(Called in a pick up order and it was around 10mins) Dry aged beef potstickers: 3.5/5 I wanted to love these dumplings, and had high expectations for them, but I could not give them a 5/5. Mainly due to the fact of: the dumplings didn't have much of a flavor? The meat was very tender, but it tasted more like a hamburger vs Asian dumpling filling? I was expecting it to be like a higher quality 生煎包 (pan fried dumpling). Also, other reasons why I don't give this a better rating was because I was expecting this place to make their own sweet soy sauce, or some type of sauce to pair with it. The only sweet soy sauce they provided were your typical red soy sauce packets which diminished the experience. While strolling around, I started to get hungry. This place was ideal because 'snacks?' Sure! I ordered the pork belly Bao and beef potstickers. The potstickers were my favorite since the beef was bountiful and tasted fresh (which is funny because it is dry aged beef.) The soy sauce and hot sauce went great. Delicious and affordable Chinese food in a neighborhood that has an unfortunate dearth of Chinese options. Their dumplings are indeed some of the best in the city. I'm especially a fan of their pork and shrimp wontons, which can be ordered both as an appetizer portion soup and an entree size soup noodle. The veggie noodles and double happiness rice both deserve an honorable mention as well, the former being their sole vegetarian entree. Vibes for dining in are simple and unassuming, true to their "snack shop" name, but service is quick and friendly. Cute tiny rest stop just before Prospect park that seems perfect for a quick meal before entering the park itself. I got two orders - the pork and the beef. All the dumplings had skin that was on the thicker side. I'm more a thin skin fan myself, but this is personal preference and thicc on a cold day isn't too bad either. I was super excited to stumble upon this after getting off the subway for Prospect Park. I knew it had a pop up in a different location but had no idea it would be right next to the station I was at. I got the Pork Belly Bun since people raved about that and also ordered the Juicy Pork Dumplings and Shanghai Vegetable Dumplings. The pork belly was not kind of dry and for $5 it is overpriced. While waiting in line for a concert at Prospect Park, I decided to grab some takeout from this place. I put my order through on Yelp and walked over to pick it up. It was ready fairly quickly and I didn't have to wait long at all. I ordered the Dry Aged Beef Potstickers and the Incredible Har Gow dumplings. I was so excited but unfortunately was not impressed. I saw this place on an Insta story and after looking at photos of this spot on Yelp, I knew I had to come. Thank goodness it lived up to the hype! Dry aged beef potstickers ($7) and the gwaco pork belly bun ($5) are a fab combo for a quick lunch. Not gonna lie my initial thought was $5 for one bun is pricey but honestly the pork belly was SO good. Good, made to order dumplings that are a perfect addition to a picnic in Prospect Park (a block away). But alas, the servings are a okay making it not as great in terms of value but yeah. Had a chance to check out this cute snack shop! Their bubble tea is made out of real tea which makes it taste better than the powdery stuff. We wanted to try their Hong Kong hot cakes but it was sold out so it must be a popular dish. We ended up getting the veggie and beef dumplings but we preferred the beef ones. We tried two of their large dishes and the noodle one was real tasty! I would come back again and try other menu items and they do take out! Excellent dumplings that probably have the benefit of a bit more TLC than those you'd get in Chinatown. First visit, I got the pork dumplings and beef potstickers, both of which were very good, but I liked the potstickers a little bit more. I also got the pork belly gwaco bao, which I also enjoyed, but I didn't think it compared well to some of the other great pork buns in the city. Love everything about this place! Pork or Shrimp dumplings. BBQ ribs. This is an absolute hidden gem in Park Slope.

The "Shanghai belly" noodles with melt-in-your-mouth pork belly, garlic, and ginger scallion sauce was my favorite. The sweet chili ribs were slightly crunchy and just the right amount of sweet. The vinegary pickled cucumbers on the side were a refreshing touch. The pan-fried pork dumplings were very juicy, but overall it was a tad salty (though I'm a bit sensitive to salt). But overall I enjoyed every bite and need to come back for more. The shop is inspired by old Chinatown teahouses and the walls are lined with Asian snacks like Yan Yan and Pocky. There are only a few tables at the Windsor Terrace location (the entire restaurant probably only seats 10 people max), but it's worth the trek out there. They serve everything from boba to Hong Kong hot cakes to pork belly bao, so there are plenty of things to try! Giving it four stars because the price point was less than ideal for a place touted as being "cheap" ($40 for the noodles, ribs, and dumplings) and because they may have oversold themselves as "best dumplings" in NYC. read more

