Flew into Atlanta, staying at the Nobu hotel and we walked the streets only to find Ecco. We came in the back entrance and were greeted nicely by a hostess. There is an energy to this place that is quite nice as we seated in the dining room. We started with the focaccia with whipped ricotta, definitely recommend that. We order the meat balls, don't recommend those as it was $12 for five marbles of meet with some onions. Not a fan. Our server had a great personality and mentioned a secret menu item, the margherita pizza which was the best we have ever had. We have had a few, in the 100's. Profiteroles was the dessert we were recommended and it did not miss. Very nice and candied orange in it was delightful. Definitely a go to place. read more

I've seen the Ecco midtown location for years now but finally had the chance to check out the newest location in Buckhead. Lured in by the prospect of seeing the Hell's Kitchen contestant Gizzy, only to find out that she had just left a few months ago. We had a late night reservation, and when we arrived on a Friday night, the place was popping! It was a full house. Our server was super nice and helpful. We ordered a couple drinks to get started. I'm a gin girl - and when I saw the gin and tonic cocktail list, I did a happy dance! I ordered the Gin Tonic No. 2, which was pleasantly mixed with elderflower, mint and lavender. The meat and cheese board we ordered was delicious. My absolute favorite was the creamy cheese, recommended by our server: the brillat savarin. Definitely the highlight of the meal. We also ordered the Bangs Island mussels, the Farm Egg flatbread and the squid ink bucatini. Everything was tasty, although nothing was mind-blowing. I remembered the mussel broth was almost good, but something seemed to be missing. I wished I could taste more of the avocado-Chile butter! We finished it off with dessert - the bee sting cake, the best way possible to finish off our meal. It was moist and not too sweet, and crazily addicting, even though I was full beyond belief. The service and ambience is pretty top notch, no complaints on that front. But the food was sorely lacking, on Mother's Day at that! When I pay upwards of $35 for a piece of fish, I have the expectation that it will be a fantastic dish and I'll be blown away by the flavors - sadly, this was not the case. While the branzino had a nice taste and sear on the skin side, it wasn't a whole fish nor was it worth $35+. The veggie accompaniments of asparagus, green peas, and carrots were flavorless and undercooked and the sauce that was smeared across my plate was lacking salt and depth and it pretty much tasted like nothing. I also had a side of the fries ($7 and not pictured), and while we received a hefty portion, you could see the oil dripping down - they were oilier fries than typical fast food fries, which I haven't eaten in years, but triple the price... needless to say I was disappointed. My partner was happy with the vegan veggie plate and my sister was also happy with her seafood pasta dish; thankfully, all was not lost on that meal. read more

Ecco Buckhead offers a swanky ambiance with excellent service and delicious entrées. The restaurant does get a bit loud but it's not bad at all. Our server was very attentive and friendly and made the experience even better. We had dinner reservations and were promptly seated and served at a cozy table. I had the lemon drop martini, which was sweet and perfectly lemony and my friend had an old-fashioned. We started our dinner with the goat cheese balls appetizer. Very good! I had the branzino, which was served de-boned and nicely garnished. I enjoyed the zesty lemon flavor. My friend had the duck and savored every bite. The side of vegetables were mostly carrots but were very well marinated in a sweet-based sauce. We finished our dinner with the lemon rosemary olive oil cake. 5 stars for a great restaurant experience. I was in Buckhead recently and looking to grab a bite. I saw that Ecco was nearby and decided to give the venue a try. It is an interesting set up with a bar dominating the front area and a large curtain cutting off the group area and tables off to the right side in front of the kitchen. The area has a very modern look to it without being too cozy or crazy. I sat down at the bar and the bartender (who is the gf for one of the main chefs who came to say hello) brought me the menu and was ready to help. I told her my ideas for food and asked what she thought was good, and she was ready for the full foodie conversation. Lots of bartenders blow me off, so it was nice to have someone listen. I