What was supposed to be a straightforward one-bedroom move turned into a 9-hour disaster that cost me over $2,400, resulted in a ruined $1,000 mattress, and was topped off with dishonesty and zero accountability from the owner. The movers arrived nearly 4 hours late -- 2:52 PM for an 11:00-11:30 AM time window -- which forced me to pay double drive-time during rush hour. They didn't finish until 11:30 PM, at which point I had to send them home without completing the job because I had work the next day. My bed frame was unassembled, and I was left sleeping on the floor. Then came the worst part: My mattress was dragged through cat urine, destroying it. I had to pay an additional $400 to replace it, and I provided a receipt as proof. Instead of taking responsibility, the owner, Oscar, attempted to blame me -- claiming the mattress was already soiled before they touched it. That's not just false -- it's gaslighting. My ex-husband was present and witnessed the entire thing: The mattress was upright against the wall, away from the mess. He picked up our frightened cat, who peed and pooped on him. He immediately pointed out the urine and feces to the movers and showed them the stains on his pants. He told them he'd be back in 20 minutes to clean and assumed they'd move items from the other room in the meantime. Instead, they dragged my mattress right through the mess. Oscar's own son witnessed this interaction -- all three of them stood there discussing it. Even worse: my brother was quoted a flat rate just under $3,000 by the same company for moving an entire two-bedroom house over 6 hours away -- and I paid over $1,000 (hourly rate alone) for a local move 45 minutes across town? It gets worse. They offered me 15% discount so roughly 100 bucks?? Not nearly sufficient. When I told my building manager (the only good part of my move -- 5 stars to her), she was so appalled by the situation that she blacklisted the company across both of the luxury buildings she manages. To which I received several figures from several moving companies, they all offered the same, no charge for flights of stairs, upfront pricing, no hidden costs, no charge for packing supplies, etc. I was on a budget and decided to go with "Easy Moving" because their number was so much lower than their competitors, and I figured I don't really have any expensive items that I care about too much if it was mishandled. Oscar, the owner quoted me through our string of yelp messages $85/hr for 2 movers with a truck, and all the fixings, 3-4 hrs, minimum 3 hours at $255 if I paid in cash. Other places quoted me well over $400, so with that I picked Oscar at EM. He said he would send me an email with a contract. When I received the order the price had changed to $95/hr. So I messaged Oscar, and matter of frankly, I said you said $85 not $95. He said oh so sorry I've been very busy and forgot. Forgot??? Ok so I am not a huge reviewer but I felt compelled to tell the entire yelp community how amazing this business is. I absolutely hate moving. Finding a new place is difficult enough with the credit check background check application then cross your fingers somebody else hasn't already swooped it up! Then when ya finally find a spot it's time to 1) get a truck, 2) get insurance 3) find a group of peoples honest and loyal enough to help you lift heavy furniture on their days off. It's just hell in a hand basket !!! Easy moving takes care of ALL of it ! They are a full service company. They have their own truck (see below) that can easily handle most peoples needing moves. I know I had tons of stuff and it all fit easily. More important, they take GOOD care of your valuables. They wrap em they lift em they measure em! What more could you really ask for ? Assembly and disassembly? You bet. Icing on top! They have their own tools and they have brains for this stuff. I really can't say enough nice things about these guys. They carry themselves with the utmost of professionalism and care and as an attorney I truly appreciate the care they take for the personal and real property. Thank you guys so much! If there was a way to give no stars I would. but I want to make this review as helpful as possible. So I will mention the very little positive along with the biggest issue. initially we had a start time of 9am. I had to call our original contact, Oscar, to ask if they were still coming. Finally I received a call that the "guys" were on their way in 45 mins. They started over an hour after our agreed upon time that Oscar provided us. And began 10-15 mins into the hour. All the guys were kind to us and my two littles who are under two. We provided them with water and lunch. I have no personal issues with them. They seemed to work at a relatively fine pace and were kind. unfortunately there were issues with the loading of our things. Most of it arrived on the truck without any harm. But I watched one guy, Celso, run our Floyd bed into the tree on the way to the truck. I thought to myself maybe there is no damage or if there is he will tell me. this did not happen. I had to unpack all of my stuff to find the bed had a gash in it and scratches on it. I would also like to note that I had to inform them that they missed items in a closet and to finish packing it and then they still left some items at the house. As some of you may know you're not always able to be at the home when the movers leave. so Some items were left behind. The owner blames me for this And laughed at me when I informed him of them leaving furniture outside of my home in the drive way. But I'll get back to that later. Then