We started our trip with this dinner, and to their credit, we went in blindly regarding the food and prices! Unfortunately, the most memorable part was the price, and not in very favorable way. It was the most expensive place we went to, but we did get an appetizer, two teas, and two entrees. All of that plus a tip was about 100 dollars, which is more than we would have liked to spend. After not liking anything on the main menu, the waitress brought us the bar menu, which was more our speed. We got the pulled pork nachos for our appetizer, which were amazing! My husband got fish and chips, which were good, but pretty run-of-the-mill, and I got fish tacos, which weren't my favorite (cold, thick tortillas, dry fish, lots of uncooked cabbage and carrot foliage on top- I didn't finish them). We wanted to like Echo since it's inside the King and Prince, but everything was disappointing. My husband got the prime rib dinner special and it was severely over cooked. The twice baked potato looked and tasted like it had been cooked hours ago and left under a heat lamp. I got the salmon which was good except the skin was served up and all the sauce was on the skin which I found odd. The other side was perfectly pan seared so I'm not sure why it was served skin side up. I had to scrape all the sauce off the skin, and put it back on the other side. The restaurant inside the resort. Incredible view of the ocean. If it is nice the outdoor seating is awesome. We were early so there was no problem getting a seat next to the windows. Cool colors as the sun went down. We started with the Seared Sea Scallops. The purée, cabbage and corn combined for a really great bite. We then moved on to a wedge. Really good. They split it for us. So many great flavors with the Gouda, bacon, peanuts and ranch dressing. A must have. We decided to try the seafood chowder as it was a special. So good! Not as thick as I have had before but the flavors were all there. Maybe more like a bisque than a chowder. Finally we had the steak. Ribeye was cooked just right and lightly seasoned with salt and pepper. Perfect. The sauces were a nice touch but a good steak should be able to stand on its own. Darrell our server and Karmen the hostess provided us fantastic service during our anniversary dinner on Saturday! Karmen got us a beautiful beach side table even when we ran a bit late to our reservation and Darrell paced the meal perfectly. Even though it was a Saturday night with perfect weather, we never felt rushed. He was friendly, funny, and had great timing. The kitchen staff re-fired the old fries and served us hot old very crispy fries. Once again our server fixed it. Other than the fries failure the food was unremarkable. We visited Echo while vacationing on St Simons. It's a beautiful resort. We wanted to visit for dinner but couldn't get reservations so we went for lunch. The service was great. The appetizers are "shareables" and are quite large. We had the poutine and the calamari. The poutine was very good. The calamari was ok, but not remarkable. For my meal I ordered the Mahi sandwich which was good but they served it on Kings Hawaiian bread which got soggy from the hot fish. The view and atmosphere were very cool. We had a reservation that was made three weeks prior to our stay. When we checked in we were told there were no tables, but we could sit by the bar. After a long discussion we gave up and took a table by the bar. When I pulled out my chair, I found it covered in dog hair!!! Unbelievable. I pushed it to the wall and when the waitress came I told her about it. She said that there were probably dogs there earlier. We decided to stay anyway because it was our first night at the resort and did not want to drive to another restaurant. We ordered the pork chop and the short rib. Average at best. We ate about half of it and hoped to get a good desert. My wife asked if there were any really good deserts. The waitress said there were a few that were pretty good. Not convincing at all. We skipped desert. Very disappointing start to our vacation. My advice is to drive into town to find something better. read more

It was the last night for friends visiting from NY. We made reservations for 5:45, arrived @ 5:40, was informed that it would be a 5-10 min wait, fine we had a seat. A few minutes later we were approached and told the dish washer was broke and they couldn't seat us. Really? Did they turn down all in coming reservations, close the doors? No, they did not. We were bumped for an over flow they couldn't handle. Very poor way to treat customers. read more

