Pleasant surprise: upscale cafe in a small town with GREAT comfort food, large portions at affordable price. We enjoyed a generous BLT, delicious chef salad and incredible cheeseburger soup. This is hands down, a 5 Star, 1 $ restaurant. Not the common Amish buffet but great food at a very good price and very friendly and accommodating staff. Our waitress was so friendly and engaged to get married soon. We are in the area camping with NuCamp for a week but will likely return and definitely recommend this gem restaurant. read more

I have eaten here twice and both times it was not good. First time I ordered the roast beef plate with mashed potatoes and it had zero seasoning. I went the second time thinking maybe I just ordered wrong the 1st time. Order the grill chicken strips with mixed vegetables. Chicken tasted like it was marinated in liquid smoke and the texture was terrible. The mixed vegetables looked as if they had been sitting in a pan all day. Very little flavor and obviously not freshly made. Didn't help to see on of the workers in the kitchen come out in what looked to be pajama pants. Waitress did a nice job but that's about the only bright spot. Really a disappointment but there will not be a 3rd visit. read more

Upon arrival you don't realize you are entering an Amish restaurant due to the super modern feel of the restaurant. Lots of natural tones including my current favorite: gray! My aunt and I sat in a booth and she ordered a "build your own burger" where you can choose all the parts. I ordered the grilled chicken not realizing it came on a bun which was a nice surprise. I ordered delicious sweet potato fries along with it. I also added avocado and grilled onions along with my grilled chicken sandwich. The sweet mint iced tea is to die for! Great breakfast and gourmet coffee. The best thing is their dinner time steaks. The quality is as good or better than some high end steakhouses we have been to. The sides are equally as good and the presentation is outstanding. We go, every time we are in the area, at least 4 times per year and would go more often if it wasn't a 5 hour drive. The owner and his wife are on site whenever they are open. Expect a wait on Friday and Saturday evenings. No alcohol! read more

A must try!! I had the Ruben, and the tomato basil soup. Both were amazing! The corn beef had an amazing flavor, The sauerkraut, bread, and thousand Island dressing was also delicious. The real winner was the tomato basil soup! I would highly recommend it if you make a stop here. Also, I tried a maple brown sugar breve that was amazing. We stayed at an Airbnb nearby and the owner highly recommended East Main Kitchen, its a little bit of a drive to downtown Baltic, but once you arrive and walk see the open welcoming contemporary barn feel you realize you are in for a truly special treat. We arrived for a late breakfast on a Thursday morning and were able to seat ourselves. We sat at a table in the middle so we could enjoy the beautiful decor, see the coffee bar and drool over the dessert case. My Dad enjoyed the Baltic Bash, my Mom liked she was able to order ala carte and had 2 eggs, an english muffin and fresh fruit. I enjoyed the Miller Scramble, but instead of gravy I had blue cheese added and it was delicious. Great service, you could see everyone in the restaurant enjoying themselves and then the desserts - homemade daily. I love chocolate raspberry and selected the chocolate raspberry cake to go, but I couldn't wait and enjoyed every bite. Thank you East Main Kitchen for a wonderful time. Great Service (Leah is a pleasant soul and knows her menu) and awesome food. This restaurant is founded in service and care for others. Appetizer choice, was fried green beans ( recommended by Leah) with a house dipping sauce. They were Fantastic, batter was flavorful. We indulged in 2 entrées. An impressive medium rare 8oz fillet with mushrooms and coconut mango rice (packed with flavor) and the Shrimp and grits! The Grits were so buttery, garlic and smooth they resembled mashed potatoes. Their are steaks cuts are plentiful for red meat carnivores visiting Amish country. Great place to eat dinner and the care map is impressive with the communities they have helped as part of the mission to give a hand. Make the Trip to Baltic! read more

Excellent decor! Cozy! Our server was very sweet & coffee was good. We both enjoyed our breakfast. I got fried corn mush, bacon & an egg. I would have preferred real maple syrup to Mrs. Butterworth's packet. Husband got Farmer's Breakfast & we both thought the bacon was exceptional, & he thought his biscuit could've been lighter & fluffier. The open farmhouse feel was great and our waittress was phenomenal! The chicken tortilla soup was great tasting and left nothing to be desired (although a bit pricy at $8/bowl). I ordered the roast beef dinner Manhattan style---great slow cooked beef on homemade Amish bread. Yum! However, the "beef gravy" and mashed potatoes killled it for me. While the potatoes were I am sure real...they were watery tasting (almost gritty) like they were previously refrigerated or frozen at one point in time. The beef gravy...? What did you do with all those lucious beef drippings from that slow roasted beef? Add it to the gravy packet or canned gravy you poured over my plate at least. That gravy killed it for me...keep it all authentic tasting, you were so close!!! read more

I agree with everyone else. The service was incredible and the food delicious with large portions. I had the Reuben with sweet potato fries. The corned beef was tender and hand cut. The fries had a sweet caramel dipping sauce. It was incredible. My husband had the buttermilk chicken and he loved it. Our only disappointment was the coconut cream pie which was more whipped cream than pie and a bit runny for our taste. However we would go back again. We arrived around 4:30 on a Thursday with only about 25% of tables occupied. By 5:30 there was a line out the door. read more

