I'm torn writing this review as I used to love IKEA food but this time just wasn't it and I wanted to share my experience. The folks staffing the cafe were friendly and it seemed fairly clean but (and I'll spare you the details) we are preeeeeeetty sure we got mild food poisoning specifically from this meal. My husband's plate of meatballs was just lukewarm not hot (red flag) and the salmon I received was drier than a hounds fart as my dad would say lmao The highlight was the Daim cake and raspberry sparkling sofa, both of which were delicious. Two stars for the staff and the desserts. Pro tip: if you want to take a little gamble and dine here, make sure to order via the self serve kiosk option and save yourself a ton of time. read more

It has become customary for us to stopover for lunch when shop here. Me thinks family want to come here more lunch than shop. It is busy during lunch but they have lots of tables and staff refresh them quickly. Had Vegan Plant Balls, with fries and green peas - the plant balls are so good and go perfectly with any mixed veggies or peas. The family also had plant balls with mashed potatoes and gravy. They also indulged in Broccoli Rounds and they are delicious and sadly they not vegan. The side soup was plant based and vegan was OK. The other side was Mac n Cheese was perfect. I expected to get stuck in a huge lineup to get inside, but fortunately, it wasn't as busy on Saturday afternoon. However, there was a huge lineup in the cafeteria. The showrooms have attractive settings. But, the main problem during COVID-19 pandemic (even now that we're 1.5 years into it) is that most of the items are out of stock; especially office furniture. Or, to my surprise, shoe cabinets. The lady in the office furniture section was really helpful. I chose an ergonomic office chair, but the arms were discontinued until January and I was struggling to buy it or not; and she disassembled the arm chairs from the floor model and gave it to me as-is. That saved me by far. I loved self checkout, we didn't have to wait to pay long. Ample parking spots are also available in the parking lot. read more

Who doesn't love Ikea? I wish there were a closer option to Buffalo, NY. But there isn't. At least we get another chance to visit our friends to the north. This location is a straight shot from Buffalo. It is right off the QEW, and right around the corner from a Swiss Chalet. The location is always packed, every time I go. Granted, I go on a weekend. We arrived around 11am, and by 2pm, were tapped out and ready to go. People were still flowing through the entrance doors though, like it was an event to go to Ikea on a Sunday, like going to church. The parking lot was jam packed. The store is clean and who doesn't love the endless options and flare they have for decorating the entire store like a home. I have yet to try a Swedish meatball. I'll make that a goal for next time. You could spend the entire day here, eating every meal and then going home with hundreds of dollars less in your pocket. read more

It all started with no hand sanitizer to be seen and the vibe was straight up high school cafeteria that reminded me of my prior eating disorder. There was only a few options but we were delighted to see that they offered vegan options for our hipster friends. I waited ten minutes and while we watched two employees work feverishly to control the growing line of families; I commend them for their service. They offered us either 8 or 12 meatballs and I watched in awe as their slung the balls onto our plates like it was a game of a dodgeball, it really brought the high school experience full circle. My friend was pining for the tomato feta soup and when she opened the vat she was greeted with the bottom of the barrel. Disappointed to say the least. We asked for drinks and the cashier couldn't hear us, because of the ferocity of the echoing cafeteria walls. When we did get them we ecstatic to find the finest beverage selection, with free refills. YUM. The food did the job, most of it was cold but still edible. At this very moment my friend just took a bite of her carrot cake and said "yum" in an endearing tone. I think this will do. read more

It's a huge place with lots of unique home items for sale. My favorite being the kitchen designs, frames, and artwork for sale. You do a huge amount of walking in here so I suggest you take a break at the restaurant or wind down for a hotdog and ice cream (very creamy) after your journey. read more

This IKEA feels much smaller than other IKEAs for some reason. All setups of IKEAs are the same but this one felt a little more claustrophobic than others because the staged showrooms are on the 2nd floor and the pick up furniture is on the 1st floor (whereas usually everything is on one floor). They have less items too... I couldn't find the candles I usually get here, and they don't carry the full selection of furniture either. The restaurant area didn't look bad (they had a curry option on their menu too!) but we didn't get anything. Maybe this branch isn't where we'll get our stuff. :/ read more

