Atmosphere: Walking into the restaurant, the woman at the counter was a little less than friendly and just acted like she hated her job. When getting our first plates of food, I think we set at least 5 plates to the side before we found clean ones to use. One thing to take BIG note of is that MAYBE 25% of the food, sauces and condiments are labeled. It is a guessing game what you are getting. Aside from that, our table was clean, and our waitress was very nice. One thing that you MUST BE AWARE OF if you come to eat here, you can only tip with cash. Unless you go back up to the front counter to the woman who hates her job and ask for cash off of your card, you and your waitress/waiter are out of luck. We literally had to zelle our waitress her tip because we felt so bad and I better there are many times a day that customer just simply don't tip at all because "if they wanted us to tip then they should have made that possible on our card". Very few people are going to want to walk back up to Hate-My-Job Jessica and go through the hassle of getting cash back on their card. That is something that they really need to figure out. Food: We tried the following foods: -Tortilla chips with ground taco meat and cheese sauce: With the looks of the cheese sauce, I thought it was going to be very bad, but it was actually the item I ate the most of. Albeit hard to screw up nachos, we still very much enjoyed them. -Spinach artichoke dip: We were excited to try this because it looked fresh, hot and creamy. We were mistaken. This was FOWL. We rarely get something so bad we have to spit into a napkin, but this was absolutely one of those times. It had absolutely zero flavor. -Chicken Tenders: The chicken tenders were good. But hands down the best thing I had at dinner that night was the orange sauce you see on the plate (It was definitely some type of buffalo sauce but of course it wasn't labeled). -Popcorn shrimp: The popcorn shrimp was good. But was sucked about it was that the cocktail sauce is all the way on the other side of the buffet and there is no sign to tell you that. Obviously, it is kept where the cold condiments are, but I had to ask where it was and that was a guessing/smelling game as well since nothing is labeled. -Tamale: Disgusting. Period. -Meatloaf: My partner said the meatloaf was your average run of mill meatloaf but was good. -Green beans and mashed potatoes: Good -Lemon Custard Cake?: It wasn't labeled, and we thought it was cheesecake from the looks. Good thing we didn't put chocolate sauce... -Banana Pudding: Good. Your average banana pudding. If we were down on our luck and needed a cheap way to get a full stomach, we would try it again. Stopped for lunch on a Wednesday. Many of the food trays were empty. The dessert bar had ice cream and a frozen cherry pie everything else was gone. Talked to the manager and just got excuses. Take you chance if the will have food or not. read more

Came for New Years. Paid extra for a Holiday Buffet. Food was terrible and obviously had not been refreshed in a long time. Bathrooms were in terrible shape. No steak available. Went in this evening for dinner my fiance and I. Right when we got asked our beverages the elder waitress who appeared to be a runner/server had asked the counter ladies if they wanted coke or gave them the approval for a drink that was specifically coke. You can infer the direction im going with for that. I had requested a togo beverage and she said they normally do not do togos but would provide a beverage in what was clearly a to go cup. I stated the brand name Is Like a Coca-Cola. God bless this place as I know a lot of elderly and military do frequent. The food was delicious and filled us up. Food was excellent, but our waitress was horrible. We asked about the rolls, as directed, to receive none. The drinks weren't refilled at all & she didn't even introduce herself. Here's the thing, it's a buffet, you are not going to get 5 star service, and you aren't going to have perfectly tailored food to your liking, it's just that simple. All of these one star reviews are unwarranted for what it is. Lunch is my favorite at golden corral, for $9.95 I get a salad, loaded baked potato and small dessert, you can't really get that anywhere for the price, not even a drive through, most salads are now $12-17, so to me, it's a great deal. Dinner is always hit or miss, I feel if you go on a not peak time (right when they open, or after the dinner rush) you will have better luck, there is a lady who has worked here for years, she keeps up with refills and always clears the plates so you aren't sitting with dirties. My only complaint is during dinnertime especially there are ALWAYS kids unattended at the buffet, also running through the restaurant, we were here on Saturday 09/10 and witnessed kids picking up food and putting it back into the containers on the buffet, and running back and forth from the dessert bar to the buffet knocking over someones cane and almost tripping them, several tables complained and the waitress said they aren't allowed to say anything about it...there should be a policy that if you can't keep your kids under control or accompany them to the buffet you have to leave. read more

