Five stars, no notes. Ok, I have notes. This is the best fine-dining experience on the island. Yes, Woodside exists, and is quite good. But Delaney's is better. First, the service. I ate here twice over the course of a week, once at the bar, and once in the dining room. Michael took great care of us at the bar, and Devin was fantastic in the dining room. Also, a shout out to the short little Hispanic fellow who delivers those delightful warm rolls--incredible! The second time I visited, we had to wait a few minutes while our table was prepared. In maybe six minutes total, no less than seven different servers approached us to make sure we were being taken care of. Forget about the menu you see online. The specials are where it's at. Both meals I had, there were at least five appetizer specials, and nearly double that for mains. I won't go through a blow-by-blow of every dish, but suffice it to say every single thing we ate was perfection. And even after salads, our mains, and sharing two desserts and three appetizers, we left feeling satisfied but not bloated, a testament to the quality of the food. GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. read more

This is by far my favorite restaurant on the island. I always thought their food was the best around and then we went there to celebrate Valentines Day and I found that they actually improved hard as that is to believe. First I have to give a shout out to our waiter Devon. He managed to list all the specials slow enough that I was able to keep track and remember them. Usually I give up about half way through. Anyway, his service was also excellent. I ordered the duck which I have had there before and oh my goodness it was even better. The outside skin was grilled perfectly and had a nice bite to it. My husband had the pork steak schnitzel. He shared one little piece with me and it literally melted in your mouth. I told him next time I was getting it - it was that good. So big decision next time I go back as I loved loved loved the duck. We typically don't order dessert but hey it was Valentine's Day. My husband ordered the key lime pie which was monumental as he is super picky and never ever has anything good to say when he does get it. That changed- he declared it was real key lime pie and would order it again. My chocolate Guinness cake was also excellent. So as you can tell, I definitely recommend this place and the fact that they just keep getting better is phenomenal! read more

Food impeccable, most service impeccable, we have been going there for the past 3 years at least once a month and the food and service is always outstanding but; There is one server who for what ever reason believes that his job is not to box up out food if there are left overs when finished. He just puts the boxes on our table and walks away. Let's just put it nicely, if I spend between $300/400 for my meal you definitely should box up any left overs. Every other server we have had has always boxed up our food but one. This is now the second time he has done this and it will be the last time, we will not let him be our server again, if he comes to our table I will very politely ask for a different server or to be moved to another table. Mike is the bartender and our server and is Killer at both jobs!! Can't say enough positives about him. The food of course as always is beyond description. It's a wonder to me why Chef Tom Delaney doesn't have a few Michlin Stars!!! The spicy shrimp and fried green tomatoes appetizers were super delicious with a flair only Chef Tom can add. Entre we had the thick cut 14oz steak and split it. The steak was fork tender with a lemon truffle spin that kicked into another orbit. The potatoes and green beans are of course fantastic. First this restaurant has great reviews...however they fall short of phone etiquette. No answering machine...you have to wait for someone to answer the phone..good luck during lunch hours...and all you want to do is put in a reservation. Y'all should have online table reservations. Goodluck if you are put on hold. I waited over 10 minutes..and you think that "I'm so sorry for your wait " nothing...and then an attitude..like I'm doing you a favor in putting in a reservation...still we are going back not happy with our time. K.K.'s service was excellent and our food highlights included a hot and delicious crab bisque (extra small portion brought for the spouse to have a taste, so I didn't have to share mine), expertly cooked veal and flounder, and a tart key lime pie. This was our first night's dinner on arrival in St Simons. The upscale restaurant had been recommended from an online Facebook group. Otherwise, I would not have known about it as the restaurant doesn't appear in most of the usual tourist publications. We had a very good dinner experience. We started by sharing one of their daily specials -- a fried green tomato appetizer with two tomato slices topped with cheese and shrimp. And a unique salad dressing. It was quite tasty. For my main entree, I selected their duck. The sauce for it changes daily. The chili one for the evening didn't appeal and the chef was nice enough to prepare a gran marnier version. The super sized portion of sliced duck breast meat was cooked to my preference. It was delicious and served with baby thin asparagus spears and curried rice. My husband had their fois gras appetizer as his entree. It was buttery soft and served with a unique sour grape sauce. As he was not that hungry, he said it was the perfect size. Stopped by during lunch to make a dinner reservation. The only time available was 8:30pm. We took it. We arrived at 8:15, our table was set and ready. We were seated within just a few minutes. The atmosphere is better than casual yet not dressy. Though some were dressed to impress. The host took our drink order and our waiter briefed us on the extensive list of specials. We decided to split the Filet of Beef Diane. Prime Angus filet, grilled & served with mushrooms, tomatoes & scallions in a brandy demi-glace. plated with rice and asparagus. This steak was probably one of the best steaks I have ever had. The steak alone was worth the visit. Everything else was just filler. Salad, bread, cocktails, wine, and coffee. First night on the island and a great start with dinner here. Friendly staff and our server Matthew was very knowledgeable and well versed on the many specials and appetizers available. Matthew even was quick to note my wife's preference of sauces to go with her Duck (off the bone) and asked the Chef to prepare a Grand Marnier reduction to substitute for the sweet chili sauce featured. We shared the Fried Green Tomatoes that came with two huge Georgia Shrimp atop the two slices of perfectly fried Green Tomatoes with a light remoulade sauce. I chose the Foie Gras in a sour grape sauce which was marvelous! Soft and buttery foie gras that just melted in your mouth. I had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc (New Zealand) to go with my meal that was very good. We arrived 10 minutes early for our reservation and we told it should be about 10-15 minutes wait. We stood there basically being ignored for 45 minutes while other parties were seated even though they arrived after us. Apparently it is all about being a St Simon's regular because it seems like the people that walked in after us were regulars and "more important" than us. read more

