Yea... sooo after a night of the Boston Pops, great friends, and a bit of booze, the man and I decided it was in our best interest to find some place to spend the night considering it was a 2 and a half hour drive home. It was about midnight on a Saturday and we called about 20 different places before hitting the jackpot (*cough*) with the Econo-Lodge. On the plus side, they are located right off the Pike, and was easy to find. We parked the car, and walked in. The hallways smelled like cat piss, and the room was tidy. For the first night way from the baby, I slept like a log... probably because I was exhausted, and not because it was cozy. The man showered the next morning (I decided to wait until we got home). Got all the way home, and he realized he left his chain behind. We called about a dozen times... they couldn't find it. Which translates into someone couldn't find it..... In their own pocket. *sigh* Whatever. Now I know what to get him for Christmas. read more

The good: Right next to an awesome 50's diner. Right off the Mass Pike. Nice outdoor pool and many 1st floor rooms open right out onto the pool area. Staff are pretty nice. The bad: It's kinda a dumpy, frumpy, funky smelling place. Wouldn't describe it as scary... but yeah, not cozy either. Don't stay here if you can afford better, seriously. Certainly don't stay here if it's more than one or two nights. Beds are hard. Hotel runs out of hot water some mornings. Smells like mold. There's a hotel employee who sits in the breakfast room every morning staring at people eat. I think he's there to make sure no one "steals" breakfast food. Creepy. read more

I have to agree with a few points on other reviews. The 3 out of 6 hallways did have a strong smell of urine and gym socks. The other hallways had a light scent of that same odor but the masking of air freshener was fighting hard to do it's job, and almost winning. We had 2 rooms, they were adjoining. One room had 2 double beds and the other room had a King size with a pull out sofa. The floors did have large areas of dark, sticky "residue". I was unable to determine what it was. The mattress on the King size bed honestly should have been replaced a long time ago. It sagged so badly that without even sitting on it, you could see the sides of the mattress folding in on itself. The beds in the other room however, were actually very comfortable. The water in the shower would turn to ice cold to scalding hot, literally, with no warning at all and the hot water in the sink was scalding hot all the time. There was also a very strong taste and smell of chlorine in the water, I wondered if that had something to do with the dump being within a rocks throw of the hotel. Either way I opted for bottled water for the remainder of my stay. There was an employee in the breakfast room which was a little uncomfortable, it appears as though they were there to keep the food stocked but instead of laying out 12 pancakes at a time, why not put a whole bunch of them out, which is why I would also be led to believe the employee is to monitor the taking of food back to your room. They laid the food out in a clear airtight display box thing. It looked nice, but not very practical as it could only fit a few of what they offered. It also appeared as though that was all the food they had because they were in no rush to restock the food when it got low or ran out. It was like it was an attempt to make people think that was all the quantity they had in an attempt to discourage us from taking much food. They offered pancakes that had to be microwaved, mini blueberry and corn muffins, white bread for toast and generic English muffins ( they were not Thomas by any means). They offered 2 cereals: Corn Flakes and Cheerios and Coffee. There was a juice machine that was out of order so I asked the worker if there was anything to drink. She said, I guess I could try to make some juice. Wow. Let's put it this way, my 4 year old wouldn't drink the juice because it was so watered down it really was gross. I wouldn't drink it either. I saw her keep adding water into the container to make it full, I wondered why she just didn't make it as directed??? Could they really be that cheap?? One of the reviews, posted in October the previous year from my post, stated they had a nice outdoor pool. They do have a nice outdoor pool and patio area, however the pool is closed, and has been for the 3rd year and counting. I know this because I asked the front desk about the pool. It's a shame especially seeing as how their website advertises a pool as well as a playground for the kids, which is not even there either. Most of the employees were friendly, however there was one in particular that was very rude and made me very uncomfortable. I took a muffin and 2 microwavable pancakes up to my husband who stayed with the baby in the room. He stopped me and said, very loudly, that I was breaking the rules and he was going to have to document this! I couldn't believe it. There was nothing hanging up in the breakfast room saying we couldn't take food with us, and the employee in the breakfast room didn't say anything either. I was very embarrassed and offended, and to make matters worse, he made me leave the food and he took it away. So he either threw it away and just wasted it or he put it back for someone else to eat, very unsanitary. Of course that was on a Sunday, so there was no management on site. On a Saturday night, we were awoken at about 5am to our room shaking from a drunk person pounding on the windows and doors. It woke my kids up. It was very loud, it rattled our room. As far as security goes, that is a laugh. All the exterior doors around the building are fitted with the magnetic door locks that need a key to be opened, yet none of them work. So anybody can walk in at any time. There is a security guard and he is adamant about doing his job because he was eavesdropping at someones door. We walked in and caught him with his ear pressed up against it and when he heard us he quickly walked off. That is my experience. Maybe we caught them on an off week, IDK. But there are somethings like the pool and playground, they haven't been there in years, yet they still advertise for it. The lousy cheap breakfast. The saggy furniture. The rude employee. I stay in hotels about 100 nights a year. This one is one of the worst. It smelled like a cross between an ash trey, urine, and something I could not quit identify. The bed was tiny and uncomfortable. I made the mistake off my shoes, my socks stuck to the carpet, and turned black. I was approached by a prostitute in the parking lot. Don't get me started on the breakfast, I tried to pick up a beagle with the tongs, and it was so soggy it just fell apart. The coffee was horrible, and the milk was sour. This place should be condemned! The first room which was non smoking, smelled like an old wet ashtray. I got a 2nd room, it was a little better. I had to go get a bottle of ferbreez and empty it into the air conditioner. It didn't help. So, I bought 3 car scent trees. I put 2 in the air conditioner, & hung 1 on the lamp next to my head. The bed linens were tore up, mattresses all had a hughe sag in them. Good will wouldn't even except their furniture. I had to put a plastic bag over the tv remote. I also put the plastic bags from the wonderful cups over the sink handles. A hand towel that was supposed to be clean had a blood stain on it. A bath towel that was supposed to be clean had feces stains on it. This is the WORST place I've ever been in. I booked 2 nights, but after I found the nasty towels, I demanded my $ back for the 2nd night. The front desk clerk was rude to me. The rest of the staff looked like they reside under a bridge or in a crack house. DO NOT STAY HERE! read more
