Would be 5 stars if there was a reservation system outside of calling, which leads to having to wait if it's busy. When I first moved to Seattle and my hair had grown to beyond respectable, I needed a barber and thought, "I am going to be so screwed dealing with a barber that is NOT going to make me happy about moving here". Unfortunately, I never asked any of the security guards at work for barber recommendations (they all had lots of hair anyway) so I searched around on Google for "black barbershop". I found Earl's, took the bus over, saw your typical modern black barbershop, and thought ... "This could be what I want." It's next door to a liquor store and so that just gave it even more points to me in letting me know I'd be getting a fantastic haircut. I go in, there are people waiting, and I get a haircut from Black. He asks me what I want, I tell him, he asks your standard questions when you tell a new black barber that you want a fade. Walk-in, $20, was in and out, and they did a great job. I wasn't in the mood for chit chat (generally not when I am getting my hairs did) but they were friendly. I went here once before I got my hair cut and it was coo but I went last week with my wife and kids the first problem I had was there was people not even getting a hair cut taking the seats one lady act like she didnt want to move her purse so my kids can sit down second I'm business minded so when you enter a business you should greet some one when they walk in which they didnt and only looked at me like I didnt belong and then the business says walk ins to but told me to come back tomorrow. Earl's is the spot for a fresh line up and dope cut. It can get crowded, but you will come out lookin nice! 20 for a cut 7 for a line up.

The fades are on point and the staff is friendly and professional. There were movies and lively conversation and the entire atmosphere was a great place to be in. Only two minor complaints, the wait times are sometimes incredibly long with no way to know when you may or may not be seen and the fact that it's cash only made me have to go next store to the pot shop to get some cash for the transaction. Although this barbershop is one of the best I've been too it lacks respect for customers and their time especially if you are trying to get an early cut. The website along with the time listed on Yelp is 7AM but the barbershop actually opens a minimum of an hour after. Fix the schedule and I'm sure all of your time related issues will disperse. This is the worse barbershop ever! It's listed as open at 7 am to 7 pm , I tried to take my son last week to get his hair cut and no one was there at 7 am. I left and came back around 8:30 still no one was there. How do you have a business and it states the times you are open but actually NO ONE is there? We have only been here twice and we drive from Bellevue, we only let Chris cut our kids hair. We have not been disappointed if you are looking for someone to serve you tea and crumpets go somewhere else this is simply what it is A BARBERSHOP! The cut for our little guy was $15 which to some may be too much but all honestly is what you will pay here in Bellevue or other Tacoma/Seattle locations. Chris is good about giving you his number to call for an appointment or check if it is a long wait. This place is not fancy, not catering just a shop to come in get your cut, line up and be out. My older boys prefer Standing on Top in Bellevue which is a much "classier" ambience but we like to bring our younger boys to earls as they have been the only ones to not mess their hair up. I don't mind it's location and think Earl is a nice guy. Nothing exciting but gets the job done. read more

I love Earl and his crew. They do a fantastic job on my hair, they're convenient, and they're one of the cheapest places in town. I've been here a bunch and it's always a great place to have good conversation while getting your hair cut. The only reason I can't give five stars is because of the hours. On google, they're listed as opening at 8am, on here and their website it's 7am. The past few times I've gone, they've shown up more like 10am. I can make it work because I live nearby, and I don't care what time they open, I just wish it would be consistent. The inconsistency is really hard if you're trying to plan your day. And as the day goes on, the wait can get reeeeeally long, so that's why I try to get in early in the morning. read more

Every time i ask for a certain haircut and show them the picture so they can see i still don't get what i want. The last time i was in there, i asked for a low shadow taper and told him not to touch the growth on my sides because i'm trynna get dreads this nigga took off the sides and gave me a jimmy butler looking fade... this dude also destroyed my fucking hairline trying to shape up my hair and shit. earl is awesome. After a surgery when I lost a lot of hair, it grew are back in straight as a dead bone, extremely thin, wouldn't grow except for straggly ends and was a dull mousey gray.
