Yogurt drink tastes like Pina Colada, chrysanthemum tea
    Curtis Y.

Owners dishing up some authentic burmese / thai food that looks, and to me tastes unamericanized. Initially, I had no idea that the creamy yellow in my dish today was made with chickpea flour, serving as the broth. #35 Warm Tofu Noodle soup. Oils, chili, shallots, peanuts, and chicken, paired well with the rice noodles buried under the dish. Top presentation of the plating was beautiful. As you can see with the name of the dish, the best time is to eat it served up fresh and hot. Waiting will change the flavor. They recommended to try the pad thai next. Worth a second visit!

Hidden gem inside the Lotte supermarket, one of the most unique and delicious cuisines I have ever had. This restaurant specializes in Thai and Myanmar (Burmese) food, which is something you do not see much of at all. Perfect for a snack while you are shopping, there are seats and tables where you can enjoy the food. The service was super friendly as well! I ordered the Burmese donuts which were super unique. Similar to a mochi donut, but much lighter and served with this plum sauce that made them addicting. When eaten fresh and hot, they are the perfect breakfast/ snack! While waiting, the owner served me some green tea which paired perfectly as well. I recommend everyone going here to experience the food and culture of a country not many know too much about!

truly a hidden gem. I've never tried Burmese food before so I was very curious to try this spot. I came in the morning, so the owner wasn't there yet to make the soups but we were still able to order the #9 mohinga. It was sooo good-- the soup was thick and savory. So comforting. There's also a fried crispy topping included that is a very good addition to the soup. If you've had Vietnamese food, the flavor profile is very similar in this dish. It was cold sitting at the tables but I quickly warmed up eating the soup. They also brought out complimentary tea while we were waiting for the food. I also got the #36 tea leaf salad. It was earthy and savory, but too salty for me. I will be coming back here-- they are very kinda and the food is delicious and affordable!

It's been a dozen years or so since I was in Myanmar. And, besides for tea leaf salad, I don't remember the food particularly well, at least when compared to some of its better known neighboring cuisines like Vietnamese and Lao. Since that trip, I've had Burmese food in Silver Spring and in Buffalo, NY, which had several Burmese restaurants at the time. So my familiarity with the cuisine isn't all that strong, but its definitely not non-existent. And, I was delighted when I spotted the (weird) sign at Lotte Market on Xmas Day. (Why the stars of David? Why?!) When we did get to try the food a week or so ago, we went with the tea leaf salad, naturally, and a chicken noodle soup. (Is chicken soup the reasons for the Jewish star? Read on.) The tea leaf salad was sort of the way I remembered. It's such a unique taste, and I can't really compare it to anything else I've had anywhere, and I've eaten a lot in a lot of places. Besides the tea leaves with their unusual taste, there was green leaf lettuce, Roma cherry tomatoes, and fried shallots or garlic. I'd order this again. The chicken soup was ok, at first, but it was one of those dishes that just got better the more you ate it. It was very homemade and homey. It had glass noodles. The chicken wasn't "real" chicken, but seemed to be some sort of pre-made chicken meatballs cut up. While it was warm and comforting, I'd try to order something new the next time. The people who own the place are a delight and so kind. While waiting for food, we were brought an interesting green tea. (I have no idea if the same that was used in the salad.) They brought food to our table, and made sure all was fine. Really they couldn't do enough. I always want to thank people like this who take the time to share their food in a new place. As others have said, the seating area is very cold, even with the little heat lamps by each table. As someone of the star of David persuasion, I had to ask about the sign. The owner told me that she was Christian and that the star was "good luck." I hope that works for them.

Myanmar Thai is a food stall INSIDE Lotte Plaza Market, a grocery store. I wish that had been clearer before my visit, because it would have saved me a ton of time and confusion. After a hair appointment nearby, I was excited to have stumbled across Myanmar Thai on Yelp because Burmese cuisine is hard to find in the Baltimore area. Ordering for pickup on the Yelp app was easy, but finding the restaurant was not. The address led me to a strip mall, and none of the overhead signage matched this restaurant's name. I called the Apple Maps-listed number and it connected me to someone who wasn't affiliated with the restaurant and promptly hung up. I walked into another restaurant in the strip to ask an employee if she knew where it was located and she had never seen or heard of it. Frustrated, got back on Yelp and found a menu image from a previous Yelp review, which included the correct number. I called and a staff member explained they're inside Lotte Plaza Market on the left side of the store. Now for the food. The tea leaf salad was fresh and flavorful, with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, Thai chilies, fresh garlic, crunchy fried garlic, beans, dried shrimp, peanuts and lime. It was missing some of the pungent umami flavors I love in a tea left salad, but it was still tasty and had distinct ginger notes. I'd have this again. Chicken Curry: The portions were large and the chicken was tender but slightly dry. Out of roughly 10 pieces, I could only eat two because I could not tolerate the excessive oiliness. While I learned this dish is traditionally pretty oily, it just didn't work for me.