Meh! Three of us gals decided to out for drinks. The cocktail menu appeared to be robust and we were looking forward to a nice atmosphere with incredible views to the ocean. Unfortunately we got there two late and we were unable to see the ocean, so I cannot attest to the views. We ordered a drink each and sat outside. My two companions are lightweights and they can taste alcohol a couple miles away. These cocktails were obviously missing the alcohol. NOTHING . We were very disappointed. Staying at the King & Prince and just finished dinner at their restaurant ECHO. Rather pricey for the quality of the food, but paying for the ocean view. Waiter took our order and that was the last we saw of him until the check came, (kitchen staff brought the food). Part of our order never came with no explanation until our check came. We received 3 checks, one for the meal and 2 for the portion that never came, (a bill and another bill for the credit). Apparently they were out of a portion of our order and never told us, just a charge and a credit. The view was nice, but you expect average service at best. This was far from it. read more

Our first time dining with a reservation. The restaurant was very lively and busy on a Saturday evening. Plenty of cozy gathering areas and tables to enjoy a drink while waiting for a table. The hostess allowed us to have window seating to view the outdoor area/ocean with no hesitation. The scallops were AMAZING and my husband had the Pot Roast. Walking into the restaurant is an experience on its own. The decorations are beautiful, considering it is holiday season. There was no wait even though most indoor seating was taken. Sunday brunch is very popular. I've always loved the Bloody Mary bar which is all you can drink (same with Mimosas). I ordered the eggs Benedict as did my best friend. Oddly, the soup, salad and main course all arrived at the same time. This took up a lot of space since we were seated at the bar. The salad was slightly wilted and the soup was rather salty. I may sound picky but at the level of service and cost, I believe I have just cause. Lastly was the Hollandaise sauce. It was very sour and my best friend seconded that review. What made up for the food was the staff. Our initial waitress, Savannah, was attentive and cordial. In addition, the bar staff (John & Sydney) were awesome. The ECHO restaurant inside of the King and Prince Hotel on Saint Simon Island, GA is a beautiful establishment seated on the Ocean front (had me with the view). The receptionist was friendly and polite, the dining area is elegant with an awesome view of the Ocean. Our waiter was friendly and accommodating, we appreciated the conversation informing of local attractions also his attentiveness. We felt very welcomed. We ordered the special of the day Prime Rib 10oz - 12oz, the sides were baked or sweet potato mash, Broccoli or Asparagus, a Salad and desert. The staff really made this wonderful experience. While staying at the King & Prince Resort, we stopped by Echo while waiting to check-in. The one odd thing about Echo is that they close for an hour in the middle of the day from 3-4pm. But there are still people at the bar, and people at the tables, they just don't service anyone. But Javier came to our rescue and served us! We did have to wait until 4pm for the kitchen to open and ordered the Wild Georgia Shrimp Tacos. These were AMAZING. 500/5. The shrimp were so perfectly grilled. At this point, I thought I couldn't handle anymore seafood, but I was wrong. These tacos and Javier's customer service were the ONLY good thing about this resort and would be the only reason I go back. read more

