Come hungry. Hubby had the pot roast, I had the noodles and mashed potatoes, and together we apparently decided carbohydrates are a food group. The pot roast was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the noodles tasted just like home. We topped it off with strawberry pie and strawberry shortcake. Be aware that this is a cash only place but they have an ATM on site. Decide to try this place as it was close to our hotel and I am so glad we did. This is an old style diner with some counter seating and quite a few tables. They do not take names, so you just have to stand in line and wait your turn to be seated. This process was different for us but it went really well as we had probably 3-4 small groups ahead of us but were seated within less than 10 minutes. The service was very timely but not overbearing. We had drinks and our order taken probably with 5 minutes of being seated which was very nice. We got our food within probably 10-12 minutes of ordering which I thought was really good given how busy it was. As for the food, it was all very good. I had the biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs, hash browns and a sausage patty all of which was very good. The sausage is their own recipe which was a little less seasoned than most but it was a very good patty. My wife had her usual eggs over easy, bacon and toast and she liked it all. The bacon was a thicker cut applewood smoked which was tremendous (she let me try it). We may try it for lunch or dinner if/when in the area again. My brother and I made a quick trip from Canton to Berlin, winding up here at Boyd & Wurthmann. This Amish restaurant had the freshest bread for a sandwich I have ever had. The bologna sandwich was terrific, the slaw was like my mom's, and the iced tea was steeped to a strength I've never had in a restaurant. My brother said his grilled cheese was great. The service was prompt and friendly and the prices are very reasonable. The only negative (which really isn't a true negative) is the restaurant does not accept credit or debit cards. The sign was clearly written to us to see as we entered, but somehow missed it. Thankfully we had enough cash to cover our meal. The charm is strong, the service is great, and the food is fine. The only issue is that B&W is a victim of its own hype - which I don't think it lived up to. Counter to my intuition, the parts that met/exceeded expectations were the side salad and the bread. The salad was taken up a notch by the homemade ranch that accompanied it. The thick homemade bread was good on its own, but a few squirts of the table side peanut butter spread and apple jam is a must-do! Beyond that, the Roast Beef was good but the "Noodles Over Mashed Potatoes" didn't do it for me. Both were listed as "Boyd's favorites" and get high marks from the masses. I wasn't as impressed. The Butterscotch pie was a good call, but I would pass on the Black Raspberry Pie if I had a do-over. I wish the "double crust" dessert actually had more crust because its ratio to the black raspberry filling was ludicrously low. So, after many years of passing through Berlin, we finally decided to give B&W a try. It's always busy, no parking, and a line out the door most times, so we thought that it had to be a really great place to eat. We went at an off hour on purpose, and there was no line. We got seated immediately even though it was still pretty busy. We ordered the country fried steak, mashed potatoes and green beans and the open faced roast beef sandwich that had mashed potatoes with gravy over all. It came out in less than five minutes, so bonus points for that. Our waitress was super nice and very attentive to our needs. The food was just okay for the price. I'm sure that the potatoes weren't real because they were somewhat mealy and flavorless. The roast was cooked there, but it was tough. This restaurant has been in the community for decades, and their motto is "Where the locals eat." We thought that it was pretty expensive for what we got, and we probably won't go back. My son ordered the chicken sandwich, I ordered pot roast, and my husband ordered fried chicken. First you can tell everything is made there. The mayonnaise was nice and yellow it was delicious. Finally tried this popular restaurant after a number of visits to Amish country. Overall experience was just okay. My wife had an entree chicken salad and liked it. Nothing special but was big and looked fresh. I had their fried chicken which was listed as one of their favorites. The chicken was moist but must have been sitting around as the outside was not crisp at all but so soft I didn't eat it. The mashed potatoes were fresh and good and my side salad while simple was tasty. Chicken was pretty disappointing and not near as good as Mrs Yoders in New Hope. Thick enough to spread, but thin enough to squirt out of the bottle. I tried a tiny bit, but it was too sweet for my taste. Hubby ordered the roast beef dinner & got mashed potatoes & noodles as his sides. Gravy on the mashed potatoes & more on the side to add to the roast beef. The roast beef, which I tasted, was shredded, tender & juicy; not dry at all, even without gravy. I decided to try the chicken-fried-steak. It was thicker than any I've ever had, and very crisp coating! I loved that! You can get it with gravy on it or not. I also got the mashed potatoes/gravy as a side as well as green beans. The beans were tender but not over cooked and the only seasoning on them (she told me) is butter. I prefer a chicken gravy, but the brown beef gravy was still good. It's so rich & flavorful, hubby wished I knew how to make it (& the roast) like that! While we were waiting to be seated, I notices signs about fresh strawberry pie now available! But when I asked, I found out it was gone. So I ordered the black raspberry pie- DELICIOUS! And that whipped cream (you choose if you want it)! SO thick, & creamy and not overly sweet! The best whipped cream I can remember having! It was made with real black raspberries & has the seeds in in- not some gooey processed filling that comes out of a bag. Our server said they make the pies fresh every morning. I ate half my pie, then half my meat & potatoes and all the green beans. I know what I'm having tomorrow! It's probably good we don't live near here, or we'd go broke & gain weight! Meals aren't cheap, by any means. Love this place. In the middle of Berlin's shopping district, they serve plain comfort food at a reasonable price. My favorite is the roast beef. Slow cooked , juicy and not too fatty. Every time we head east on route 62 through Berlin, and every time we head west on route 62 through Berlin, OH, we stop at Bing and Worthmann's. The first time was years ago when bringing a freshman at Ohio U. for orientation from Connecticut, the most recent was driving from Canfield, OH, to Cincinnati, now that we live Ohio. This is our 8th time. B & W is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants we have ever found, whether it be in North America, or in Europe. Like the Army, my wife and I travel on our stomachs! This is a truly great find, but BRING CASH, no Credit Cards!!! We usually charge every meal, but this place is definitely worth bringing cash. It is always packed, so apparently a lot of people feel the same way I do. I enjoy finding new places, but when heading through Holmes County I think there are enough options on their menu to make B & W, a very interesting place. Everything is wonderful, but SAVE ROOM for dessert (chocolate cheesecake with strawberries was AMAZING - I would have never thought that combination would be good, but it was out of this world). I love the vibe and scenery of Berlin and surrounding areas. We've been coming down here for 10+ years now and never had heard of the place until recently. Went today and had lunch. The line was already out the door by 11:10 am. The place isn't overly big so it's usually crowded most days. The food is what you would expect from a place down here. Which to me is great. The service was good too. Seemed like everyone knew one another here. Felt like an old timey diner from 50+ years ago. The only negative is Friday and Saturday in Berlin are crowded and it's hard to find parking behind the building. Otherwise, A+. Definitely going back. read more

We were in the area for an event and needed to find a comfort food lunch spot and this place was always too crowded or closed any other visits to the area. We lucked out there was no line and sat right down, however still very busy inside we did sit there for awhile before greeted and even longer until we got our drinks. It is a popular spot by visitors and locals. The bread was warm and fresh and the peanut butter spread on the table was delicious (I regret not buying some). My daughter and I ordered the chicken dinners and my mom got hot roast beef sandwich. The portions were large. My mom and daughter thought the chicken didn't taste like chicken though.