Beautiful restaurant with clean decor, dishes and bathrooms. I went here with 3 coworkers on a Saturday night. We made a reservation and were seated promptly. This restaurant is small and it was jam-packed with people making it loud. It's worth noting is that the median age of the average customer this particular evening was about 62 and the median income was somewhere between 80k-100k. I even made a joke about my friend being the only Mexican guy to have entered through their doors in the past 5 years. Oops We had to ask specifically for the wine and cocktail lists which seemed a bit tacky of the waiter not bring them immediately. Additionally, the waiter had to recite about 20 different specials for the evening between the appetizers and entrees; I thought it was playful of the chefs to have so many specials; but also annoying to have to listen to 20 different menu options. The wine was great and we ordered the goat cheese appetizer to start. We all ordered various types of filets. The steaks came out perfect!! Cooked to each our specifications and delicious. For dessert we shared the lemon cake, key lime tart and creme brûlée. Our meal was delicious from start to finish and I think the crowd favorite was the Veal Hannah for the entree and the specials were extensive but amazing. This restaurant is a bit expensive and our only complaint for the group of 15 was that the fish entree was a bit small for the cost. The desserts were sensational and the key lime pie was to die for! First of all the food and service here is really great. Our meal was good and our waiter did a great job. We had an 8:00 reservation so arrived about 10 minutes early and went to the bar for a drink. The bartender recommended a very nice glass of red wine. We were seated at 8:00 in a nice booth. My only negative comment is the noise level in the restaurant. It was extremely loud and my wife and I both commented on how loud it was. We started with a crab cake appetizer. Two good size cakes with two sauces. There was a lot of crab. What a nice start to the meal. My wife ordered the seared scallops and I got the lamb chops. She got five perfectly seared big scallops and I got four chops with my order. The food came out hot and was delicious. We ordered a bottle of red wine that was good for $53. It was our anniversary so we had a slice of key lime pie to finish the meal. Delaneys is known around the island as having the best food of any of St.Simons many restaurants. Landing a reservation--unless you have an inside connection to the owners and some staff of the restaurant--is virtually impossible unless booked several weeks out. Unfortunately when you do plan ahead and make those reservations several weeks in advance you are not guaranteed to get in. This is based on our experience where we made reservations 5 weeks in advance for our anniversary ( the best we could get was a promise for a table in the bar room). When we showed up on time the maitre d' could not find our reservation, and suggested that since we did not get a phone call from them confirming the reservation that day we should have known we didn't actually have one--even though we have never been there before and did not know this was customary. I would never think that anything I say in this review is going to have an effect on Delaneys immediate business, However, their arrogant attitude will eventually catch up to them in an area filled with very decent restaurants. Save yourself a lot of frustration and try more friendly and good restaurants like Georgia Sea Grill, Halyards, Del Sur, and many others. read more

We went here for our 10th anniversary. I've been there before, but it's been a long time. We really enjoyed the food. Everything we had was delicious and cooked to perfection. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable. The only dings to the evening was the dining room is really loud and the food is really dated. The menu items, flavor profiles, and plate presentations are straight from the 1990's. My wife also mentioned she was disappointed in the vegetarian selections. I grew up on St. Simons Island and go there often. Friends and family kept telling me I had to try Delaney's one day so we went for lunch this past weekend and O...M....G. I had to try the scallops after hearing about them and true to word, they melted in my mouth. Delicious. Followed up with some desserts that were also perfectly yummy. First time visiting and was very disappointed in the service. Food was prepared well and had good flavors. We had reservations for 8:15pm. We waited about 30 minutes after being seated at 8:20p and we not acknowledged by anyone. One of the persons in our group received the wrong order so waited even longer. When he received his order it was very rare, he asked for medium and it wasn't even close. Dark red and rare. They sent it back and brought it out rare again. Very good food. Great wine, too - list by the glass was short but really excellent, everything we drank was superb. Several game animals on the menu, which I appreciated (duck, antelope, bison). Yellowtail appetizer was good, though forgettable. Wife got the antelope chops - very good. Would have liked them charred a little more perhaps (?) but still very good. I got a 60-day dry aged strip on special - also very good, though less flavorful than I would have expected, perhaps because it was grass fed. I like a little corn in my beef! Desserts were disappointing - typical old person stuff (creme brûlée, chocolate whatever, etc) - I got the apple pound cake and thought it was a little too dry, not really that good at all. Wife says the creme brûlée was "nothing special." We sat in the bar and chatted with some local regulars, which was very nice. It's a little jammed, but cozy enough. Bartender was our server, and he was very knowledgeable and helpful - a classy pro for sure. Dining room had a sort of white art-deco feel...like a living room in an elegant old home...I felt like I'd see Hercule Poirot eating in there (from the 90's TV show), if you know what I mean. It looked very nice! Overall, I really liked it and would certainly go back, though I'd probably skip dessert. I'll try the bison next time. EDIT: I eat almost no seafood, but that's what all the locals were eating, so I suspect that is what they do best. read more

Was looking forward to eating at this restaurant all week long. On our final night here we called to ask about their specials for placing a pick-up order. The man answering the phone very quickly interrupted me, told me they were too overwhelmed, their dining room was "packed", and they would not be taking carry-out orders. And then I was hung up on before I could say anything. Next time if you want to secure a new customer, try to be a bit less rude on the phone. Also, during a pandemic, perhaps consider offering take out for those of us who don't wish to sit inside a "packed dining room." Having worked in a restaurant for years, I understand the stress of a busy night, but hanging up on someone and speaking rudely on the phone is not appropriate. read more

The maitre dei would not provide any explanation nor when something might be available. He left his station and made himself busy to avoid the issue.
