Now let's give this review some context. We're talking about Webster here. Webster's idea of fine dining is KFC/Taco Bell. Having said that, this place is fantastic! Being able to get decent, cheap sushi when I visit my family is really nice. The spider roll is great! I'd avoid the nabeyaki udon - kinda bland. My wife and I have been eating her since it opened. I used to have to go to worcester/natick or sturbridge for really good sushi. Now I go all the way from Dudley to Webster. The place is beautiful inside and the food both sushi and chinese is really good. Aldente vegatables! One of the Sushi chef's Eric, trained under Olga. Any of you that know the boston/natick sushi scene know Olga frim Ginza and his own place in Natick. That explains the care and presentation as he was trained by one of the true masters. I generally sit at the sushi bar and have always had a great experince. Also, I didn't know they converted the downstairs into a group event place for parties and gatherings. read more

Probably my favorite Chinese/Japanese restaurant hands down! Everything I order I love, and im not really a huge fan of chinese food! The best thing about Eastern Pearl for me is their sushi...love, love, love it! Always made fresh, always consistent and the sushi chefs always put a personal spin on it which is fun! Recently went in for sashimi and for 20 bucks i got 16pcs of nice cut raw fish, 6 different varieties, with soup! Not thrilled about the lack of dipping sauce with it or the lack of description as to what everything was but it was amazing! Just needs a wider beer selection! lol read more

We went here last week for dinner the first time. Thank You YELP! Good reviews and here is another. The dining landscape in Webster is not great but "The Pearl" is a little gem. We were in a bit of a hurry and pleasantly, we got there quickly, free parking in their lot. Seated quickly and ordered within a few minutes. The menu is quite long. They have sushi as well as Chinese/Asian dishes. I got fried rice, chicken and broccoli and an egg roll. My wife got sushi with eel and we shared. The food was tops. The ambiance was refreshing. Not extremely loud or obtrusive. The seating was comfortable and clean. Yes, there is an amazing chandelier and the place was decorated nicely. We were out of there on time and the bill was very reasonable. It may warrant 5 stars. I am looking forward to our next visit and will edit this post at that time. read more

The ambiance of the dining room is great with the wood paneling and open vibe from the bank's shell Eastern Pearl hermit crabbed into. I'm a fan of the Japanese onion soup - I always seem to order it when it's available. Again, the dishes are Americanized, so don't expect authentic items like jellyfish, stinky tofu, or dim sum, but if you have a sweet-tooth and General Tao's chicken is your jam, this is your place. read more

had eaten here before but in the restaurant . Take out tonight spent close to $100 for food that was over cooked , bland , tasteless . The egg rolls were no better than the ones you get from the freezer section , and severely over cooked , the crab ragoon like little rocks , chicken wings over cooked , so difficult to get the meat from the bones . The fried rice omg nothing more than rice a roni with onions , and chicken pieces in it . No egg , very little seasoning , and mushy . Sop extremely disappointed . And for an order close to $100 only got one tiny container of duck sauce , no hot mustard . The lo Mein total disappointment floating in grease . Had me wondering if they were simply overwhelmed by orders for New Year's eve . Appeared they seemed to make too little , then attempted to add certain things without adjusting the seasonings for more . If I could have given this place negative stars I would have . I recommend never using them for take out . The only thing worth eating in our entire order was one sushi roll .Ordered Gai Poo Lo Mein , and I am guessing here at Eastern Pearl the Lo Mein prt doesn't come as part of the dish . The Dragon and Phoenix had three shrimp total , coated in a sweet and sour sauce . The tangerine chicken tasted as if it was tossed in tangerine marmalade instead of tangerine sauce . Called to complain and was told " what did I expect , their food is the best . " .. Sadly most of the order went into the garbage as it was fairly inedible . The TV dinner we had to eat was far more palatable then the food I spent close $100 for at Eastern Pearl . Next time I will do the traveling and head closer to Worcester to get dinner . read more

