Noodles, Trail Bologna and Swiss Sandwich
    Jennifer F.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is super cute and seems clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's massive with tons of seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waitress was extremely slow so it took far too long for basic meals there. You can choose buffet or order off the menu. We chose menu. I got a bologna and Swiss sandwich on wheat with a side of noodles. The noodles were full of flavor. The Swiss is local from Guggisberg, which I appreciated. The bologna was thick and had great flavor. And the bread if homemade. So all in all, the quality is superb. I just felt like overall it was lacking. Needed some finesse, maybe some other topping offerings.

The food was very delicious. They had a plethora of food on the buffet. The salad bar was about as long as the food buffet. The waitress was Debra and very attentive and kept our drinks refilled. Kept checking on us and removing our dirty plates. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dinning area was large and broken into nice areas.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had quilts framed and hanging from the ceiling plus photos on the walls.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They had an area to purchase bake goods. I would recommend this place for your family.

Turkey Manhattan takeout (hot turkey sandwich, mashed potatoes, drenched in gravy) plus seasoned broccoli - messy and delicious!

I feel like there is something for everyone here! My husband thought the Dutch apple pie was out of this world. I thought it was different because it was chopped oats. We were not a huge fan of the chocolate chip cookies, the texture kinda got me, and the chocolate chips were an interesting flavor. My mom thought the pecan tarts were so yummy. I could literally taste how fresh and homemade that dough was, I thought it was very good as well, but probably would try something else instead next time. The cinnamon roll was interesting because I thought it was a lot more Joey than we used to and it had an icing on top. I actually really liked it. I am not someone that likes the super glazed sweet stuff so this was the right amount for me. My husband and I were not huge fans of the Fry pies. They were glazed, which is a personal preference. But the filling was just too much for me, I like more writing than filling, especially in the middle. It was a little overwhelming. I also felt like they were filled with more of the canned stuff rather than fresh bc of the consistency. The fresh sourdough bread was out of this world. I'd definitely recommend getting a bread loaf!!!

As soon as you walk through the door, you're greeted by the amazing smell of fresh bread and baked goods. Everywhere you look there's another display filled with pies, cookies, donuts, pastries, and homemade breads. If you have a sweet tooth, good luck leaving with just one thing! I couldn't resist picking up two of their huge fry pies along with a peanut butter Long John, and they were every bit as good as they looked. The fry pies were packed with filling and had a perfectly flaky crust, while the peanut butter Long John was loaded with creamy peanut butter filling and was incredibly fresh. My wife couldn't stop talking about their cinnamon twist. She said it was one of the best she's ever had--soft, buttery, perfectly sweet, and full of cinnamon flavor. I have a feeling we'll be making a special trip back just so she can get another one! The staff was friendly, the bakery was clean and well-stocked, and there were plenty of Amish-made jams, noodles, candies, cheeses, and other local products to browse while we were there. If you're visiting Millersburg, Berlin, or anywhere in Ohio's Amish Country, make sure Kauffman's Country Bakery is on your list. Everything like traditional cheddar and swiss to more unique options like veggie, and buffalo wing. Most of the cheese had samples. It was a perfect way to get a sense of the differences between some of the varieties (standard vs smoked vs aged for example). Most cheese could be purchased in blocks, slices and cubes. They also had some beef stick options, dips and cheese fudge. I had never heard of cheese fudge before so was very intrigued. It had a different texture and flavor than traditional fudge but was definitely worth trying. They also have traditional fudge on the other side of the store. There were workers behind the counter actively packing cheese and willing to answer any questions you might have. Much like other tourist attractions, you have to walk through the gift shop to get to the cash registers. The line was kind of long, but it moved fairly quickly. My friends really wanted to visit the Guggisberg cheese factory but they were closed for the day. This store offers not only cheese but other smaller grocery and household items such as butter, apple butter, mugs, t-shirts, etc. I don't like cheese so I didn't buy any cheese. My friends may have bought small cheese blocks but I can't remember. They did sample some cheese which they liked. MY PURCHASES -- I bought an Italian bread dipping mix which is a small tin of herbs. I finally tried the dip in April 2026 by adding olive oil the dipping bread in it. The spice mix is too strong so I don't like it that much and I don't believe it was made locally. I also bought Apple butter which is locally made and tastes good. The Apple butter is too sweet for me though so I've hardly eaten it but it goes well with toast. If you're in the area, stop by this local store. The back of the store is cute because of a little fountain and a well-kept lawn. **** GOAL of 250 reviews in 2026 - 87/250 total reviews in 2026 - 928 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 19 May 2026
