Great work ethic on a talented guy! Found him after seeing someone at a game with a hawk on the back of their head. I called Stu after searching on Yelp for a barber who could do my undercut right. He talked me through what the process would entail (as I'd never had an undercut prior to this one). I booked an appointment for a week later and ta-da! I couldn't be happier with my first undercut - I have a ton of hair and it is really weighed down at the back usually. Now it is lighter, and I have a cool design to wear with pride. I'll be the first to admit stu is a great barber. I went to him once and got a great haircut. I set an appt for the second time and on my to him there was an accident on the freeway, so I called him 10 minutes before while on the way and said my gps says I will arrive 20 minutes late. He understood and was chill about it. When I tried to reschedule a week later, he tried to charge me 45 dollar cancellation fee before letting me come in for another haircut. I understand a cancellation fee of 5-10$ but to charge full price PLUS TIP is just bad business. Back on my barber search. Review update/response to owner: My review was never taken down for any guideline issue and it was never re-written, as you can see by the date from over a year ago. I absolutely did not call 20 min after my scheduled appt. I called OTW 10 min before my scheduled appt and told you that there is stand still traffic on I5 and that I would be 20 min late. You couldn't wait, and I understood. But to then try and rip me off by saying I'd have to pay for the appt I missed because you could have scheduled another appt is obscured. I would have been willing to pay a cancellation fee but to try to charge me 45$ for a haircut you didn't give is robbery. Just wanted to give an update to this review since it's been ages. Been going to Stu for 3 years now since moving to Seattle from Philly. Still the best barber I've found specifically for what I need (skin tight fade and a beard line-up). Hilarious stories - always a good conversation. I trust no one else with my hair at this point. I've also told so many of my friends and colleagues to go to him - all of which have always been ecstatic about their cuts. Saw some comments from others on cost. Is he pricey? To be honest... you can say that. But I genuinely think he's competitive with the downtown Seattle market and also can charge what he does because not many people can do what he does (at least in my experience, and I've sat in a lot of barber seats). I'm someone who I'm very particular about who cuts my hair and the quality of the cut, fade, edge, etc. Stu hits the perfect mark every time, whether you want a fade, a special design or something simple he can do it all. Stu the Butcher. Earlier today I had a long glorious beard. In the matter of minutes, a years worth of patience wasted. Asked for my beard to be trimmed, just enough that it would be symmetrical. Expecting a hair or two to be trimmed here and there. This process was undergone, but then the clippers came out. I should have put a stop there, but figured there was some areas growing faster than others and was like OK I guess I need this. After looking in the mirror, my beard was several inches shorter than when I first entered! I wasn't too happy with the length as it didn't go along with my handle bar mustache. All I wanted was a small trim. Still wanting the beard, I asked for my mustache to be trimmed to the lip. I was expecting the outcome to be a walrus like mustache trimmed to the bottom of the lip but got a pencil thin trim to the upper lip. At this point I had a medium sized beard and a small creeper mustache. The styles didn't match. My wife hated the new look. I hated the new look. I've never looked worse after a haircut. I asked for the beard to be faded into my long hair and cut down to small beard status after this. I was told that i would have to pay extra for his time, despite my beard being just murdered. I opted to go home and shave it all off. I'm still left with my long hair, but Stu had placed this hard line on the back of my neck. So when putting my hair in a bun it looks weird AF. Stu had claimed that there was a miscommunication, but after seeing the hard line on the back of my neck and one thing after another, I am convinced he doesn't know how to cut long beards and hair. I look like one weird MF right now. Just to say the least, Without being vulgar, I am flooded with a lot of mixed emotions right now. I'll never go back to Stu again. I would give 0 stars if this app would let me This was my third and final time with Stu. Long story short, I looked like Grizzly Adams going into this shop, left looking like a goon. I'm pretty picky with my hair, and I know my hair type and head shape are trickier than most to use clippers on. It's clear that Stu is very talented at cutting hair. We all find our guy that just gets it & knows his craft. I'd been going to the same barber for 8 years as he was a pro at a straight razor fade, but due to a new endeavor his availability was erratic and hard to schedule. On a chance as I couldn't wait any longer for a cut from my guy, I went in and that's when I stumbled upon Stu. It's been a year almost and I've never been back to my previous barber. Stu is extremely skilled at his craft & my fades have never been tighter.
