However, this morning, I find myself meeting a team member from JMV Tree Service, who is a licensed arborist and very professional, and I asked him if he could remove a few trees for me. He said yes and once he saw the project and its scope, he told me he could complete the project in a few hours. Then about 30 minutes later, he sent a crew. (It's all in the timing)!! To my amazement, they removed all of it while I was at work and they did such a fantastic job. I wish I did it months ago because this tree has been bothering me and dropping things in my backyard and it was driving me crazy. Absolutely bonkers... so much so, I bought a leaf blower because this tree was making such a mass every day on the deck. And in just a couple hours and for a very fair price, Jonathan and his team at JMV Tree Service did a fine job and made it very easy for me. Yes, I will keep them in my contacts for help with my trees in the future. I'm glad my neighbor introduced us and I am very grateful because they know their stuff and they did a great job. We had Jose from Vega's Tree Service out to look at some dying hedges and chose to have them plant…read morereplacements. Jose and his crew did a good job. Based on that job, we had Jose come back to price planting of sago palms and trimming trees/bushes/hedges. His price sounded good so we scheduled a one-day job for the work. On the scheduled Tuesday, a crew of three arrived (but not Jose to lead the work). We had to explain to the lead what we wanted done (same as we had explained to Jose before). The lead did not appear to understand us completely. The lead even FaceTimed with Jose for clarification. Apparently, that didn't make it any clearer for the lead...as evidenced by the crew's work. During the first three hours, the crew only managed to plant the sago palms...half of them planted too deep in depressions. They ran out of soil. The lead found a bag on my property and asked if they could use it. After I told him no, he used it anyway and said he misunderstood me. One guy also had to leave to buy more soil for the sagos. After I complained to Jose, the crew provided a replacement bag of soil. The crew trimmed the palm trees and hedges ok. They, however, botched the rest of their work. They butchered the bushes, fruit trees and other trees. They only completed about have the work and didn't cleanup at the end of their day...saying they'd be back on Friday. We feel it is unacceptable for them to have left the job site in such a state...even if they planned to return. The crew also broke a yard lantern. Not sure if we can get a replacement. We cancelled their Friday return and only paid them for the work completed. We are not satisfied with either the partial job done or the price charged for that partial job. It's crap. Vega Tree Service clearly had a more important job elsewhere and sent an inexperienced/subpar lead and crew to do our job. Poor customer service. We will not be using Vega's Tree Service again. We also cannot recommend them to other customers.

I was amazed how much manual worked done removing one of the stump. All of them got routine to do, and I was able to go around and asked to cut some more of this and that. I provided some water and soda coz it was getting hotter. I did some little sweeping after they left and they used my green bin for some of the leaves,in which understandable which is okay by me. I had a mixed experience with Alejandro over the 6-8 months I worked with him. While he was…read moregenerally responsive and made lots of promises, he misrepresented himself as an arborist when I needed one for tree root pruning around a sidewalk permit with the City of Oakland. Alejandro only told the truth after we had gathered a big 10-person crew of my general contractor's team, the city inspector and whole concrete team ready to pour the sidewalk. With all these men looking to him for approval as the arborist, he buckled and admitted he wasn't a "certified arborist" but a "licensed arborist." We were all dumbfounded. This colossal waste of time cost me several thousand dollars more from a two week delay and extra man hours over Xmas, when Alejandro left a big safety hazard of sharp nails, overturned plywood, and a mess of wood chips on the sidewalk that another crew had to manage when he was a no-show on the cleaning part. At least he did actually prune the roots after he found a real "certified arborist" to replace him. He did cut back the tree branches just fine. But If you need anything more official than a tree haircut, I don't recommend you choose Alejandro.

Chris dumped wood chips at my house after we were connected by ChipDrop. This is meant to be…read moremutually beneficial: arborists dump chips for cheap and gardeners get free chips. Chris drove the dump truck, loaded with 14 cubic yards, directly over pavers that my friends and I painstakingly prepped and placed, despite there being plenty of obviously non-paver driveway. His driving error upended my pavers and even broke some of them. Then, driving off of the pavers (over the edge of my driveway) then back up over the driveway again to line up the truck messed up the _driveway_ too. All he said was that he didn't see the footpath and that I could get use glue on one of the broken pavers; no apologies, no offer to make things right, just griping about how he wished he could have gotten rid of the chips sooner because they were already decomposing in the truck (he had called ahead with urgency that it would be inconvenient for him to arrive in the afternoon like he planned, so I was trying to accommodate him arriving in the middle of one of my appointments with 20 minutes notice). Obviously this review isn't for tree service. However, both professionalism and machine operation are--I dare presume--integral parts of the arborist business and probably important to you too as a customer. Chris showed aptitude in neither in his work on my property and I can't recommend his business Tree Mechanics.

They had a near perfect rating and were praised by pleased clients. After contacting Juan, he came over almost immediately to provide a quote. I wanted to update my high maintenance, overgrown front yard with low maintenance, drought tolerant plants and pavers. Juan listened to my ideas and provided his own useful knowledge. They were the right group for the job! Shortly afterwards, I also met Michael, the Project Manager. He and Juan manage several work teams that we got to see in action over the next several months. Workers were here religiously 5-6 days a week; usually starting around 9am and working usually until after 5pm in good weather and bad. The teams work incredibly hard and are extremely skilled in all facets of yard construction. Any concerns or glitches were met by almost immediate response by JV, whether or not the request came during the course of the work day. I was extremely impressed when Michael came by late one evening during pouring rain to clear water backing up onto the street and sidewalk due to equipment left at the curb. Near the completion of my front yard, I started to talk with Juan and Michael about completing the backyard and sides as well. They continued the pavers from the front with a backyard patio and paths on the sides. My old redwood deck was replaced with a composite deck and wood pergola, artificial grass, maintenance shed and complete lighting. Roxanne, their plant specialist, listened to my plant suggestions and designed a yard full of interesting plants to meet my requirements. Even though the job is now complete, JV wants to make sure customers remain satisfied. Many of my new plants were planted during the winter, and as I live in a frost zone, I was unsure of what would survive the winter. I'm pleased to say that only one type of flower planted in the front yard appears to be struggling, but Michael has already said they would be replaced if they didn't survive until spring. It's that type of customer follow through that makes JV Gardening amongst the best in their field. Now that my whole job is complete, I'm very happy that I used JV for the job. I truly think I made the best decision by hiring them!
