Grilled Cheese from Eat Street Cafe at MGH. The world's worst grilled cheese !!!
Scot M.

MGH Eat Street cafe. A place where one can consistently find the ones and zeros on the one to ten food scale. Home of the worlds worst Tacos and Pasta now definitively the worlds worst Grilled Cheese. The gooey orange American cheese food is tasteless and sticky. But what really sets this sandwich at the bottom of the barrel is the rancid after taste of the mystery grease they slather on the firm dry bread they use to make this sandwich adhere to the grill. The rancid oil flavor overpowers any chance the cheese or bread may have and says "this is gross" in every bite. Yikes! I recommend skipping this choice unless you need a sure fire way to make a bad day worse....

Not my first time coming to this cafeteria. I only come here when I'm starving and don't really want to go out for my break. I like trying a bunch of food and I saw this one day. Since it's winter time and I kind of crave some hot soup for my meals I found the pho selection on the menu. I decided to try it! I thought it was similar to the regular pho but it wasn't. After I tried it I think I would never get it again. First, they don't have that much broth in it so it made it just like a pile of raw veggies in a plastic container, then when I ate it I didn't know they have chunks of jalapeño peppers in it. I thought it was just some green bell peppers so I ate it. But when I did my mouth was just on fire I couldn't taste anything else aside from the spicy feeling inside my mouth I cant even eat half of the food I got. It was horrible. I don't ever want to get that food again.

Walked over to the main campus at MA Gen. Hospital from the Yawkey Outpatient building via pedestrian bridge. If you come this way follow signs to main lobby, then, turn left at information and down a flight of stairs. There are elevators too if you need them. The first thing you see when entering the cafeteria is dessert. I like this place already. The second thing you see if a huge salad bar. Four kinds of lettuce, beets, broccoli, mixed salads and marinated veg options plus all the things you expect. Then you have meats, eggs, cheeses, beans, seeds, and more. I like this place even more. Other lunch options included pizza, sandwiches, soups, entrees, burgers, grilled cheese, mac & cheese, and plenty more. The day we visited, the soup choices were: chicken noodle, turkey rice and pumpkin. Plenty of food choices to meet most needs and moods. A small breakfast offering included scrambled eggs, bacon, hash and potatoes. Not sure if other stations had other offerings - we arrived as breakfast ended (10:00) and lunch began. Salads are priced by weight, most cashiers take cash or credit unless otherwise 'signed'. There is no 'electronic app' payment accepted. Sorry apple and samsung. Once past the cashier get you napkin and plastic cutlery. The plastic flatware is rather flimsy but got the job done. Just don't push too hard on that fork. Seating is a mix of benches on one side and seats on the other making them wheelchair accessible. Although there are lots of seats here, if the dining room is full, you can try to find some across the hall (behind the stairs). The ice cream shop didn't look open during our visit, but I did notice there are microwave ovens against the wall in this section, right next to the dining area. Maybe you can heat up you lunch here? Before leaving, bus your table and leave everything at the station provided by the exit. Whether a patient, family or employee, or even if you work nearby, this could be a healthy lunch option.

Turkey!!!

So happy now that outside people can now access the cafeteria again since plague! If in the area...this is a good bet for wicked pissah grub! They have a good number of choices...Carvery for hot meals...Papa Gino's Pizza station...a grill for good burgers and Chicken sandwiches...Panini station...a fairly good salad bar...and some other groovy options as well! Carvery is usually what old Stinky P.goes for! Usually two groovy choices...meat and non-meat. They used to have three options before plague...hopefully they can add back the third option again at some time. The grub is usually of good quality...and veggies fresh...not canned stuff. Much better than the inpatient food. Know that from experience. They have been having Turkey on Mondays lately. One of the best options. All this for 8.50 with stuffing and veggies. Wicked tasty! No dessert for old Stinky today...as he is trying to keep his figure. Also...it is always groovy to see all the good looking doctors and nurses.

Sometimes the food is great! Other times it sucks and there aren't many options. Hazelnut coffee here is the best. Service is okay.

I LOVE THE GREEK DONUTS AT SALONIKI GREEK! Omg! I'm…read moreabsolutely obsessed w/ their donuts, specifically the cinnamon + honey one. Saloniki Greek is a local chain in the Boston Area that was founded in 2016, w/ this being their first location! Now they have expanded w/ 5 locations total-- Fenway, Newbury St/Back Bay, Downtown, Cambridge (MIT), & Cambridge (Harvard Sq). The first time I had it was at their Newbury St location, & it was my first time the other day trying it from here... safe to say they definitely NAILED IT! I actually think this time around, Fenway made the donuts better hahaha. It was pretty chill the day we visited so ordering was a breeze & took ~5ish minutes for our donuts to be ready. They come piping hot & are the perfect dessert for after ANY meal. I've had their gyros before but always find myself coming back for their Greek donuts, highly recommend! ***Also, if you have a Student ID, you can get a free order of Greek fries if you order either a salad, sandwich, or plate. ***

Right down the block from Tasty. How did I not realize they had a SG here…read more The lady brought me for some desert in Greek fried doughnut balls! We got honey cinnamon flavor, they also had Dubai choco, pumpkin spice pie, greek sour cherry, and caramel pistachio and plain! The doughnuts were nice and chew like mochi! Enjoyed it with the honey and cinnamon! They have a full menu for lunch / dinner dishes too. Gyros, plates, fries. kebab plates, frozen yogurts so many items! Going to come back and try others. Have only ordered the doughnuts from their locations! Just so happened to be snack time!
