We visited this restaurant on2/17/17 but our experience was so bad that I held on to the receipt to make sure that I write a review and yes it took this long for me to create an account and finally write the review. I am not sure if they were short staffed but it took so long for us to get our food and on top of that it was so little for what you pay. The restaurant is very expensive and it was not worth it. It's a beautiful restaurant with beautiful view but the service was not great at all and I was understanding of the waiter since it looked like she was the only one working there but the wait time was outrageous. read more

Can't beat the beachfront setting, ambient low lighting or the friendly family pets that come around to visit the tables. But the service is slow and the food average, so rather than go for a meal, aim to relax with a sunset cocktail or glass of chilled wine - gorgeous! In an area where internet is still sketchy post-Maria, the hotel also has reliable wifi so that's another good reason to make a stop at this hotel resto. read more

Worst restaurant we have ever been when you consider the prices they charge. We had reservations for 8 pm. We got a table around 8:45pm and were able to place order at 9:10 pm only to be told 5 minutes later that one of the orders (from the day's menu) was out. The first starter dish, also from the day's menu, showed up at 9:40PM. You really need to try hard to be that bad! Main courses finally arrived, perhaps around 10PM. One of them, osso bucco, was cold inside, but cooked. It was evident it had been cooked days before and they failed to even warm it up properly in the microwave. Unbelievable. When I asked to see the chef, he only sent his business card with his apologies and invited us for dinner some other day to "compensate" us. Since I got lightly sick of my stomach from the two bites at the meat, I am not ever going back there, not even if they pay me to try. The setting is lovely. The table we sat at was only some 25 ft from the sea and it was a perfect full moon night. What a waste! From reading other reviews, the hotel side is just as bad. This place definitely could make a great hotel and restaurant, but it is obvious the management haven't got a clue how to run this kind of business. The staff was very experienced in apologizing and facing up upset customers. Evidently it is the same poor performance every day. To top it all, a beer and a glass of wine cost the same we had paid for a good lunch for two (with imported beers) that same day at another restaurant, also just feet away from the sea line. Just had great dinner at this hidden gem- well not so hidden if you are staying at Villa Montana. Fish special was outstanding, staff was friendly and professional, and the location and atmosphere can't be beat. They have power here, but it is still out in some nearby areas, and this part of the island - like much of PR as a whole it appears -- is hurting from lack of tourism. So consider staying in this area as an alternative to San Juan, even if things are not fully back to normal. And I have been to the Eclipse in prior years when service can be slow because the restaurant is full- sadly for them, that was not the case tonight. read more

Nice place on the beach. Unfortunately we had a terrible waiter that ruined our first and only visit. He could not speak English well and as a result had a very difficult time explaining the choices that were available to us. I ended up ordering from the menu and the dish was not what I expected. I could not eat it and thank god my wife ordered pizza so I could at least have something. The waiter offered to take the meal off of the check. The $32 meal was left on the check. We ate here twice for lunch. We ordered the fish sandwich and our waitress brought out a fish fillet instead then spent the first minute insisting that was the order. The menu was pulled out and we were right. Since this dish was $3 more, I was irritated that she didn't offer it to us for the same price. I had to ask several times for that; also, finally she agreed to bring bread and fries so we could reconstruct a sandwich. I should have sent it back, but I hated to see it thrown out when it could easily be resandwiched. The brioche on the menu had sounded so good that I still wanted it :). They eventually took off our iced tea so at least we only paid 25 cents extra for their mistake. The other male waiter who had not made the mistake was in training and was really nice and accomodating. He remembered us on our second trip and completely redeemed our experience!!!!! The fish and bread were delicious!!! Our second day we had the pizza with prosciutto which I rate a 10 and husband rated a 7. With their olive oil and parmesan, mmmmmmm. Desserts are not their forte. Presentation was beautiful, but the chocolate warm cake lacked substantial chocolate flavor and being an avid baker I believe that their chocolate is not a good brand. I thought that an ice cream not an icy sorbet would be a much better pairing. I would not order another dessert there but would recommend the food! read more

