This had potential but the rice was so hard almost crispy. The white rice with the curry was also like this. Maybe if the rice wasn't so hard I would have given this dish a 9/10. Pad Ga POW- 8/10. This restaurant just recently opened next to Pho Pasteur. We checked out the menu online & stopped in on a Sunday night. What intrigued us was that they have Burmese food in addition to Thai & sushi. We tried a fried gourd appetizer which was kind of like flash fried zucchini & came with a special dipping sauce. We liked it. We each ordered tea, iced Thai & Thai bubble milk tea. Neither of us cared for our teas that much. There were loose leave in the iced which kept getting into the straw & the bubble milk tea didn't have much flavor at all. We each had a Burmese entree dish, which we didn't realize came with pea soup. I had already ordered the coconut soup with tofu, which was flavorful & had veggies & crispy tofu in it. The pea soup was slightly thinner than regular pea soup, but was good with potatoes, eggplant, carrots etc. I had a fish cake curry & my brother had a Burmese chicken dish. We both enjoyed our entrees which also came with rice. It's a good place to check out if you want a combo of different Asian foods. read more

When here on a whim because a friend and I had just left a cancelled event. The food is good! I had a vegetable soup and then I chose the pumpkin curry . It was great the pumpkin chewed like a nice piece of perfectly prepared beef! When I'm back in the area I will return! Every time that we come to Eastern Palace we are greeted by the owner who is a gem. He is always so nice and makes sure that you have a great meal. Even when they are busy he will make sure you are taken care of. I like that you can choose your protein with many of the dishes. This helps to have control of the price, and you can have a different meat depending on your mood. They also have 3 different pepper sauces that they bring out when your food comes. There is one that looks like salsa which is mild, one looks like red pepper flakes (medium) and one that is mostly liquid with pepper slices (hot). They are all delicious and I recommend trying them all if you like to spice up the dishes. In the past we have ordered: Steamed Dumplings (good standard dumplings with tasty dipping sauce) *Tom Yum Soup with Shrimp (Very good spicy soup with great aromatic flavor) Chicken Satay (Gingery chicken on a stick with a great peanut sauce and pickled cucumber and onion on the side) *Papaya Salad (The flavors of the papaya and vinegar are amazing. Highly recommended) *Tea Leaf Salad (Surprisingly crunchy and delicious appetizer salad) Burmese Chicken Curry with Palatha (This is a great appetizer if you want to try the curry but don't want the whole entree. Very deep spice flavor. The palatha is a thin bread which is great. It doesn't come with the entree so I would recommend getting the appetizer or entree and substitute palatha for the rice.) *Drunken Noodle (Pad See Mao) (A classic dish with thick noodles, this may be my favorite of the noodle dishes) *Pad Thai (Their version of this classic Thai dish is well done. Peanuts come on top) Pad Ga Pow (An interesting dish - no noodles, just vegetables including eggplant. Very tasty and great with a side of white rice) Kat Kyay Kite (Lots of veggies in this noodle dish) Pad See U (Similar to Kat Kyay Kite, but not spicy and different vegetables) Burmese sautéed noodles (Choice of rice vermicelli or egg noodle. Friends recommended this place for their sushi, and it did NOT disappoint! In addition to fantastic sushi, they also have Thai and Burmese food. I had a craving for sushi, so that's what I went with. But it's nice to have such a variety of good options. I ordered a few sushi rolls, and really enjoyed them. I wouldn't get the Hawaiian Poke Roll again (it's a bit dry and unusual). The rest of our rolls were scrumptious! I'll definitely be back! They also have some nice drink options. The honeydew tea/milk with boba was nice. Bonus: they have a drive-through, so you can call your order in and then go pick it up. read more