I was there yesterday for lunch. While I was having my meal I heard a commotion at the buffet. There was a man that was angry because he had been standing there to get a steak and I guess the employees were just standing there talking and not paying attention to customers and they were waiting a long time. The manager pretty much dismissed him and told him to have a good day. She was pretty rude about the situation as well. Then as I was starting to eat my desert the family in front of me were talking and looking at a photo of a football player next to their table. The mom got her phone out and was trying to snap a Pic me thinking the photo must have been someone really famous looked at it. It wasn't the Pic they were looking at, there was a roach crawling on the photo... Their daughter was freaking out. Needless to say I left my desert and left. I did leave a tip tho as the wait staff were really kind and attentive to the tables. It's a shame, I have been having lunch there for a couple weeks and now that I know they have roaches, I will not be back and am so upset that I ever ate there.... Me and my daughter and grand baby went to this place. The food was horrible and I mean almost all of it. It had no taste. The shrimp and chicken was burned and still sat out. The greens dumped out of can. I asked for medium rare steak It was rare. I felt as though I had been robbed of 40$ I ended up leaving this place still hungry. Worst buffet ever! My family and some friends came here as a thank you for helping them move. It was impossible to get plates so you could actually get food. I was attempting to get at least something that was good (I'm a picky eater). People were basically humping up on me while i was trying to look. They barely had food out and the food they did have out was undercooked and gross. This place is terrible. We thought the food was going to be good and enjoyable but that wasn't the case. All of the chicken tasted and smelled like charcoal. The only chicken that was okay was the spicy chicken tenders. One of my pieces of chicken had hair that was actually in it. I went to pull it off but the chickens skin was moving with it. When we told the waitress the chicken tasted like charcoal she said she knew. Not to mention there was almost no place to sit. We paid and were set off on our own to find a table. We walked back and forth trying to find a place but then had to ask to get a second table cleaned. We eneded up pushing 2 tables together for the 6 of us. We paid $130 for disgusting food. We tried to get a refund for the gross food, but the manager argued we had been here for over an hour so couldn't get a refund. After lots of arguing we finally got it. I've eaten at this location in the past and it was pretty good. We tried it again last night, and it was really bad. Every single fried item (onion rings, hush puppies, chicken, okra, shrimp) tasted like melted plastic. Everything else was room temperature. I'm not a picky person, I'd eat just about anything if it got me out of having to cook dinner. And my husband eats MY cooking, so... Still, we couldn't get past the plastic taste. Also, what's up with all of the other diners looking alike? They all had the same strange face. It was so weird. I felt like we were on a different planet. The nephew picked this for his birthday dinner. I regret everything. In seriousness, the food wasn't terrible. The salad bar was surprisingly fresh. The fried chicken was good, as was the brisket. The mashed potatoes weren't great, but the green beans were redeeming. The place was a hot mess on toast though. Things needed to be cleaned up, the dessert area was severely understocked [and had multiple employees slicing red velvet cake, of which there was plenty already out, while there almost everything else was depleted -- weird]. Clientele was fascinating, particularly the woman sitting next to us threatening to "whoop" her one year old daughter for not eating and the youth sports team of some sort making goat noises nearby. After not being able to visit this restaurant for months on end my wife and I decided to try their lunch menu. Bad move,the fried chicken was not cooked properly.I took my fork and peeled back some meat to eat only to see 'PINK' bloody chicken.I called to the waitress and told her " Honey there's no such thing as 'medium rare chicken". After a much consideration on where to go for Easter brunch, we chose Golden Corral for the close location and the reasonable price, considering neither one of us could eat a whole lot. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about my experience here. Their food was delicious. Big gleaming whole hams, trays full of bacon, plates of many sausages, hot and steamy! We had a very nice selection of quite a few things and 99% of it was perfect. Of course we got there when they first opened and everything was very fresh. Our waitress/ server was in a good mood, she was smiling, and she actually acted like she wanted to make sure we had a good meal and a good experience. I left so full I couldn't eat until late that night. But judging by so many negative reviews I think going when the food is fresh makes a big difference. And the fact that it was a holiday everyone was in a good mood and maybe trying a little harder than usual. It's give and take each time. Depending what section depends if the refills are fast or if you have to hunt your server down. The food for the most part is always good. Today we went to two restaurants for breakfast,they were booked and 25 to 30 minute wait so we went to Golden Coral. It wasn't busy so I had my wife check out the buffet first, looked great. I haven't been there in several years. The food was great, served steaks made to order and it was excellent. I don't know what they are doing wrong as there should have been a long wait based on the food and service. I felt sorry for the people waiting in line at the other restaurants.
