Scrambled eggs with bacon, toast and home fries. French toast

Needed a decent breakfast this morning , the hotel breakfast was very unsatisfactory. Yelp pointed us to Eats. All the reviews seem to be about the wieners but we were not about to eat wieners for breakfast. Eats is quite close by our hotel so we gave it a shot. It is charming! You order and pay first then have a seat. There were a few tables of regulars, fogeys like us, who were all quite friendly. In fact one lady, a customer, refilled everyone's coffee. She even made a special trip for me for regular coffee. The food was excellent, served quickly. Fluffy French toast, crispy bacon, all well cooked. The place is immaculate. The owner took orders, cooked orders and served the orders. He is also very friendly. Highly recommend the breakfast here.

To be honest I felt the food was 3.5 stars, but the people behind the counter were super friendly and I like that you can get breakfast any time of the day. You order from the counter and they bring it over to you. I ordered a cheese omelette and bacon. The omelette was yummy, but you could tell it only had two eggs which is fine with me, but usually when you get an omelette out, it has 3. Might be something they should mention maybe. I don't know people expect three. Anyway the bacon was well done, which is how I like it, but it did have a weird taste to it. The inside was definitely dated, but I think that's the vibe they were going for. The bathroom smelled gross. There was plenty of parking when I went with lots of spots behind the building.

I was in the mood for some loaded wieners and Eats Restaurant was the place to go. The buns were steamed like they should be. The 'all the way" is the best way to go. They are generous with the toppings. we also ordered a chicken salad wrap which was very well prepared and presented. Fries were excellent also. The service is also excellent, you place your order at the counter and your food is delivered to your table. I would highly recommend Eats for lunch.

We needed a reservation for the bar seating because the limited tables were all booked. Reservations are a must days in advance. We tried three different appetizers, grilled cauliflower, steamers, and grilled octopus. We were very pleased with all three dishes. Flavor popped on every bite. For entrees we had the Nola Style Shrimp N' Grits, Folklore Burger, Salmon and Chicken Bowl specials. The Portuguese cooking style created mouth watering bites and succulent flavors. We were all very content, and full after our meals.

Ordered the clam chowder which was very good. It leans towards a Rhode Island Chowder, which I prefer vs. the creamy New England Chowder. Nice flavor, and the dice chourico was visible . I only found it a bit salty and it was served with a Portuguese roll. I also ordered the Cacoila sandwich which was also served with on a Portuguese roll and I opted for the seasoned fries which were very tasty. The pork was tender and flavorful, but again a bit salty for me. I don't use a lot of salt and my tolerance and taste of salt is low. Otherwise the sandwich & chowder had some nice flavors.

Service was friendly & helpful, and the menu offers many delicious sounding options. Food is fast casual style (order at the counter, get a card - here all were west side street signs, not the usual numbered placards, food will be delivered to your table. I had the avocado shakshuka, my husband had the lox omelet (see the photo). Despite the large menu of fancy coffee options, we each had a basic iced. It was served in a glass, which was a nice touch. Self serve milk was at a station in the dining room area. Coffee was good, cold but I would have traded some coffee for a bit more ice to stay that way as I drank it slowly. Both of us were surprised when our meals were delivered: the plates were beaut! In particular his omelet was absolutely gorgeous! Now for the flavors: the omelet had a generous helping of perfect cooked eggs (not sitting in a pile of grease, as restaurant omelets frequently are). It was so fluffy that we both thought "that's way more than the advertised 3 eggs," and the lox was thickly layered whole slices nestled inside the fold. Most places chop the lox like vegetables, add it to the eggs, & make it like a veggie omelet - meh. This iteration was perfect; the lox tasted like smoked salty fish, losing none of that flavor to the omelet itself. The potatoes? Fabulous! Great spice mix, cooked until they were crispy. That was a tasty bit of marble rye toast too. My shakshuka was very good, but a bit less successful. The elements were all excellent; the avocado was actually guacamole since it was mashed & there were tomatoes and spices in the dish. The combination worked, except for the bread element. The dish as presented was really more of an avocado toast with shakshuka on top. It might have been more successful to add the avocado/guacamole as a unique base on the plate, with the tomato sauce and eggs on top with toast on the side (as is the way shakshuka is traditionally served) because halfway through the bread got really soggy & less appetizing. Still, the first few bites, while everything was still warm? So good!

For the RI food fights challenge, they were serving a CRU Cookie Blazer--an iced dirty chai latte with hazelnut and vanilla syrup, vanilla cold foam, Oreos, and CRU mocha sauce. It's not normally on their menu, but they'll happily make it if you ask! This one was definitely more of a sweet treat than the bold coffee flavor I usually gravitate toward, but if you love dessert-inspired coffee drinks, this is right up your alley. I'll definitely be back because that lobster avocado toast has my name written all over it.
