eden is top notch. When our host found out that we parked our car at a parking lot that was rather far away, he offered to either have the valet service bring our car to us or have a driver take us to our car. We truly didn't mind the walk, but we really appreciated the thoughtful gesture. We were seated at a table next to the window, with both seats angled towards the view so that we could both enjoy it. It was a quiet Wednesday evening, and it felt like we almost had the entire restaurant to ourselves. We went for the 4 course meal--you can choose from appetizers, entrees, cheeses, and desserts. You can mix and match these items (for example, if you wanted to, you can order 4 appetizers, or 4 desserts, or 2 appetizers + 2 cheeses, etc). I went with 1 of each. However, if you order more than 1 entree, I believe there is a surcharge for each additional entree. Our host actually recommended not ordering more than 1 or 2 entrees because the portion sizes are pretty significant. This is not a tasting menu, so the entrees will be a full sized portions. There are also wine pairings to go with each course but we did not opt for that so we got glasses of water from the Canadian Rockies (yes, even the water is fancy). For appetizers, we got the Sweet Potato Soup, and Squab. The Sweet Potato Soup was delicious, very light and simple. However, I wish we got two orders of the Squab instead because it was absolutely out of this world! Perfectly seasoned, lightly crisped, and so so so tender. All of the textures on the plate came together perfectly and really opened up the palate. After our appetizers, I expected to go straight into our entrees but we were pleasantly surprised by a multi-sensory palate cleanser that included tea leaves and flowers doused in dry ice--this created a beautiful visual of wafting fragrant smoke across our table. This wasn't meant to be eaten but cleared out our sensory palates to prepare us for our entrees. For entrees, we got the Wagyu Striploin, Milk Fed Pork Rack, and Braised Veal Cheek. I loved that they had options such as Venison, Duck Breast, and Veal Cheeks--it just seemed to fit perfectly with the atmosphere and location of the restaurant. I do have to say, the presentation of every dish at Eden is so delicately prepared that I swear each plate is supposed to tell a story--I have pictures to prove it! Wagyu Striploin - the Wagyu Striploin came with potato, garlic, and broccoli--quite hearty and very filling. I enjoyed the Wagyu but I wouldn't say it stood out to me more than other wagyu's I've had elsewhere. Milk Fed Pork Rack - I was impressed by the tenderness of the Milk Fed Pork Rack and loved how they integrated almond and coconut into the dish. The almond component reminded me of foamed almond milk and went surprisingly well with the savoriness of the meat. Braised Veal Cheeks - this is a pretty hearty dish and the portion size is quite large. If you like game-y meats, this dish is for you. It comes with cauliflower and brussel sprouts, and I believe the veal cheeks were braised in Guinness. The cheeks were very well flavored but we struggled to finish this dish because it was quite heavy and we had already eaten 2 entrees. For cheeses, you can pick three out of their selections and I went with three different types of brie cheeses because I LOOOVE BRIE. I had the Brillat Savarin (France), Du Village (Quebec), and Riopelle De L'isle (Quebec). The presentation of the cheese plate was a work of art, so beautiful that I stared at it for a good five minutes because I didn't want to ruin it. The softest brie (I forgot its name) was my favorite--it came with these tea smoked pears that were the perfect complement to its flavor. For dessert, we got the Dulce De Leche (kefir, white chocolate, cauliflower), and Forest Floor (chanterelle, birch, Bourbon). My favorite part about the dulce de leche was the kefir for sure, it balanced out the sweetness of the white chocolate and was a great way to finish off the meal. The forest floor was such a beautiful dessert, representing a stunning actual forest floor complete with delicate flavors. If I could give Eden more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. If you are looking for a very special treat while you're in Banff, Eden is the place to find it!

