East Long Beach Pool and Spa was dispatched to our home by Pentair to make a warranty repair, and my review is solely about their service in regard to repair as a Pentair-assigned service company. I cannot speak to their pool service/cleaning, equipment design, or equipment installation which appear to be the majority of the positive reviews here. In respect to our Pentair warranty claim for repairs to our pumps and controller, we found East Long Beach Pool to be unprofessional with inadequate knowledge to identify or fix the problem, missed appointment, poor communication, delays responding, and overall bad customer service. We wonder if the bad service and low priority we experienced with them were because it was warranty work, which is frequently at discounted labor rates? Moreover, one of the service reps we spoke to made disparaging remarks about Pentair, which is the company for which they provide service. We found that unprofessional and off-putting. We finally asked Pentair to reassign the warranty claim to another company. With warranties, remember that customers do have choices about which company services the claim. We would not use East Long Beach Pool and Spa for Pentair product service because they were not able to either understand or fix the problem, and to us it appeared they make warranty service a low priority. Or is it possible that all customers get poor repair service from this company, warranty or not? We don't know, but when we spoke directly to Pentair to have the claim finally reassigned, we did learn directly from Pentair that part(s) were in stock (not backordered) and had been shipped quickly and more importantly received by East Long Beach Pool, so we know that parts availability or shipping were not part of their problem. I don't know if, given enough time, they would have finally been able to figure out the problem and fix it, but after many weeks of disappointing service we are glad that we made the decision to have our claim reassigned to another company. Perhaps warranty technical expertise and service is not East Long Beach Pool's niche? I prefer to leave positive Yelp reviews, but pools and equipment are expensive, and homeowners deserve expert repair under warranty. UPDATE: The actual problem was promptly and correctly identified by another company to which Pentair reassigned the claim, and fixed within 10 minutes of arriving! It was just a corroded wire to the little wireless receiver - simple fast fix, no parts were ever even needed. read more

All I wanted was to get a gasket for my pump. I called SCP which is wholesale only. They told me to call East Long Beach Pool Supply since they had an account with them and they could arrange for a will call if I paid for it at East Long Beach Pool. Obviously knowing they have a mark up they need to get I was referred to them by the wholesaler. He kept trying to remind me he was not SCP I guess he thought I was deaf. Thank God it was Saturday and my wife was with me. Somethings just aren't worth it. Your self a favor this place is an absolute freaking joke. The worst customer service anyone can have. I bought a above ground pool here. Less than 45 days ago. I'm having problems with the break down of the pool. I made contact with this company and they say their return period is 15 days. There is nothing they can do for me. I became frustrated. I requested some kind of assistance. I recieved nothing. After contacting the manufacturer I realized I needed my receipt. I purchased with a credit card so I contacted the pool supply to request my receipt. The woman stated they do not have the receipt in question. This is the worst display of business ownership. What kind of policy is 15 day return. The pool is not able to be disassembled. The horizontal beams have glued themselves to the liner. But these folks dont care. I will never shop here again. Poor customer service. read more

I normally do not write reviews, but I have taken the time to do on this one. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. We spent over $150K on our entire backyard with Eric Poling. At first they were great, very customer service oriented. Once our pool/backyard was completed we had problems with our stones falling off of our walls into the pool so many times I can't even count anymore. We had issues with our spa light and the lighting in general for all the lights in the pool. Excuses on the issues are in the panel, etc. We even hired an electrician outside of Eric just to see what the issues were. They couldn't figure it out. Come to find out the zodiac lights used in our pool are no longer around. Eric was supposed to get them replaced and it has literally been over 3 years!!! We have had issues with our pool cover because they told us they did a horrible job at putting up the stone on the walls and kept catching on the cover. We had to have them come out and fix the track so many times. I finally had to threaten Eric that I would write a horrible review on his business if he didn't get my lights replaced. He FINALLY got back to me and had Zan come out and measure for them to be replaced. Zan actually had attitude with me as if he was bothered by this whole situation. I think after 3+ years and my pool lights are still not working, I have every right to be upset and I should have the attitude, not them. I've been pretty respectful on how often I reached out to them for my lights. The last contact was when Zan came out on January 13, 2021. How long does it take to order the lights? It's now April and still nothing, and they are completely ignoring me again. Good thing I have kept a log of all of my issues along with pictures and emails/texts from them. Unfortunately I have to resort to legal action now. I have also come across many people who have had issues with them and just don't take the time to write a yelp review. Ever time I came in I said hi to Al and then it depended on how he was feeling. Today, I stopped by to this store and taught I would ask for some help with my pool. As I entered, I tried to say hi to Al, but he did not respond? So his associate responded for him "how can I help you"? When I described my issue, he said this looks like something Leslie pool supplies can handle. As I was living the store, I could not help and notice the person laughing as if he got rid of the issue. The Michael Unit has always bought the chlorine for our pool at Lowes because, well, it's convenient. He needed some special part for the pool filter and I suggested that he try East Long Beach Pool. Now he buys all the chlorine from them. I like the fact that they're a small, local Long Beach business. Their competitor moved into the strip mall that occupies Pavilions and must be within 1,000 feet. Did I mention that I hate their competitor? No amount of seductive coupons will ever get me into their store again. Back to East LB Pool... the employees are knowledgeable about pools and the water quality in the LBC. They don't try to upsell you more expensive parts than you need. Unfortunately during our most recent trip they were out of a replacement part for our Kreepy Krawler, hence the four star rating. Zan came out and did troubleshooting on why my spa heater kept tripping out. He was able to trace it to the thermo regulator and replaced it under warranty. While waiting make sure the heater was working properly he checked my pool chemistry and gave me advice on how to ensure the regulator is maintained in the future...not only good service but personable. read more

