We came here for the first time on a Saturday night around 8pm and the place was really quiet. There were only a few other people dining in. The host was very friendly and affable. Food 4/5: I think the Hibachi food was great. We got steak Hibachi dinner, Hibachi fried rice, and a side order of shrimp. Everything was made right in front of you and was served hot - delicious. The sauces are so good! One is ginger based and another is wasabi based. Overall, I think the food is above average and we were satisfied with our dinner. Service 3/5: They didn't do anything terrible. They didn't make us wait for too long neither... but the server and the chef weren't in their best moods you could tell. Our Hibachi dinner chef was "performing" his art with the leastttt excitement on earth. He said things and made comments in a boring tone, as if reading from a script. I get it... it was a Saturday night, 8pm and you were still here at the restaurant, making dinner for strangers and having to say things that you'd repeated too many times. However, it's your responsibility to make the dinner an enjoyable experience for the customers, so you might as well be creative and try harder to actually sound excited... It was my first Hibachi experience and it was not a good one. I'd rather eat in peace without the chef saying a word. Visited Edamame from a Yelp search, otherwise would have never found it because it's tucked in near a supermarket plaza. The lunch sushi & sashimi combo was really good. The sashimi was one of the best I've had. (Very fresh) Although I was very hungry :). The Godzilla roll was so rich in flavor yet very light ...mmm so tasty ... Just thinking about it makes want to go back and get another!!! I love that they sell Japanese soda... It's always fun to order one and have someone that has never seen them before try to open it Only negatives were the isolation from the hibachi grills... It's fun to watch them while you are eating, but they have a glass divider that kind of blocks your view a little. Also the waitress kept coming to our table a little too often... We first decided to try Edamame after receiving a coupon in the mail. We didn't realize it was also a hibachi place until we arrived. We opted for the sushi on our first visit, but we may return to try the hibachi. Overall, the restaurant has a nice atmosphere, and the food was good. Our only complaint is that it seems expensive for what you get. We've been to other, similar places that we like just as much but that cost less. They do deliver, however, which is a plus for a lazy day. read more

If you're looking for a fun hibachi experience, this place is a great option. It had been a while since I had been out for hibachi, and Edamame didn't disappoint. I came here at 4pm on a Friday with a group of coworkers, and we were seated right away. They seem to have a good drink menu with pretty decent prices. If I remember correctly, the beers were all under $4, no complaints there! The hibachi prices were a little more expensive, but seemed to be on par with other hibachi joints I've been to. After all, you are getting dinner and a show. I ordered the filet mignon with the soba noodles ($25ish, and delicious!). Each meal comes with miso soup (yum), salad with ginger dressing (LOVE!), and a few pieces of hibachi shrimp. Everything was quite tasty, and the portions were generous. The show was your typical hibachi experience. The chef was engaging, although our particular chef's accents was a bit strong and difficult to understand at times. All in all he made the experience fun. When ordering I gave the sushi menu a once over, it looks like they have a great selection. I'll have to come back and give the sushi a try. read more

Edamame is a smaller hibachi restaurant at the end of a strip mall. It's nicely decorated with a bar, normal dining and a hibachi space but it's not all bells and whistles - it's good though. The pricing for the children to enjoy hibachi is fair (not overinflated and they can have that pricing until they are 12) and the adult pricing is normal. I will come back here, but I would say the chefs do need to step up their game a little bit. A giant fire and an onion choo choo train are not the only tricks they should do. If this was corrected I may be inclined to give this location a 5 - after all, hibachi is all about the chef show and freshly cooked food. read more

