kind of a selective place in terms of who they will help…read more was sent there by utilities dept. to get my utilities turned back on. I'm a disabled senior w cancer and heart issues. got there, they tell you you'll be called in 24 hours, they will not help you when you actually need it. had to borrow money, to get turned back on, still cold Wes. talked to them the next day, they said since I " self" resolved and was turned on( but only for a few days) I'd have to make an appointment, and probably wouldn't get one for weeks. the week before a friend told me they helped her imediately, paid utilities to get it turned in, literally days before this happened to me. they said they had no connection to Social Sevices, but when I went in there, they had my name address and everything else on a computer and I've never been there before. Doesn't seem like these people really help someone who needs help. So the moral of the story is if you borrow money that you have to pay back within like 24 hours or something to get your utilities turned on so you don't freeze they won't help you. you have to make an appointment and wait weeks to get help but some people walk in and just catch help right away. Sad and I felt discriminated against.

Wow, I've read some really petty situations getting some people upset on Yelp, that's a shame and…read morereally the complaints are from someone who's upset... Hey, they can help you in so many ways - focus on the positive! What OUR Center does for those in need of several basic necessities. Sometimes things that are more complicated take a bit longer to sort out. OUR Center is really a a doing a very difficult job in offering resources to those who need help. Many of the people who make OUR Center function are the volunteers who selflessly donate their time, strength and knowledge as well as so many people in the community at large and local grocery stores that donate food and hygiene items that the clients in OUR Center go home with. The OUR Center staff are then able to help with other, more complex challenges - AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE! And sometimes OUR Center goes through shortages of some items, just know that they also know about it and are doing their best to get that item ... especially during the pandemic! OUR Center require that you become registered as a client. You cannot just walk in and walk out without some paperwork and counseling. OUR Center is NOT a religious organization, but respects all religions and all people (who behave like normal humans - I mean, come on!). Breakfast and lunch is served most day - call to confirm. Groceries are allotted with a point system based on you family number. For the grocery, you must call to get an appointment and be an OUR Center client. You will be able to pick out what you want based on availability of donations, the volunteers hard work, the Center's ability to store items for their clients (they have an expensive building with a kitchen, dining area, warehouse, and client shopping area, and a clothing closet, and offices). The community closet has re-opened after COVID restrictions and thanks to the people at large who donated (and continue to donate) clothing, clients are now able to apply for clothing point/dollars. The clothing is in great shape, often brand new, and displayed in a nice, organized, clean atmosphere. They also have some kitchen items for those "just starting-out. The cost maximum is $2/2 points per item (insanely low!). They select only the best donations to pass on to their clients and at this time, clients who see the representative, can shop every 3 months. There is so much more to OUR Center! Be positive, let them help you, and be realistic about the time table, this isn't a magic show!

Some places you visit and leave unchanged. Luvin Arms isn't one of them…read more Spring Fest 2026 was my first time at the sanctuary in Erie, and I wasn't fully prepared for how much it would stay with me. The event itself -- free admission, local vendors, food trucks, live music drifting across an open field -- had an easy, unhurried energy that felt genuinely community-built rather than produced. People were there because they wanted to be, and it showed. What set it apart was the heart behind all of it. The volunteers and staff were warm, knowledgeable, and clearly devoted -- not just to the event but to the animals whose stories they shared with anyone who'd listen. And those stories land. Each resident has a history, and hearing even a few of them reframes the whole visit. You stop seeing animals and start seeing individuals. The vendor village was thoughtful and local -- the kind of lineup that reflects actual values rather than whoever paid for a booth. The music kept the atmosphere light without overshadowing the real draw. Best for anyone who appreciates community events with genuine purpose -- families, solo visitors, people who want to spend an afternoon somewhere that means something. Luvin Arms earns its reputation quietly, and Spring Fest is a beautiful entry point.

The animals were all so sweet, the staff were helpful and clearly loved working there, and our Tour guide was very informative. Keep up the good work! If you need some animal time, please check this place out. Even consider volunteering, if you can.