There are pluses and minuses to this store. First of all, it's a smaller Ikea so it's not as roomy-feeling as the newer stores. I used to love going to this location because the food seemed better than the others. However, during today's visit the meatballs weren't very warm, the mashed potatoes tasted like they came from a box and the gravy was thick and gluggy. On the plus side, the mushroom bisque was absolutely delicious and was chock full of mushrooms. The servers (behind the counter, dishing out the food) are very friendly and so are the cashiers. And the prices are really good for what you get. The food store downstairs carries all sorts of goodies, from frozen meatballs, to chocolate bars, to pickled fish. And there are hotdogs and cinnamon buns for sale if you need a quick bite. The MAJOR plus for us is that there are 2 EV outlets in the parking lot (4 spaces though) and that means we can plug in our electric car. All in all, it's a fairly good Ikea, just not as big and modern as the newer ones. read more

My college roommate is from NYC and one time when I went home with her on a break, we went to IKEA. I have literally been obsessed ever since! IKEA is magical wonderland and one that I wish we had in Buffalo. This is the closest location to home for me and this was my first ever trip here and it was amazing. I brought my husband and our friend, who happened to be an ikea virgin (I know, right?! ). We came in search of a gift for our nephew, a table from the kid's section that is perfect for hours of LEGO time. The problem/blessing about shopping at ikea Is that you might come for one thing but you'll leave with 10x that and it's okay! The run down: You walk in and you get down your pencil and paper (for writing down your furniture) and your cart and your bags. You grab the elevator up. And voila you are in heaven. Your first stop along this magical journey is to look at all the rooms they have arranged in perfect layout designs featuring their products. It's like you've been transported to a different world entirely. After meandering around all the rooms, you get to area that houses all the products you've just gazed dreamily at and you load up the cart with everything you need/think you need/want/ desire/dream of. BUT you don't get to fill your cart before you full your stomachs. Yes! There is a restaurant right in the store. Praise the food Gods! It's cafeteria style seating and soda machines and it's perfect. Get: the Swedish meatballs. Finally, before check out, you get to the furniture warehouse section where you pull out your handy pencil/paper and find out where everything is you wrote down (section and bin number). What I love most about IKEA is that they have prices for every single budget. And that they show people with limited space how to maximize their space as much as possible, or spread out. Whatever you need to do! Also: for parents, they have an in house play area for you to drop your little bundles at while you shop. A dream come true! read more

Closest IKEA to Buffalo. Wife and I made our way across the border to pick up a few things for our apartment. The show room is HUGE, so if it's your first time visiting and you're unsure of what to get, plan to spend at least a few hours browsing around. The cafeteria is nice for a quick snack. Easy to only spend $5 for some decent food. Take note: you may need to come with a truck or van to take the furniture home. We got a bed frame and dresser and we're still working on assembling it at our leisurely pace. Keep in mind: customs limit you to about $200 per person when going across the border. We came with 4 people and told the customs agent we had about "400 USD worth of things" and he let us through without much hassle. I'm not sure whether the $200 limit takes into account Canadian currency or US currency, but either way...if you want to avoid a duty tax, you may need to make separate trips. You might get super hungry on the way back to Buffalo after walking around the store for a few hours? If you're a fan of sushi, I highly suggest some AYCE sushi at Seasons in St. Catherines (see review: http://www.yelp.com/biz/seasons-sushi-st-catharines). My complaint and reason for docking a star: we asked at the register for some staff members to help load in our 8 or so packages into our van. The cashier said she would call someone for us, but after 5 or so minutes no one was out there, so my wife and I were just loaded everything in ourselves. What can I say, I just love IKEA. It's worth making the hour drive from Buffalo, NY to check it out. Stopping by the dining area is an absolute must. No matter what you get to eat, pair it with vegetable medallions. You won't regret it. Other favorites are the Swedish meatballs, egg salad sandwich, Mac and cheese kids meal, and the salmon entree. On the way out after checkout, stop by the food counter to grab a lingonberry sundae. For $1.50, it's worth every penny. Also, grab a box of vegetable medallions to go from the market. Living in Waterloo Region, we don't have an IKEA location. I have always said that if they ever open a location in Waterloo Region I would be there regularly, and I don't think I am alone. This location is the closest to where we live and we come here regularly, often times I will meet people that I know who have made the same journey here - from Waterloo Region to the Burlington IKEA. I love shopping for things for our home here. Everything from storage shelves (like the GORM wooden ones) to furniture (the DAVE laptop desk is a favourite in our household) to kitchen items (too many to count, we have purchased cutlery and glassware among others) for your home - available here. But hey, this is Yelp - and I would be remiss if I did not mention the food! $1 breakfast (sausage, scrambled eggs and potatoes) in the morning before 11 am - I will often get a "double" - two orders on one plate. If you are there in the half hour before the store opens, you get free coffee. Such a great deal! read more

