At suggestion of cousin came here for breakfast with the family. They are owned by same family as Der Dutchman so food was amazing. They have a buffet as well as menu items to select from. On a Saturday morning at 9am it was not busy at all which was surprising. They have donuts the size of your head! Server was a tad slow with drinks and orders but she was cheerful and attentive. I think she had a lot of tables. I think if people realized this is an exact replica of Der Dutchmen but under different name it will be busier. Def a place to check out! read more

It was very busy but really didn't take too long to get in. The atmosphere was very friendly. We had the sweetest waitress and service was excellent. Hubby & I walked over from our hotel to have an early dinner around 4:45. We were seated immediately & greeted by our friendly server for our drink order. Hubby ordered turkey & noodles over mashed potatoes with a side of green beans while I got the soup & salad bar. I ordered vegetable beef soup which was pretty good. The nice lady at the salad bar makes your salad & it's all farm fresh. She was heavy handed & loaded my salad plate way too much resulting in half of it being thrown out (sadly). I loved the pickled eggs on the bar & ate 2 of them. My hubby liked his dinner (homemade noodles, homemade mashed potatoes, farm fresh green beans - what's not to like?). He got a "to go" box because it was a generous serving that he couldn't finish. The fresh bread brought to our table was delicious & we ended up taking that with us also. I'm by no means an Amish country buffet connoisseur or buffet lover in general. Let's just say I was starving upon entering this place. The line was long to get in on a Saturday at 3:00. What I saw was basic comfort food on this buffet. Stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, noodles, Mac and cheese, sauerkraut, ham, roast beef, a salad bar, very basic and only like 2 desserts. Was is great? No. Was it alright? Yes. Would I desperately long to return there? No. They had some god awful glop that you put on rolls I guess. I was told it was heavenly, so I tried it. No, just no. It was sickening sweet. So I look at the ingredients. First on the list was corn syrup!! It's basically flavored corn syrup. Who does that? Then when we were paying the bill, I saw they had various flavors of this for sale. Lol, no. A keto person's nightmare in a bottle. read more

A great family friendly place to have lunch or dinner! There's a salad bar buffet or a salad and hot bar buffet. Salad bar is 11.99 and hot bar is 16.99! I did the salad bar with soup (extra dollar) and was delicious! Veggies were all fresh and plenty of side pastas and desserts. For soup, I got the chicken noodle soup and thought it was delicious! Seating space is generous and kid-friendly :) there is also a space to buy some baked goods! definitely hope to visit again someday! read more

Came to this place today, based on the reviews. Have to say, we were thoroughly disappointed. Wasn't crowded and buffet was the only option because of staffing, which was totally fine. We would have thought $88.00 for 4 people was reasonable had the food been edible. Both the fried and broasted chicken was extremely dry. Sauerkraut was bland. Stuffing was cold, rest of options were the same. The salad bar was very good, along with the fresh fruit. We've always had really good food on all our trips to Amish country. My wife, sister and brother in law and I all had the buffet there today. We came in at 3pm so we were thinking we're rolling the dice with getting hot and fresh food since we're between normal meal times. Not the case here. We were pleasantly surprised as all of the food was fully stocked, fresh and hot. The salad and fruit bar were also fresh and stocked with many different options, dressings and deserts. We didn't try everything but we had, salad, pasta salad, fruit salad, chicken, ham, potatoes, noodles, green beans, stuffing and dinner rolls and were all delicious. We had coffee after our meals as well and it was very smooth and delicious. Our waitress was Debbie. She is one of those people who enjoys her job as she was friendly, smiling and very accommodating. Our drinks were always full, our plates were cleared quickly and she could not of been more pleasant. It doesn't seem very often you can get good food AND exceptional service at the same place. My husband and I ate dinner there today and we both had the buffet. First, let's talk about the delicious rolls they bring to you, yum! The food was was delicious and the service was exceptional. Ms. Debbie was our waitress & she was very attentive & so nice. My favorite food was the roast beef and mashed potatoes. My husband loved the mashed potatoes & pan fried chicken. We brought out-of-state family here, and they