We can always count on the food being tasty at the Eclectic Cafe. We often go there for business lunches as it's so close to our office. The portions are large, and we can often split a main with a side of soup and salad. The menu is quite varied and fits all different tastes. We always recommend it for friends that are new to the area. read more

Chorizo burrito is absolutely amazing! It's a quiet place, great patio and we love to go as often as possible! read more

We stopped by Eclectic for lunch and were very impressed with everything; the spotless patio, the warm greeting, excellent service from the bus person, and the terrific food. Best tortilla soup I've had in Tucson. The menu is huge with many choices available for those who are following a restricted diet of any type. Our server went outside to chat with a friend on the patio so another server brought our check. The bus person hurried to get the door for us and say goodbye - so impressive! read more

We love Eclectic for breakfast. They have a nicely varied menu, and everything we've tried has been delicious. The service is fast and friendly. Our favorite Sunday morning breakfast. read more

Homemade biscuits with homemade jam, great service. Everything tasted grate. Unique options for breakfast.

The stars are for very attentive and quick service, but not for the food. I came to Eclectic with several friends yesterday for brunch and ordered the Avocado Toast. While what was delivered on my plate resembled the order as described on the menu, every aspect of the food was mediocre. The plate held a small piece of flavorless whole wheat toast smeared with so little avocado (about the equivalent of a pat of butter) that you wouldn't know there was any, plus a few shavings of unidentified cheese; a pale, flavorless sliced tomato on top of a ragged piece of Romaine lettuce; a small, sliced hard-boiled egg; and a fruit cup consisting primarily of unripe canteloupe. Not worth $8.99. I expected better, having heard decent things about Eclectic. read more

This little place is always busy which should tell you something. The menu is eclectic as the name implies and I like the quiche best. Dessert is the reason I and friends go there, the flan is out of sight.. It has a good texture and comes looking like a picture on a plate. This is a comfy pleasant experience... read more

This was my first time going to Eclectic Cafe even though I grew up on the eastside and have passed by it over 5000 times. I went with my boyfriend in the early evening when it was incredibly busy. The host, who I assume was the manager, was very pleasant and to my surprise we were seated quicker than I expected. Everyone who worked there was very nice, but that is where the positives end. My boyfriend had ordered a chimichanga and got enchiladas, and I had ordered a garden burger and the bun was soaking wet. The "ranch" dressing I had ordered with my fries tasted like tzatziki sauce and it kind of weirded me out. My boyfriend's enchiladas were not seasoned and it was only after a generous helping of hot sauce that they took on flavor.I was unable to complain at the cafe because the staff was too damn nice. If they just put as much effort into their food quality as they do customer service, they would have hit the mark. It could have been because they were busy that the experience was poor, but it was bad enough for me to decide that I'm not going back. read more

Excited about trying this place because it was profiled so highly in the Tucson eating guide (within our hotel). The menu seemed promising, especially since it touted a very natural "organic" type of of cuisine. The menu selection was decent but in all honesty, the finaly product was a little disappointment. The guacomole / chips / salsa was a good start but the actual entrees were somewhat mediocre. My wife ordered some vegetable tacos, which she enjoyed after she added salt, pepper and cilantro. I had a spicy chicken with a jalapeno cream sauce, which was decent but I wouldn't rant and rave about it. So, not a bad place, but had higher expecations. read more

So happy! We were on our way up to Mount Lemmon last Sunday but the road was blocked & closed. So, we stopped in to the Eclectic Cafe for breakfast-we were so glad we did!! I had the best omelette ever & the service was great. We hadn't been there in awhile, but we won't wait so long again. Delicious! read more

We've been eating at the Eclectic Cafe since we moved to Tucson in 2013. It's always yummy and our breakfast this morning continued that trend. I had my favorite, the zucchini French toast, and my partner had the breakfast tacos. Both meals were excellent. This is definitely our 'go to' place. read more

