I ordered the lunch special for takeout and it wasn't bad, but I'm not sure if I would get it again. It did feel a little strange to get two soups (miso and udon noodle soup), but the value was good and I was full after eating all of the food. The udon also came with a lot of extra broth so I could use it for more noodle soups at home, which was a plus. All in all, the food was okay, but nothing really stood out: Miso soup: Seemed like a normal miso soup from a takeout. It was good but like I said above, I would have been fine without this because we also had an udon soup in the special. Udon noodle soup: The soup didn't have a ton of flavor, but udon noodles are very thick and they filled me up. Without this, the lunch special would have likely left me hungry, but at least this made me full, so that was a plus. I do like these type of noodles as well, but if you are not used to them, they are quite thick. Salad: This was a pretty standard salad at a sushi restaurant, but I really do love the salad dressing they use. The vegetables seemed fresh and washed as well. Spicy Tuna Roll: I was looking forward to this the most and it let me down the hardest. It looked nice and plump, but the actual filling itself had a strange greasy feeling to it - possibly because of the amount of oil used in the tempura flakes. I've had other spicy tuna rolls with tempura that were great, but this one just felt very oily, and even picking a piece up left a bunch of red colored oil behind in the container. All in all, the food wasn't terrible but there wasn't much standing out either. I'd give this a 3/5 and probably won't be back, but there wasn't anything really wrong and the price was pretty good for how filling the special was! read more

I ordered takeout for 2 last night. I tried the 18 pc. maki combo that includes the spicy tuna maki, the California maki and the una-avo maki. I also ordered a mixed greens roll with avocado, sweet potatoes, lettuce, tofu, all enclosed in green soybean wrap, like a perfect little veggie Christmas present. Finally, we also had a vegetable Udon soup. The sushi was fresh and very tasty. Although I'm a meat-lover through and through, the mixed greens roll was surprisingly my favorite. The sweet potatoes, avocado and tofu combo was very tasty. The udon soup was warm and flavorful. The price was very reasonable for the amount of food we ordered. I ended up paying ~$60 for 4 rolls, a soup with tip. If there is anything I like as much as good food, it is a good deal! I've dined in and done takeout, and had a great experience both times. Their dining room has comfortable booths. Their scorpion bowls are a favorite, too. I go here when I'm craving sushi. The New Wave maki and rising sun maki are two of my favorite rolls, along with the trusty spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls. I am still fairly new to the Watertown area. To me, part of a place feeling like home is having go-to local take out options, and New Ginza has now become a go-to! We recently came on a rainy blustery day, and the spicy seafood soup hit the spot for my boyfriend. He added some fresh lime at home and devoured it with a side of rice. Menu says it's Korean style, with shrimp, scallops, and clams. The tofu was an awesome touch- I stole some, because I love tofu in soup. I had to leave a glowing review because of my new all time favorite vegetable roll: mixed greens roll. The food is pretty good. We ordered a lot. Multiple rolls, seaweed salad, duck, friend rice, crab Rangoon, hibachi. The ambiance is casual and a great place for lunch with your in-laws. We came at a weird time, 2pm, and so our 11 month old could be himself without inconveniencing anyone. I'm always thankful when places allow me to make a reservation. But honestly, the service we just not friendly at all. Borderline rude, and this is the reason that New Ginza fell from 4.5 stars to solidly 3 and honestly the reason that I probably won't be back. However, since it was pouring rain, I decided to still try it out and got the Lunch Box to go. Sorry to say that the tempura was tasty but under cooked, as was the chicken teriyaki. Only reason we ended up coming to try this place again after years of staying away was because they sent out a coupon in the mail. This place has some of the worst sushi i have ever had. In order to cheap out on fish they stuff every roll with about a pound of Penko. All of our Rolls ended up having so much Penko that you could not taste what was inside. The part that really pissed me off is we ordered a scallop roll that never came out yet when we got the bill they tried to charge us. Ok no big deal, the waitress says they will quickly make us the roll quick. What they brought out and gave to us ended up being Clam they were trying to pass of as scallop since they must have ran out and fell stupid but made the situation alot worst. At the end of the day why go to this shithole when we have Super Fusion Sushi which is light years better. read more

We read about servers being very kind and courteous. Although we didn't get that kind of treatment until half the time we were there. There were not many servers present too. I have been going here since 2010. I've order takeout and dine in. My husband and I had our first date here and we annually come here for our date anniversary as well as on regular dinner dates. The service is always friendly. I've never encountered anyone rude. Best bang for your buck is the lunch specials but even when we eat there for lunch we always get the same appetizers and a few rolls. This is by far my favorite hokkaiyaki (scallop). The edamame was just gross, with slimy feel and canned chili spice (we didn't order the spicy version). Threw it away. I don't understand how anyone can give this restaurant anything less than 5 stars! I've ordered take-out from this wonderful restaurant at least a dozen times and never had a single issue with any of my orders. Their sushi is always on point. I prefer simple rolls and usually stick with Yellowtail or Spicy Salmon--I like to actually taste the fish, and not it be overpowered by a lot of toppings. I've also had their scallion pancakes (perfectly cooked), Yaki-Ika (yummy!), and recently have fallen in love with their Spicy Pork Belly Bao Buns (I could eat a dozen of them). My out-of town guests were happy; one has allergies and appreciated the accurate listing of the ingredients. This place has great vibes. Atmosphere is chill. I love all the different seating options. From booth, to outdoor sitting. I gave it a 3 star because service was less than ideal. My date and I had to flag down the server several times to get her attention. Something I'm not a fan off. Water was not replenished frequently. I understand restaurants are hurting and need workers.m so that's why my review was not more harsh. The Food: Not pictured here I had the Duck. It tasted good. I think that's the one I liked the best. Pork belly next, tuna taco and then calamari. The soft shell crab tasted like it had imitation crab mixed in. So for now I won't comment on it. The mango itself is underripe. The cream on top is too salty when it would be better if it were more creamy and a tad sweet. The tempura was excellent; however, the sauce can be more potent. Our favorite sushi spot for the past few years. It's so fresh and delicious. Lately the big hit in the house has been the ginza volcano roll. If you go there to eat, they have fishbowls so bring a friend and drink up! We've gotten takeout once or twice a week for the past few months, and eaten outside a couple times too. And it came with miso soup and a scoop of ice cream - green tea or ginger. Service was friendly. Dollar oyster sham!! I went here for lunch after receiving a mailer that advertised dollar oysters every day from 2 to 630. The mailer is dated July, 2017. When we got there, there was a sign on the door advertising the same deal, which was great! We ordered the oysters and some sushi, then were informed initially that the oysters were not available due to "health department issues," then proceeded to take down the sign on the door. We took that face value and enjoyed our meal. I will say that the sushi was very good, which is why I won't give them one star. After we paid, we asked when the dollar oysters would be available again and were told that they need a special licence to serve raw shellfish which they don't currently have and aren't sure when they'll get one. So, not only did they send out a false advertisement around this deal, they also had in-store signage advertising a deal they could not honor. I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and maybe their license is being temporarily suspended or something, but they knew that they could not honor the deal before I placed my order and before they hung the sign on the door this morning. It's also worth noting that they give out gift cards to people who leave positive reviews. Saying this, it was my first time there and while the experience was less than stellar, I would be willing to give them another chance if this false advertising issue was just a misunderstanding. read more