    35. Warm Tofu with Rice Noodle and Chicken

Authentic Burmese takeout spot inside Lotte. The food was unique and super flavorful. Had the #35 warm tofu with chicken and noodles that came with 2 sauces, dal, and soup all for $10.99, #35 tea leaf salad which had so many yummy textures from the crunchy nuts and crispy beans and garlic (comes with spicy fresh chillies and garlic), and cooked to order warm Burmese donuts. The lady at the service counter was super sweet in explaining the best way to eat and compose everything when you get home and the takeout packing was 10/10 with everything separated so that the food made it home perfectly.

One of the highlights is the handmade noodles, which you can customize in thickness, from delicate angel hair to something as hearty as fettuccine. The menu has plenty of variety beyond soups, including dumplings, spring rolls, stir-fried noodles, and oil-tossed noodle dishes. I also tried the braised intestines on the side; while they were well-prepared, the texture wasn't quite for me--I'd probably enjoy them more if they were fried. Ordering is convenient, whether you prefer doing it in person, through the app, or at the kiosk. The space has a good number of tables for dining in, and there's even a piano if you know how to play. Overall, it's been a consistently enjoyable spot for lunch.

Most of the vendors didnt appear friendly when I walked around but Inignore that. I selected the stall second from the door on the left. The woman and man working there were noticeably unfriendly from the start. The interaction felt cold and unwelcoming, and the looks and tone throughout the transaction were negative enough that it made me uncomfortable. I was also charged extra for rice to go with my general tso chicken and then charged $1 for a take-out box, even though I originally said I was eating there as I did but had significant left overs . It felt unnecessary and petty. The situation got worse when I bought a 12-oz Diet Coke from another vendor next to the pastry shop on the right when you walk in. I handed the cashier a $20 bill. The register clearly showed $18.41, yet he gave me $13.41 in change and walked away. When I called him back and showed him the numbers, he initially hesitated and spoke in another language rather than addressing the issue. Only after I showed him the cash that I left on the counter did he reopen the register and give me the $5 he had not returned. Mistakes can happen, but the combination of the horrible attitudes, the way I was treated, and the hesitation to correct the change left me questioning whether I was being treated differently. As a Black customer, that concern is real and cannot be ignored. First impressions matter, especially when someone new to the area is trying to support local businesses. Unfortunately, this experience made me feel unwelcome. I won't be returning and will spend my money elsewhere.

Since the location I typically grab my broth from crushed my heart when they told me they no longer sold broth when I tried to pick some up on my way home Friday, I had to find an alternative. Not being able to leave the house today, I was fortunate my mother wanted to bring me something to help me feel better. I instantly remembered Man Vs Pho and ran to Yelp first to look at recommendations as well as pictures. I then went to their website to check out the menu and was pleased to find they offered the broth by itself in a 32 oz container of either beef, chicken or vegetable and I quickly added it to my list. I was expecting my mother to call me when she got there but the next thing I knew, she was telling me to open the door. I love she didn't have a problem with ordering and she informed me that it was nice inside and she jokingly rubbed the Buddhas belly and head for good luck. She did say they didn't have any takeout menus at the counter to take with her since she was curious about the food and wanted to try some also. They also didn't put one in the bag either. The broth definitely did is job. I almost passed out after drinking about 75% of it. Steaming hot and burnt my tongue just as wonderful as I could have asked for. It was a little bit on the salty side so I did have to hydrate myself throughout and also why I couldn't finish all of it. The death of the flavor wasn't as intense as others I've tried but I would have to try their beef broth to actually compare it to others. They really came through in the clutch and I'm so glad for that. There's definitely on my list to try again so that I can see if I have a new Pho spot.

There is plenty of parking available in the area outside the store. The ambiance was cool, with folks coming in and out and there is also seating to enjoy your food onsite. If you've been ordering Chinese food as long as I have, you know the best time to purchase is during their "lunchtime" special for a great price on a smaller portion of your favorite item. It's usually accompanied by a basic fried rice, white rice, or noodles. I ordered the shrimp egg foo yung lunch special with fried rice; pork yak; and shrimp egg rolls. I like China Chef because they have an open kitchen just behind the counter and can see them preparing orders. We placed our order with a pleasant lady at the counter, paid in advance, and did some shopping at the local grocery store and came back to pick it up. We came back to pick up our order and it was waiting for us. We opened the bag to check that it was correct, grabbed assorted condiments (soy ,duck, and hot sauce packets) and cutlery and were on our way. The pork yat was good, not overly oily and drenched in soy sauce. There were fried yellow onions and a boiled egg included. The shrimp egg foo yung lunch special consisted of two patties made with egg, shrimp, and onions with fried rice and a small container of gravy. It was just ok, lacking a fair amount of shrimp. The gravy was light-skinned, lol, but ok as well. The egg rolls were a nice, hefty size deep fried and not greasy at all. It was a decent egg roll with shrimp scattered about, but not as good as I wanted it to be. All in all, a nice place to grab some traditional Chinese takeout.