decided to start off with the lamb tenderloins saltimbocca to go with my drink. My drink (can't remember the name, but it has banana) was fantastic and my saltimbocca was some of the best I've had in Atlanta. It isn't a huge plate, but it was perfectly seasoned and deeply satisfying. Since I had already had some food earlier, I moved on to dessert and got the praline sweet bun. Holy heck it was awesome. The combo of warm bun with chocolate and Hazelnut was to die for. The wonderful bartender chatted with me as I scarfed it down and I appreciated her not giving me grief bc the venue was closing soon and the dish was all over the place. So messy, but so worth it. Overall, Ecco was exactly what you would want from a top shelf Buckhead restaurant. The venue, service, and food are exactly what you would expect and something you should try when you are in the area. My husband made reservations here for my birthday. We were excited to try it because we have never been before. We absolutely loved the ambiance and since my birthday was on a Monday, it wasn't busy at all; however, the service was a bit slow. Once the waitress greeted us, we decided to place our cocktail and appetizer order. We ordered an old fashioned and the midnight julep for cocktails and the fried goat cheese, honey and black pepper for an appetizer. At this time, we hadn't received water while we waited for our cocktails and appetizer, but she eventually brought them out to us. She may have been spread to thin, but the restaurant wasn't too busy. We finally received waters and our cocktails/appetizers came out shortly after. The cocktails were good, but on the pricey side for the amount received. I also ordered an espresso martini. The fried goat cheese was probably our favorite bite of the night. We ordered the lamb duo and the steak frites. My husband enjoyed his lamb duo, but my steak frites came out cold. I brought it to the waitress attention and said she can "warm it up." I was a bit confused and stated that wasn't my desire. She stated, "she had to get the manager to come speak with me." The manager took awhile to let me know she would bring me a new steak, but I was so hungry I decided to eat the frites, which were lukewarm. Sadly, our waitress avoided us until my steak came back out. It was weird because we didn't make a big deal about it, but just wanted the issue corrected. I finally received my steak and it was decent, but not the best steak I've had in Atlanta. Although, the waitress didn't acknowledge my birthday until the end, she brought out a birthday dessert, which was good. Overall, this wasn't my best dinner experience and it was especially unfortunate since it was my birthday. Ehhh...not bad or anything, but for the price, considering the portions and flavor, I can't give more than 3 stars. 3 might be a little generous but the place is very cool with a ton of potential so maybe just an off night. My wife and I dined here on a Friday night. There were no reservations available so we decided to go try and grab a spot at the bar. We arrived at 6:30p and there were a several spots at the bar. We grabbed some seats and immediately afterwards we notice the bar completely filled up. So if you go without a reservation, go early. We had really high hopes as this restaurant is owned by a group that typically delivers a very good product (South City Kitchen to name one). Our bartender was quick and polite and she made us some nice cocktails. We started with a couple of meats and cheeses. They were fine but the portion was very small. Then we' ordered the seafood scampi dish. Also a very small portion and the flavor was just ehhhh. The atmosphere is trendy and nice. Not too loud but definitely busy. Came down for a private event with my Alma mater in the back section. From the time I got there until it was time to leave, the service was top notch. We had a set menu (with the choice of protein). Everything was presented so well and was full of flavor. The servings were smaller than I am accustomed to (but that could just be the American in me). I think the alcohol voided any hunger that I would have anticipated. Parking is kind of tricky as I ended up parking in the Phipps Mall parking lot close to Nordstrom, but there is a bridge leading to Ecco, so I assume that is meant to happen. If you do happen to drive directly to Ecco, there is valet available. The hostess was great, and the vibes were chill. I'll have to revisit on a date night in the future. read more