once they arrive at the be location 40 mins after my husband who orginally left the old location 15 mins after them... I was concerned. I actually called them to see when they were arriving and where to park because it was almost an hour. The locations were 12 mins apart. I think they were getting gas. Which is supposed to save you money right? you don't pay for their gas but it takes them an hour to get it. Just follow them to the new location and that won't happen to you (Hot tip #2). Then when they arrive they tell me that I need to unpack their boxes that they used before they leave. Didn't even know they were going to use their boxes. btw I have two under two that I'm trying to manage While this is happening. And when they moved our washer and dryer inside they scraped up our door. We asked them to take off the door they eventually did. The items fit. We even had to remind them to put the door back on before leaving. Now I'm reasonable. I work in operations. I know things get lost in communication or go wrong. So I communicated with pictures to Oscar. Now is Oscar the owner, I don't know. I hope not. I hope the owner reads this and reaches out to me because I'm irate at the interaction with this man. I sent my a text and photos because it's the way he communicates the fastest (hot tip #3). No response. so then we call and we informed him that we sent him photos... he says he didn't get them. And that he will talk to his guys. Now the only thing we didn't mention in the text is the damage to the door. Everything else was disclosed. But we thought maybe we can just fix the door with paint.... just trying to give the workers a break. Oscar said he would get back to me in a "bit". I told him I had to have that stuff moved because we had to be out of that location by end of day. No response from him all day. At 8:00pm I head over with my mother to figure out how to move an entire cabinet in my prius and we text Oscar. we then hop on a call and he offers to come pick it up with his truck. well in LA it is unwise to meet with anyone in the dark at 9 or 10 at night with someone you don't know in a dark empty location. So I said I do not feel comfortable with him or his guys coming back there with just us. And he begins laughing at the situation saying that this is our fault. The guys asked if everything was packed. he asked if I actually witnessed his guys damaging the bed. I mean no ownership or really belief in what I was saying. And now it's believed because it did happen. He also wouldn't take any ownership for not getting back to me. Then a week and a half later our new landlord saw the damage to the door. And he doesn't want new paint. He wants a new door because of the damage being so bad. Oscar wants to speak to my husband, the land lord, anyone other than me. My money was good enough for him to take but not my word. And now we're stuck with moving the furniture they left, contacting floyd for a new bed so Oscar doesn't have to pay for it (it's under warranty), and now paying for a door. We had to pay the guys an extra hour when they were mia. But the worst part of all is the communication with Oscar. I feel that because I'm a woman he berated me and has tried to assert himself as dominate and not see me as a customer. Which is ridiculous. He is willing to talk to my husband but not me. What started out as a really good decision on picking a moving company ended up being a complete disaster. Easy moving movers initiated a very good business etiquette in the beginning of the move, the guys were super helpful and did the job pretty efficiently. But during the packing stages and wrapping of my items my 86 inch Samsung television was wrapped and packaged onto their vehicle being in perfect condition before the move and now my television is broken where the screen has been cracked from inside as if something had pressed against it on their truck. Now I'm being told that I must have broken my own TV before the move, so basically Oscar is saying I had them move a broken television. Not only is that disrespectful but it's absurd in every sense of the word. These guys don't want to be held liable and take responsibility for their mistake and now I haven't been able to reach them at all in fixing this issue. I have my television working on my ring cameras throughout the entire time before they moved it. I would not recommend these guys to anyone they're not honest and they're not upright when it comes to doing good business they don't deserve one star in the review. so as you can see I've placed pictures of the TV being broken, and the guy Oscar has the nerve to tell me that my TV must have been broken before they moved it.! Who within their right mind moves a broken television? This company is a complete scam when it comes to being responsible for their mistakes I have other things that have been broken by this company that I didn't complain about. Oscar and his team were amazing. Incredibly responsive and flexible. We even had to move our move date the night before and Oscar happily adjusted his schedule to make it work. We chose to move on one of the hottest days of the year, it was 107 degrees and the movers were all super positive, didn't complain and handled all our furniture with care. Additionally, they charged a steep fee for "heavy furniture," even though the furniture moved was typical house furniture (bed frame, dresser, table, couch, bookshelf), which we were not told about until they arrived. Upon arrival they asked what they were moving so I showed them the rooms and boxes that needed to be put in the truck.
