I really love this little place. There really is none other like this coffee shop. I'm torn between mentioning the coffee Or the staff first bc both are so wonderful! Everytime I visit, I'm greeted with a smile and a hello. I've had lattes and coffees, ice and hot. Their flavor selection is UNMATCHED and they have many sugar free options available as well. The prices are more than fair and I really love it bc it ensures I can afford to tip the baristas who really deserve it! The baked goods are yummy and taste homemade. This is LONG overdue!!! This coffee shop is probably one of the biggest hidden gems in Tampa and I'm honestly terrified for the day they hit Tik-Tok because they're gonna explode after that. No, but on a serious note, I do my writing at this coffee shop and have over time gotten to meet the owner and her family. Caryn & Ken, along with every single member of her staff, are absolutely amazing. They are super flexible, there are so many more options than people already realize, and it's honestly way better than any coffee I've ever had. (There's also like 100 flavors for everything? I had just finished pumping gas at Costco and decided to pull up in a parking spot and search for coffee shops around me. Sips was one of the nearby spots that Yelp suggested. I believe Sips had around 5 stars and well over 100 reviews. I had to check this place out. Getting in and out of the parking lot was easy, not to mention that they have a drive-thru as well. The interior was very "homey" and clean. The two individuals who were working there at the time couldn't have been any nicer. I ordered the iced coffee and it is made using their cold brew. The iced coffee was so good that I purchased one of the cold brew growlers to take home. The iced coffee here is what iced coffee should taste like everywhere else. It's not just the amazing coffee (that helps) its the fresh homemade baked goods, the options for people with dietary allergies, the colouring books for kids, or how the staff remembers you and always has a smile. Wow. I don't get the positive reviews. Got a burnt Lenders bagel (had to put on cream cheese myself) and a chai tea latte that was white. White because it had no damn tea in it just syrupy sweet cream. It was completely undrinkable. Wasted $6 bucks. Won't be back. read more

This is a wonderful little gem of a coffee shop, nestled at the edge of a Carrollwood shopping plaza. I came here to do some studying, and found the atmosphere to be so homey and inviting - and for the size of the cafe, there's a good amount of seating options available (although I do wish there were more plugs/outlets nearby for those with laptops!) They play old-school music (think Fleetwood Mac, the Temptations, etc.), and that was a refreshing and comforting change from the usual coffeehouse playlist! I ordered a Samoa latte, which is the delicious combo of chocolate, caramel, and coconut! I later realized it was made as a hot chocolate, so I went back to the counter and asked the owner if I could pay the difference to add some espresso - without hesitating or even asking to see the receipt, she promptly added espresso in there for me FREE of charge! She was so sweet and friendly, and that gesture made me feel very welcomed - and needless to say, that espresso MADE that drink! It was tasty before, but the addition just took it over the top - I will totally be back! P.S. They also have a drive-thru, so that's a cool little perk if you're on the go! read more

*drum roll please* I will be the very first to confess that I am not a coffee drinker. I never got used to the taste of coffee, although I do like the smell of freshly-brewed coffee. What I do enjoy is a place to visit with friends, sip a beverage of my choosing, and relax in a comfortable "homey" environment. Sips Specialty Coffee House is just such a place, located along Gunn Highway near Citrus Park. You'll find Sips in a little strip mall out in front of Super WalMart and down the block from an Amscot financial center. It's right at the intersection of Gunn and Henderson Road. Walking in the front door I had to do a double-take because I thought that I'd stepped back into my mother's kitchen. You could smell all of the wonderful scents of baked goods, along with the flavors of coffee and toppings. There were people sitting at tables, sipping their drinks, playing cards, board games, laughing, and chattering away. The decorations were definitely right in line with what my Mom would have placed around her kitchen. I had the opportunity to meet the owners, Caryn and Ken Reed, and learn a bit about their journey from Michigan to Florida, and the idea for their coffee house which opened six months ago. Very nice, down-to-earth people who are looking to provide that comfy neighborhood gathering place for people to meet up, play a game of Jenga or chess, and do a bit of networking. Oh yes, and enjoy that coffee - hot, iced, blended, frozen - you name it. The house special is Sips Mocha which is made