Eastern Palace softly opened today (2/28/18) and occupies a former Wendy's location. Renovations were made inside updating and sprucing up the interior. There are only four booth tables available. The concept of the restaurant is interesting. Burmese, Thai and sushi. The Burmese/Thai theme makes sense to me but I don't quite understand the addition of sushi. The food was good however I was disappointed when I was told they did not have two separate items on the menu after I ordered them. The owner of this restaurant also co-owns the Vietnamese restaurant next door and I remember them having the same problem. For a couple months after opening banh mi sandwiches were not available although they were still on the menu. I hope Eastern Palace does not follow suit but it is concerning since the owner is the common denominator. I ended up having the beef curry, which was good, but I really fancied the other two items I tried to order. The beef curry seemed more like a pot roast than what my idea of curry is but I was glad to experience it. There were other items on the menu that piqued my curiosity so I will definitely return to try those options. Service was friendly but coordination needs to be ironed out. Opening days of restaurants usually shed light on various issues and I feel optimistic that Eastern Palace will become the well-oiled machine it should be. I just wonder how long it will be since the Vietnamese restaurant next door experienced the same issue at their opening. The difference though is that there were far less diners this day then were seen the opening day of their neighbor. They do not offer a lunch menu. Prices are set and entrees range from approximately $10-20. Of course, sushi can be purchased a la carte or come as combos which can cost as high as $50. I do look forward to going back to try other dishes, primarily the Burmese offerings. read more

So this was surprising very good never had Thai food before but I can now say they have a new regular . I had the Pad Ga Pow with the seafood combo which was sooooooo good the gravy was excellent not too spicy but just the right amount . My husband had the Pad Thai with Pork which he gave high praises (he's a picky eater) . I also tried sushi for the first time and the Eel Nigiri was good not horrible idk if I would eat more than 2 tho . But the service was awesome , very professional and helpful! read more

Found this place when looking for a lunch spot while visiting friends in the Lancaster area. The ratings were very good but what really caught my eye were the Burmese items on their menu. The location had plentiful parking and the restaurant itself was spacious, clean and inviting. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, which was much appreciated since we were catching up with friends that we hadn't seen for a while. We ordered a mix of items across Burmese, Japanese and Thai cuisine and all the items were tasty, fresh and reasonably priced. We started with the appetizer platter which was a tasting of their Burmese appetizers (I especially liked the samosa and buthi jyaw). For entrees, we enjoyed the mohinga (spelled Mont Hin Gar in the menu), own no kaukswe, Burmese beef curry with rice, Burmese chicken curry with palatha, 3 sushi rolls (Cali, spicy tuna and shrimp tempura) and Thai red curry. The mohinga, beef curry, chicken curry and the rolls were my personal favorites. Each item came in generous portions, which was wonderful since we were sharing items family style. For the unfamiliar, "Burmese food" has people scratching their head wondering "What's that ?" Eastern Palace will rightly answer your questions of what the essence of Burmese food is, as it offers an authentic pathway to the exotic (and extremely hard to find in the East coast) Southeast Asian culinary cuisine. While it offers Japanese sushi and Thai food (which are quite good in their own right), the true highlight of this "Palace" is the Burmese cuisine. This family owned "Palace" has me reminiscence about the various foods of my childhood and family. The day we went we had a party of 7 and the place was already busy; having said that, the service was responsive and they truly make you feel like family should you need anything. ****Don't go in a rush, or be in a "pissy quam" about how their phone rings frequently (they're busy cuz the food is good, so much so that they survived the COVID pandemic. Add to the fact that I have never seen a Sushi, Thai or Burmese restaurant offer a drive through for one type of cuisine , never mind all three offer and this had me flabbergasted, (yes they're that good). **** Burmese cuisine isn't a Wendy's fast food meal (although for the preparation and service things arrived quite timely from ordering). It's an experience meant to be enjoyed with friends and family, tasting, trying, sharing and creating fond memories, while remembering old ones, & recalling the blessings our of lives. Here's the food run down : Samosa: This Burmese Samosa (unlike the Indian type) has a crisp shell and pillowee potato filling with that hint of curry spice inside that 'll make u wonder if u're eating a spring roll or a curry puff and craving more. It has a sweet spicy dip it's offered with and makes you wonder, should i eat another or wait (as you realize you'd better loosen your belt buckle for the meal ahead of you). Ono Kaw Swee : This coconut curry chicken noodle soup dish is a taste bud pleaser, rich with flavor and tastey goodness as it hits the notes of delicious homey textures topped w lentil fritter hard boiled egg and onions. Gotta get me some, but my wife ate it all. Mohinga: This National dish of Burma is a fish noodle soup with rice vermicelli, banana stem, lemongrass fried lentil fritters, garlic & onions . I'd enjoy it more had my son not kept sticking his spoon into my bowl to eat it. Latt Thoke Sone: This Burmese noodle salad with cabbage, onions, bean sprouts, tofu, toasted bean powder, tamarind juice, cucumbers , is pre mixed for you so u don't have too (unlike when you make it yourself. Though ordinarily eaten by hand, this dish is an entry way to the dish without making it yourself, so it's interpretation is made for you, before you get to compose/ interpret it yourself ( Which is good for new comers as an entry, but for experienced Latt Thoke Sone culinaries leaves you craving for more and modifications). Glad to have this mix of flavors once again on my palate. Palatha with Chicken Curry: This Burmese chicken potato curry with flakey textured layered thin dough pancake for dipping reminds me of home and scooping to eat with your hands, and a starter for hand eating. If you eat this with a fork and spoon, you may as well be trying to sculpt pottery with a meat cleaver. Eat it with your hands, it's finger licking good. Kat Kyay Kite : This Burmese wide rice noodle dish served with bean sprouts, tofu, scallions, garlic, tossed in a hot and sour sauce is a dish with a "kick" . It's flavors are similar to those of a "Drunken Noodle" but don't let it fool you, it's not a thai dish (though it's Southern Burmese) . It has an option of being served spicy according to level (1-10 the hottest), and remember we're talking "Thai - melt my face off ,"Do I still have a tongue with any taste buds left?- Hot" potential, not "American Hot"; so be cautious of the spice level you ask for. My advice, start low, go up slow. You can always add more, so ask for the hot sauces / chili powders on the side to increase your variability and don't scare off the kids, but can modulate for your self. That way u get that exotic spice high while every one else can have some too at their own pace. Salmon Nigriri and Salmon roll: pretty standard and well done. My 9y/o daughter tried to polish off her pieces but was defeated and could not finish the entire combo. They were kind enough to offer an alternate to Ikura as well. ****You may Go for the sushi, be drawn by the Thai food, BUT ORDER the Burmese cuisine, and you won't be disappointed. *** read more