That said, I stick mostly to the dumplings (desserts supposed to be great but haven't tried) and the from-scratch bubble tea. The rice dishes are good but are mostly rice, which just isnt that satisfying. The double happiness is the best rice dish if you're going to get one. Absolutely delicious dumplings!!! Incredibly homemade. The famous dry aged beef dumplings are delicious, but the veggie dumplings are arguably even better! They were deliciously thick and crispy, stuffed with fresh carrots and cabbage / radish (?) topped with a green sauce and sesame seeds. Amazing! They are also incredibly kind and attentive! Perfect. This is as close as it gets to the baos and dumplings I used to eat in Hong Kong. The pork belly bao is perfectly seasoned, tender, and juicy. I was bummed when Eton, our go-to neighborhood dumpling place, closed years ago. Their dumplings -- we'd get an assortment, but the chicken mushroom ones were our fave-- were a go-to weekly meal for us. I was super excited when East Wind popped up on Smith Street -- finally, a local dumpling place to try! We've eaten there and gotten take out numerous times over the last few months. The first and second round, we tried all four dumpling varieties -- pork, beef, shrimp and vegetable. All were good, but I'd rank them as follows: 1. Veggie (yep, I'm not a veggie-centric eater, but these are so good!) 2. A tie between the shrimp and the pork (get both) 3. Beef We omitted the beef ones in our latest order, as we find them less flavorful than the pork. The portions are large'ish, tasty and definitely filling/satisfying. For the two of us, three orders are sufficient, but we usually get four so we can snack on them later. They do offer non-dumpling options, including a beef with broccoli we will likely try next time. Note for locals: If you're drinking with friends at nearby Bar Great Harry, you can bring in take-out and the East Wind dumplings are a perfect pairing. To me, the one obvious opportunity for improvement is the dipping sauce component. If I remember correctly, Eton had a couple sauce options. Even if these guys stick with just the one basic option, they need to put it in larger containers -- you can't dunk a large dumpling into a tiny container! Also, I wouldn't mind a chicken dumpling option. Talk to the guy from Eton and get his recipe -- I think his were chicken mushroom -- as that was their must-have option. Im not the type to leave food reviews no matter how much i dislike ones food. I would simply just not go back. But i felt the need for this one, grew up around sunset park foods there are great, not the best but for the price you can't expect 3 star Michelin. Came across this dumpling store while working around the area, Saw all the awards posted in front of the door stating how good the dumplings are. So i gave it a shot, knowing i could get 6 dumplings for $2.50 from a very notable restaurant, but that was a 25min drive and since i was working around the area I can't risk spending 30min looking for parking after. But if it tastes good, hey I wouldn't mind the price for good food. Upon receiving my order i felt robbed, and scammed. Had i know $7.50 would only get you FIVE bite size dumplings, i would have went across the street for a slice of pizza instead. I was pretty disappointed at the portion cause i know this isn't enough, and that i would still be hungry after. But I'm like good foods always comes in small portions, nothing to complain here right? WRONG!!!!!!! The amount of salt, and the after taste of the pork, you would need to drink a full bottle of water to even wash it out, i was stuffed alone from drinking the water. Like I said I usually don't complain, but if you're paying $1.50 per dumpling that leaves a very strong porky after taste, plus the salt. I don't know, maybe i got a bad batch, but i still would not be coming back, cause its not worth the price at all, $7.50 would have bought me around 20 dumplings. read more

I shared Juicy Pork Dumplings, Dry Aged Beef Potstickers, Sweet Chili Ribs and Rice with a friend. For dessert we shared a bubble waffle that was covered in powdered sugar and drank bubble tea. To start things off, the decor delivers a state of happiness any individual can appreciate, especially when it's a dreary night with the rain batting down on poor souls like me. Waltzed in here last night with no expectation around 7:30pm and stayed until closing because we kept on ordering plates and plates of their snacks. Menu, although small, packs a powerful punch of flavor in each and every dish. How can you turn down a pork belly bun? Why would you say no to happy Buddha vegetables? Can you decline these mouthwatering pot stickers? You can't. And I didn't. You can taste the sincerity in every bite, no slacking here whatsoever! The space is small. But put to good use. It has about eight (bar) stools divided between two counters with four tables and chairs in the middle. It's fresh and clean. Really very clean. It's a one page no frill menu which I like. If you eat in they'll bring to your table a cup of complimentary tea. I didn't drink it as I'm not a tea person. Considered asking for wine replacement but I wanted to continued the good manners that abounds here. I only tired the pan fried juicy dumplings and it lived up to its name. I also got some dry snacks to go as I'm a big fan of most Chinese snacks. I heard other diners comment about how great their selections tasted. Nice. This was my first time ordering from this restaurant at this location. I ordered spring rolls, veggie dumplings and veggie noodles. Everything was greasy, salty, very mushy and totally unhealthy. I never throw food out, but tonight I dumped most of it in the garbage. Not to mention, I found a sharp open metal staple in my noodles as I was eating! Thankfully I pulled it out of my mouth before I swallowed it. Not sure if the food is just as bad at the other locations. All I know is that you may want to avoid the Park Slope location. read more