Hope this one doesn't leave the menu any time soon ... if ever. We ordered the tuna carpaccio and beet salad to start. Both were delicious, but we were starving and didn't get pictures. We enjoyed our meal at the bar and were served by Eleven; he was very knowledgeable on the menu and very attentive as we needed refills or accoutrements. The servers were extremely helpful and knowledgeable on the products they sold and the restaurant owner also gave us a free appetizer and dessert for my brother's birthday! My family and I visited Ecco this past weekend to celebrate my older brother's birthday. My brother loves eating out via TAPAS style so I was luckily able to try several dishes at Ecco! All were wonderful and bursting with flavor, literally. To start he ordered a bottle of red wine. I'm not a huge red wine drinker but I really enjoyed the one my brother chose. The 2018 Nappa Valley by FAUST. It was really smooth going down and had a 14% alcohol level so it hit pretty quickly. For appetizers he also ordered the goat cheese balls (amazing), roasted Brussels sprouts, Stuffed Piquillo peppers, and bread with olive oil. Allll amazing. My favorite were the goat cheese balls, very sweet sauce on top that adds flavor! I forget the exact name of my entree but I took pictures. I can describe it as a very thick linguine pasta with a light lemon based sauce with shrimp! It was so good! I also tried the pappardelle pasta with pork! Wow! Amateur hour or a very off night. My best friend was visiting me from NY so i wanted to take her some where i thought to be impressive & consistently great . I hadnt been here years since i dont eat pasta often and prefer gf options. Previously i loved both locations & hoping it was still on point, as she is in the fine dining business from the Finger Lakes. It was thanksgiving weekend so it wasnt busy. I called to see if we could change our reservation to later but no one answered the phone. I texted in the reservation app but no response. No biggie i figured it must be busy but IT wasn't! We showed up about 45 minutes late and had to wait 10 minutes to get a table for two and then another 10+ minutes for our male server to come over. We finally get our drinks and oder appetizers. We asked a few questions about choices and how things were prepared but didnt feel the server genuinely cared about helping us , so we just went with The roasted marinated mushroom app and the fried goat cheese balls. The mushrooms with a creamy shallot sauce and brushetta toast was delicious and very tasty. We both loved & was the best thing we had throughout. The fried goat cheese was good but really had no flavor in the honey or pepper on top. Was good if you really like goat cheese but it definitely lacked. My friends entre ordered the shrimp and grits. That was very disappointing since it came out like a mushy over cooked mess. I cant even remember what i ordered but clearly not memorable. (It was back at thanksgiving) we told the manager and he said let me treat to desserts for us to take home. The desserts were on the bill and we were in disbeleif. Im still shaking my head about how poor the service was all around. The server never asked if we wanted more cocktails so we only got 1 each. Ughhj i hope they will UP THEIR GAME. The ambience at Ecco along with its modern interior make indoor dining a great experience. My family enjoyed the fried goat cheese. The bite had just enough crunch and a warm, creamy center. The honey and black pepper toppings made the goat cheese flavor even better. Highly recommend. I was a bit nervous about the Pappardelle because the photos of the dish don't look appetizing (in my opinion). However, I chose to get the dish anyway knowing that it was what the restaurant is known for. It was a good call. The pork was extremely tender and the sauce has a pepper flavor that cannot be replaced. It was DELICIOUS. Janelle and Johnny were knowledgeable, professional and provided good service. I really like the vibes of this restaurant! Our table got a few different appetizers to share. We got a salad, the focaccia, and the fried goat cheese balls. I didn't care for the salad that much, it tasted kind of weird to me, but the focaccia, wow. Sooo fluffy! And the fried goat cheese was to die for! I was skeptical because I don't even like goat cheese and it said there was honey on it and I don't like honey either but wow, it was so creamy I just felt like I was eating a cream-filled donut hole and just writing this review makes me want to go back there right now and order it. You must get this, I promise you won't regret it! I don't remember which cocktail I got but it was also pretty good! I got the linguine as my main dish and it was excellent! The shrimp was so