Restaurant is clean and quiet. The only reason it doesn't get 4 stars is that both times my fiancée ordered a noodle dish that states on the menu it has sautéed veggies. Both times we were asked if we wanted veggies or meat added. We were like... welno, there's veggies in there right? First time we were charged 2.00 for veggies. This time we said to the server, there's veggies in there, though, right? She said... not many. Only scallions. As you can see, there's plenty of veggies. We have been lucky enough to meet the servers and the owner who is nothing short of amazing and helpful to everyone when they dine there. The food is always incredible and I have had the opportunity to try not only the Thai food like their flagship dish Red curry but also the sushi and the Burmese food as well which is all incredible! We pulled up and I was fully prepared to unleash a million sarcastic comments to my wife for choosing a restaurant in an old Wendy's. I was lucky enough to keep my mouth shut until we got inside. The restaurant was spotless and the decor was fresh. The owner immediately greeted us, sat us, and brought us drinks. The menu has many options and they had several specials. My wife and I shared a tea leaf salad. It was amazing. Fresh, crunchy, and delicious. My daughter had a virgin pina colada. I didn't read what my meal came with and was surprised that they brought out curried pea soup for me. It was delicious. I could have eaten a gallon of it. Our meals were even better. The staff was perfect. They brought out special candy for our daughter to take home. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. The only negative was they are 40 miles from our house our biggest challenge is finding excuses to go to Lancaster 2nd Visit We were back in the area again and decided to give it another try. We went here on a whim. So glad we did. The food was quite good. It was a tough decision but the owner helped us decide what to order. We ended up with Drunken Noodles with chicken and Pumpkin Curry with chicken. Both were delicious. We had the Mango Sticky rice and the Coconut Custard for dessert. The Mango Sticky rice was some of the best I've had. We didn't really care for the Coconut Custard though. We will definitely go back. Next time we'll try the sushi. read more