Amuse Bouche - not sure what it was, but it was cold and refreshing

We decided to splurge on dinner for our final night in Banff, so we booked Eden at the Rim Rock hotel. Its one of handful of Canada's 5-diamond restaurants and the only one in Alberta. We booked the 10-course grand degustation, but it turned out to be much more than 10 courses and closer to 14-16. There were a few extras but one unique thing is that the wife and I were served different apps, entrees, and desserts. We had no problem sharing. I enjoyed most of the items, especially the game meats which seems so well executed and tasty. Service was great, but I wished timing between dishes could be faster - our dinner was 3.5 hrs long and the wife was getting cranky and sleepy toward the end. We spent the entire day hiking after all. Still, great effort by the chef especially in designing separate menus for each of us, so I would give 4 stars for food but -1 star for the pacing so 3 stars overall. My favorite dishes: + Partridge - carved in front of you and incredibly tender. + Duck - I liked the halloumi, pickled apple, and sweet components that came with the duck. + Scallop - Perfectly seared and the fava beans, chanterelles, and cauliflower puree worked well here. + Crab with Chili and Tempura - Not sure how else to describe the dish, but it had elements of crunchiness, slight kick with chili peppers sliced thin, and pieces of King Crab and lumped crab meat. + Trout - Cool presentation and unique flavor combos of hollandaise, carrots, and almonds. Good dishes: = Lobster - Lobster meat served with a foamy bisque. = Venison - Meat was tender and was like beef only leaner. Presentation a little messy with splatter of beet sauce. = Herbal Flan - Interesting way to prepare a salad - little greens and legumes places on a little square of green flan - sort of like a little garden. = Wagyu - It wasn't overcooked to our relief, and paired well with the wine sauce. Side dishes included salsify, which had an eggplant-like texture. My least favorite dishes: - Foie Gras - Normally this is one of our favorite treats and although Eden gave relatively large portions I felt it wasn't seared enough. The texture was on the soggier side since there was no crust holding it together. - Desserts - The peachy dessert didn't seem too impressive, but maybe that's because I took a bite of the chocolate one first. Would have been nice to get some texture contrast for the chocolate - I felt it drowning in sauce. Eden would be great if you don't mind a longer dinner for the grand degustation (3-3.5 hrs). If that's not your thing, it may have been better to try their regular tasting menu (7 course) or 3 or 4-course menus. You'll want to enjoy the experience at Eden at a reasonable pace, and not be stuck in Purgatory for too long between dishes!

Usually if the restaurant has a great view like Eden, Banff, food could not match the view.. Eden is different case. We had special sandwich and salad. Both were the best! Stayed at Rimrock, eating Eden is perfect. Elegant place with friendly service. Interior of the hotel is real special. Wall lamp shades looked like replica of Frank Lloyd Wright. High wooden ceiling and wall, chairs all matched wonderfully. And the view!, yeah, the view, food matched perfectly. Great place to relax.

Just outstanding! I don't think there are enough good synonyms for this place. I took my bf here for his birthday and it was so great that we came back the next day for dinner! Service was amazing from the moment we dropped off our car to the moment we got back into our car. They were so amazing and friendly, such an expert in all their foods and beverages, I have nothing bad to say. The food was also amazing. I did the 3 course the first day and the 5 course vegetarian option the next day. I love every single dish I tried. The trio of the small deserts after were the only thing I'd say I didn't really care for but it was a nice little bonus. We can will definitely be back when we're in Banff again!

While we were in Canada I wanted to try a tasting menu somewhere and this is the best place that I could find for that. Every single dish was presented beautifully and everything was delicious. This was my moms first tasting menu venture and she loved everything as well. We even got a little goodie bag on the way out with some banana bread. Below are all the photos of what we had. Try to request a table next to the window the views are spectacular.