We were in this area, so stopped in. I've heard about this place for many years, and finally had the chance to try it. I love the fact that they have a dog-friendly patio. The décor is a bit out-dated. I was surprised by the amount of regulars I saw coming in, and by the people ordering food to go. We got great service - the flavored iced teas, apricot, mango and prickly pear, were very good, and our drinks were refilled continuously. The menu speaks to the restaurants name - it truly is eclectic with the wide variety of sandwiches, salads, Mexican food etc... it's a good place to take people that have all different tastes... I ordered the cheese enchiladas and my husband got the topopo salad - both were good, and portions were huge. I had calabacitas on the side which were the best part of the meal - they were perfectly charred, so tasty! The beans were dry, and I've had better Spanish rice. The enchiladas were average - tons of cheese! I had bandera enchiladas, but you wouldn't have known it because there was so much cheese covering it all! My husband enjoyed his salad - lots of iceberg lettuce, There was a good balance of meat and cheese and beans - it could have used more toppings. We enjoyed it, but would not rush to go back... read more

So I have been unimpressed by breakfast here in Tucson. Other meals I have found many delicious options but breakfast has always been underwhelming. Well hello Eclectic Cafe and thank you for finally giving me a go to option for breakfast. First off, staff was wonderful! Everyone from the hostess, to the drink delivery person, to the waitress was friendly and welcoming. That, in itself, goes a long way. When it comes to the food, holy f do yourself a favor and get the huevos rancheros for breakfast. In their write up about it they state they serve it all day because it's so popular. I can totally taste why. Whatever the yummy red sauce it's served in, I would drink that by the bucket. So flavorful. You just can't go wrong! Btw, this was not my meal but damn I wish it was. I order the breakfast sandwich. It was eggs and spinach and cheese served on top of their housemade biscuits. Biscuits were totally undercooked :( So that kinda ruined it for me. What saved my breakfast was the potatoes and the side of bacon. The bacon was cooked perfectly and the potatoes were fantastic! Another disappointment was their pancake. I am still struggling to find a place that makes a thin, crunchy edged pancake. Maybe it's an Ohio thing. Anyway, the pancake was thin but it tasted like cinnamon. To me a turn off. All in all I do recommend this place. You can't go wrong with the service, the huevos rancheros, bacon and potatoes. I really recommend The End. read more

Eclectic Cafe - Had the Mac n Cheese, absolutely in love. Good atmosphere, soft lighting and a pretty generous selection of craft beer - New American Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

One word: Bland. Actually two words: Extremely bland. On a positive note, the food seems healthy. Not overly salty, or oily. But zero flavor. Blah! They tend to serve an older crowd, which explains the lack of flavor. Older people tend to not like any real spices. read more

Visiting Tucson, Eclectic Cafe is down the plaza from our hotel. We stopped in for lunch, they were busy, but wonderful service and prompt delivery of our food. Coffee was constantly filled. I had tuna stuffed avocado and my lunch companion had their tortilla soup. We were both very impressed...Already recommended to others!!!! read more

The best part about our visit was the backserver/busser who greeted us and promptly took our drink order. It took our actual server 10 minutes to greet us (and by greet, he literally mumbled a hello). Aside from that, after pondering numerous options on their extensive menu, we both made horrible decisions. I had a salad, and my boyfriend had a sandwich. Both were the blandest and stalest dishes we've ever had. My salad came with an avocado half still in its shell, and it was barely ripe. I asked for dressing to liven it up, needless to say it never came. It was a sad experience, considering how long we had been wanting to try Eclectic Cafe. We'll never go back. read more

We lived in Tucson more than 15 years ago and liked the Eclectic Cafe back then. After a recent visit, however, I can say that the place has changed so much that it not only isn't what we remember, it has become a place to avoid. It was busy on a Saturday afternoon, the lunch crowd was primarily older folks and some families. My wife ordered a salad with berries and I ordered a half sandwich and a cup of soup. When the cup of soup arrived, I was shocked at how small it was. My wife told me that the cup size was like the little tea cups she would use as a five year old girl in "tea parties." In two minutes, what was probably four spoonfuls of soup was consumed. My half-sandwich was equally small. It was corned beef but they "forgot" to put the mustard on it, so I had to open and apply myself. When I did that, I noticed how gross and fatty the beef was. I had to pick out the fat. Do you know how a good corned beef sandwich is about an inch or more thick with meat? Well, this one was simply one slice of corned beef. In other words, two or three bites. What a terrible, terrible value. The salad was tiny, served on a side-salad sized plate. Overly sweet dressing that tasted like High-fructose corn syrup. The berries were tasty, but the value for the salad was terrible as well. Of course, we tried telling them about these issues, but they had a "who cares" attitude. I thought it was funny when I was checking out that I was asked "How was everything?" and I told her "Terribly marginal" and she said "Happy you enjoyed it" and smiled as she handed me my change. read more

