We came here for the buffet lunch, and were all happy with our meal. The buffet isn't particularly large, which is fine with me, but it was clean and stayed well stocked while we were there. I started with a salad from the salad bar, and was really happy that the lettuces, eggs, broccoli, everything, was chopped into really small pieces. I really like a well chopped salad, even if it's silly. For my hot dishes, I had the broasted chicken, mashed potatoes, noodles, and a couple of bits of other things. The chicken was really moist with nice skin, and I enjoyed the noodles over the potatoes with some gravy. They had a lot of chicken available, and the pieces were really generous. There was at least one beef dish, and I also saw macaroni and cheese, which is not my first choice, but is popular. The restaurant offers a discount on pie with the buffet, but none of us wanted any more food! Overall, a good experience, and everyone was happy when we left. read more

The place is super cute and seems clean. It's massive with tons of seating. Our waitress was extremely slow so it took far too long for basic meals there. You can choose buffet or order off the menu. We chose menu. I got a bologna and Swiss sandwich on wheat with a side of noodles. The noodles were full of flavor. The Swiss is local from Guggisberg, which I appreciated. The bologna was thick and had great flavor. And the bread if homemade. So all in all, the quality is superb. I just felt like overall it was lacking. Note! This is a rare review of takeout here! Not the buffet. It was the end of a long, difficult day of driving and I just wanted some comfort food in the privacy of my hotel room. You know the kind of day when you are so exhausted you don't have the emotional capacity to interact with the waitstaff in a restaurant and just want to collapse in a bed and catch up on sleep? Yeah. This place looked good and, honestly, there's not a ton of places around here where you can order ahead online given local customs. My expectations were low, but so far, so good: easy to order. The pickup process was great. They have a side station at the host stand for takeout, so you can skip around the buffet waiting line. Friendly people, order ready on time, quick pickup, tons of parking. I had the Turkey Manhattan, mixed white/dark meat, which is a hot turkey sandwich absolutely drenched in gravy, along with mashed potatoes, also drenched in gravy. Plus I ordered a side of seasoned broccoli to trick myself into thinking it was all healthy. It was exactly what I wanted. Not gourmet, not luxury, but definitely better than I expected from a high-volume buffet restaurant. Everything tasted good, everything above average quality, and just a bit salty. The food was very delicious. They had a plethora of food on the buffet. The salad bar was about as long as the food buffet. The waitress was Debra and very attentive and kept our drinks refilled. Kept checking on us and removing our dirty plates. The dinning area was large and broken into nice areas. They had quilts framed and hanging from the ceiling plus photos on the walls. Big line on a Thursday night. Big lobby though! Large staff is very attentive. Everything was great. Sat 7 at a big table. Buffet price was 19.50. Hot food was kept up good. Only the 1 kind of mashed potatoes seemed kinda old. Chicken is awesome. Meatballs were perfect. The bread pudding was surprisingly great & I hate bread pudding but tasted like cinnamon baked French toast. All cold salad items were good & the cake for dessert was fine. We have been there in the past few weeks. Once for the breakfast buffet and also the dinner buffet. Both times (and in the past) the restaurant is clean, the service is great, and the food is fresh. The servers are always friendly and quick to bring refills and ask how everything is. I don't agree with the negative reviews that some have given. I left the Berlin Farmstead feeling not only unfulfilled, but actually... offended! Their tag line is "Amish Kitchen Cooking." Hmmmm... I did not see a single item on the buffet nor menu that I could not find at Golden Corral. Must less anything resembling Amish cooking or food quality. What's the first sign that this isn't Amish cooking? There's no Amish people eating there! I have been to authentic Amish restaurants in other areas of Ohio, and they're chock full of real Amish eating there. Just look at their glorious family photo proudly posted at the entrance. As Amish as Al Yankovich, that lot is. I find that to be exploitation. Imagine an Italian, Mexican, Chinese, or other ethnic restaurant that's neither run nor patroned by that ethnic group. Oh yeah, even as an overpriced, tourist-trap buffet, it sucked. Golden Corral would have been better, and worth the drive. read more

