Friendly skate shop - visited while staying with family in Vernon. Bought Doh Doh bushings for my skateboard.

They are friendly shop staff. They're very knowledgeable with a decent selection for a smaller store. Typical pricing.

Stop asking me can you help me, twice is maybe ok. But Yesterday 05/01/2019 at 7:15pm I drove from teaching a class in Bridgeport ( I should of went to a Gap up there but this one was close to home) and needed two dresses for my daughter for a fashion show and her first time at the theater. She was super excited because the sign said "Dresses for spring and everything". I was excited because I had to use the bathroom so bad. I could not even focus, my little one went to the dresses I danced to the clerk and asked for the bathroom while doing the familiar pee-pee dance. By the time I got to the bathroom door my pants were half-staff. Lo and Behold a sign read out of service. I had to sit on the floor to ensure there would be no clean up. I stood up and said to the lady " this bathroom is out of order can I use yours" she said "let me ask the manager." The manager said "NO". I danced passed the manager telling me to try a different store and my little asking if we are coming back. I am a customer and a card holder, I have made a choice to spend my hard earned money at the Gap and costumer service means a lot to me. Proper customer service sends a message that a company appreciate the choice I have made in using my spending dollars at their establishment. I will not be back, to many other places sells little girl dresses.

I came in once looking for black sleeveless shirts, and I found them 50% off, so I bought a couple, and came in a few days later, looking for more because my friends wanted some too. The store is rarely crowded, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Sometimes, I don't get how the clothes are arranged, but usually just browsing around, one can find what they need. Towards the back of the store is the sales rack, where I usually go, and for the most part, it is arranged neatly and doesn't have the picked over appearance.

They require…read morethat you have the receipt and tags and are clear that they require this because they re-sell the items. It is non-hygienic to say the very least, not to mention leaving no accountability for potentially defective merchandise. If they wish to be in the business of reselling previously worn merchandise, they should define themselves as a thrift or consignment store. I was simply attempting to do an even exchange and when I returned with their tags and receipt, the store I visited didn't carry the size I needed. I looked this company up and learned they filed bankruptcy which makes complete sense given my above mentioned experience. I called the District Manager to communicate my concerns and never received a call back. Their extreme and stringent return policy makes it clear that this store does not want to do returns and further that they do not stand behind their merchandise. I will never shop in any one of these stores again for any reason under any circumstances. Mr. Beezos from Amazon just keeps laughing I'm sure because he knows retail stores like this will continue to do themselves in with practices like those described above. The CEO of the company overseeing this mess of a retail chain should not be surprised when sales continue to dwindle and they face a second bankruptcy in the future.

After seeing the need for a community bike shop in New Haven, Feiner used the last $600 in his bank account to open his own shop. It originally opened in a cramped old Wooster Square factory space at 433 Chapel Street. For his new shop, Feiner chose the name "The Devil's Gear" as a reference to the 1988 Paris-Nice stage race. The French press said that Irish cyclist Sean Kelly was riding "the devil's gear". In addition to selling bicycles, the shop also hosts bike tours, maintenance clinics and weekly training rides. The shop has made a number of moves over the years: first to 151 Orange Street, then down the street to 137 Orange, and finally to their current location at 845 Chapel Street. In 2018, longtime employees John Brehon and Greg Ledovsky came on board as co-owners of the shop. Feiner later stepped down due to medical reasons, but Brehon and Ledovsky continue to build on the foundation and legacy that he left behind. In 2021, Brehon and Ledovsky decided to start selling skateboards at the shop too. Local skateboarder J. Joseph came on board to handle the skateboard department. I've been doing business with the Devil's Gear for well over 10 years. When I first became interested in cycling, I went there to get all of my cycling accessories and helpful tips. I still ride a 2013 Jamis Satellite Sport road bike in a beautiful Tiger's Eye finish which I bought from the shop. I take it back to the shop every year for my annual tune-up. In addition to all of their great products and services, The Devil's Gear does a lot for the local cycling community. They have provided all of the technical support for Smilow Cancer Hospital's Closer to Free Ride for several years. I'm about to start training for my seventh consecutive CTF Ride. Whether you've been cycling for several years or you're just looking to get into cycling, you should definitely head down to The Devil's Gear!

The return was an online order and I had the electronic receipt with the barcode ready to scan. Krissette says, no it doesn't work like that I need your phone number. Not understanding why since I had a receipt, but I gave it to her. Nothing comes up so she asks me for my email address. I again tried to tell her that she can scan the barcode I had instead of all this hassle. She begins arguing with me so I give her my email address. She then tells me I'll get $3 dollars for the item because it's the current selling price. I tell her no and asked to speak to a manager, as I had a receipt that showed I paid $15 and the return was within the 90 days store policy. She tells me she's the manager. After several back and forth she finally agrees to scan the electronic receipt but act as if the scanner couldn't move to scan my phone without me giving it to her. She then asked me if I wanted to come back when the manager was there to complete my transaction! Ma'am you told me you were the manager!! She finally scans the receipt and the purchase of course comes up with the price I paid. She then says, are you happy now? "Now get out the way so I can take care of the other customers waiting." I told her this would have been a 30 second transaction if she would have scanned the barcode on the receipt to begin with. Her attitude, customer service and knowledge was extremely poor and a horrible representation of a children's clothing brand. I'm so glad I did not have my child with me to experience such rudeness, ignorance and unprofessionalism. Carters please do a better job training your employees! Krissette is an extremely poor representation of Carters!
