I attempted to patron this establishment today. I was skeptical because yelp reviews are subpar. I was getting work done to my truck nearby and decided to walk over. Upon entry I was greeted with, "you can't bring outside drinks in". I explained I was getting the work done and had nowhere to put the drink, I just bought before the walk over. They suggested I put it somewhere in the front of the restaurant to which I would never do. I'm not leaving something I'm consuming out in the open. I asked if I could place it in my bag and the manager pointed to the sign "no outside drinks". So I left and will NEVER return. I live in the area and understand the policy however, management should use discretion when dealing with their customers. I feel like an exception could have been made in this case. On my plane ride back, I started craving gravy and rice and I swear someone had it on the plane. I did not feel like cooking and I instantly remembered Double T Diner because my aunt ordered it the last time we were there. Now I've probably only been to Double T Diner six times my entire life here in Maryland. Diners just really aren't my thing but I knew they had it and I needed a southern meal to help me back home. The parking lot was empty and I was happy about that. I knew we'd be able to get a table quickly to eat and get out. The waitress came over to introduce themselves and drop off water. It was a definite straight up diner and I really didn't have high expectations but at least hoped my cutlery would be clean. My spoon was dirty and had a piece of napkin still attached to it. I asked for another and the cup of hot water, like my aunt and my mom does, to soak them in. Our meals came with a cup of soup so we ordered the chicken gumbo and the vegetable. I tried a spoon of the gumbo but I already knew by the color of the stock, it wasn't about to be hitting and I was right. My vegetable soup was pretty good though and I love that it didn't have any pasta or rice since I had already ordered a carb and a slice of bread. Our food came out shortly after which was their deluxe cheeseburger that came with fries and they were SEASONED. They were quite tasty and I like the size of them as well; almost like steak fries. My dish, liver with sauteed onions gravy and rice along with steamed mixed vegetables came out not looking how I thought and I can tell the great people isn't homemade. I know, but I think they would make some homemade gravy, I guess because it's a diner and it doesn't take much to make it but okay. I did like the liver didn't have that strong liver taste and I was informed it was calf liver. I had two nice sized pieces but was surprised it was $24! That seems a little expensive for a peasant dish but okay. I got the job done and satisfied my craving but also was the Catalyst for me making my own gumbo as well as liver with onions gravy and rice. If you never been a Double T diner, no that they are specialty is dessert! They have so many choices in their cases that you almost have to try something before leaving. I was able to resist that urge although there were a lot of items that looked really good. They also have a tall case that has whole pies and cakes and OMG. I will have to say it's a place that I definitely will go back to because it's a diner and some reason I always find a way to go back but it's not my go-to place at all. read more