My mom and I are staying at the King & Prince Golf and Beach resort and didn't feel like driving for lunch. We've stayed here before (a couple years back) and wanted to try this place. So why not?! Everything was such a great experience from beginning to end. Their menu selection for lunch is small yet all delicious. It was difficult to choose. I ended up trying the vegetable flatbread and my mom the soy tacos (2). With my meal I paired it with the Tybee Island blond ale. We got our meal and was impressed with the presentation and taste! The flatbread had great taste, the pimento hummus complimented well with the roasted vegetables. The balsamic glaze and pickled onions on top made the meal. I tried my soy tacos and my mouth was melting. The grilled tofu was amazing and loved the sweet chili sauce added. The service was amazing and the pricing is not as bad as I thought it would be. I got another craft beer at the end. The sesion dark lager which hit the spot. My mom wants to go back to lunch today and so we will but we will get something different so we can enjoy it all! This rating is based on about ten visits over a period of several months. What we found is that for drinks (1) serving size has been markedly reduced (new beer glasses -- much smaller!) and (2) the prices have gone up about 20-25%. Food is decent, but is "institutional" for the most part and is *dramatically* over-priced. If you you are a sucker for a view of the water be prepared to pay for it . On the other hand, if this is not what you want you're really just being ripped of. The King and Price food and beverage operation seems to prey on folks who are staying at the hotel. For the locals, like us, well, just best to avoid, we think. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. First off the view alone makes t a wonderful place to eat. Whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner which I did all 3 the view is amazing. To get to watch the waves roll in on the beach while you eat simply beautiful. The decor is modern, sleek and very bright. Service was top notch. The wait staff is friendly, efficient and once they get to know you know exactly what you drink before you even order. That is service. The food is delightful. Portions are good, price is fair and everything is cooked to perfection. The chefs are amazing. I had the most delicious Praline french toast for breakfast. My suggestions for meals are as follow breakfast- praline french toast, Lunch a bowl of lobster bisque it's creamy with a hint of smokiness, Dinner I would go with their sea scallops just divine. If you are looking for an appetizer I choose crab cakes and for dessert, if you have the room go with the creme brulee it is perfection. Like some other reviews have mentioned, the water has a bad taste. My cocktail and beer were good. The menu is pretty limited and expensive. We got the lobster Mac and cheese and the filet mignon. The lobster Mac and cheese was good but pretty small for the price. His steak was not cooked at ordered and low ranking on our list of filets we have tried. We chose to eat outside which was a good choice - the inside was pretty smoky. Not sure what was going on there. What is going for Echo is the location - can't beat that! I've given multiple customer service classes. Everyone here, except one of the food runners with red hair and a beard (wish I got his name because he was great), needs to be reminded that the customer is not there to cater to their needs and whims and the customer isn't an inconvenience. Dear owners: get new managers because the ones you have aren't running this place properly. Table water: buy a filter or change it. Nobody should be serving sewer water to drink. Don't charge me $3 for your off brand hotel label water when you know your water is toilet water and you know you give the water away at the hotel. Disgusting. Don't bring me the bottle without a glass and expect me to chug water out of a bottle like I'm at the beach. Don't give me a snarky answer if I ask if the ice maker has a filter. Server: if you can't remember food orders then write them down. Only 5 full tables in the restaurant and he forgot an appetizer completely and every time he showed up at the table he called out what was in his hand and we had to raise our hands for him to put it in the right place. If I wanted to eat at IHOP I would have done so for a lot less money. *If your mask is stained or dirty looking get a new one. Manager- if you see this give them a new mask. When I ask a server for something I really don't need to hear 'can I have a moment to do what I'm doing first' and multiple other passive aggressive answers. Temperature: if I wanted to eat in a 30° room I would've flown to Manhattan and dined outside. When I mentioned it to the hostess I got a shrug. Every person in the room had a jacket on. Bottom line is there are plenty of other places to eat on the island so unless you like to pay money to be treated like you don't matter go somewhere else to eat. read more

I'm leaving a very generous 3 stars because the food was good/ok but the service (slow/didn't clear plates or glasses and couldn't even answer menu questions regarding ingredients and got order wrong) and the cleanliness of the table area (chairs,tables and floors all dirty with food) was an issue between us sitting for over 20 minutes without being offered water/menus or the complimentary pastries and smoothies - we had to ask the hostess after 22-25 minutes if the server for that section had been told we were seated because we saw three other tables being waited on and served by the server for our section. Once our server arrived we ordered but my husband's order wasn't right and we had also ordered bottomless Bloody Mary's but couldn't refills timely because waiter didn't check on us and didn't even refill water so that was pointless - at the very end we got our complimentary smoothies but our waiter couldn't tell us what was in it. The worst was probably the filthy disgusting high chair that was brought to the table with so much dried food as well as fresh food ( it took me almost the entire time we were waiting to place our order to get it clean enough with baby wipes to sit my daughter in it) I would choose not to dine here again ever - this is not King and Prince standards and I cannot believe that they allow this sub standard restaurant to operate under their name/roof....gone are the high quality meals and service that was once associated with this resort read more