accommodated our large group no problem. The hostess was very warm and friendly, despite how busy it was (the line was out the doors). The pre-meal rolls were huge and absolutely delicious, and my Strawberry Poppyseed Salad was THE best I've ever had in my life. Would go back just for that. Our server was very nice and very patient, as almost half of our party was children. it's kinda hard to review a restaurant for which you have not much to say positive or negative. the good: - service was great. i don't remember our server's name but he did a good job of keeping drinks filled, etc. - the pie. i got the pie sampler but had to take it home a few bites in because i went overboard eating from the buffet. what i ate there was really good and then i finished the pies (Dutch apple, coconut cream and raspberry cream) from home a couple nights later. all were really good (though there wasn't much raspberry in the raspberry cream pie). - the potato salad. i've never had potato salad like this. it was made with hashbrown cut potatoes and looked like shredded cheese. but it was the perfect density w/ no hard or undercooked pieces. i often avoid potato salad because so many chunks are undercooked but not here. i can't stop thinking about it. - the rolls and peanut butter spread. i've had better elsewhere but still, how can you go wrong w/ peanut butter spread? it's basically a fluffernutter in a squeeze bottle. This was our 2nd time here. We didn't have to wait for a table which was nice especially on a Saturday evening because, last time we were here we waited 45 minutes for a table on a Saturday evening. Our server was Sierra and she was very friendly and kept our drinks refilled. The food was very good! The salad bar was bigger than the place we ate at last night. There were lots of choices for our salads. The chicken and ham tasted good and were juicy not dry. The stuffing was excellent. The rolls were huge and very fresh. The roast beef was just ok. I don't know who would rate this low because it is very consistently excellent even though there is a little bit of a production environment feel to it. They handle large crowds and have "all you can eat" specials regularly, so the impersonal aspect of eating here is by necessity. What matters most, the food, is always great. We like the fish and get cod and salmon, which are about five dollar cheaper than anywhere else in town. The salad bar can be substituted for one of the two side dishes, that you get to choose with your entree, for only another $1.79 extra, which is highly recommended. The food is as fresh and wholesome as it gets and the baked sweet potato is absolutely excellent with the special sauce that comes with it. Try it! read more

We stopped in knowing full well this was part of the Der Dutchman chain, but in need of that kind of food. Sweetie had a tooth pulled and needed stuff like mashed potatoes, so this was a simple choice. In general she isn't a big fan of Der Dutchman, and I'd prefer a more local and authentic choice, of which there are several in the area. Oh, well. It's... Der Dutchman. Same decor, same food, same buffet, same service. None of which are awful, but it's just very... bland. She was able to eat, I found some good stuff, and we were recharged for the rest of our day in Amish country. I had, let's see... fried chicken: very good. Chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes: reminds me of Grandmother's, though not as good. Corn: overcooked. Stuffing: pretty good. Salad: fresh, tasty, with lots of interesting salads and desserts. Sooo silly me didnt get any pictures. So amish country is by far a must when visiting and we went here and waited in line that was out the door with a party of like 15 for 20 plus minutes. They have a to die for menu or offer buffet. The food is simple....delicious...made from scratch with love. The noodles are plain and simple but delicious and loved the fried chicken. Two of our party ordered the chicken salad sandwich and pie! The pies alone are worth going for. It is definately a cafeteria style feel in this gigantic building that was full! Our server was delightful and managed to keep all our glasses filled and when I mean huge place.....I am taking think of a giant barn style building with high ceilings and probably sat what 30p plus people and being able to keep up with tables...just sayin. This was by far the worst food I have had in 10 years. Every single item was absolutely tasteless, from the mushy flavorless noodles, to the mashed potatoes that tasted less than instant. Nothing had any seasonings, not even the stuffing. The chicken was just ok, but not great. Drink was not included, almost $3.00 for $.50 worth of soda and never got a refill. The desserts were made from cheap ingredients, not made with real butter and tasted worse than