fat and juicy and the sauce was super tasty. So usually I like my pasta al dente but I feel like it was a little too undercooked even for me. Main reason for a 5 is that they are so open to feedback. we had an AMAZING duck dish with an Indian spice blend and espresso rub - one of the best I've ever had - and spectacular staters of goat cheese balls in honey and a nicely spicy combination of long green beans and peppers. The mushrooms, Royal Trumpet, were partially a disappointmen. There were the large mushroom, the trumpets. They worked well with the onions and very acidic and tart sauce and were meaty and yummy. The smaller mushroom were overwhelmed by the acidity of the sauce and were not good. We sat at the bar. The service from V was excellent, and the GM paid a lot of attention and made things right regarding the mushroom. We arrived in time for happy hour, and both the white and red Adaris wines by the glass were perfect. The GM also introduced us to a very interesting and refreshing Greek white. Ecco has built a new location in Buckhead from ground up, next to the AC hotel, in front of Phipps plaza. Exterior and interior decor seems to be exact replica of the downtown location like the signature round light fixtures with painted white exterior, but just a difference in layout. They have valet parking, but if you really wanted to, you can park at Phipps and walk over as there's a passage way from the outdoor parking to the hotel/restaurant. Note, valet can be entered from on the Wieuca road. It just opened couple of weeks ago and with the lack of good reviews, I was reluctant to make a visit until later but fell in love during our company lunch that I decided to celebrate my birthday here. I had the fritto misto for lunch, which was basically an upscale version of po-boy with lightly fried seafood and delicious bun that would be perfect if used for lobster roll. My colleague and I ordered the fries to share and it was heavenly. You can tell that the potatoes were freshly cut and cooked and seasoned perfectly. I initially had my eyes out on a pasta dish but had chosen fritto misto. While I don't regret my choice, I wanted to come back to try their pasta dishes, which is why I made a visit for my birthday dinner. To celebrate, my husband had chosen a gin cocktail #2, which was refreshing, fruity, but was a tad sweet even for me, who typically goes for sweet drinks. They had various type of gin cocktails, and I was pretty impressed that they made it delicious balancing out the gin taste for those that are not into the strong taste. I had asked the server for a fruity, crisp drink that wasn't as sweet and I can't recall the name, but the grapefruit cocktail he brought was excellent. While Ecco is known for the lamb meatballs, I chose the mussels as I do not eat lamb. Hands down, these were the best mussels that I've had at a restaurant. It was perfectly cooked and was plump and juicy! The broth was a tad salty that I didn't want to soak up my bread and eat it type, but it was flavorful that it masked the fishy taste of the mussels. In addition, we ordered the 3 piece meat and cheese option, where we chose one cheese and 2 meats. You can pick and choose based on your preference and the cheese that we had chosen, brilliat savrin from France, was superb. As for the meats, husband preferred the coppa where as I preferred prosciutto. For our entrees, I chose the squid ink pasta and husband chose the risotto. So here's where I had to take down a star. Risotto was super super salty that I felt horrible telling my husband to choose something else from his initial pick. My husband said it was bearable to eat but had a tummy ache afterwards. If that was my dish, I would not have eaten any after the first bite. My pasta was delicious with the fresh chewy pasta and mixture of seafood and tomato sauce. Only recommendation that I would make on this is to make the pasta more of the long flat type as oppose to the shell type. To finish off our meal, we chose their signature chocolate cake. Thumbs up to our server who managed to intercept the candle-less cake before it arrived at our table. He was great with all the recommendations and the questions that I had about the menu and was attentive. Cake was the perfect ending to our meal as I was craving chocolate all day. While the chocolate cake icing was rich and decadent, wished that there was more icing in between the layers and the gelato being a bit more creamy. Ecco's Buckhead location is a relatively new Italian restaurant opened by the Fifth Group Restaurant. Unlike their other popular options I struggled with identifying