After taking in way too many carbs, I needed some yummy coffee. After a quick search on yelp, and passing over the biggest coffee chain, I came across this place. My cousin and I walked toward it and you can smell that amazing coffee aroma. They have your basic coffee needs, as well as some interesting mixes. I went with a cafe au lait w/ almond milk. My cousin ordered the Mayan latte w/ almond milk and loooooved it. I love that they have organic coffee. I saw some teas and some food items too. It's a little pricey but it's good coffee. It's a very cute coffee shop with great tasting drinks. I definitely prefer its rich coffee taste over Starbucks. So far I've tried the toffee caramel iced latte, mint chocolate frapp, neopolitan frap, green tea frap, mayan mocha frap, and dirty chai latte with coconut milk. It's a bit on the pricier side but well worth it. I'm glad to have found a coffee shop to my liking. Friendly staff, and the mango green tea is delicious. Just a tad sweet from the mango with a hint of Jasmine. What a nice little treasure we've found in Eco Coffee. Great ethos, coffee and people! I've tried the Horchata Mocha and the Mayan Chocolate Mocha. Both are amazing! I've met Peter, Angie and Jacquline, and they're all really nice. It's inspiring to see young entrepreneurs making a go at it in such an original way. My wife and I love the Peruvian cookies. The Smarter Cookies are a wonderful healthy eats that taste great. Eco's not in my neighborhood, but I'll be back. read more

An absolute must frequent! I just started working in the local area yesterday. I went to lunch with my colleagues and drove by "Eco Coffee", the name itself automatically caught my attention...I said "That is where I will get my coffee from tomorrow morning!" I love this place! I get my coffee fix before work every morning, I work a few shops down from it. The whole staff is super friendly and down to earth. The coffee is hands down the best I've had. So, let me start with the great stuff about Eco Coffee: 1) The vibe. It has this great Bohemian feel without it being totally in your face. They also have outlets for all your laptop charging needs. 2) The drinks. Delicious, some totally original. Shots always pulled correctly. Now, for the reason I was compelled to leave a review. Yes, I feel a little guilty about this, but here it goes anyway: I have been going to Eco Coffee for about a year but not regularly. Usually the service is great, but I stress the usually here. I am not a rude person to the point that if my drink is a little wrong, I just let it slide. I take it, and I move on, especially if they are busy. People make mistakes. I was a barista for two years; I get it. So what happened is this: I am sitting inside with my friends, and I go up to the front counter to order mine. My one friend hops in line behind me. One of the owners is working the register. She takes my order just before a shift change. My friend then places her order. No big deal. So the new barista is there (to my dismay, as you'll soon see why), and she is making drinks in the back. I know this means it will take an extra few minutes to be ready, but I am just hanging out and in no rush. My friend's drink comes up. I'm not worried. I keep watching the table. The person after her in line gets his drink. More people come in and order their drinks; they get theirs. 15ish minutes go by. The barista is now not making any beverages, so I walk the short distance to the front. "Excuse me, I think I might have gotten skipped." "Skipped?" "My drink never came up," I explain. "Oh. Someone must have taken it." Someone did not take it, but I keep this fact to myself. She looks confused. I stand there awkwardly for a few seconds. She looks like she's about to tell me that I will have to pay again or something. I'm not sure. Either way, she looks put out. Unhappy. Unhappy that I could be so oblivious to have missed my drink. Which I didn't. "What was it?" she finally asks. "A blended white chocolate mo--" "Oh," she says, cutting me off, but now she won't look me in the eyes. Then, "Yeah, I made that. Someone must have taken it." Now, I'm not a mind reader, so I'll leave it to your discretion, but I was watching the counter and my friend was watching for her drink as well, and my drink was never on the table. So, the barista is either confused or lying straight to my face, and it really felt like the latter, so I am not very happy at this point. "What was it again?" She drifts away from the register. "A blended white chocolate mocha with--" But she's already gone, off towards the espresso machine. She turns it on before I can finish. "I'll make you a large," she shouts over the noise. I can't drink a large (I can take two shots max without flying off the walls), but at that point I'm like, whatever. My friends can have it or something. And I'm peeved that she wouldn't even let me finish my order OR look down at the paper that my order was originally written on. So then it comes up. I tell her, "thank you," and take a sip. It clearly has half-and-half in it, which I didn't want, and if she had just listened to me, she would have known this. If she had just looked at the sheet of paper the other woman wrote my order on, she would have known this. If this was a one time thing, I would have let it pass, but I have had repeatedly bad service with this particular barista to the point that if I see her working through the window, I just keep walking. The time before this, I was the only customer in the store, and, after repeatedly trying to convince me to try almond, soy, and coconut milk, which I politely declined several times, it took her 20 minutes to make my drink. In the time she spent talking to some guy over the counter, I would have gladly hopped over the counter and made it myself. A time before this, she disappeared for a good 20 minutes, and although I had my drink, customers came in and left, and I had to be the one to explain that she had gone out somewhere. She could have just been in the front of the store or in the storeroom. I don't know. But it shouldn't be my job to know. She has been rude to me on more than one occasion. She always tries to get me to try this or that or something she made up and makes it so it feels like I can't say no then waits expectantly for me to praise her. Maybe I'm just crazy; maybe I'm making a bigger deal out of this than it really is. But today I felt like she thought I was trying to snag a free drink, like I was the rude one, but I was truly and honestly being nothing but nice. I don't understand why she couldn't have just said, "I'm sorry. I'll make it for you now." Is that really too much to ask for? I guess it is. (Pity. I would have given it 5 stars without her.) read more