Perfection. I've never had food this food in Amish country. Nothing we got was mediocre but more so phenomenal. The house herb vinegarette is so full of flavor I bought a pint to bring home with me. Roast beef was so hearty. We got the soup and salad (ham & potato soup and chicken pecan salad), kids cheese burger was as large as a regular burger( 9 year old approved) and I had the roast beef, chicken noodles and salad with house herb vinegarette. Great service. Atmosphere is so fun and fresh; modern farmhouse. Service was efficient and server was very kind. We had a great experience and this is officially our new favorite restaurant. Headed home from Amish country, we pulled into a place which unfortunately was closing at 5. A rando directed us to East Main, where he said we would not be disappointed. He wasn't wrong! Beautiful modern farmhouse decor, a small bakery case with tempting pastries and a menu to satisfy most. We were there around 5pm so we got fried pickles which were cut lengthwise and fried in a batter-type coating for an app. My husband had shrimp & grits which he said were runnier than he prefers but still good. The shrimp had a spicy seasoning on it. My MIL had 1 pork chop, noodles & mashed potatoes. The noodles are not like Der Dutchman's, they were saltier in a broth, almost like soup. I had the very popular fried chicken which had a nice crunchy outside. The veg of the day was roasted cauliflower. I didn't know cauliflower could taste as good as it did! It's the best I've ever had. This is def a local joint but feels more upscale. If we come this way again, we'll be sure to stop in. read more

We recently decided to try this place on the way home from Columbus. Note to self: STOP HERE EVERYTIME YOU ARE DRIVING HOME FROM COLUMBUS. Me and my wife have tried almost all of the homestyle restaurants in Holmes County and Amish country. To me, this place is a clear step above all the rest. Hands down the best of the ones we have tried (including Der Dutchman, Farmstead, Mrs Yoder's, Boyd & Wurthmann, Hartville Kitchen). They have a few different options for those who get bored with just the standard fare of Amish style restaurants - we got fried cheese curds for an appetizer. They were amazing. For my meal, I got the ribeye steak and I am drooling just thinking about it. To be honest, I'm not a huge steak guy, but I've tried my fair share. This was absolutely the best tasting and juiciest steak I've ever had. If I ever get hungry for steak I know where I'll be going. My wife got roast beef with mashed potatoes and noodles and LOVED IT. Often the roast beef she has had at other restaurants is fatty. This beef was great quality and amazing flavor. To top it off they have a little coffee shop area with a full menu of coffee options. I thought the coffee was great quality. You won't regret stopping here, even if it's a little outta your way. We will be back! read more

Three cheers for this fabulous dining establishment. The menu lists offerings to satisfy anyone's tastes and appetite. The onion rings can be a stand alone item or enhance any dinner. The pork chops are definitely a mouth-watering item and there is nothing that compares to the Shrimp and Sausage Grits! Try the house salad dressings. And my mother-in-law would really dislike me if I state that the Custard Pie was the best! Well worth the drive if you're within 25 miles of the East Main Cafe. read more

Broasted. Chicken. How did I forget to review this before? I ate here a few months ago, and was amazed at their broasted chicken. Got it again today, and it was just as good. How do they make it that juicy and that crispy at the same time? And the flavor of the breading is so good. Even the quality of the chicken seems better than any other. Just amazing. It's one of those foods that you just feel like you could never buy anywhere else again, because you know it wouldn't measure up. Sides. We've now tried salad (excellent--blackberry vin and herb vin are both very good), noodles (average), and Cole slaw (average). Desserts. They have giant cakes that you can buy by the slice, that are only around $5, which isn't bad. We've tried espresso (amazing, dark choc cake with great flavor coffee icing), coconut (very good), lemon blueberry (good), and berry cream (good). If you want a tender and juicy hamburger with pretty much everything on it you could ever want (my personal fav is avocado, lettuce, cheese, mayonnaise, grilled onions). Many other things are good here too. The shrimp and grits are really good. They are rich but yummy. My Husband loves the grilled pork chop. The cakes are so good and so with it. Their icing is unique-very buttery so if that is something you crave like I do, order a slice of chocolate truffle cake or blueberry lemon cake. You won't regret it! read more

Wonderful food and service. First this place is busy, which is great to see for a local restaurant. And once you try the food you realize why it is so busy. We tried getting take out here one evening but since they were so busy, they stopped taking take out orders which we completely understand. We were able to get dinner from here the next night and it was worth the wait. My wife got the chicken salad wrap and loved it. My daughter got the kids mini corn dogs and ate the whole thing. And I got the roast beef dinner and it was delicious. Tender and flavorful. They also have a wide variety of desserts and coffees. This is a diamond in the rough. Only meaning that I was quite surprised that a restaurant like this is in a small sleepy Amish surrounded village. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries. Nothing fancy. It came out as ordered. The burger itself was delicious. Here's the but...I think the burger would have been more delicious if I was able to pick it up and eat it. I think the burger is too thick and then with the toppings makes it impossible to realistically eat like a sandwich. My other criticism is that the bacon may be liked by many people but I am not a fan. It was hard to eat because of how think the bacon was and really was over cooked and hard. The fries were delicious. Keep those forever. We strolled by the dessert case. My oh my. Was a choice of sweetness. We didn't get any but may have to come back just for dessert. Will I be back?
