This review is specifically for the CHaRM (Center for Hard to Recycle Materials) center that we visited today but I have used other parts of their system in the past too. We had several pieces of tech accessories to dispose of, outdated and mostly not working either. They were taking up space we needed to clear. We took them out to this facility, near several other facilities they operate. Good website with lots of directions and maps and fee scale. It was easy to find, followed directions out there and turned out to be easier than expected, early on a weekday. There is a fee for entering but only $3.00 and it is added to your bill if you have to pay any fees for what you bring in. We took several pieces for which there was a fee but it is very reasonable at $0.59 per pound and they do not weigh any of the accessory cables. Our pile of an old printer, a flat bed scanner and a wireless router came to only 24 pounds. We will be back another time with a few things that need their hard drives erased beforehand and I believe most of these devices are free to recycle. I will also use the Hazardous Household Recycle location again which I have used more frequently in the past for old paints and yard and household chemicals that are outdated, etc. That location is a block north of this one. It's nice to have a local community facility that will responsibly dispose of these objects. They also provide an option for bulk items, like cardboard, block rigid foam, scrap metal etc. A lot of those are free also. I suspect they are pretty busy on Saturdays and they are not open on Sundays. Better than sending this stuff to a landfill and will accommodate things than cannot go out in curbside residential recycling. We have done the curbside for decades, as long as it has existed in Boulder. read more

I'm a huge fan of Eco-Cycle and all they do to support our beautiful community. From recycling and composting to presence at local events they always have their best foot forward. I've actually had the pleasure to be on the "green team" at Hanuman Yoga Festival for a couple of years as a volunteer. They educated us in a helpful and encouraging way so we could assist event attendees in properly compost, recycle, and discard with care. Contained within it's substantial walls is CHaRM (Center for Hard-to -recycle materials). Here you can properly hand off anything from a fax machine, to paint, to a yoga mat! The cost is often determined by weight so you can feel good letting go of those challenging items without breaking the bank or feeling bad putting it in the regular garbage. Every interaction I have had at their facility or volunteering under their guidance has been a pleasure. I look forward to doing some spring cleaning and visiting Eco-Cycle with items that aren't quite fit for donation. read more

5 stars because they accept the most difficult things to recycle - fire extinguishers, styrofoam blocks and so much more. 1 star docked because one of their truck drivers turned right on red at Ken Pratt and Martin Rd today (4-22-2022) at approximately 10:55am and into the far left lane, forcing me to slam at the brakes in a 55 mph zone. I happened to be going 50. Did he have to turn right on red? Nope. Did he have to turn into my lane? Nope. There were 3 other open lanes he could have picked. The picture doesn't include the license plate but I'm sure you can figure out which driver this was since I gave you time, date, and location. read more

I love this place! Easy to use - and I always leave feeling like I did a good thing by keeping stuff out of the landfill.

I love Eco-Cycle & CHARM. I hate seeing stuff end up in the trash bin and headed to the landfill. Eco-Cycle provides an alternative to that. I hope more people use their services. read more

Dropped off two big flat panel TVs. Easy breezy. Cost me $55 for the two, but i couldn't find anywhere else to take them. Maybe i didn't look hard enough. Anyhow. Four stars for ease. Would have been 5 stars if it was free or cheaper... or if they would have given me a soda or water or whiskey for $55. read more

I hate throwing out anything that can be recycled or donated to charity. Last week the blocks of Styrofoam, boxes of plastic grocery bags, scrap metal, broken computers and clothes to donate stashed in the garage got on my husband's last nerve so we packed up and made a trip out to CHaRM. We always feel like we've gone down the wrong street, because the center is so far down the road with mediocre signage; but when you pull up to the little drive-thru style window the folks are always so friendly and happy to see you recycling that you forgive them immediately for your moment of feeling lost. We recycled the assorted collection from our garage for free (except the computer which had a very small fee, like $8) and were told of another place nearby , ReSource 2000, where we could recycle the reusable things from our home renovation. (Check out their website for lots of great recycling tips: What you can recycle, how to reduce your junk mail, lots of fascinating recycling facts., etc) This little trip to recycle things that many people would have thrown away gave me big warm fuzzies and, if there is such a thing, some serious bonus karma points. read more

I LOVE Eco-Cycle. We just had a zero-waste party, thanks to them. They sell biodegradable plates, glasses, utensils, etc, and supply you with a compostables bin that you fill and take back to them. It was so cool! Also, we like taking all sorts of things to their Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials (CHaRM). This place is crazy Boulder Eco-recycling at its most organized and environmental! Drive your big truck or regular car right up to drop off all your hardest items to recycle from TV's to cardboard. They roll your right through to the appropriate bin for your item. They accept everything from toilets to computers. It's kinda amazing! read more

You're better off going to Best Buy. They recycle electronics and don't charge you an arm and a leg. $.49/lb adds up pretty quickly. Won't be going back there, that's for sure. read more

Went to eco charm , where you go behind the building now to recycle electronics, used to be at Western Disposal and free to the public. Now a pretentious dude sits in the drive thru// He was rude and didn't want to hear what I had to say, he was completely un aware that this was moved from Western Disposal to the new location.. He completely misunderstood my statement about WD being free and had a really bad and I am better than thou attitude.. Needless to say I wont be going there. Who wants a pretentious asshole to give you an attitude when trying to accomplish a task? read more