Pretty horrible service initially given by the hostess, our waitress was very attentive and professional, so made up for that. The food was amazing, and excellently presented. It is a little pricey, but the ambiance, perfect sunset view, and great wait staff made it worth the price. Their drink menu was pretty next level. read more

Went for unlimited mimosa brunch. There mimosas were all orange juice, even when I asked for less numerous times. The food was ok, not great. But I will continue to come back here for the beautiful view and beach! read more

This review is so overdue! Don't be discouraged of it is very busy and have to wait for a table. It's totally worth it. From the very well trained waitstaff and always smiling person at the entrance, this place is a true getaway from ordinary. The wine list is remarkable. Great wine selection! But even their homemade sangria is delicious. Love the fish tacos. We always order a couple of pizzas as appetizer. Crispy crust with the freshest stuff on top. The sweetest tomatoes (I bet they are locally grown) and real cheeses! Never soggy which happens most times when they overwhelm the crust with watery stuff. Salads are again crisp and fresh with the right amount of condiments. The seafood is totally fresh. They don't have a lot of fish on the menu (lots of meat) but it's because they only offer what was caught. And you better order before it runs out. I don't eat meat but my friends and family adore the churrasco that comes with like a calzone stuffed with cheese and veggies (I always beg for a bite of it). I try to eat here as often as possible but again, sometimes they are fully booked or its just too packed. Homemade flan, cake and sherbets that I always make space for. They always make us feel special and they take a lot of pride in what they serve. It's obvious they have a real chef in the kitchen that knows about flavors and is creative enough to keep us interested. The beautiful beach front and shabby chic decor doesn't go overlooked. Beautiful ocean front restaurant with a gorgeous view. We went there for breakfast and had an amazing brunch with mimosas. My french toast was to die for and my boyfriend's skirt steak and eggs were cooked and seasoned to perfection. Dinner was amazing, as well! However, they need better lighting at night to better enjoy the ocean view. But the food was nothing short of AMAZING i had the lamb which was so tender and juicy. I sampled a lot of food with my guests. The food was very fresh and well prepared. It is an excellent restaurant for well-prepared specialty food. I had the shell fish prepared in a Mamposteao (Puerto rican version of Paella). Let's be clear, it was not real paella because Mamposteao is not paella. The Puerto Rican version does not include a well prepared sofrito that is expected in a good Paella. The shell fish was good, but the mussels did have an off-taste. I think the off-taste (for me) was the local "taste" of mussels. I did not like it, but I can't blame the restaurant for that. My biggest complaint was the speed of service. The restaurant is part of a resort (Villa Montana), so they seem to serve at the pace that resort guests would be pleased. The setting was wonderful near the beach, and if I was on vacation I would have loved it. Since I was on business, I wanted to eat quicker and get back to my hotel to work on some proposals, but that did not happen at this restaurant. Quicker service would have increased my rating by one star. Very decent restaurant if the service was faster. read more

We checked into Villa Montana for a few days as part of our honeymoon and immediately went down to the Eclipse Restaurant to get something to eat and drink after our drive from San Juan (via Toro Verde). We were told the restaurant itself was closed (to set up for the dinner service), but that we were more than welcome to sit at the bar and have some bar snacks. We did just that, and ordered a bottle of NZ Sauv Blanc, the fish tacos, and the hummus plate. Javi (or Gavi?) was incredibly professional - he chatted just enough to make us feel welcome, but was gracious enough to give us our own space and not become overbearing or intrusive. He set up our plates and silverware very courteously, and even showed me the label of the bottle and allowed me to taste it first before pouring my wife's glass. That was a wonderful touch that I was certainly not expecting, but was very much appreciated and really made us feel as though we were in a 5 star restaurant. The food was wonderful, as well, and we enjoyed being the only people at the bar and just listening to the waves crash against the beach. Javi (or Gavi - sorry!) then told us about the evening's special, which was $15 unlimited mojitos. We of course took him up on the offer, and he then explained that he could make us any mojito we wanted - regular, strawberry, passionfruit etc., the list went on. We continued to hang out and have drinks as the evening went on, and really enjoyed our time there. We visited again several times over the course of our three night stay, and had a wonderful time each visit. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area - a wonderful restaurant. read more
