Wow, we were very impressed with our dinner last night. We had one order of regular pho, and one of kimchi pho. The regular pho was in a delicious broth, and the flavors were exquisitely balanced and rich without being heavy. The kimchi was in a much richer sauce, and was surprisingly hot, but in a pleasant way. Service was great, prices are great. The owner came out from the kitchen and talked to us to make sure everything was good. Broadripple has plenty of good restaurants, and this is among the best. read more

I have been here twice--once take out and once eating in. Both were great experiences. I eat a plant-based diet, and while the menu doesn't highlight vegan options, the waitress was quick to point out options that could be prepared for me. The bahn mi sandwich with tofu was delicious. Served hot, subtly but nicely seasoned, on a wonderful french bread roll with the perfect crunchy outside and soft pillowy inside. The salad rolls were wonderful--two in an order with a side of tasty peanut dipping sauce. I also had pho with vegetable broth and tofu. This was the first time I'd had pho in a decade since I haven't seen a vegan option elsewhere. It was perfectly satisfying, served with a plate or crunchy bean sprouts, a stirring of fresh basil, a slice of jalapeno and a lime wedge. I honestly was really disappointed by the quality of food.... I was excited to finally find good viet food in Indy but that wasn't the case unfortunately. The noodles to the pho was hard because it barely got cooked and then the meatball they put into it seemed like it's been sitting out for a long time. And we were the only people in the restaurant at the time and the server was not engaged and didn't even ask how our food was! This place feels like coming to a friends home to eat. Despite some language barriers, the ladies were very nice and accommodating. The chef came out and was very receptive to changing the food to my specifications (I try to eat lower carb due to health reasons). The food was delicious and came out fast. We tried the steak and egg with a side of veggies versus noodles. We also tried the premium spicy beef. It wasn't too spicy, the broth was a deep and complex flavor profile and was really good. Overall the food was good but I was very surprised at the high food prices in comparison to the size of the soup. In terms of taste, the soup broth was 10/10. My husband and I came in on a Friday night after finding Eating Fresh on the Devour Indy menu. They have parking behind the restaurant. When we entered the restaurant, we were told to wait just a moment and they would be with us, and then were promptly seated. It looked like all of the tables are hotpot tables, which aren't the most comfortable, so I don't wish they had an option for those not getting hotpot. My husband started with a Sugar Cane juice. It was just okay to us (no fault of the restaurant, haha. Just wasn't our thing.) But we were able to observe them freshly squeezing it! For my appetizer, I had an egg roll. I thought this was good. It came out freshly made and hot. The sauce on the side was delicious. For my entree, I had the Roasted Pork Banh Mi. This was just good, not the best banh mi I've had. I thought it could use a little more flavor. The bun it was served on was crisp and delicious. I also appreciated how the jalapeños were served on the side. I messaged them on instagram asking if they had vegetarian options to which they responded they have "limited vegetarian options at the moment: vegetarian phở, vegetarian spring roll, and fried tofu." I was immediately greeted when I arrived and there were several other guests, as well. I opted to sit at the bar! There were a few additional vegetarian appetizers & desserts listed on the menu. I ordered the deep fried tofu but Chef Ricky was so accommodating and made a vegetarian egg roll for me which is not (yet) listed on the menu! He also made sure to ask about whether I was vegan or not -- I'm not but it's great that he asked. Both dishes were very delicious and flavorful. I LOVED the sauce that comes on the deep fried tofu and would come back for that alone! I only came out to have a few appetizers and drinks but I look forward to trying some entrees and desserts in the near future! Jaclyn was my server for the evening! She was very knowledgeable about the menu and provided prompt, reliable service. They have A5 wagyu for pho and grilling. They offer omakase meals. Want some sparkling, wines, or draft beer? They have it. The meats are sourced from local farms. The chicken are free range. Went on a date for valentines and made a reservation for 8pm. We got there and they had us wait for over 45 minutes. As we were waiting everyone at their tables looked flustered and we asked a few couples who said that they'd been waiting forever for their food. Then another