Superb food and beautiful building! What this area REALLY needed! One complaint: needs full bar and nicer bartender (had to delete a star because of her). Portion size and quality of General Tso's chicken, Kung Pao Chicken and Spider roll were pathetic on NewYears Eve night. It was immediately apparent that this restaurant cut portion sizes to accommodate for the volume of orders, despite keeping there relatively high prices. In addition because of there poor planning, my order became cold sitting on a shelf while I waited over 30 minutes past my pickup time. read more

I usually love this place, and often go there for a late dinner, or to grab take-out. However, I must say that customer service sometimes is not their strongest. I love their soups, and for tonight's take-out order, asked for a large of their Japanese onion soup. (I've done this before, and it didn't seem to be an issue, although it's uncommon for them, they were able to accommodate me.) This time, they charged me twice for a small sized soup container, when I questioned the receptionist, she told me it was their largest size option. Since I've done this before I know that this is not the case. Regardless, drinks are good, but menu (especially the sushi menu) never changes and can become stale for someone that goes more than once a month. I may recommend branching out for other options if take-out is your angle. read more

My god I haven't got so sick in my entire life from a place that calls themselves "Chinese". Worst "chinese" food next to empire buffet in Putnam CT! Food was cold and on the soggy side. There was something metallic in my spare ribs! And the owners completely shaked it off like it was nothing! Dishes still had specs on food on them from previous meals! This is without a doubt the best Chinese food restaurant within a 10 mile vicinity of Webster. The best part about this place is that they have a great Japanese-style menu along with sushi. When I am bulking up, the standard sesame chicken and fried rice along with apps fill me up good without too much grease. When I am feeling a little more modest, the bento box for lunch is amazing and surprisingly compares to some of the Japanese restaurants I have been to in Boston. The sushi is also high quality, and the rainbow roll is my go-to favorite. I usually opt for raw fish, so quality is usually important. In terms of price, it fits just around the normal sitdown Chinese food restaurant; not too high to be unreasonable but more expensive than Main Street Chinese. This is a great place for lunch and dinner. I did notice that the takeout isn't as good as eating it there, but when is it ever. read more

The ambiance inside the restaurant is jaw dropping beautiful. I had the sushi which was good. The prices were reasonable and the green tea ice cream was fantastic. What detracted from the experience was the cup I was served water in had black spots on it and was sticky from grease. I'm assuming their kitchen hood isn't cleaned regularly so the grease builds on on kitchen equipment. The napkin on my table was dirty as well. Just moved to the area and found this hidden gem! The food here is the best, freshest, tastiest Chinese food I have ever had! We haven't tried anything that has been subpar at all! They have the BEST egg foo young I have ever had with the best gravy! If you haven't tried this place, do yourself a favor and try it! You won't be disappointed! I guarantee it! They also have quite a large sushi selection if you are into that but I can't comment on it since I don't eat it! LOL read more

This was my first time trying the Eastern Pearl. I chose take-out for my method of dining. The menu had many offerings. My partner and I chose the basic PU-PU platter some pork rice and spicy beef and vegetable dish. The total cost was around $40. The food portions were reasonable. All of the food tasted very fresh. My partner found the pork rice to be very bland but I was impressed with the rice not being over whelmed with pork flavoring and that NOT one piece of rice was clumped together. The batter on the chicken fingers and fried shrimp was cooked to perfection and the egg rolls were very flavorful. The menu described the the beef vegetable dish as "spicy" but being a "spicy" fan I will request a little more "spiciness" be added. Otherwise the beef was tender and the vegetables had a nice crisp to them. My partner felt that the portions were a little smaller than some other Chinese restaurants we have frequented in the area but I explained would you rather a large amount of fair tasting food or a little smaller amount of very good tasting food? She agreed on the later. I have found my new place to visit for my Chinese food craving. I look forward to dining in the next time I visit the restaurant and trying their sushi dishes. Definitely my favorite place to go in town. Their Chinese food is AMAZING. Best around in my opinion. Their sushi needs a little work, however. I'm big on sushi and it's definitely not the greatest I've had. I usually stick to the regular menu. The last couple times I've been there, our waitress was actually pretty rude. She took our bill, which we had left cash for, and while she was still in front of us while we were finishing our drinks, she proceeded to count the cash we had left right in front of us! Plus she didn't bother talking to us the whole time. I love the food and the restaurant is beautiful inside, but I'll stick with pick up instead of dining in. read more