Our first time in the area and we ate here for dinner.My wife got the turkey dinner and I did the buffet (hot buffet plus salad bar). Everything we had was terrific. The buffet was $18.99 and worth every penny (chicken, noodles, ham, pork, roast beef, 2 kinds of potatoes, corn, dressing, potato salad, mac and cheese, etc. etc.) We both left stuffed, so we got a couple pieces of pie to take home for later which were also great. I got the buffet which offered a number of items, roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, vegetables, stuffing, ham and roast beef. Food was fresh and warm but lacked any real flavor. Well, I've tried the buffet twice. The salad bar is magnificent! The pasta items are waaayyy overcooked and say way too long, so it was gummy. Both the beef and the chicken had been cooking so long, there was no moisture left in it. They compensate by serving in a gravy - but the meat was so dry, the gravy couldn't compensate. Mashed potatoes, corn, two kinds of gravy, fried chicken, meatballs, beef, ham and pineapple, sauerkraut and sausage - the list goes on. Just good stuff-your-face fun with a comfortable and casual interior. When I arrived there was a line into the breezeway, but within 5ish minutes I was seating, and within 6 I was making my first run through the buffet line. Your basic but one of the better amish buffets. Great broasted chicken and salad bar. I love the beets! They also have pot roast, ham, stuffed peppers, noodles, all the sides and what looked like sweet and sour meatballs. Are they an amish delicacy? I have no idea I stick to the chicken. They also give you those yeast rolls everyone loves free with your meal. I have never tried the dessert because I have usually consumed no fewer than 4 kinds of baked good through out the day by the time we eat dinner. I have to lower my review from previous visits. Due to COVID starting to spread again, we were reluctant to eat here because of the crowds. We arrived at 11:30 and it was fairly empty so we felt comfortable. We also decided that the buffet would be a bad idea, so we both settled on a hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes. Service was wonderful, and our coffee was filled several times and the food arrived in a timely manner. The sandwich is served on a thicker white bread, which is good, but there is so little turkey it was a joke. I had paid $2 more to have white meat only, but received the exact same meat as my husband. The turkey is shredded, and there was so little that you couldn't even have a bite of turkey with every forkful. Two sandwiches and two coffees came to $32. What a ripoff!!! read more

Despite my reluctance, I returned to the Farmstead for a lunch. It was conveniently located so I thought that I would give it one last try. Rather than order the buffet, I decided to go with the hot Turkey sandwich (figuring that the meal would be prepared fresh to order). The sandwich would have been great had there been a reasonable amount of Turkey. The bread is thick and fresh. The gravy and mashed potatoes are excellent. The Turkey is chopped/shredded, not sliced (as I would have expected and prefer). However, there was barely enough Turkey to be included in each bite. A restaurant such as this should not be skimping on meat, especially when the sandwich is priced at $12. This was absolutely my final visit to the Farmstead. read more

You have to try the dandelion gravy. I know, it sounds strange, but trust me. Even if you don't end up liking it (you will), you can say you've had dandelion gravy. It's only available around the time of the dandelion festival in the spring. So far, we've been lucky enough to try it twice!! Otherwise this location is just like all the other Der Dutchman locations. Yep that's right. This is a Der Dutchman with a different name. This is our new favorite spot to stop when visiting Amish Country. The delicious homemade Amish cooking is so yummy. We love getting the family style dinner. At suggestion of cousin came here for breakfast with the family. They are owned by same family as Der Dutchman so food was amazing. They have a buffet as well as menu items to select from. On a Saturday morning at 9am it was not busy at all which was surprising. They have donuts the size of your head! Server was a tad slow with drinks and orders but she was cheerful and attentive. I think she had a lot of tables. I think if people realized this is an exact replica of Der Dutchmen but under different name it will be busier. Def a place to check out! read more
