Smart location to be right by the Royal Botanical Gardens for those who don't want to eat in the cafe at the RBG. It was kind of cool to see that diner look from the outside and from the inside. There's some seating inside but space is limited. Quite a few picnic-like bench tables outside. But the food isn't really worth the money. Small burgers and small hot dogs which are not even charbroiled. You literally can make better at home. I know that the location has been there for quite some time and it gives off that nostalgic feel. But I was kind of disappointed. To each their own but it wasn't for me. read more

Fabled family favourite for decades with all the hot dog flavour variety you could ever hope for. Poutine was rated "pretty good" by my discerning teen--high praise indeed. The cashier was patient and helpful with our big order, recommending things according to our little and big people's preferences. It was a beautiful day to eat at the picnic tables outside. Thanks to good monitoring by staff, the wasps stayed away from the trash, and they took care of a surprise visit by a raccoon! read more

As far as hot dogs go, this is a good place to check out. The hot dogs were good in flavour and the price was definitely right. I think our whole family ate for $40. They have a lot of options. I got the cheddar dog but the cheese wasn't melted so I found my sister's hound dog was better as I liked the melted cheddar better. My brother-in-law is also allergic to soy protein and he had no issue eating here. The hot dogs are quite filling as well being foot longs. They also have ice cream options and will do floats with any soda/ice cream combination they have available. Seating is picnic benches spread out over the property and dispersed with some being on a bit of a hill. Dogs are welcome. Just like the hot dogs the serve, this place isn't fancy, but it is good. read more

Great place of history here in Burlington. Open since the 1930s. They keep it simple and do it well. Footlong hotdogs, burgers, sides and ice cream. We had two regular hotdogs which were tasty with nicely toasted buns. The fries were amazing. Great atmosphere from another time! read more

What can I say 100% great from service food location the ice cream shop inside and outside seating area

Scenic outdoor seating, although my mom got pooped on by a seagull we still fully enjoyed our meal. excellent staff, excellent food! 10/10 hotdogs read more

I was recently back in Ontario for holidays and as always went to Easterbrooks for a dog. The young fellow running the place was the grandson of Irene the woman who looked after me by allowing me to do some work on the restaurant as she sensed I needed help. This year I wanted to grab some T shirts and he didn't have all the right sizes I needed but brought them from home the next day as promised. This gentleman has all of the qualities that he must of inherited from his grandmother. Refreshing to see service of this level. For that reason go enjoy a hot dog. As a fifty year customer I appreciate the history. Thank you. read more

There milkshakes are outstanding and made from scratch - Their ultimate choices of hot dogs pleases any connoisseur

My bf and i decided to go to here today after we were done our errands. He has been here many times as a child and it was my first time. There were only about 3 tables to sit at. The hours are Sunday to Saturday 10:00 a.m to 8 p.m I ordered the foot long Taco dog which was a hot dog then topped up with their homemade bean chilli, shredded cheese and pieces of lettuce the length of the bun. If was a very filling meal and mighty tasty too. If I had it again i would add a dash of hot sauce because i like it to have some heat to it but i am still very happy with my choice. i can't wait to come back again, there's so much on the menu i would like to try including their french fries, sausage in a bun or even a hamburger. Not to mention their milkshake and or having some ice cream. read more

Love this place it's got that classic feeling and something you'd see on TV. Such a variety of food and it's all so tasty. I highly recommend this place and think everyone should try it out. The onion rings are quite possibly the best I have ever tried in my life so crispy and delicious omg. The hot dogs are all different and taste so good. read more

I grew up in Burlington, been going to Easterbrooks since I was a kid. Best hotdogs around, the old school diner style is awesome. You will bring your kids, and they will bring there kids.... It's that kind of place! read more

Easterbrook's is a roadside diner that has been selling hamburgers, french fries, ice cream and foot long hot dogs in Burlington, Ontario since 1930. They are really known for their assortment of different foot long hot dogs. I ordered a foot long super hoser hot dog ($5.50 plus tax) and switched it to a sausage (extra $1.25 plus tax) with a side of small fresh cut fries ($2.45 plus tax). The super hoser dog is essentially a grilled foot long sausage on a toasted bun topped with melted cheese, peameal bacon, fried onions and tomato. The foot long sausage was pretty good, peameal bacon topping was a little underwhelming but overall a good foot long hot dog/sausage, the side of french fries were also pretty good. Easterbrook's has a pretty cool retro decor and it's a place you would find on a roadside on the way to cottage country and not in Burlington, Ontario. It doesn't look like anything has changed inside or outside over the years but it adds to the charm and nostalgia. Overall, it's a pretty cool place to grab a foot long hot dog or burger with fries and some ice cream that's reasonably priced. Seating is limited inside but there are picnic benches out front and in the back. They also have a private parking lot and street parking is also available. read more