Took the girlfriend here for a date night. The place is clean and busy and the staff is very friendly, but we left a bit disappointed. We had the nachos to start, which are basically just chips with beans and cheese melted on top, and a few diced green chile pieces. Decent, but not great and not something you can't make in a couple minutes at home in the microwave. The meals were just OK- girlfriend had the tortilla soup, which looked kinda like a mess of tortilla chips sitting in broth. I guess that's basically what it is. Though the avocado pieces were good, the broth didn't really taste like anything. I had one of their specials- a pasta with chorizo and a spicy sauce. The sauce itself was good, but the meal was just not pleasant to eat- the cheese was something grated and hard, which isn't for me but that's just a personal taste thing. What really bothered me was that the chicken slices were tough, like they had either been overcooked or previously frozen. There were also peppers and various other things in there, but didn't really add to a coherent flavor and seemed a bit raw and crunchy, kinda like eating a salad. It does seem to cater specifically to an older crowd of regulars who sit down to complain about obamacare, which didn't bother us too much but would get old really quick. I get the feeling that the establishment is successful more for its network of regulars than the food itself. We may be back to give it another try- a lot of things on the menu sound good, but we weren't impressed with the things we did order. read more

Dog friendly patio with lots of shade and extra spare water dishes for dogs. Slightly overpriced. Chicken crepes with spinach mushroom cheesy cream sauce are very good, but wish you had the option to order 2 crepes for lunch instead of the 3 crepe portion. Adding a salad makes the lunch/dinner expensive. Breakfast choices are good and different. The nova lox plate is good for two large open face bagel sandwiches (generous portion of nova lox, sliced red onion & tomato, mound of cream cheese, but wish they also included sliced cucumbers), BUT Eclectic Cafe has the WORST BAGELS we have ever eaten; mushy, tasteless, cheap store bought crappy bagels (best to stop across the street at Bruegger's Bagel Shop and pick up some fresh "real" bagels). We find the servers are either unfriendly (no personality, especially some of the male waiters) and tend to disappear (several times we got tired of waiting to get our check to leave). But the bussers are always hardworking, hustling, very attentive and friendly... too bad they do not earn the main tip or become our servers. If it wasn't for the busboys we have had, the overall service would have to be rated fair to poor. read more

We should have known when we were greeted at the door by the manager stating that they close at eight o'clock (it was 7:31 p.m.). No hello. No welcome to the Eclectic Cafe. Just an unwelcoming glare and the time check. Our server was nice enough but inattentive. No drink should go unfilled for more tHan five minutes. The food was passable, certainly not what we've come to Expect over the years from them. The chicken torta came on a pumpernickel roll, very odd choice for a Mexican sandwich. I had to wait five minutes for mustard for my sandwich and one package of crackers for my soup. The couple dining next to us were the recipients of the hovering manager's shooting glances and pressuring them (and us) to finish faster. The whole experience left us with a bad taste for a return visit. What an awful way to treat your customers! read more

I found a big black hair in my food, which led me to find a big fat chunk of lint/hair on my bacon. I understand. It happens. Food was fine. Here's the problem: The manager came back out, annoyed, and said, "There was no way to prevent that. It was lint. If it came from the kitchen, it would have been cooked on the bacon. It could have come from your clothes. But I'll take it off the bill." A. It WAS cooked in the bacon. Grease-soaked chunk of hair/lint. Not even my hair color. B. That is NOT the way to talk to a customer or handle that situation. You say, "I am so sorry about that. Would you like something else?" I felt like he was accusing me of placing that on my food to get a free meal. Sorry you've been burned by the scums of society to make you this way, sir, but I would have happily paid for my food if it didn't come with a side of dirty hair and lint. My family had a fine meal. Out of principle, though, we won't return. Learn how to treat the people paying for you to remain in business. read more