This place is abysmal. When my friend and I came here for lunch, we were "greeted" by a gentleman who didn't say a word to us, just brought us to a table and slapped down some menus. We ordered the hibachi chicken lunches and a spicy salmon roll. The rice that came with our meals was what seemed to be pork fried rice, and was so dry you could've told me it was from yesterday and I would've believed you. The chicken was cold and was swimming in a sauce along with the vegetables that seemed like a weird thick teriyaki, but it wasn't teriyaki. Who knows what it was. The sushi was probably the best part of our meal, but even then, the ratio of rice to filling in the roll was all off...a very thin layer of poorly seasoned sushi rice wrapped around the outside. Our waiter also didn't say much, and wasn't very friendly. Safe to say we will definitely not be recommending this restaurant to anyone or revisiting ever again. read more

We ordered takeout here over the weekend while visiting friends in the area. The udon had very few actual noodles in it and the chicken fingers were not actually cooked all the way though. The rangoons were good thats why I gave more than one star. I will not be back though. read more

Cannot. Say. Enough! FINALLY a really great Chinese/Japanese restaurant in the Webster area (close enough for a drive for people from the Thompson/Woodstock area)! Great atmosphere: a very clean and well decorated restaurant with super fast and very courteous service, and the FOOD IS AMAZING :) We did take-out, and ordered a combo appetizer, wonton soup, egg roll and beef yaki soba (Japanese noodle dish). The wonton soup was some of the best I have ever had, with fresh mushrooms and pea pods; the teriyaki beef was VERY tender and wonderfully flavored. The egg rolls are simply delicious. The yaki soba beef was outstanding; the noodles were cooked to perfection. Food is very fresh, well-flavored, and best of all - I explained my shrimp allergy at the beginning of my order and they took the time to explain what I could order and what I couldn't. Ordered take out, checked everything on our receipt that it was correct on the outside of our bag, then got home and we had a completely different order. Called the restaurant and explained what happened, they asked us to bring back the incorrect food and we could come pick up our order. Got to the restaurant and spoke with the "manager" who explained that it was very busy (restaurant was empty) and she said it would be a few minutes. While I waited I was asked where the incorrect food was, I said for one I can't bring it back to you that's a health code violation and two I threw it away. I asked the "manager" why she doesn't check the bags before they are packaged up. The receipt is correct but what is in the bag isn't. She said oh you know I don't do this the other women is here and I was busy in front. Again the restaurant was completely empty. She was willingly to refund my money for the incorrect items. Then comes over the "manager" who said he wasn't allowing that and it's like going to the store and picking up the wrong thing and returning it. I said for one it's not the same at all, I placed and order with you, and you didn't package my order correctly. He got loud and stated that he was the "owner" and slammed his fist on the counter. My husband picked up the take-out order so I'm not sure of the decor but he said it was pretty cool inside, how they incorporated the old bank. My boyfriend and I went here for dinner last night. We have been here a few times we have been very pleased with our food. He tends to lean towards getting sushi rolls and loves them. They are big. Last night I got the hibachi chicken it comes with rice, lo mein, and two shrimps. It also comes with a soup and salad. We also started with the tako Su appetizer it was delicious. One of our very favorite restaurants. Reasonably priced and the food is the best. Never felt slightly ambiguous on any dish, loved them all. Drinks are blended perfectly and reasonably priced for what you get. Beyond that...we love the waitstaff, our waitress knows us, is always cheery. Wosrt service ever. Lets see were to begin. First off we ask for separate bills didnot happen. Took an hour for our food to come and the couple me and my fiance were with didn't get there's till 20 min after we did. No one asked how we were doing or if we needed drinks . Then when we asked to speak to the manager the lady acted like she was the manager. Then said the manager was busy . Then when we asked a thirdtime . She rolled her eyes and walked away. The bartender came over ssaying he was the manager . As we told him the iissues we had he tryed to play it off that it was our fault . Then said hel go talk to the chief when it had nothing to do with the chief and walked right back to the bar and didn't even talk to anyone and completely ignored us like nothing happened .