That's more like it. The last time I went to an Ikea was a few years ago in Portland, Oregon. It was a nightmare of an experience and almost scared me off of Ikea altogether. However, we liquidated most of our furniture before we moved across country so we needed inexpensive but attractive end tables and a coffee table. We were bummed to find the playroom full but our kids remained in good spirits during our shopping trip. It helped that this Ikea is roomier than the Portland Ikea and you can go where you want instead of being forced down every single aisle. If we weren't on a tight budget, there's a few more things we would have purchased. We'll be back. And you know why? Because we could look or, more importantly, not look at our leisure. This is the closest Ikea if you live in Western New York like me, but if you're near Toronto, there's a couple more in Vaughn and in North York. I've only been to one, so I can't say which one is your best bet. read more

You probably know what to expect at any Ikea right? Mostly true, but this one is smaller than any I've been to. It also serves anyone from Niagara to Oakville, and everyone in between - probably K-W as well. As such, It's quite crowded. Though the food shouldn't be a significant reason part of the visit, let's be honest and admit that it is. The whole kitchen/dinning area is smaller and much slower service. I think the menu was smaller too. Missing out on prime rib was a letdown! Still, it is Ikea and you'll probably find what you're looking for. read more

Having made four trips to this IKEA this weekend (long story) I feel like I know the place inside out at this point. I needed to pick up furniture and supplies for a loft apartment and found everything I needed quickly, and everything was in stock. Having purchased a few incorrect items (including a mattress that I opened before realizing it was the wrong size) the returns department were great - quick and helpful even though I lost my receipt (I know, I know). This IKEA is far less busy than either the North York or Etobicoke stores, even though it's a bit smaller. Tip: Go very early or very late to avoid the crowds. The wait for returns can be long so get there early too. Oh, and don't forget to pick up some frozen yoghurt after all that hard work! read more

First timers at IKEA! We've heard all about the cult following for this chain and were so excited to see what all the fuss was about, and boy did we underestimate how popular this place is. We came on a Saturday afternoon, surely a peak hour, and there wasn't an open parking space as far as our eyes could see. We ended up parking in front of the grocery store a few stores over and made the quick walk over. We didn't plan on buying anything since we're moving soon, but checked out the selection for after our move. We quickly understood the style and demographics the store caters too and realized it wasn't for us. Regardless, we appreciated seeing the selection and enjoyed the labyrinthine layout. Of course we stopped for lunch. As newbies, we didn't know there were two different eateries, the cafe near the check-outs, and the restaurant in the marketplace. We were confused when all we saw was pizza and hot dogs, when we wanted the famous meatballs! Eventually we found it, and thank goodness for that. The meatballs were very tasty and the plate was very satisfying for a great price. My husband ordered the fish and chips, and they were great, too. The Daim cake was out of this world. If there's anything we return for, it will be the Daim cake! read more

