We love Portuguese food and always enjoy the delicious eats at Lisboa. It is really the only Portuguese restaurant I know of in the KW and surrounding area. I never got a chance to try their pastel de nata's yet as they're almost always sold out but their chicken, rice and potatoes are great. I especially love their fried fish and shrimp & cheese patties. The homemade piri-piri sauce they make is AMAZING. I would buy a big jar of it separately. I used Lisboa for an event with their party trays and their pricing is wonderful given the amount. Highly recommend!

I probably need to return and adjust my rating. Last Sunday, I had a craving for Portuguese custard tarts. I decided to give this place a shot at around 5 pm. There is plenty of parking. It feels like a small town in this shopping district. I parked and went inside. To my right were the pastries and desserts. Sadly, there were no custard tarts. I was disappointed. I love custard tarts so much. I went to the hot food items on the left. I went with beef stew, which looked appetizing. Although I could have eaten dinner there, I went with takeout and brought the stew back to my hotel. The verdict? I didn't like it. I ate a few bites and threw it out. The beef cubes were tough at times. The stew sauce was too salty for my liking. I will go back again when I'm in Waterloo. Hopefully, I can get some custard tarts and maybe try some other hot food item that is tasty. (179)

Are you looking for quality Portuguese cuisine? At Lisboa Bakery and Grill you can get all that and more, with the famous Piri-Piri Chicken made fresh every day (you can often see the chicken spinning on the open flame when you walk in the place - and it smells delicious). There is also a full cafe service, including the Galao (pronounced Gal-Own), a Portuguese specialty hot drink made with espresso and foamed milk, as well as the Pastel De Nata (a Portuguese egg tart pastry) and other Portuguese baked goods. Although take out and catering is very popular here, there is table service and the place is also licensed to serve. My wife and I will often partake of the breakfast special (two eggs any style, bacon or sausage, home fries and two thin, crispy slices of buttered Portuguese white bread) here, served every day until 11 am. In the summertime there is an excellent patio here looking over the rest of the "Main Street" here in Williamsburg. My wife and step-daughter love coming here for the Galao since we were in the Azores, and we keep coming back for more!

A great place for something different! An authentic Portuguese restaurant. The food and menu are European, and great! The chicken and other roasted meats are their speciality. The bakery produces authentic Portuguese bread and desserts. The bread unfortunately is always sold out! People order it in advance because it is so good. The desserts are to die for! Some you have never heard of like bean tarts. All are great and the price is fair. They also host soccer parties in season with large screen projectors and bleachers. A fun place to eat, or shop for European delicacies.

We met our daughter and her boyfriend for lunch…read more We arrived at 12:30 pm and the place was empty. We ordered 2 of the Beef ribs - 3 ribs with a side (onions rings) The daughter orders a rack (7 ribs) and the wife ordered the Chicken on a skewer. Issue 1: the place was cold - so much so my wife asked if they could turn up the heat. issue 2: we ordered and paid for our food at 12:45 pm. At 1:15 pm I got up to see where they were. I was told the food would be out in 5 minutes. 12 minutes later one order of beef ribs came out. The rest came out in 4 minutes intervals. Not wanting to be rude i waited until everyone was served. By the time the food was all served it was cool. Issue 3: the back ribs were very fatty. In fact the bones seemed more fat than meat. Three ribs $40 and Seven ribs $85. So a rib with 50% fat makes these prices seem ridiculous. Issue 4: a lack of serviettes. When you have three orders of ribs. Six napkins is not enough. Issue 5: no one came out to see if the meal was fine, did we need more napkins or if we wanted desert. Issue 6: the ribs are smoked. In fact the smoke was very good but you could not order plain ribs. I asked that my sauce be served on the side. It was slathered over my ribs. Issue 7: a complete lack of salt. I found a single salt seller and I was surprised at how badly the meal needed salt. But without out it and the food was him drum. Bottom line: try somewhere else

I received another text at 4:20 saying my order could be picked up at 4:55. When I called to find out what was going on, and if my order would actually be ready at 4:55, I was told that they were out of rice and if I wanted to change it to another side. I did not have time to wait and was concerned my order time would change for the 3rd time, so asked for my order to be cancelled. I was told that my order was already on the grill and they would prefer not to cancel. I had to tell them 3 times that I did not have time to wait, as my order was now going to be almost 45mins after the initial time I was told it would be ready.