I first heard of ELB Pools on NextDoor - they came highly recommended by several neighbors so I reached out for an estimate. After scheduling our initial appointment, Zan came out to meet with us, take measurements & photos of our yard & give us a brief explanation of what to expect. Zan asked us what we envisioned for our backyard & what type of design we liked. We wanted a geometric design with plenty of grass. A few days later, we were invited to meet with Eric (owner) & Zan in their office to see the CAD drawings they did on their big screen TV. Seeing the pool in our own back yard was a big selling point for us. We got to see exactly what it was going to look like, how the sun moved throughout the day (shading) and what the pool looked like at night with the lighting. We played around with placement of steps, location of jacuzzi (raised or not) and the size of the baja shelf until we were satisfied. Before hiring Eric & his team, we visited two neighborhood pools that had been built by them. Both raved about how wonderful Eric, Zan & the rest of the crew were. Both said budget & schedule were adhered to & how happy they were with their pools. We hired ELB Pools to build a 15x30 saltwater pool with a 7x7 jacuzzi & construction began shortly thereafter. We were given an 8-10 week timeline from start to finish. Excavation took place on 5/20. We had water on 7/24. Eric, Zan & the entire team were AMAZING!! Everyone was super personable, my backyard was kept cleaner than I expected & we couldn't be happier with the finished product. Eric was here every day, usually in the mornings just to check in with me & the crew but sometimes (on big days) he would stay for a bit or check in multiple times. If I had questions, he was super responsive. Eric always gave me a heads up when big noisy days (like excavation & shotcrete) were approaching so I could be aware and give my neighbors a heads up to expect noise & work trucks. Throughout the process I had 2 neighbors comment how quickly everything was going & how clean the workers were keeping everything. Eric & crew were on budget & on time! We're coming up to a year with our pool (this review is way overdue but hey....we've been swimming in our amazing pool ) and we couldn't be happier. Building a pool is a huge decision. It's a big investment & construction usually isn't fun. Eric & his team made the process quick & painless (& actually fun!). Eric & Zan are such nice people - which after doing a construction project or two is important to me. I want to be comfortable with the people I'm working with. 2 years ago we signed a contract with Eric to have our pool installed. He showed a pool rail in all the photos. When the pool was installed he didn't put in the rail. When we asked him about it he said that he would install one. A year after the signing he hadn't put in the rail and he hadn't had the pool signed off by the inspector. I had to remind and remind him. It has been 2 years and we still don't have a pool rail. I found that Eric did a good job on the pool, but he isn't good with follow up. He promises and promises and doesn't follow through. Then he finds excuses for why he hasn't returned calls or back up his promises. I would have given him a good rating for what he has done, but the whole experience has left a very bad taste in my mouth. If I were to do it all over again I'd chose someone else to install my pool. read more

I have an above ground pool (my first big pool) well it started out great (I followed their instructions) now I let the chlorine go low and it ended up yellow and green. It's almost fully clear now and it's been by following their instructions.... Levels have been great now and their very helpful when I have been there. We recently bought a home that came with a spa, complete with a testing kit, but no legible instructions. Having no previous experience with owning a spa, I stopped by the nearby East Long Beach Pool & Spa with my test kit & a sample of my spa's water. The young man behind the counter seemed extremely knowledgeable, and could not have been more helpful, showing me how to use the test kit, and telling me exactly how much of which chemical I needed to put in, based on my sample. He also offered advice on cleaning, how often to empty the spa, etc. Then he gave me a larger empty bottle, and said they had other tests they could perform with a bigger sample. All for no charge. First time going there while shopping for a new pool pump. From the moment we entered we were greeted and were helped with friendly and knowledgeable service. Gave us a good feeling about spending a lot of money on pool equipment. We continued to shop around and price things out but it came back to customer service and the experience we had. The prices were similar to other places and Leslie's even gave a longer warranty but because of the customer experience we ended up going to ELB Pool & Spa. Zan was very knowledgeable and helpful and he was even the one who came out to install the pump just days later. He was on time, friendly, fast, and showed us how to use the pump properly. Don't hate me...I own a pool. And I use it, a lot. In fact, I swim about 10 months out of the year. When I bought the house in 1994, I swore I would make good use of the pool. And so I have. Pools, like everything in life, require maintenance. I'd been doing a good job up to the time the DE filter lid cracked and water was pouring from it like an upside-down Niagara Falls. I needed help. The patch job I did sucked, literally. So I called these "experts" from the OC (Morning Star Solar) who saw a gal in trouble and tried to scam me. I was onto their tricks though, and sent my dog after them. Grrr. So I went over to East LB pool and got a bid for $1000 LESS than the OC scammers. And they could do the job THAT DAY! Yaaaay! Edgar arrived in the afternoon and had my pool filter installed and operating in a little over an hour. I swam that night. I later got a call from the company who told me Edgar had left the wrong receipt and asked if I could drop it off in the morning. Since I'd have to drive a few miles to do this, I asked if they'd give me a replacement foot-pad for my Kreepy-Krawly and they did ($20). So I got excellent service at a very good price and a free pad for my Kreepy. If you're lucky enough to have a pool, congratulations. Use it. And try East LB Pool & Spa for your service needs. They are down-home and friendly and won't use scam techniques for a few extra dollars. read more