Whenever we host family or friends, we make sure to include an evening at Crazyweed--because we truly enjoy it that much. I've recommended it to countless people visiting Canmore and have left many glowing reviews over the years. I'm genuinely grateful to have such an elevated restaurant in our town. This week, we actually dined at Crazyweed twice. Our Wednesday experience was exactly what we've come to expect: incredible food and warm, attentive service. I shared a positive review afterward. Unfortunately, our Saturday visit for a party of five was very different. While the food was, as always, outstanding--kudos to the chef and kitchen team--the service was surprisingly disappointing. We arrived ten minutes late for our 5:45 p.m. reservation, which I fully acknowledge. However, our server (a shorter woman with long reddish-brown hair) seemed irritated from the moment we sat down. She immediately reminded us that our table was booked until 7:45 p.m. and pushed us to order drinks, appetizers, and entrées almost instantly. Throughout the meal she repeated, "because you were late," four or five times. There were no pleasantries, no warmth--only frustration. The only time she seemed pleased was when we asked for the bill. What made this even more confusing was that the restaurant wasn't full; there were multiple empty tables throughout our meal. Her fixation on our being ten minutes late felt unnecessarily harsh. Despite this, we enjoyed our meal and were completely finished well before 7:45 p.m. Our receipt showed 7:27 p.m. Yet another staff member (with long straight dark brown hair) came to our table to tell us we had only eight minutes left "because we were late" and that another reservation needed the table. No one was waiting, and that party had not yet arrived, but we were still ushered out in a way that felt abrupt and unprofessional. When I asked to speak with the manager or owner, the same woman returned only to argue with me about how many times the lateness had been mentioned. There was no apology, no attempt to listen, and no effort to de-escalate the situation. She refused to give her name and was confrontational rather than constructive. These two staff members should not be in customer-facing roles--especially not at a restaurant of Crazyweed's caliber. Their behaviour was disrespectful and completely out of step with the exceptional service we've consistently experienced from the rest of the team. I am deeply disappointed. I have always gone out of my way to support and recommend Crazyweed, which makes this experience all the more upsetting. The food remains extraordinary, but the service we received on Saturday was far below the standard Crazyweed is known for.

After visiting this spot, my boyfriend and I had a post-review discussion in the car and without…read morehesitation, we both agreed that this is one of the best restaurants that we've ever been to. This was our last restaurant that we had the pleasure of visiting in Canmore, and we definitely ended up saving the best for last. I chose this restaurant as the spot to celebrate my boyfriend's 30th birthday because I wanted it to be special and it definitely delivered! First off, the service at this spot is impeccable. They truly hire professional, genuine, skilled, and crafty people here who really care about food and the experience. It was very telling and we wanted to highlight that observation. Secondly, the cocktails. During our trip, we were lucky to have Josh as our bartender and not only did he truly know the ins and outs of the liquor and the ingredients that he used, you can tell that he has really perfected the craft at creating a beautifully presented cocktail, and this was already noticed by the way he cuts an orange. The cocktails here were basically like an art piece and had some of the most creative presentations I've ever seen. My cantaloupe island cocktail even had an herb popsicle in it and the after noon cocktail had mint sorbet incorporated into the presentation too, which was none like I've had before. Food-wise, they start you with a complimentary palette cleanser, which was a mini donut topped with fennel and caviar, which was exquisite and enhanced the experience. We then chose the foie gras, root salad, and mackerel as our smaller dishes and the duck and cod as our main course dishes. I swear to you.. each dish that we tried, we looked at each other in awe because we were baffled that something could taste that wonderful and look so aesthetically pleasing at the same time. Our favorite was the cod main course, which happened to be the newest menu item at the time. We also got the baked alaska for dessert since we wanted to complete the entire course, and that was beautifully presented and flavorful as well. The main chef/owner, Danny Beaulieu, and his team absolutely killed everything on this menu, and we were even able to meet with the owner and to speak with him during our visit here. It was a truly lovely experience and we are big time rooting for the restaurant's success. We are really thankful that we were able to experience Ankor and appreciate the love, care, and effort put into this spot. We will definitely see you again and hope to be back soon! :)