frozen grocery store desserts. We will never go back. (I am not a big fan of buffets.) My kiddos had the macaroni and cheese and Amish noodles. I opted to try the Rueben and my hubby got the huge burger (sorry I can't remember the name) but it came on a pretzel bun and had an onion ring on it with bacon. (How can you go wrong with that.) We were in an Amish area and we thought we should eat at an Amish restaurant. This is the one that was recommended to is. It is a beautiful building and it's very clean. My husband ordered the buffet which is what they are known for. I ordered off of the menu. I was very disappointed with my food. I ordered turkey, stuffing, and cream corn. The turkey was so salty that I could only eat a few bites. The stuffing was bland. I only ate a few bites of that. The cream corn was good so I ate that. I told my server the issues with my dinner. He came to take my plate and it was 90% still covered in food. I thought he might offer me something else or to take the meal off of my bill but he didn't. My mother and I have been frequenting this place over the past few years and have always enjoyed it, however the last few times we've gone have left something to be desired. The last couple of times I chalked up to flukes because we ended up waiting twenty minutes for a server to even visit our table once seated, then another hour plus for food. It was quite stressful both times. This recent visit proved that it's merely the establishment that has lost its ability to time manage. If it's even remotely busy, unless you order the buffet, you will be waiting close to an hour for your food, no matter what you order. Mom and I anticipated this and ordered what was thought would be simple - a trail and swiss sandwich for me (which I specified be served cold), and Mom got a bowl of soup with a piece of pie. It still took almost an hour and it wasn't even that busy (after 1pm). Then when our food finally arrived, my sandwich was brought hot, so I had to send it back (hot trail bologna tastes disgusting to me) and wait another five minutes for the correct one. It was upsetting for both of us to have to wait so long for extremely simple meals. That $8 slab of trail bologna with a slice of cheese on it in a bun was NOT worth an hour's wait. My husband and I stopped in and had dinner on Wednesday - WORST place we could have chosen for dinner. We have one here locally (Bellville) that is in the same corporate as this place but this was down right nasty. We both chose the buffett - first we had salad - that was very good, everything was fresh. THEN we moved on to the main course. The broasted chicken looked (and tasted) as if it had been sitting there all day - it was sooo dry :( The pan fried chicken was sitting in grease and/or juices but it had a strange taste (again - was it there all day?) The mashed potatoes and browned butter were the consistency of instant and the taste of instant - the only thing I found edible on the main portion was the creamed corn. Ohhh and let's end with the dessert part - tapioca that looked as if it had been there from the morning as were the other "pudding type" desserts. I grabbed one cookie, not sure of what it was - ended up having M&M's inside - that was dry. The oatmeal raisin were a tad dry by edible. We ended up going here because the smaller places on the main street had lines that stretched into the sidewalks. I'd pretty much given up on getting something interesting, and went for the big barn restaurant instead. The Farmstead had plenty of parking (not something easy to find on the main drag), and we were really, really hungry. I knew I was walking into a tourist joint, so I wasn't expecting any sort of an "Amish experience" in any way whatsoever. The wait to get in was about 30-minutes, which I didn't feel was too bad on a Columbus Day weekend at 1 PM. Our server was extraordinarily nice and cheerful. While watching the other servers, I could see that the helpful attitude was pretty common. I got up to take a look at the buffet, and decided it was pretty lame. I took a pass on it and went for the menu instead. My wife went right for the buffet. The menu was pretty much what I'd expected out of a place like this, and I chose the smoked sausage with sides of stuffing and mashed potato. While my wife was fine with her buffet meal, what I tasted off her plate really didn't thrill me. The sausage was nice and smokey with two large links. I was completely satisfied with my meal. It looked like most people in the place were going for the buffet, but my plate turned out to be better than the somewhat low expectations I had going in. I'm sure that if I'd gone to the buffet there'd be one less star above. Skip the buffet. Use the menu. Then skip the extremely touristy town and enjoy the surrounding countryside. read more
