Walking in, I was greeted by Tony, who was quite friendly and gave me a solid haircut. The place was decorated quite nicely, and overall the place was small, but cozy. My main issue was the fact that the prices here were completely misleading! On Google, there was a sign which said that regular cuts were $20, a sign which I saw still posted on the inside of the shop. I would've thought that I could depend on the signs on the wall of the store to be accurate and that I didn't have to confirm the price of the haircut, but apparently I should have since I was charged over twice as much, a total of $43 for a quick 20 minute shape up of the sides of my head which I could've gotten literally anywhere. Nothing fancy, no scissors needed, 43 bucks for a quick buzz and fade of not even my entire head. I most definitely will not be coming back here. While not advertising the prices is one thing, completely misleading the customer on pricing is absolutely not acceptable.

I've only trusted two barbers over the past 10 years, so my standards are high, and EZ has exceeded them across the board. If you're looking for precision, consistency, and real craftsmanship, you can expect the same level of excellence. Beyond his technical skill, EZ is a true professional who genuinely cares about his clients and the business. I've seen him deliver exceptional cuts while simultaneously managing the shop, leading by example, and training other barbers--without ever sacrificing quality or attention to detail. I've now followed EZ to this shop since his partnership, and the experience here has been just as impressive. The culture is friendly, the environment is welcoming, and the energy is professional yet relaxed. Whether you're searching for a new go-to barber or just walking in, this is absolutely the place to go.

I count myself lucky to be a client of Bryan's and have a great shop to go to. But it also speaks to the lackluster quality of similarly priced barbershops out there. I've been getting haircuts from Bryan before he opened Assembly and I followed him there. The other barbers seem great and I got a haircut from Nate one time at the shop he and Bryan used to be at when Bryan had to call out and the quality remained the same as did what I was looking for in a haircut. I love the design and vibe of the shop. The products they use are simple but high quality. The equipment they use seems high quality. All that said, if you're looking for a high quality haircut l, I can't think of a better place to go.

My would be barber was still with another client and told me I was "a little early," even though I arrived 10 minutes before my scheduled appointment. He then admitted he was behind after being told he now had two clients waiting for him at the same time, and tried to hand me off to someone else who actually wasn't available. After that, no apology, no estimate, no plan--just awkward silence. I canceled. I'm sure they do great work, but the communication and concern could have been greatly improved.

It's come to this: the Colman Building Barbershop is the only place I'll get my hair cut anymore…read more I've had cheap haircuts and I've had expensive ones. Robby's shop falls somewhere in the middle, price-wise, but his work and his partner Madison's are consistently at the top of the list when I get out of the chair and get a look at what they've done. There's never that awkward "oh no, what am I going to do with this?" moment when you see it for the first time. Simply put, their cuts look fabulous, every time. As experiences go, the Colman Barbershop is fun and relaxing. You can go expecting funny adult conversation with a racy edge to it, classic rock on the stereo, a comfortable old-school barbershop chair to sit in, and a phone that rings like a phone, not an electronic tweet. Robby and Madison not only deliver a great cut, they have genuine fun chatting with you and with each other while you're there. And men? Go with the knowledge that you're not quite done when your hair is done. You've got a rare treat in store before you're all the way finished, a back-of-the-neck shave with warm shaving cream and a straight razor, followed up with a warm wet towel. It's a delight for the senses not to be missed, and it feels fantastic afterwards. So. It comes to this: get thee to the Colman Building Barbershop for 45 minutes of entertaining downtime, for good music, for a little nostalgia, and most importantly, for the best haircut you'll ever have.