One of a kind old fashioned 50s/60s hot dog joints in the gta. Extensive hot dog selection. I never knew about many of their selections. Felt like you were sitting in an old wooden trailer somewhere in a back lot movie set. Quality hot dogs for connoisseurs of vintage tube steaks. Worth a stop and many return visits. A real classic! read more

Delicious classic. Been going here all my life like my parents before me. Never lets me down.

Love this place. It had every hotdog you could imagine and then some. Seriously I could not imagine how anyone could have anything bad to say. The only thing that is remotely annoying is that they only have 3 booths and they are always full. I won't complain because I can understand why they are full all the time. This place is great. read more

I found this place during a business trip to Toronto. I was dissapointed to find that there were no "Diners, Drive-ins, and dives" in Canada. I did a search, and found this posting on Chowhound: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/619901 They mentioned Easterbrooks. Since I was driving down from Toronto to the Bell Homestead in Brandtford, this was on the way. I got a foot-long hot dog with onions and cheese. I also got fries. The dog was perfect and the fries were light and crispy. I was there at a weird time (3PM) and it was empty at that time. A very young (high school?) girl was running the counter. I asked her for directions back to the highway but she didn't know (maybe she was too young to drive?). I was running late so I took half the hot dog and fries to go and ate the rest in the car. The place has a lot of obvious history. They had a note up on the wall that "since 1930 we have served over 1,579 miles of hot dogs and over 512 tons of ice cream". There are business cards, articles, and pictures all over the walls, some dating way back. I would definitely go back if I am ever in the area again. read more

If you happen to be anywhere near here you must come here. It's a time back in time you will feel like your in the late 60's. This place has a great retro look . They just left it the way it was built and never did any upgrades. The hot dog itself is great, the place may be retro but the hot dog is totally worth it. read more

Easterbrook Hotdog Stand - Store Front - Burgers Near Me - Burlington, Ontario

Picnic area around the back, and a couple of tables on the patio out front. Perfect for fuelling up between walking around the various botanical garden parks and paths. There's rather limited parking, but you can park on the street nearby. Or if you have already paid for entrance to the botanical gardens, you can just park in the garden's lot across the street. Food is what you'd expect: hotdogs and more hotdogs, and fries. I really love hotdogs. But they've got to be nicely grilled and the bun should be lightly grilled too. Easterbrooks doesn't disappoint, they know what they're doing with their hotdogs. I like the regular foot long hotdogs, but the topping choices are pretty large for those following the more-is-more philosophy of life (cheddar, chilli, nacho, mexi, pizza, etc). They also have burgers. But really, you want to come for the hotdogs. read more

What a cute spot! Aside from the great hot dogs, just a cute little gem. Feels like a retro little place.

In my quest for the perfect Hot Dog brought me here {plus Yelp} this is a must stop for hot dog lovers, My wife had a Dog w/bacon,onions,fries I had a Dog w/ chili, onions and fries but what make this combination is its hot dog bun it's was like a small loaf of French bread absolutely fresh and moist we did not try the burgers but we will next time. I have to mention the Hot Dog stand it self what a treat a collector of cool things such as a 100 photos of entertainers that have stopped by a dinner a style from 80 years ago [ My Favorite ] there was a arcade game called Genco's Circus Rifle Gallery I used to use all of my dimes in a machine like this in the 60's I am still trying for high score.{*_*} read more