We found this place by accident one day, many years ago. Now, when my wife and I are here (we come to Tucson 3x ea year), The Eclectic Cafe is a traditional "must". We drive all the way across town from Tucson National to experience this place. We've never had anything that wasn't fantastic and their prices are fantastic for what we get. Definitely 5 yums up! read more

Oooh... yum yum yum! These guys are a lot better than their sister place. The food is good, although the portions are small. The prices are good. Their outdoor patio/ seating area is small but just oh-so-lovely and so enjoyable even when you are facing car grills with dead bugs stuck to them... The service is pretty good (but sometimes they aren't always super friendly). I love the laid back atmosphere and love all the cute/ amazing dogs that people bring with them to this restaurant-- honestly, that just adds so much fun to the experience. And of course, the view of the Catalinas while dining. What could be better? read more

We had a late lunch/early dinner here around 4pm yesterday. By the time we left at 5, the restaurant was completely full! For a Tuesday night! I guess that says something about the fun, eclectic menu and quality of food. I was starving and ordered the Hacienda Cilantro Chicken salad. It was a warm salad, which I wasn't so sure about, but I ended up eating the whole thing. It was amazing. My mom had the quiche of the day with a spinach salad. Decent prices and big portions. read more

Food, decent, but not good enough to endure the rude behavior of the server. He seemed angry at the world; however, everyone can have an off day, but he became argumentative and had absolutely no customer service skills. The food came out in a timely manner, and it was pretty good, but when it was time for the check, he completely messed up our checks with the couple we were with. When we tried to explain, he argued with us, and finally offered to correct. He came back with the revised checks, and again, they were wrong, and again he argued with us and was extremely rude. We finally asked for the manager, and she was not as rude, but corrected the checks. We spent more time trying to correct the checks than we did waiting for our food and finishing our meal. They never once apologized for his behavior, offered a discount or compensation for our trouble and for the aggravation. On top of that, they sat us next to the kitchen, which I don't mind, but I got splashed on my back with some kind of beverage, and no one said a thing. We definitely will not be back. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Tucson. I've been coming here since I was a baby with my family and now I'm 21 and still go at least once a week!! Best servers and food. Great service, nice craft beer selection. Nachos were possibly the worst I've ever had, lol. Try something else on the menu.

My wife and I have frequented The Eclectic Cafe practically since they opened thirty seven years ago.One of my favourite dishes is their Ultimate Vegetarian Bean Burro. Unfortunately, we were informed by the server that they now put LARD in their refried pinto beans. It kind of destroys the vegetarian concept of the dish. I was offered the burro with black beans. In my opinion, a paltry substitute to pinto beans in a bean burro. Please, Powers That Be , stop putting lard in your beans! read more

Maybe I have just been lucky compared to the other reviewers, but I have eaten here three times and all the times have had a good experience. The most recent visit was a few weeks ago. Our waitress was really great. Our drinks were always full, without ever once having to ask. I had the veggie torta and it was so good. In addition I somewhat customized my order and she got it exactly right, so I was really happy. My sister had one of the hamburgers and was only able to eat half of it. (only because she was full from chips and salsa). My husband cleaned his plate and said it was really good. I will definitely go back. read more

Friendly and warm with a, yes, "eclectic" menu. I was eating light, so I ordered the tomato stuffed with tuna salad. A little pricey, maybe, for a small scoop in a small tomato surrounded by a few carrot and celery sticks. But it happened to be exactly what I wanted. Even the tomato was tasty (not always the case). The place was full by the time we left on a Thursday evening, but the service was warm and attentive. It's going to be too hot to sit outside for a little while, but we definitely will be back and try breakfast al fresco some weekend morning. A good, solid choice. read more