the voice/perspective of this outpost, but I imagine they're still finding it as well. Located in the parking lot of Phipps near Nordstrom, it is a welcome addition to the area. The food is solid which is why I give 4 stars, but I think for the price it may deserve 3 stars without having unique offerings. I stopped by for dinner recently and enjoyed a few items. The half roast chicken with lentils - the chicken was good but the lentils were forgettable. The patatas bravas, an odd addition to the menu, were ok. I liked the concept - cheese melted on top, but mine was a bit overdone. The sauce was flavorful. The duck Ragu was hands down the best item and delicious. The duck was plentiful, cheese perfect sharp and melted, and pasta well executed. Entrees range $22-35. They also have many plates to share that I didn't try. Large flatbreads and shared sides. I else enjoyed a bottle of red wine off of their untraditional menu for just $40. read more

The food was kinda hit or miss and def a bit overpriced. I will say the Fried Goat Cheese were to die for! Legit we ordered 2 plates lol so I definitely recommend this but the second appetizer (Stuffed Piquillo Peppers) wasn't good. For the main course we got the Pappardelle pasta. Since we don't eat pork they were nice enough to sub the pork with the braised beef. It was ok. We added crushed red peppers and it made all the difference! We finished off with the Bee Sting Cake for dessert. I saw pics of it on Yelp and was super excited but honestly I wasn't impressed. The cake was dry and didn't have much flavor. Came in last night for Valentine's Day dinner with my fiancé. We made a reservation a couple weeks in advance which I always suggest for Valentine's Day anyways. We came in around 6. It wasn't too crowded, but it filled up quickly. They normally aren't open on Monday's, but opened just for the day! Our waiter was really attentive and helpful. He quickly brought us some water and explain the menu. They describe the food as modern European. We started with the fried goat cheese. And then for our entrees we got the ricotta gnudi and the short rib cannelloni. They food came out super quickly! The fried goat cheese was most definitely the star of the show! Crispy on the outside and warm, creamy, tart goat cheese on the inside - complemented by a hefty drizzle of honey! Oh my these were heavenly! It came with 5 pieces which was plenty for us to split. The ricotta gnudi was good as well. I was expecting more of a gnocchi texture, but it was more of a ball of ricotta wrapped in a dough. Super tasty though! It came with a veal ragu of sorts which was so flavorful! The cannelloni was ok. The outside dough is a bit tough. The short rib is very flavorful though. You don't get a ton of food for the prices, but we left full. Overall a good meal. read more

Ecco in Buckhead was beautiful but we had a couple of concerns. First of all the service was a little sparse. It seems like my drink was empty for a while without the waitress offering to fill it up. And my glass was dirty when brought out. The food, though sounding delicious on the menu, my plate was not salty enough and my husband's plate was too salty. We ordered the hummus which was average- hand better at traditional Mediterranean restaurants. The focatta bread was good but the ends were very burnt (ask for replacement bread but took them toward the end of our entree to get). The flatbread was also average. Entree- the grilled steak frite was pretty good. The steak was very moist and tender (fries was salty though). The lemon bucatini linguini was too seafood tasting- too clamy. As for the pappardelle- it was probably the best entree! The pork is well seasoned and tender- noodles was perfectly made. I would eat this again. It was really good. Allergy friendly! It was my second time here, both times were for drinks that turn into dinner- after work. Definitely a romantic vibe, but I've just been here with the girls and it's been great. Modern and fresh inside, with a high class touch. Super cute, posh outdoor area. Nice fire, I wish it was on today!! This will be a great spot for warm weather. Happy hour is 3-5 and includes a few apps I posted, sadly no drinks. All drinks seem to be around $15 weather it's wine or a cocktail...it's pricey but I love the atmosphere here and it's so close to work that it's worth it! (That doesn't mean y'all shouldn't add drinks to the HH :) come on, it's only til 5pm!) Last time here we had the pasta- all Gluten free, and they even adhered to my crazy allergy of no garlic and onion. I'm into it! I'll be back soon for sure read more