The Double T diner is always a good choice. The menu has a lot of options and they even have desserts and a full bar. There is a room in the back that looks like a good option to accommodate larger parties. I stopped in on a Saturday morning to grab breakfast. I was seated right away. And the coffee was served shortly after being ordered upon sitting down. The waitress was very attentive. She took our orders when we were ready. She said the food would be out shortly and that was not a lie. About 5 min later the food came out. Not sure how they were able to prepare the food that quickly but it was hot and fresh. They give you a lot of food here so I think that's a plus. My pancakes were nice and fluffy. The bacon was perfectly crisp. Please note this is an older establishment. So if you are looking for something pretty or fancy this is not the place to go. It is a no frills classic old school diner. They even have a jukebox at all the tables. The diner is really nice and seems like a comfortable place to become a regular. They have the best cookies! The woman who worked at the bakery was so kind and helpful but i ordered the box of sprinkle cookies ( because they're the best) and it was the last box. The family at the register were really standoffish and were whispering about the cookies and looking upset at me as if no one was supposed to buy them. Even when paying and checking out I was fully ignored, took my receipt myself and left. Good food is good but a good experience is better. Coffee and water were brought out quickly. Waitress took out order and it didn't take long until the food was out. I had a Belgian waffles and a side of bacon. They give you an ample portion of food. 5 large pieces of bacon and a huge waffle. More than enough to fill you up. I even had bacon part over to take home. We were having the vegetarian vegetable soup and in a large spoonful I look down and see a cooked spine of a mouse! Yes, it was. That was it! One's expectations needs to be tailored to the cuisine and the probable pay scale of the staff. This not fine cuisine and not a 5-star restaurant. To expect better than well-honed mediocrity probably is unreasonable. On a recent weekday leisurely breakfast (9 AM; after the off-to-work crowd leaves), our party of three experienced the following: What was good - Cleanliness of the public facing parts of the facility (floors, tables, booths, silverware, glassware), generosity of portions, warmth of the food, promptness of service, accomodation of a special request (well-done toasted english muffin). What could have been better - Remembering to bring the whole wheat toast included with an order, prices that seem a little higher than typical in establishments like this, a table that simply remained uncleared a full 30 minutes after everyone was finished eating, restroom cleanliness. Breakfast is not good here the eggs came scrambled, barely with two slices of cheese melted on top. The pork sausage was horrible. The bacon had no flavor. The pancakes were cold. The grits were really really stiff. Had no flavor and no matter what we did to him and potatoes were cold as well. I have my breakfast and spit up the rest before I even left the restaurant. We came here for breakfast to celebrate a birthday but, I have been to this restaurant all different times of day for breakfast, lunch and late night food as well. The service is always on point. The servers really work hard to accommodate large parties. Our server Moe has being a server down pack. He remembered our entire large party order without writing a thing down and getting everyone's order correct. They have an extensive menu with lots to choose from to make the entire large party happy. The floors needed some attention as they were napkins and very noticeable amounts of food particles on the floor. What I love most about this restaurant is they allowed by daughters Girl Scouts to set up in the lobby to sell cookies. I love a restaurant that supports the community. My companion and I got a breakfast combo with Turkey sausage and the appetizer sampler (came with wings, tenders, mozzarella sticks, and fries. Food was what you would expect from a diner, extremely average but service was timely as I was in a bit of a rush. The meal was fairly expensive for the quality of the food, but not surprising in todays economy. NOTHING beats a GOOD diner. IYKYK! #MDgurlNYrkr I lived in Baltimore County for almost 20 years so this Double T Diner location will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart. That's why, since all of my children were in town this weekend (Saturday, 10/5/24), it made perfect sense to stop through just for old-times sake. The fond memories I have here with my children are indescribable ... I feel hot tears just typing this darn review. Thankfully, not much has changed. The RIDICULOUSLY HUGE menu with entrees and offerings nobody in a single lifetime will ever be able to eat their way through, is still here. My fav creamy garlic seafood pasta dish is gone but the show stopping display case in the lobby with the HUGE desserts was still there. The old school waitresses that always call you Hon and always seem to know when your coffee cup is empty are gone, but the coffee is still the bomb. This might be the only restaurant where I don't mind the carpet on the floor because I (selfishly) don't want anything else to change here. Ate dinner here one night, alone, after work. Went to pay at the counter, and the woman behind the counter refused to swipe my card for payment because it wasn't signed. She said it was because she couldn't verify that I was the owner of the card. She asked for my ID, and I explained that my ID was in my bag in the car. I showed her my work badge with my name and photo. She denied that it was a valid form of ID, and said that was unacceptable. She said I wasn't allowed to leave until the bill was paid. Can't swipe my card without state issued ID, can't leave to get my ID. We went in circles for a few minutes. She was quite rude. Eventually she swiped my card. Her intentions could have been in the right place (I doubt it), but I didn't see her ask anyone else for ID. I felt singled out. Food is also hit or miss. I used to love Double T. Double T Diner has been a staple in the Catonsville area for decades. I would love to give 4 stars, but it is a hit or miss here. You can have a great server, but the food is meh. Or the food is great, but the server is not the nicest. 5 stars if you've gotten great service AND great food, which is often not the case. Some servers are amazing - great attitude, friendly, quick to get your order and refills. Some servers could care less about being there. When the cook is on their A-game that day, the food is delicious and hits the spot. Both the interior and building has that 50s nostalgic aesthetic. The booths have held up pretty well along the years. Decent amount of parking on their lot, but could be tight during the busy rush hours. Unfortunately, with inflation and the recession coming, the prices are increasing. The menu is very extensive. Lots of options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My go to is the breakfast menu, with pancakes or french toast being the top of the list. With all that said, I recommend stopping by Double T, but perhaps, lower your expectations just a tad. read more

Went on a quiet Saturday evening for dinner. The diner matches several other double T diners in the area as far as decor and ambiance. The menu does not. They do not have French onion or matzoh ball soups like the others I've been to. They do have a huge breakfast menu and pastry counter. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was cooked in line with our orders. The prices seem to be a tad higher here. What really tweaked my nose was a 18% "service charge" on the bill. We have frequented this Double T for almost 25 years. For some reason, this time was awful. Our order (chicken sandwich and a burger) took 3 times longer than usual. The medium well hamburger was burnt black on the outside. My husband requested some raw onion for the burger (which is normally no charge) and found a $2.75 charge for it-- the same charge for substituting ONION RINGS. When he questioned the cashier he was told, "It's on the menu". Not only was it NOT on the menu (I checked) but the server NEVER informed him there would be an upcharge to add onion. He would never have ordered it at that price. Finally, the server added an 18% mandatory tip. It was only the two of us, not a large party. Not sure we will be back :( read more

You NEED to deep clean your bathrooms! They ate disgusting. Get dome bleach, clean the mold and dust growing all over the tiles. Wipe down the metal stall walls and stall doors.