couple showed up and they were seated before us. This restaurant clearly needs help and more management. We thought this would be a great new experience but our valentine's night was completely ruined. Came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I've eaten at a lot of Vietnamese restaurants and was excited to try a local, newish spot in Broad Ripple. The menu is expansive and featured many items that are traditional Vietnamese dishes. The menu reminded me of some of the Vietnamese restaurants on the west coast and included wagyu and other more speciality items. We were the only diners for lunch, which made it a little awkward, especially since it was such a big restaurant. We also had a waitress and a greeter for our table, which seemed a little excessive considering there was no one else there. The restaurant itself was beautiful. Very nicely decorated. The silverware is custom engraved with their restaurant name. This was a nice touch but honestly, the silverware felt a little cheaply made. The chopsticks were very hard to use because of how lightweight it was and I am very comfortable with using chopsticks. For food, we got the chicken lemongrass banh mi, the chicken pho, and the famous beef stew. Chicken Pho: I was pretty disappointed with the chicken pho. It was very bland and I couldn't taste the star anise, cinnamon, ginger, and other aromatics traditionally in pho. The chicken was also under seasoned and didn't taste super fresh. It also had a poached egg which was good, but I was a little confused since I've never had an egg in pho before. Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi: Really great flavor with this one and the chicken was cooked very well. The baguette was very soft on the inside but nicely toasted on the outside. I wished there was more pickled veggies, but that is my personal preference. Would recommend trying out their banh mi. Famous beef stew: Unique flavor profile with this one. Super flavorful with tender beef chunks m. My only complaint was that I wished there was more sauce to soak up with rice. We had lots of rice leftover and the ratio seemed a little off. Overall: I agree with most of the other reviews. There is potential, but I think there needs to be a clearer idea of the demographic they are trying to target. Broad ripple has a younger crowd from butler and maybe the focus on "modern and innovative" just doesn't fit the bill with the area. I think if the menu was condensed down with more fast casual items this would appeal to more of the area. Perhaps a lunch special to get more diners in the door. Prices are also slightly elevated compared to other Vietnamese restaurants, but not too unreasonable in my opinion. read more

I finally made the trip and it was 100% worth it!!! Especially with the cold weather outside, this is the perfect meal to warm you up My boyfriend and I never had Vietnamese food but love other cuisines similar to it so we had to give it a try. I went in thinking a bowl of spicy noodles would be the star (bc I was craving it) but left with the meatballs as my top dish. Our server was wonderful as well, she had been in America for only a year, explained the dishes well and how they make everything with fresh ingredients in house. I had never heard of artichoke tea and so I had to try it - it came out in this adorable kettle that kept it warm for the duration of our time there. I really wanted to like Eating Fresh, so much that I've ordered it twice now, but I think it's just not for me. As someone who has traveled to Vietnam, I expect pho to taste like pho. Today I ordered the chicken pho and even upsized to the "premium" size for $5 extra. What was delivered to me was a smaller portion of pho than the regular sized portion I've had at other restaurants in Indy. The broth was very bland and had none of the aromatics or flavor that I crave in a pho broth, and despite the name, nothing tasted all that fresh to me. The pho also came with a poached egg which made absolutely no sense to me, I've never had egg in pho and I don't like poached eggs so if I knew it was going to come with an egg I would've asked for it to be removed. I also ordered the "egg rolls" and I could barely finish one because it just tasted odd to me, not like a traditional fried Vietnamese spring roll that I'm used to. The texture and flavor of the filling left a lot to be desired in my opinion. I did get the food delivered by DoorDash and it's certainly possible that it tastes better in the restaurant, but I've had pho delivered for half the price that was twice as good. I really hate to leave a bad review, as I'm sure lots of people have great experiences here, but if you are looking for traditional Vietnamese flavors in a pho I would recommend looking elsewhere. read more