We live right in between the two IKEA's ( Burlington & Etobicoke ) so distance wise it would be the same to drive both ways but we always end up getting much faster to and from the Burlington IKEA just because of the Toronto traffic. First off we just went there yesterday and what I noticed is that there is no lowered sidewalk at the return entrance of IKEA and I had to heave the shopping card with the car seat first over some concrete parking blocks, then the side walks and squeeze between some metal bars. I am not sure why they are protecting the loading area so badly maybe they had bad experiences with people backing into IKEA to load up there stuff. So we first went to return some items at the return counter and I must say that their return policies are amazing. They have never given me any hassle, you bring their item assembled not assembled with box without box with tags without tags with receipt or without and they will take everything back no problems!! Really amazing!! The store itself is just one huge maze but what I love about it is the little shortcuts. It gives you the option to browse and go for a stroll through the entire store or just zip through the shortcuts and lets you get from point A to B in the shortest amount of time. Then when you get hungry ( which you always somehow end up getting at IKEA ), you can go to their cafeteria and have breakfast lunch or dinner. The prices are unbeatable and their Meatballs & Fries taste really amazing. I can't judge the other stuff because that's all I ever ordered there. Well and otherwise you know that the cheap stuff at IKEA is cheap and will most likely fall apart sooner then later and the pricey stuff is sometimes actually pretty solid furniture. read more

Twice I've gone to place an expensive order online, only to be told "curbside pickup isn't available on your item". When I call, I get told that the items I'm looking for are "not completely in stock", but rather parts of them as they've been picked apart replacing other peoples missing pieces in THEIR orders. Why does ikea have inventory listed as in stock on their website when it's only bits and pieces of an entire thing? I've not had one successful shopping experience through ikea Burlington. read more

Horrible customer. We had a kitchen delivery date for April 5. Between 5-9. They called around 1pm that they were 10 minutes away?? We are an hour away from work. They told us they would return between 5-9. At 7+ a call tells us not coming until Tuesday after. Which is 4 days later. We paid a company to build our kitchen the next day.. we are out funds, plus travel time .. they say we will get our delivery $$85. Back., hahaha. This store is dangerous to your wallet! There are so many great things here it can take hours to get through. Most things are very reasonably priced but with so many options it can add up quick if you're not careful. There is a cafeteria/restaurant right on site although, I was really disappointed in the food . We decided to eat here on the recommendation of a few friends. Sadly my Swedish meatballs were dry and the potatoes tasted like they came from a box. The cheesecake was still frozen and the fish and chips had much more breading than fish. While the food definitely could have been better that's not the reason you should come to this store. Make sure you sign up for their free loyalty program before you cash out. There is a kiosk right by the checkout and you might get some money off your purchase as well as an extended return policy. I wish there was one in Buffalo but the drive up is not too bad as long as you avoid rush hour traffic or busy bridge crossing times. read more

I have purchased a series of personal memories in flat-packed boxes here: - shadowboxes for my Nana's arrowheads from the farm - 'artwork' for a callcentre in Fredericton that I shipped to them by BUS (haha... bus.) - 50c hotdogs - Beer glasses The good: - All Ikeas are located near a hiway - All Ikeas have efficient, flat-pack parking lots - All Ikeas have 50c hot dogs - All Ikeas have the online stock check so you can see if your item is available before you drive down there to get it The bad: - Now that I am a grown up I hate pretty much everything here that costs less than $1000, and if I had $1000 I wouldn't be shopping here (aka I have champagne taste on an ikea budget) - It's always packed here. At 2:30pm on a Tuesday in April, it's fricking rammed and you have to wait in line for everything. - They have a ball pit here for your screaming children yet people insist on keeping them with them, every time I am here. Overall, this Ikea is exactly the same as every single Ikea I have been to, except it is in Burlington. So... I would go here vs. another location vs. ordering online based on convenience. read more