I feel like the big bully on the playground for being the only person reviewing to not like this place. Typically I am very quick to find great things about the places I eat, but I am a big habchi connoisseur so maybe I am being a bit biased. I don't like sushi but thought the chicken tempura roll was both beautifully displayed and also delicious. His biggest concern was the temperature of the roll. The whole Dragon roll was very cold where the rice should have been room temperature. Now to the hibachi ...dun dunnn dunnnnnnnnnnn. While the overall flavor of the rice, vegetables, and the chicken was pretty standard, something was very off and weird about the texture of the chicken. The only way I can describe it was that it was hard on the outside and dry on the inside. It taste as if someone just put a raw piece of of chicken breast in a fryer for too long. Not sure what was going on here. Also, the noodles were very interesting in flavor. We couldn't quite figure out what it was but it was almost fruity and fragrant - not what we wanted in hibachi noodles. The service was great and the place was clean and looked pretty new. The pricing is pretty standard for a hibachi restaurant. I'm hoping we were there on an off night or something, but I am thinking this isn't a place I would want to return for the hibachi. Came here for a birthday party for my husband (10 people for Hibachi) and we had a GREAT time! The staff was attentive, warm, and welcoming. The Hibachi chef was hilarious and fun without interrupting the natural flow of conversation. Everything was affordable and delicious, perfectly cooked to order. The drinks were great (and strong!). They are currently running a buy one Hibachi dinner, get one Free of EQUAL or lesser value. I ordered Two Filet Mignon dinners ($23.95) and a Kids Steak Dinner for my son ($12.95). We had to ask for Saki, he didn't throw the food, and did not at all interact with my child. The waitress, or lack thereof, was awful. Had to ask for straws 10 minutes after she said she would get them, waited about 20 minutes for a drink from the bar, took our dipping sauce before we were done eating, and gave us our check before asking if we needed anything else. Very average sushi. We ordered the bento box and the black dragon sushi, along with an order of scallops. The scallops were cut in half, breaded and fried, and quite oily. The "chef's special sauce" appeared to be out of a jar. The black dragon sushi ("spicy crunchy tuna and cucumber wrapped in eel and avocado") was dominated by the spicy tuna mush, to the point that nothing else mattered. The bento box was the best part of an average meal. The best part of the bento was that the fish was fresh. The soup was ok. The shumai was greasy and could easily have come from a frozen pack. Okay, so I chose this place to eat because it was right next to my gym. My friend and I saw it, looked at the reviews, and decided to see if they were true. They seem to be mostly complaints about the hibachi and not the sushi. We were craving sushi and drinks, which is what we ordered. The sushi rolls were really good, and my favorite was the Fantastic Roll which was really good and I ordered another one to take home to the bf and he liked it too (we eat sushi a lot, so that may help in your decision). Also, we ordered drinks--she ordered a martini, and I had the mango MaiTai which was surprisingly good. I really only needed one for the dinner because it was appropriately strong, and since I may have been driving, I didn't want to drink too much. Overall, it was awesome and my friend and I weren't sure why the ratings were bad until we read the reviews and noticed it was mostly for hte hibachi. The sushi and drinks were awesome! When our chef came, he wasn't as energetic as the one serving and cooking behind us. He was a little dull, and he also mixed up some of our orders, which is fine, he was able to correct his mistakes. I ordered the filet mignon hibachi dinner, and it was sub-par. The steak wasn't cooked medium, it was dry and not that tasty. Overall, I had a good time with my parents, and the atmosphere was nice but I will probably come back sometime. I tried my moms shrimp, and that was delicious! While the sushi (maki appetizer of salmon skin roll, eel cucumber roll, and spicy tuna roll) was pretty decent, and Edamame grill was well made, Udon lunch portion had all but 2 (two!) slices of fish cake and 2 slivers of chicken. A very attentive waitress brought this up to manager's attention, whose reply was "That's how lunch portion comes". First, the waiter was pretty intense with the urge to take our order. Like bro, your 18% gratuity is included in the price, chill out. Then one of us finished our beer, but there was no waiter around so she just had to stare at the bubbles at the bottom of the glass in forlorn desire. My dining companion wanted salt and a steak knife, and I wanted chop sticks...finally I had to get up and get them myself. In doing so, I realized that the sign said "buy one entree get one free", and I realized that we hadn't placed an order for a second entree. Shouldn't the waiter have told us that? Then they started mopping the floors but failed to return to table to pick up our credit card, so I again had to get up...twice. I had told them specifically what to put on each credit card but they simply ran one of the cards the way I'd instructed and the other card with the remainder of the balance on the bill. That's when I found out that the gratuity was included. Great but now the percentage that each of us would like to pay has been skewed...so a different amount should have been run on each card. Again, wish they spoke up and communicated a little more effectively. The hibachi chef was very entertaining and we did get a lot of food for what we paid, but I think if I return it will be for drinks only or maybe a quick mom on sushi. A bit disappointing. read more