It's a work in progress. Many others have conveyed frustrations with staffing, service and menu items. It's a new place and everyone is getting used to it. Hot pot is still not ready but I will be eager to return when it is. Our server was friendly, she lets us know they didn't have hot pot immediately when we entered- we did come here for this but we're happy with using the grill. They had limited sake options and none of them were hot, which was a bit odd but we settled for a cold option and it was just fine. We ordered two appetizers to start, egg rolls and the stuffed squid. The chef ended up coming out and saying he made the squid and it was not up to his standards and that we should pick another appetizer - he suggested the chicken lettuce wraps. The wraps were cooked perfectly and tasted great. An excellent suggestion although I still wonder about the squid. Egg rolls were crispy and delicious too. We ordered filet mignon and pork belly to cook on the grill. It came with a small soup and rice as sides. The soup was just chopped filet in their pho broth. I'm a big pho girl and this was definitely up to standard. The filet was awesome. The pork belly came in two gigantic hunks which was unlike any pork belly we have ever ordered before. Usually it comes in super thin slices so that they cook quickly. With the giant pieces we got I wasn't sure how long to cook them for without potentially getting food poisoning and they should really look into how they serve this item for safety. A bit hard to get to, but that is Broadripple for you. Right on College, next to the Vogue. The restaurant itself is stunning. Modern with flair. And a lot bigger than I anticipated. The menu looks very interesting and promising, just not everything is available right now and what is available does apparently run out a lot. I am hoping those are start up problems and that they will get in the swing of things. Same with the service. While very friendly, it wasn't very efficient and we had to request water refills and such several times over even so the restaurant was not at all busy. And I only had 8 guests with me this time. However, I had ordered the spicy beef noodle soup and this huge bowl of goodness was just the right thing for a crisp evening. The various meats floating in my bowl were rather grizzly and/or fatty, which I detest. Some folks like it, I do not. The parts of meat that I did eat, were super tender and so wonderfully seasoned that I wished I could eat the grizzly stuff. The broth though was the most freakin' delish I have ever had and I could drink this by the bucket. Don't let the name 'spicy beef' fool you. This is very savory with a little umpf, but I would not call it spicy. I did run into some difficulty with the noodles. Since they use metal chop sticks here and noodles in broth are quite slippery in nature, fishing these out is not an easy task. I was almost forced to use a fork, how embarrassing, but alas I managed (made a mess though). My guests were quite satisfied with their food choices, even so a few items we were looking forward to were unavailable tonight. The pho, lettuce wraps, egg rolls, wings and Vietnamese coffee were all well received. I was very disappointed that I did not get to try the sugar cane juice or the coffee flan. We did try the fried bananas and they were just not my thing. You get like half a banana in batter drizzled with some kind of sugary icing and sprinkled with nuts. The steak pho is excellent. I semi regret not trying other items, but we're just love what we order every time! The ambience is very calming with with music and close circuit videos of what I presume are Vietnamese forest, and the birds and other animals inhabit it. People have commented on the slow service, but I find it to be very relaxing. This was a terrible experience, in all the ways it could have been. First, our service was unfriendly, unhelpful and extremely slow, despite the fact that there were only 2 other tables in the restaurant. Our party of 5 ordered spring rolls and edamame to start. The spring rolls were fine, and we were making our way through the edamame when my daughter found a worm in her food. A WORM. We called our server over and she had no idea how to handle the situation. She took a photo of it and then awkwardly took the food away. No apology. She just said she wouldn't charge us for that dish. I will say it was hard for me to view the food quality in a positive way after that. I got my special pho first, and sat. And sat, and sat, while we waited at least 10 minutes between each dish to arrive at our table, painfully one by one. We ordered banh mi and fried rice, so nothing complicated. The food was extremely mediocre. All the while, the restaurant seemed to have no functioning hoods or vents. The entire room was filled with a haze that smelled of fried food, which is now coating everything we had with us while dining.
