We tried to go at 9 and 10 on weekends but they were closed. This weekend we got there at 11 on Sunday and they seemed to be just opening. I've been stoked to try this place because I love Burmese food, but it didn't hit for us. Our donuts were soggy. They tasted underdone. The green curry was watery, but spicy. It was a big portion, but almost no chicken. I was most excited for the tea leaf salad, but I think there must have been something that got lost in translation because what we got was most definitely not a tea leaf salad. I was so sad when I opened the take out in the car. It was also slow. We ordered, grocery shopped, and when we came back it still wasn't ready yet.

If there was a 3.5 star option, I feel like that would be the most accurate representation here. The place itself is located on the wall of the Lotte in Catonsville and it looks like a small family-run establishment. Service was kind, but admittedly a bit of a language barrier which may have affected some of the ordering process. In total, we ordered the tea leaf salad, a curry dish, seafood noodles, and the asian doughnuts. While I was hoping for fresh, vibrant dishes, my expectations fell a bit short where some of the proteins felt a bit tough and other ingredients felt a bit soggy. The flavor profile was good (one of those places where spicy means spicy), but it did lean a bit on the seafoody/fishy side. I still think it warrants checking out because it's not often that there's Burmese cuisine available.

We had major indecision because there's SO many things on the menu we wanted to try but ended up getting: Naem khao: 4/5 probably better with the sour pork, but loved how fresh this was. It was a large portion too, so we got kind of full from finishing it before our mains even arrived. Shrimp pad see ew: 5/5 the best pad see ew I've had in the DMV. So much wok fire flavor. You can really taste the caramelization. And the large shrimp were velveted which was made it extra satisfying to eat. Also a good shareable portion size! Muu Som: 4/5 this was super rich and heavy. Would get this again only to share with a larger group. Loved that it came with sticky rice. Mango sticky rice: 4/5 delicious but in my opinion didn't need the ice cream on top (my boyfriend thinks otherwise though). Very large portion as well. The cocktails were a little pricy ($15) for what they were but I did love the tamarind margarita. Just wish it was a larger drink or a smaller price tag. Service was very attentive!

I actually intended to try out the Trini Vybez restaurant next door, but discovered they're closed but their signage is still up. Anyways, I got a seat at the bar for myself and service was great. I was a bit indecisive as the menu is pretty extensive, and I've never eaten Laotian food before. Luckily, it was happy hour, so I was able to sample a couple of their appetizers and their daiquiri which was quite strong. I had the Tam Sum, papaya salad and that was very good with a hint of spice and lime. Then, I also had Chuenh Peek Gai, which was tamarind glazed wings. Omg they were savory and crispy! I loved these. For the entree, the bartender recommended some great options, but I finally settled on Kee Mao, which is flattened rice noodles with stir fry beef and vegetables. It was also a very savory dish, with a sweetness to it. Laotian food is very similar to Thai food and I love Thai food. I will not sleep on this restaurant and will be back soon!!

The interior is cozy, when it's busy, you sit kinda close to other patrons, sometimes back to back. The decoration is very cute and true to the theme of the food they are presenting, I love the ambiance. We tried two dishes, one is a Laotian version of the Tom Yum soup, which has a strong kick to it: spicier than the typical Thai Tom Yum Soup if you like spicy food. We ordered it mild but it is still very spicy to us. We also sampled a Malaysian dish which is a fried fish sitting in this curry sauce base. Very tasty! I like the carefully curated menu of this restaurant, they pick 1-2 dishes from each SEA country to represent their cuisine and you can get a taste of everything from everywhere if you are with a bigger group of friends! I would recommend family style! Food: 8.5/10 Ambience: 8.5/10

All the appetizers were delicious but the wings were a bit messy to eat. That is probably one that I would pass. There are couple other appetizers that we wanted to try if we go back. For Entree, we got the Kimin Paa and Thom Khem Ribs. The Branzino was large and fried perfectly. The accompanying sauce was delicious. The ribs is tender and falls off the bones. Reminds me of Chinese stew ribs. We cap it off with the night with coconut sticky rice with white rabbit gelato. That brings back memories of the white rabbit candy with that sticky rice paper cover that I use to stick it to my lip. Great food with excellent service. Restaurant is small but I think there is maybe a roof top? Will try to go back.

Upon entry I was quickly seated and cold water was brought to the table. During my last time here I discovered the cooks are Burmese so I promised myself that I would order a Burmese dish the next time I came. Today was the day to do exactly that. I placed my order and waited for my food to arrive. Eventually my order arrived. Nan Ji Thoke: a savory noodle dish with chicken and hard boiled egg garnished with onion and crunchy split chickpeas. The dish is accompanied by a side of clear vegetable broth. Shortly after my food arrived I noticed the waitress speaking with someone who came out of the kitchen. I was then introduced to this man who happened to be the owner. We struck up pleasant conversation about Burmese food, my limited experience with it and desire to further explore this cuisine. Our chat led deeper into discussion about restaurants in Philadelphia and what cuisines should come to Lancaster. Aside from the conversation, the dish was fantastic. I had Nan Ji Thoke before but this expression was better than I ever had. I made sure I verbally expressed this as well. I savored the flavor on my palette for approximately the next two hours. I definitely plan on returning and hope you visit if you never have before.

We got the crunchy rice with sour pork (naem khao thadaeu), pork shoulder (ping), fried catfish (patod), chicken pad thai (kua mee), and warm coconut milky dessert (bua loy). All the dishes were delicious but a bit more salty than Thai. Feels like a lot of fish sauces in all the dishes. The crunchy rice came with lettuce but ours were not the best lettuce. The fried catfish were nicely fried with a perfect coating. Definitely a dish to get. The pork shoulder is another dish to get. Nicely seasoned with sticky rice. Their version of pad thai is uniquely different than Thai. A bit more sweet but the lime makes it better. Wife wanted to try bua loy dessert. It is a warm sweet dessert that balanced out all the salty flavors of the dishes. Something to try as well. Flavor are still the same. The dishes we order were too much for 2 of us. My only complaint was the restaurant smelled like smoke when we walked in. Not the kind where there was a fire in the kitchen but more like someone smoking in the kitchen?