with white chocolate, swirls of caramel, steamed milk & espresso. They have lattes and mochas and cappuccinos and espressos, fruit smoothies, hot teas, iced teas, and your regular ol' cup o' Joe. There's also a refrigerated case with fruit juices, soda, and bottled water. They have a baked goods counter with bagels, muffins and pastries, and these AMAZING homemade dark chocolate cupcakes with Reese's cups inside. YUMMMMM!!!! For those who are on the go and don't want to climb out of your car, then Sips has a drive-up, full-service window. You can get a single-serving cup, or pick up one of their containers of coffee for the office. Now one final treat -- especially for us Yelpers. Sips happens to employ the very lovely and sweet Ms. Cece C. as a barrista, and I highly encourage you to stop in and say Hi to her. Yes, I understand, there are a lot of places where you can stop for coffee, but not many places offer this type of cozy atmosphere. Okay, I'm sitting in Sips now. I was going to give it 4 stars, but then the gentleman behind the counter suggested cupcake syrup in my coffee, and he just got the 5th star. I haven't been a coffee drinker in a while - the occasional cup every now and then, but I've switched to tea. After having cupcake syrup in my coffee, I may have to switch back. If there was one negative I would give, it would have to be the size. It isn't a big place, so if they are busy, you may have trouble finding a seat. Also, the size it does have is long (as opposed to wide), so you come in the front door where there is a lot of light, but there's only 2 or 3 tables by the front. As you head back along the wall, there is less natural light. Almost none. However, I am here on a Saturday afternoon and it is not busy. The tables and chairs are all open, and I was able to grab a comfy dinette set to plant my computer. Started with an organic english breakfast tea - two tea bags for a large that only cost about $2.00. Great size for low price. Couple hours later, I switched to a medium coffee with my cupcake syrup. Just a whole lotta liquid yummies. The staff is very friendly and they seem to know everyone. Kind of wish they were closer to downtown tampa and St. Pete than all the way up here in Carrollwood/Citrus Park, or whatever you call this area, but its nice to know they are here for the occasional time I find myself around here. Big fan of Sips. Like I said, it would be nice if it was more scenic or near the water, but what a wonderful change from the madness hell that is Starbucks. EDIT about 20 minutes later - Same gentleman just gave me an extra mug of coffee. He said he found out how long the last pot had actually been out, so he wanted to give me a fresh cup. First timer today after driving past numerous times. They have a substantial menu of drinks and treats. I believe Riley served me at the drive thru and her customer service was top notch. She was patient with me and helped me through my choice. She encouraged me to try the drink before driving away and would remake if it wasn't up to par. The whole experience was above and beyond. This coffee shop has been on my list since I started yelping. Finally today after a hard workout I thought why not try some place new since I have the time and I'm feeling pretty good. It was not a bad drive to get there from racetrack road. No traffic and it is a lot closer to Citrus Park Mall than I thought. IT HAS A DRIVE THRU! Need I say more? Lol. Okay okay. I didn't use the drive thru because I wanted to have the experience, however, I think it's pretty neat that a ma & pa shop has a drive thru like most corporate coffee shops. It makes it extremely convenient to visit the shop. On the inside, the decor was very homey, quaint, and comfy. I can see myself visiting Sips when it gets a little colder and enjoying the ambiance. It was very clean, kind of small, and the associates were very welcoming. When ordering my drink, I had a few questions since it was my first time here and the cashier took the time to explain how everything worked. I appreciated that. After finding out that they have their very own specialty drinks, they told me that I was able to custom make my own with an abundance of flavors! The variety was nice and not overwhelming. This spot has become a morning staple for me! Great coffee and great service, always a winning combo. I love coffee and so far have been making my way through their offerings with all being tasty! Standout at this time is the white chocolate mocha. Not too sweet, great coffee flavor still. Found this coffee shop on my way to the dentist. I wish it was closer to home in Wesley Chapel. I had the pumpkin spice latte and salted caramel bagel with cream cheese. Both were excellent. They have an extensive coffee menu but a limited food menu. Right now they have some muffins, coffee cakes, and bagels. The only room for improvement for this wonderful coffee shop would be adding some hot breakfast sandwiches to the menu. Keep up the good work! read more