(Back-to-back Portuguese food in the GTA (is Hamilton included?) - 1 of 2)…read more I was planning to look for a casual Portuguese diner or bakery but it was nearing the hour that they'd all be closing. This meant I had to eat at a regular Portuguese restaurant. I looked on my phone and found this one - Toma-La. I thought it was a weird name. Toma-La sits in a shopping mall along a big north-south artery from Hamilton out toward the airport named Upper James Rd. There is a good sized area of parking right in front of the store. I assumed you went up to the counter to order because I saw other people doing that. There is table service, too. Still, I ordered at the counter and the food was brought out to my table. I don't "do" chicken piri piri and I couldn't settle on anything from the regular menu, as it was later in the evening and I was tired. I looked at their specials menu, which changes (almost) daily, and saw they had salmon. I saw that it came with potatoes. I asked that they not be fries and the platter came with boiled potatoes. Now, being in the "Maple Leaf Country," I didn't worry too much about ordering salmon. (For that matter, I once had a surprisingly good salmon platter at a Denny's near the beach in Jacksonville, FL.) They delivered on the salmon. It was a nice filet and it was very tasty. With the platter, I had a pastel de nata and a bottle of the Sumol maracuja flavored soft drink, which I order often. I liked the ambiance of the restaurant. It's a little boring on the outside, but, inside, it's sort of modern rustic and industrial at the same time. I received very good service and there were other patrons in the restaurant as well as people coming in for Door Dash and Uber Eats. Who does that, anyway? I've never done this Door Dash or Uber Eats thing. Would it be those reasonably well-paid people who tech remotely and have a penchant for Thai food to counterbalance their often accurately profiled personalities? And, along with this service, I got a mini-seminar in culture because I asked about the parts of Portugal and its diaspora that the ownership and employees hailed from, and they were glad to oblige. The prices are standard for a mid-priced ethnic food eatery in a conventional suburban outdoor mall. Also, consider the exchange rate (divide by ~1.33) to arrive at American dollars. Note that the specials are nicely priced and they feature some interesting ones over the course of the week. As for the name, the word "toma" is also found in Spanish and is a verb meaning take. It was told that "toma-la" is a Portuguese expression meaning "take it" and I've also seen it as "toma-la da ca," which means "take it from here." The moral of the story is live and learn ... and eat.

The seasonings and flavours are out of this world and stay with you the entire day. Couldn't help but eat everything entirely off my plate. The potatoes are so delicious as well as their piri piri sauce. We also shared onion rings and they were the most flavourful, and crisp crunchy onion rings I've ever had! 10/10 highly recommend!

Like I said, it's a cool sort of rustic and industrial. There's the classic rooster emblem seen in many Portuguese locales.

The smoked and grilled portuguese chorizo sausage was small for $14.00 and not sliced up but rather had the appearance of hand torn pieces then thrown into a plate. The bifana sandwiches had good slices of pork, not very much though Overall, the flavors didn't appear to be authentically Portuguese in flavor, like the lack of garlic. Food was very muted and tame, plus there was no mustard at the table nor was it offered. Service was friendly and we were asked twice if we were doing okay or if we needed anything. We felt kinda welcomed when we came in to the restaurant but it seems to be more of a place most people get food to go. There were some tables so you can choose to dine in. At a guess there is about 12 tables for up to 3 people and four tables placed together to make a longer table for those who had a party of 8 diners who were together. There was no radio or music on tonight, but there was a tv playing a soccer match in the background. It was decent place, wish it was more authentic portuguese flavors but overall it was a 4 out 5.
