Hands down, this is our family's favorite restaurant. We fell in love with the food which is so interesting and delicious. I love that they will make things the way we specifically ask. This is a family run business that won't compromise on quality and the recipes are authentic. You can find some traditional favorites but you can also explore some new flavors. Sometimes we go through the drive-thru window to pick up but we always enjoy going there in person because the service is friendly and excellent. We have been here twice and had FANTASTIC experiences both times. The first time was adult date night and the second time I took my 3 kids. We have tried quite a few different things on the menu and we have not been disappointed by even one item. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. First of all, this place has amazing service. Who I'm assuming is the owner, is very friendly and extremely personable. He took the time to go to each table multiple times to check on patrons and engage in short conversations. It was very nice. I got the coconut soup and pineapple friend rice. My boyfriend got the green curry. Everything was delicious. Definitely the best green curry we have been able to find in the area, very spicy which we love, but it seemed like you could request mild if you wanted. The coconut soup was great and something I'd never tried. We also got the lava cake and ice cream for dessert which was pretty good too! Update: After reading today's (10/12/2018) restaurant inspection report, def won't be back. Ew. https://lancasteronline.com/business/restaurant_inspections/ ___________ OK, after two visits, here is my take on this new restaurant. I was excited for this place to open, especially since I love Burmese food (hard to find--but I lived in San Francisco for several years, where a Burmese friend introduced me to some heavenly dishes). It's a varied and delicious cuisine, when done right. First visit was for take-out. After checking out the menu, ordered one Burmese chicken curry ($13) and one beef curry ($14). The descriptions varied significantly and sounded delish (this was before menu update--they're still differently described--but they had been described a LOT differently prior to the replaced menu--different spices, vegetables, etc.). Both curries came in 4 containers: Red liquid in a plastic container with about 1" of grease on the top. Small (1/2 pint?) container with a few meager veggies. White rice. The only variation were the containers holding the beef and chicken; these were identically cooked, had some nice spice undertones, but were much too salty. Disappointing. I'd asked if they had coconut rice to go with the curry--this IMO makes real Burmese food extra delicious. The person on the phone clarified, "coconut sticky rice?" and I (foolishly!) said yes. What did I get? A big container of some kind of sticky gooey pudding that neither had the inclination to taste (discovered it was Mango Sticky Rice, $6). Eww--I should have returned it. (Side note: If I'm ordering rice to go with CURRY, why would I order this? It's a DESSERT??? A person from Burma--or someone at least familiar with Burmese food--would know this.) Ordered a sushi snack of tobiko nigiri ($5)--standard fare on any sushi menu. It was very fresh and tasty, and our order included one orange and one black nigiri gem. The California Roll "deluxe" ($6) was also tasty. I looked forward to returning and exploring the sushi offerings. Fast forward a couple of weeks, my husband and I decided to stop by the restaurant again. It was nearly empty, as it was late on a Sunday afternoon. We did hope to sit at the sushi bar, but it was not very inviting (no sushi chef, no lights on), so we opted for a table. From the outset, we were both grossed out by the respiratory ailments of the staff. The manager/hostess (???) hung out by the cash register for a while, blowing her nose, sneezing, wiping her nose with her hand, sniffling. Well at least she wasn't cooking. Then she was doing the same thing while standing behind the sushi bar and socializing with the "sushi chef." (My husband had a direct, clear view.) I was reassured that this person wasn't touching food (don't think so, anyway), and that the sushi preparer was wearing gloves. But this calls into question sanitary practices overall. IOW, extremely unappetizing. Had to explain about black/orange tobiko I'd ordered on my prior visit to our server, and had hoped to have again. With the menu change, there's no simple "tobiko" listed--only "Salmon Roe" and "Wasabi Roe." I could not get clarification and did not feel like the server quite understood what I was asking. So I got the "wasabi roe" ($5) which I'd never come across before. It was light green, with a little wasabi heat, and was fresh and tasty. Our server did return and convey that this was "Fly [sic] Fish Roe" and that they have different colors sometimes... So, mystery solved-- kinda.... Other top gross-out was the soy sauce bottle on our table, coated with goo and smeared fingerprints. (Ever heard of SIDE WORK?) I held the bottle with my napkin. No. Other sushi was ok, nothing "to write home about." Regular old saucers (no kidding!) were placed in front of us for use as personal dishes. More for the "clueless" file... Rest of order included: Spider roll ($14)--fair at best. How about a nice hot, made-to-order tempura crab? BBQ Eel nigiri - tasty! Spicy Tuna Roll ($8, upgraded to "deluxe" that included tobiko on the outside). Little spice, mushy but edible, obviously "yesterday's tuna." Jasmine tea - $2 - not much flavor and tiny pot. Skip it. We received our check, which was added up incorrectly by a couple extra dollars, which our server corrected. As we prepared to exit, it seemed the staff had gotten into a raucous mood, as we heard lots of loud talking and laughing coming from the back of the restaurant. (I'm no sour puss, and fine with some of that; this was excessive.) With no staff whatsoever remaining in the dining room to bid us goodbye, we departed. Conclusion: This place is trying to do too much--should stick to cuisine they KNOW well and then make it exceptional. Hire chefs from these countries and invest in quality! And pay attention to cleanliness and hygiene. There's a possibility we may try this place again at some point--but it won't be any time soon. read more

New things I have tried and will definitely have again: -Samusa: the sauce is delicious and the app is fried perfectly -Calamari: Squid was surprisingly soft, almost melts in your mouth! A big 5 stars. Started off with the Tom yum soup with shrimp. Most Tom yum taste about the same to me but this one has alot of fresh vegetables in it which no other I've had has. I ordered Burmese dish called shwe Payon thi hin,pumpkin curry. This dish is served with rice and a cup of Burmese Pea soup. Loved it. Not like any pea soup I've ever had. The pumpkin curry was too die for. I also ordered a Thai dish called pad ga pow. Had it with beef. Another too die for meal. See my pictures for better description. The owner and staff retreat very helpful and will advise you on foods to get if you ask. The owner is proud of the food and shows it. When we decided to go out for sushi we were skeptical to try a new place. We are so glad that we did . We had two rolls of sushi , beef curry , noodle salad , pot stickers and the soup. Everything was delicious. It was obvious that everything was homemade and fresh . The beef in the curry was so tender you didn't need a knife , it fell apart with the pressure of the fork . It was a Tuesday so not very busy. We had the pleasure of having the owner wait on our table . He was very hospitable and made sure we were satisfied with our meal . We had a party of 9 and even though they were busy, they served us quickly and the food came out great. Really good authentic Burmese food. Sushi rolls were delicious. Love this place! Family owned. Consistently delicious food and great service. But, specifically, I would like to add how awesome they've been during the Covid crisis. We did not feel comfortable getting carry out from too many places, but Eastern Palace was the exception. They have a drive through window. Had our food ready to go within 20 min of calling every time. It was hot and delicious every time. Also, it was very clear they were taking every safety precaution possible. Ok, food. This is a wonderful restaurant! The food here is excellent and differs a bit from what is offered at other restaurants in Lancaster. It is worth sampling the Burmese dishes; my favorites are Thanmin Jyaw (Burmese fried rice) and Burmese Sautéed Noodles. Recently, however, I have been ordering the Chicken and Broccoli. This dish is pretty much perfect: generous amounts of perfectly prepared chicken on a bed of mixed vegetables (including broccoli, of course!) covered with a delectable light brown sauce that is better described as a broth. It is an amazing dish! The menu helpfully includes photos of the many options. Sometimes it can get a bit busy; the owner is a very pleasant fellow but gets a lot of exercise running around (sometimes literally) from table to table taking orders. Still, the service is very good and attentive despite the frenetic pace the owner operates at. The food comes out in a very reasonable time after your order is placed. read more