I've been here in the past for hibachi and for sushi takeout and i've never had an issue. I came in on Wednesday night with a guest and the place was empty. Only 2 party's for Hibachi and 2 tables occupied. We sat at a table and even with the lack of occupants, it took us 10 minutes to get a drink (even had to call her over). Ordered the crab rangoon which was great. We both ordered the Chicken Hibachi and she ordered the noodles with it. Came out relatively quick. Presentation-wise the chicken did not look appetizing. We took 2 bites and could not eat any further. Tasted old and the chicken was rubbery. Noodles were slimy and the rice was bland. I complained and they were hesitant to comply with my request to take it away. The "Manger" came over and said it's different if you order from the kitchen than if you you sit at a grill. So if i order from the kitchen I get less quality food?? Did not make sense to me. Gave me unnecessary attitude and took the food away. They comped the meal. I will NOT be returning. read more

I'm surprised by how nice this place is inside, since it was a Blockbuster video for my entire childhood. Now instead of browsing for movies and vidoegames I can browse for sushi rolls and delicious hibachi. The food was all delicious, the rice was especially good. I had one of their cocktails which didn't seem to be very strong at all which was a little disappointing but oh well. It's nice that this place is right next to Jenny Craig and a gym so you can walk out in a food coma feeling like crap about yourself and sign up for a diet plan and gym membership in the same trip. I love sushi. I eat a lot of it. For the price and convenience, this place is top notch. They are EXTREMELY consistent with their quality and portions, and don't skimp with the good fish. I highly recommend the sakedon which comes with a lot of salmon, miso and salad. All the special maki I have tried are great too. I drive by this place every day but never was interested until a menu was delivered to my house. Very extensive and reasonable prices. My mom and I went for lunch on Saturday and it was just what Yelp had described: wonderful! I had the Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box and my mom had the Crazy Shrimp Roll. I'm very dissatisfied with the service and felt like I got yelled at by the lady that sat us, we had no time to choose or make sure what we ordered was right. She made decisions for us (a group of 6) and talking to her was like a fight when my girlfriend was mad at me. Chef didn't say boo and just cooked and left. Was not enjoyable. If I could review under a 1/5 I would. Don't even mention the 300 dollar bill for 6 people getting the cheapest things on the menu, and the added 60 dollar tip for terrible service. The staff knows my husband and I as we get take out all of the time! We love the hibachi meals, and my husband, Abe Lincoln, can vouch for the teriyaki. The hibachi comes with a generous portion of meat/chicken/shrimp with vegetables (carrots, broccoli, pea pods, mushrooms). These are sautéed in one of the most delicious sauces I have ever tasted. (even the cat is crazy about it). It also comes with a generous portion of miso soup (they don't skimp on the seaweed) a salad with ginger dressing, and a generous amount of white or fried rice. This place is a little easy to miss- it is in the shopping center next door to the famed Hibernian Hall. It's wonderful though, and worth checking out! read more

I have been here a few times because the kids and my various friends really like it here. It is not my go to for sushi but when I want hibachi, this place will do. As far as hibiachi, this place is definitely a step above the other places I have been to in the past so there is that. If you don't want to wait, make a reservation for the table because the lines on the weekends are impressive. I do get the impression that they want you out fast and service reflects that. As far as reservations, they will also not seat you until your whole party is there (even if the place is empty) - no skin off my nose ... they lost out on us ordering apps and drinks while we waited for our whole party to arrive. read more

This is based on the Hibachi. It was bizarre. The steak we had was tough and scallops we so salty and chewy. The service was swift but almost to the point of feeling like we were eating fast food. No lingering for this meal. The plus was that we had our two kids, 10 and 12 with one of their friends. They loved it, the show the Hibachi chef put on, so that was fun for them.
