I'm so grateful this shop exists because sadly I have yet to find a barber as good as Bryan or a shop as good as this one anywhere worldwide where I've gotten haircuts. I count myself lucky to be a client of Bryan's and have a great shop to go to. But it also speaks to the lackluster quality of similarly priced barbershops out there. I've been getting haircuts from Bryan before he opened Assembly and I followed him there. The other barbers seem great and I got a haircut from Nate one time at the shop he and Bryan used to be at when Bryan had to call out and the quality remained the same as did what I was looking for in a haircut. I love the design and vibe of the shop. The products they use are simple but high quality. The equipment they use seems high quality. I get my haircut once a week and moved close I was hoping I did not have to take a bus to cap hill. For the past 6 years, I've had the absolute pleasure of getting my haircuts from Bryan. I was ecstatic when he mentioned he was opening up his own shop, and I swear by him and the guys at Assembly. It's not just about the haircuts either, which are top notch, you won't find better in Seattle. It's the atmosphere as well. All the guys are genuine and welcoming, creating an environment that feels more like a community than a service. On the couple of occasions where Bryan wasn't available, I've had my haircut by Calvin. His attention to detail and the final result were excellent. I think that speaks volume to the standards they hold themselves to. Ngl I got fucked up here. Showed a picture and did not get at all what I asked for. Asked for a low taper fade w/ a fringe and calvin brought that shit up SO high. Fringe was requested at eye level, it didn't even make it to my eyebrows. This barber shop is not somewhere you go for a stylish cut. It's a shop for very simple, run of the mill hairstyles. Disappointed that the $60 price tag was met with such a mediocre haircut. Will not be coming back ever. UPDATE: got threatened to fight over a bad review. Please avoid Calvin at all costs. Assembly is simply the best barbershop in Seattle, hands down. Andrew has been my barber at Assembly since they first opened and I go every two weeks. The cut always looks great and Andrew is really efficient. Andrew does a great fade. And he always finished it up with a straight razor at the bottom and then a hot steamy towel. It's a truly top notch cut and phenomenal service/experience. The shop has a great vibe. It feels like you stepped into a classic barbershop to hangout with friends. Superior Seattle barber experience!! Bryan saved my hair from a disaster chop at a different shop and turned it around all by doing a great job and being very friendly in the process. Not once did I feel rushed with anything, he even made a few suggestions to make the experience better by customizing the look. I did not have to ask for any adjustments or changes, it was spot on. The other very important factor is how clean the shop is! No hair just laying around the counters or floors. Clean combs, clean capes, and neck strips. Nobody busted out clippers with old hair stuck in them. This made it all the better. Aside from a fresh cut with clean tools, the spot is incredible. this is my go to barbershop. I'm a buzz cut kinda guy, so I can't speak to how well the barbers do with complicated haircuts. what I can speak to is the level of detail all the barbers (in 4 or so visits, I've had at least 3 different barbers) commit to what is the easiest of haircuts. they look on the left side. they look on the right. a little clip/buzz here, a little there. it's above my pay grade, the entire process, but I love it. the latest time, my barber brought out the scissors and was doing random snips of my Homer Simpson-style hair after the buzz cut. that's awesome. now, for those of us who are buzz cut people, why come here instead of Great Clips, say? 1. appointment times. they are always met in my experience. you will be in and out within 30 minutes (actually less). 2. you won't get a crap haircut. again, I'm not a haircut connoisseur, but even I've noticed I've had bad HCs at Great Clips. never here. 3. ambiance. this is just a damn cool barbershop. nice couch to sit on while you're waiting, and they have a gigantic Tv. I went to a place in San Francisco once that had a full bar while you're waiting, and if I could suggest anything to Assembly, it is you need a full bar. 4. dogs. I haven't seen Gus the Frenchie lately, but one barber has a Pitbull he brings in who is a sweetheart. 5. it's the true barbershop experience. I had a haircut around lunch time once, and one barber announces, "you guys want sandwiches?" 2 of the 3 other barbers say yes. he makes a phone call, "yeah, me at Assembly, we need 3. will be there in 10," and hangs up. who does this?!? I want to be that way. 6. price. for a buzz cut at least, the premium over Great Clips is like five bucks. tl;dr. it's a great barbershop. read more

It was assymetrical, not blended well, the guy had cut a 'hole' on one side, and I had to use scissors at home to even it out the best I could ... This was not worth $50. It's difficult to comment on progress if the whole time you are turned away from the mirror... Maybe I was unlucky with that particular barber who kinda looked like a blunt instrument. read more

I recently had to change barbershops, and I'm so glad I got recommended this place. It is absolutely everything I've been looking for. The shop itself is incredible. It's large, spacious, and meticulously curated. The atmosphere is perfect, the barbers are are all friendly & talkative. Plus, who doesn't love a super cute shop dog? It is really hard for me to trust people with my longer beard, and I have been having anxiety about finding someone to cut it for a while now. I was getting tired of rocking the Ol' Prospector look, and really needed a change. In comes Bryan. Bryan is an artisan, and is definitely a genius in his trade. I can honestly say this was the best beard trim I've ever had. My anxiety was eased by his comfort in what he does. He moved his clippers with such confidence and poise. Bryan a perfectionist who has really mastered his craft. He even went above and beyond by cleaning my neck up without me asking. If you're in the area, I HIGHLY recommend switching to Assembly Barbershop (especially if you have a larger beard). The parking is abundant, and the area is easy to get to. I visited during phase 1.5 of covid-recovery and they were consummate professionals. Instructions clearly printed on the front door, they've worked out a solid system for cleanliness that made me feel that both customer and professional were as safe as possible. The Space: Holy shit. Probably the coolest barbershop I've ever seen. The craftsmanship looks top notch and I could spend hours admiring all of the pieces on the walls. You can tell a lot of time and effort was spent into making the space their own, and it works. It says to me these are folks that take a lot of pride in what they do and the results will be reflected in how you look walking out the door. The Barber: Andrew killed it. I've been a customer of Bryan's since I first moved here to Seattle. I got my hair cut by my wife's hair stylist (who was wayy too expensive and didn't specialize in my hair style) who recommended I visit Bryan because he would do a better job cutting my hair. It's always a GREAT sign when you get a recommendation from another person in the industry. 3 weeks later, I visited Bryan and it's been history ever since. After every visit to Bryan, I know I'll be leaving with a fresh cut. To those hesitant to get a cut because of COVID (believe me I was in the same boat as you), Assembly does a great job cleaning surfaces after ever visit. They are requiring face masks for everyone that visits and are limiting the number of people allowed into the shop.
