    Lemon meringue!! Disgusting !!!!
    Chad J.

First and last time at this place! Decor is lovely but the service was very slow and the food hardly edible. After waiting 35 minutes for a breakfast skillet and a hot turkey sandwich. I was served mashed potato covered in garlic powder, sautéed carrots that were raw with peel partly on. The skillet had over cooked sausage that was clearly days old and so dry it crumbled with the fork. The bread was cut paper thin and dried out from being toasted. To compensate they packaged a dessert each to go, once we opened it when we got home the lemon pie looked about a month old! The lemon had curdled, the meringue was flat and dried out and could be stretched with your fingers !!! Looked like an old leather boot !! Absolutely the worse food we have ever eaten.

True family diner, has a dedicated seniors menu and healthy portions. Buy a whole chocolate cream pie to go! It was good!

    Review Highlights - Frannie's

We had to drive a short ways outside of Guelph to get here, but it was worth the drive; especially considering the terrible breakfast we had in town yesterday.

In the summer, I've tried and LOVED their BLUEBERRY PECAN LOAF, WALNUT FIG BREAD, and PUMPKIN CHEESECAKE SQUARE. The seasonal breads are usually a couple dollars more. On their regular menu, their COUNTY BREAD sourdough was good but I found their caneles very subpar.

All their breads and baked goods use high quality local ingredients. Located on the main street of downtown Elora, this bakery is popular among the out-of-towners who visit the area. The bakery has no seating indoors and a single table outside if you'd like to enjoy your treats. However, it is mainly take out only. I came by Elora Bread Trading Co. on a Sunday and was excited to find a great selection of baked goods including 4 types of sourdough (country, seeded, maple cinnamon raisin and marble rye), scones (buttermilk, cheddar + chive, cranberry, ginger peach), and focaccia (rosemary or cornbread jalapeno). Moreover, they also had cinnamon buns, brownies, caneles, donuts, pizza dough, and cookies for sale as well. There are some canned and bottles drinks as well for sale. I decided to get a cornbread and jalapeno focaccia, a buttermilk scone, and caneles. All the items I got were great! Service was also friendly as well. Overall, a cute local bakery in Elora if you ever decide to visit!

The Kouignamann, which is their specialty, and the peach cinnamon sticky bun were my absolute favorites. The Kouignamann reminded me of a croissant but with a richer, buttery flavor and a caramelized sugar coating that made every bite heavenly. This shop truly has it all. Along with the baked goods, they also offer coffee, lattes, house-made ice cream, local craft drinks, and even an assortment of vintage-style gifts that look like they came straight out of the 1950s. It really lives up to its name as a bakery and provisions store. The interior gives off a cozy 1970s vibe with a modern twist. There is lots of natural sunlight, which makes the space warm and inviting. Aura, the owner, was amazing. She was friendly, kind, and even threw in a few extra treats for us during our visit. It added such a personal touch to an already wonderful experience. The shop is conveniently located right beside Frederick Mall, so it is easy to find, and there is parking available on the property

Lots of parking, which is even better, but that's also me coming in at 5pm on a Thursday. There was maybe 2 or 3 more patrons in the establishment. Water was already on the table when I got there, which is great. The waitress came and took my beverage order and came back with my hot water in about 5 minutes. They have specials every day; Thursday is their fajita special. Chicken or steak fajitas for about $11.50 or so? Calamari was also on sale for $8.50. Overall, ambiance was not too bad. It was quiet since no one was there. Service was mediocre. Waitress came to take the table's bevvy order (once the whole party was there), we told her that we were ready to order food as well, but she walked away, which was really weird. She came back maybe about 10 minutes later with a glass of wine and took our order and as I was asking for more hot water, she walks away and disappears for a while. This seemed to be a repeated occurence that night. I ordered the steak fajitas. Didn't get my tortillas or side condiments until after I got my sizzling plate. Seems that they had forgotten my order.. or someone else's and didn't know who had what. A friend ordered a chicken fajita and the sizzling chicken plate was burnt. The individual told the waitress that it was burnt, but she proceeded to put it on the table and left us. Cobb salad is a large portion and looked really good. Mediterranean salad was half the size. Bills were messed up as well at the end. Specials weren't given. Soup sizes were small. Antijitos were not available in the evening because they sold out of it in the afternoon... (aren't they just tortillas and cream cheese?... weird.) The food was subpar. the service sucked. It was cheap though so if you're looking for cheap eats, great! But it wouldn't be my first choice to dine at.