Very disappointed by this place. It was recommended to us by some friends who had eaten there some time ago. I expected to find a diner, in fact it is an old wooden shack that specializes in hot dogs. I expected something simple, but at least clean. I should warn you, this place is not for the faint of heart and some people might find it disturbingly dirty. Service is bad. No welcome, no hello. Cash only. Wow how convenient in 2015 ! How many places do you know that don't accept debit or credit cards ? What a joke ! I didn't have any cash on me, I had to walk all the way back to the botanical garden to find an ATM. Secondly, this place is absolutely disgusting, dirty, smelly, greasy and sticky. I mean filthy dirty. You can see food leftover from previous customers on the tables, and food leftover on the floor probably from days/weeks ago. I don't think anyone ever sweeps the floor in this dive. They might not even have a broom. The salt and pepper shakers, the ketchup and mustard bottle are disgusting and sticky, as are the tables. I haven't seen the kitchen, but quite often you'll find that what you see in the front of the house reflects what you don't see in the back of the house. Probably a sanitary hazard waiting to happen. Finally, onto the food itself. The hot dogs are ok, but honestly it is hard to mess up a hot dog. It's as simple a dish as you'll ever find. The fries and the rest are ok as well, albeit nothing to write home about. Overall this experience is best described as an ordeal. Filthy, rude and only ok for taste. I do not recommend this place, not even to my worst enemy. There are much better diners our there. Hell, Denny's is better than this hell hole. read more

Found this place by accident after it was recommended to me by colleague. It has a greasy spoon dinner feel. The hotdogs are good, but the $1 upgrade to a sausage is worth it. The milkshakes are excellent. There is not enough sitting inside, but its nice to be outside on the picnic tables when the weather is good. I usually stop by this place when I am in the area. It is right beside the royal botanical gardens. read more

This place is amazing. A total dive, that's been around probably longer than I've been alive. And it was a nice way to end the summer. May have to go back in a few weeks though! I uploaded pod of the "Belly Buster" dog, chili, cheese, fried onions, bacon, tomatoes, & mustard. & then fries & gravy, both sooo good. Thick lovely gravy & chip truck style fries. Delish! A must go! Tip: take a few mins & know what you want before stepping up to order. The staff is always crazy busy & short on patience. But hey I would be too. Dealing with tons of "hmmm, ummm.... Well.... Oh this one! No.... Wait...." Etc.. read more

Neat little hot dog and burger place with ice cream. Very retro looking. The hot dog (I got the Guided Missile) was pretty good. I wasn't big on the bun being toasted, but oh well. The chili cheese fries were pretty good also. They have a variety of hot dogs to choose from. I'd probably come back just to try a few of the others, even if I wasn't wowed by my first choice. read more

This is our favourite spot for ice cream as a family after a nice walk. The portions are generous and the staff super friendly! My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is that our boys love sherbet and they often only have one flavour to choose from. Two thumbs up otherwise! read more

The hotdogs at Easterbrooks are delicious but these are a rather hard thing to mess up, my issue with Easterbrooks is that the burgers they serve at their New Street location are rather bad and has resulted in family members telling me they will never eat there again. Came here after hiking in Hamilton. Not a bad place to get hot dogs in the summer. Décor is pretty cool!

Saw the sign across from the Royal Botanical Centre. Who can resist the lure of a foot long dog? Small diner with checkered floor and a single counter big enough for 7 or 8 folks. Ordered fries and a cheese burger. Must have been good as it was wolfed down in record speed. Fries were good. Coffee not good. Steady stream of people ordering take out plus some families at the counter. Come for the dog and fries for sure!! read more

This place is legit. With some cool games that are reminiscent of its small beginnings and the business cards decorating the walls, its aesthetic is perfect. The hot dogs are amazing. Just as long as they say, and they come in so many different varieties it's insane. I didn't have the ice cream but the guy next to me said it tasted amazing. I would highly recommend this hot dog "stand" if you're looking for a classic, vintage-esque dinner. read more

Incomparable! Kind of a generic wiener (foot long) of the type you used to get from the big meat guys, but without the weird gritty bits so common now. Nice. Bun soft but doesn't fall apart (again so unlike the "I Wonder" bread and buns seen in retail today). Selection of toppings wide and pretty much traditional and in high quality and quantity. No "processed cheese product" here. Fries fabulous! Just the right crispness in the outside, just the right texture inside. The flavour is fantastic - they must fry them old-school and not in today's "no-trans, no sats, no flavour" oil-like substance. No need for vinegar, ketchup or mayo. Perfect salt level and not greasy. Try them and see if I'm lying! One thing - I seem to remember a Blue Cheese dog from maybe 10 years ago. Nobody there could remember, but then, all the staff there would have been elementary school then. Anybody recall the Blue Cheese? Go - eat - enjoy. Repeat as needed. read more

Love me a good foot long! This is my absolute place to get a hot dog! Admittedly the hot dogs are pretty simple but all of the crazy topping combos makes up for it. The poutine is really good too and the milkshakes are amazing!! Definitely worth the drive!! read more