My husband and I moved to Lakewood this year. Last week, I yelped near by organic coffee shops and this one caught my attention. So, we went and ordered. He had a strawberry, mango, banana smoothie and a basil and tomato bagel sandwich. I had a mocha latte with an extra shot of espresso. Oh and an avocado and egg bagel sandwich. Oh my goodness! This is a really awesome local coffee/tea spot! They have lots of great drinks, I always order from their specials. Their Horchata Latte, Mexican Hot Chocolate Latte, and London Fog are unique and very tasty. What really impresses me is their attention to detail including using organic coffee and recycled materials cups. All of their drinks can be made with organic soy, almond, even coconut milk. But I can not bypass this opportunity to point out that I've had one of the best cup of coffee at eco coffee. I ordered the medium Horchatta latte and it was spot on! Before Eco coffee came in the picture, there use to be a Dippin Dots ice cream shop. I love ice cream but they went out of business because most people prefer there ice cream without dots. When I try Eco coffee when they first open, there coffee tastes so fresh that it made difference comparing to Starbucks and Coffee bean. I enjoyed having coffee at Eco Coffee. Everyone is very friendly and I've put a couple of my art pieces up on display for a couple of months during the Christmas holidays. Eco coffee made an agreement to keep my pieces on display until takedown after the holidays. I did manage to get my greeting cards to be sold close to the Christmas holiday. Went in for the first time today cause I was close by. I had just recently tried coffee with sweetened almond milk, it was delish. What brought me in was the pictures on yelp and the menu. Prices are super reasonable. The decor is cute and the menu is very simple but it has an assortment of drinks. I got the regular coffee with almond and it was quite tasty. I like how they use organic beans. It's not watered down at all. I'll come back and try the horchata latte the next time I'm in town. Definitely reminds me of San Francisco. I love it! read more

A very cool coffeeshop at the corner of Carson and Bellflower. In my first visit I tried the chai tea ice blended with Almond Milk, upon recommendation of the staff. I enjoyed it as it was creamy and filled with the right spices. The next time I visited I opted for a regular lemon tea, which was good as well. Next time I hope to try the Mexican Hot Chocolate. The coffee shop itself is very cool, almost has a Latin vibe with the artwork and music presented here. The staff is also very nice and friendly. This is hard, but I feel like I have to. I always try to support local. Especially local coffee shops. They serve true bean, which is great! The service, however is hit or miss. Mostly miss. The last three times I've gone, I've had really poor service. I keep trying, but I think the staff needs training. A few months ago I got an Iced Americano and the barista was really sweet, but she put the water and shots in the cup and then realized she didn't have enough room for ice, so she dumped some of the water/espresso mixture out to make room. I ended up with a really watery Americano. I took a break and went back this weekend and ordered two coffees. The lady who rang me up forgot about the coffee, which is an honest mistake. No biggie. However, when I finally got the two "coffees," they were def americanos. The barista still called them coffees when he gave them to me, but I can tell the difference. I wish he would have asked if it was ok for him to give me americanos instead of coffee. Then I went back the next day to get an iced tea, they forgot to make the tea... I ended up changing my mind and getting it hot, but it was just another disappointment in service. The tea was really good, though. The product is mostly great, but when it's not made properly, it really sucks. With some extra training and consistency, this would be a favorite! read more
