I bought 6 two-bite butter tarts in raisin and pecan for the table and they were just as scrumptious as I had recalled. Crispy, flakey crust with a gooey slightly burnt toffee center. Really tasty! One tart wasn't sufficient for me but two really hit the spot! I also had a yummy cappuccino, one friend had an Americano and the other ordered an espresso and beef and onion pot pie and said the food and drinks were excellent. The whoopie pie was a good ratio of chocolate cake to cream filling. I'm not a fan of cream but this went well with the cake mounds. My cousin did find the cake on the dry side. I don't like things that are very sweet so I found the butter tart on the sweet side but not too, too sweet. Around the eight or ninth cupcake, it dawned on us there were twelve flavours total so we ended up with one of each. The cupcakes are so pretty and made for such a festive celebration. Honestly, they are some of the most beautifully decorated cupcakes I've seen which is always nice. Taste wise, I tried three over a few days: Rainbow, Fairy Bread and their red velvet. While I must say the first two (while fun and lovely) were a bit underwhelming since they were basically just vanilla cupcakes, their red velvet cupcake was wonderful. It was so moist and rich and had wonderful cream cheese frosting. The others were less stand out and memorable. Their other flavours seemed so intriguing though and going by the reactions of my family, I think they were also quite great. I would definitely return again. My brother is not a frosting fan so for him cupcakes are all about the cake and he has been raving about how light and fluffy, yet flavourful the cake was all afternoon. Often frosting/icing can be end up tasting like icing sugar above all else but that wasn't the case here at all. When my sister got off her call, we went in for a second - Men are from Mars, a chocolate cupcake topped with malt frosting dipped in a chocolate shell with a caramel centre. It sounds like a lot but once again they nailed each flavour and they all worked together so well. I normally avoid chocolate cakes but this one was delicious and I'd definitely recommend. On the menu, it is listed as $7.99/each with three toppings included and any additional toppings as 0.49 each with the exception of wild mushroom mix for 0.65. I ordered the three included toppings as mentioned and one additional topping - wild mushrooms listed as 0.65. In total, I was supposed to pay $7.99 * 2 = $15.98 + (0.65*2 = $1.30) = $17.28. Note that Pita bread for 0.99 is added to the receipt and isn't part of these calculations. At checkout, the cost was $20.97 before tax. I don't understand how they came up with this number. I've been repeatedly paying this amount on every visit for months.. When addressing this issue with the owner, first he said the menu isn't updated, then he made his own calculations without showing me and claimed to have mistakenly overcharged me by a dollar.. but still going back and recalculating, the numbers don't add up! These people are charging more without being transparent. Be on the lookout!