I've been to the Ikea in North York and Vaughan a number of times, and the Burlington Ikea --- while older and smaller --- is not nearly as crowded. It feels like a "local" store: not too big, and not too small. Shopping at some of the larger Ikea stores closer to Toronto is like trying to work your way through a busy museum - so many people packed in the aisles that you can only move a few feet at a time and end up staring at the same display for eons while waiting for the foot-traffic to move. That doesn't happen here. Still, there's always a long line-up with several screaming children in the restaurant. But the vegan meatballs are good, and so is the gravy, and where else can you eat dinner for $7? The food is not gourmet, but it's tasty and cheap. The store itself is.....well, it's Ikea. It's full of affordable and stylish furniture and accessories. The staff is quite helpful. There's always something new to look at, and Ikea can turn shopping into a fun leisure activity. It's fun to wander through the store every now and then, and if you can bear the crowds, you can be entertained for hours and have an inexpensive lunch as well. The play area is also nice --- the kids are supervised while you look around. It's unfortunate that on weekends, some folks prefer to just abandon their children in the kid's furniture section, assuming that the world will babysit them. Yeah, I've seen that several times. Otherwise, Ikea is an entertaining, somewhat exhausting shopping excursion. You can pick up a small table for $10 or a plant for $6. Pillows, throw blankets, lamps, dishes and kitchen-ware - Ikea has a lot of fun household items, as well as decent rugs and seasonal items such as patio furniture or Christmas trees. We wanted to have lunch and buy a laundry basket. It was a Saturday morning and the parking lot was a zoo. We circled and circled until we found a spot. It was a bit nerve racking but at least we ended up getting a spot close to the doors. It was peak lunch time and the line to buy food was very long. The menu is brightly displayed on the walls. You get a tray and start picking out your choices of ready made plated self serve foods or full service. There are plenty of tables to sit at. A couple of us got soup and sandwich and some kind of Swedish Daim cake. The other person got the famous Swedish meatballs plate. The coffee was hot and went well with the cake we got. The soup was full of veggies and tasted pretty good. The fries with gravy was the best. Two of liked the meatballs the other thought they were gross. After we finished our lunch we ventured out into the store. It was packed. Walking slowly following the arrows displayed on the floor showing which way to walk. It was a slow and steady death march. We found the laundry basket we wanted along with a few other items and headed for the checkout. The lines to checkout went quickly. After checking out we bought a package of their famous cinnamon buns and some soft serve ice cream cones as a reward for surviving the crazy. I enjoyed seeing all the furniture on display. This place offers colors and patterns that you don't see anywhere else. The furniture you buy you will have to assemble yourself. read more

I love this store! The prices are low and the quality of items is very good. Recently, I have made the switch to LED using only bulbs I bought at this store. All in all, I paid $300 for 96 light bulbs of different kinds. I will save around $350 per year on energy because of this. I really recommend this store and all ikea stores for people that are looking for low prices, high quality and energy/water efficiency. Came up from Buffalo today with my mom and cousin, who was looking for a cabinet for her son's room. Took about 1.5 hours, maybe a little under. There was NO bridge traffic there or back. Thank goodness! Don't bother getting a shopping cart when you get in if you're going to browse the showroom first. Everything they have in the showrooms, they also have downstairs. I wouldn't take this route next time because walking the showroom ate up a lot of unnecessary time, though it was nice to see the rooms! Some great decorating ideas! I got an awesome accent pillow for less than $20. It's down filled and really nice sturdy material. Pillows are expensive so this was a great buy! I also got a mattress cover for $30, queen size. I saw these at the mattress store and some department stores for at least $50, so another good deal. I LOVED several of the lamps/lights throughout the store. I don't need any now but when/if I do, I will certainly order them! We ate lunch at the cafeteria and I thought it was really pretty good! I got a gravlax wrap, cup of broccoli cheddar soup, and 5 meatballs. The gravlax is delicious!!! I am a huge fan of lox & cream cheese so this delighted me! Inexpensive too. The soup was good. Tasty! And the meatballs were also delicious! Yum yum yum! Lingonberry, as I sampled with the little cup of jam with my meatballs and a juice box, is like cranberry with less bite to it. My mom and cousin split and egg salad sandwich and each got cinnamon rolls. They said the sandwich was great, rolls were dry. They looked better down by the cash registers.
