The place looks nice and the location is quite convenient, but they don't know how to cut hair. They are great at talking, though; the hairdressers are nice and talkative, but usually one does not go to a barbershop just to have nice conversations. Last week (July 3rd) I got a horrible haircut which looked like I tried to cut my own hair. They just increased their rates to $50 for a signature haircut. The back of my hair was absolutely uneven and the hair stylist didn't say anything about it. She didn't show me the back of my head on the mirror after the haircut was complete (and I completely forgot to ask to see it). I came to see it a few hours later when my friends started making fun of my haircut. I had to spend the 4th of July with a baseball hat to cover the mess those guys did in my hair. It was not the first time I got a sloppy haircut there, but this time it was so egregious that not only they lost me as a customer, but also deserve this one star review, so people can be aware of the quality of the service they may get there. read more

I have a barber that takes care of my beard back at home, but am on the road for business for about a month and needed a trim. So, I scheduled an appointment with Ashley. Everything looked okay in the beginning until I realized that they employ mostly "cosmetologists" and not real barbers. Still, I went forward based on the 5-star reviews. The beard trim went fine until about 75% of the way through, when I think I hear a little extra cutting (like an inadvertent slip of the clippers) while she's touching up the left side burn. She didn't say anything about it, and I couldn't see any problems from my angle. So, I let it go. I paid out, and walked back to my hotel, where I got a closer look in the mirror. It's then that I realize that my initial instinct was correct - there was, in fact, a huge notch out of the left side of my beard! I totally understand that accidents happen, but the fact that she didn't say a word, took my money, and sent me on my way after this mistake is really unacceptable. This wasn't a mistake that she didn't realize. It was obvious from every angle except from straight on in the mirror. I wish I'd inspected more closely before I left the store. Potential clients beware: this is not a real barbershop. As so many are today, this is just a salon catering to men. There is one person who does straight razor shaves, and she only works during the week. If you're looking for a real barber, look elsewhere. read more

I've received a great cut each time, so they are hiring the right staff. Prices are average for a decent men's cut. They carry Jack Black and other products if you need something for home. I saw CeCe here for exactly one year. She was probably the best barber (hairdresser?) I've ever had. From the first haircut to the last, I never walked out of that place unsatisfied with the way my hair looked. Her attention to detail was always on point. She takes notes so she remembers exactly what you requested the time before, and she updates those notes. She's also just pleasant to talk to. BTW the girls here also do a straight razor neck shave which is faaaantastic. Ultimately I left Simone David because it got too expensive. For most of the year I was paying $45 per haircut (plus a 20% tip). That's $54 for a haircut. In August I found out the price was being raised to $50 per haircut. Now I can afford this price, but at some point it just seems ridiculous to pay that much for a 30 minute haircut. I probably won't be able to find someone as good as CeCe in the city for a lot less, but I'm not particular enough about my hair to justify the difference in cost. I'm still giving the place 5 stars because they do a fantastic job. If you're comfortable paying that much you'd be hard pressed to find a better establishment or a better barber/haircutterperson than CeCe. read more

Ashley is my preferred stylist and does a fantastic job! My wife declared my first haircut here to be the best I ever had - that's a mighty tall compliment and I would agree. She made notes on exactly what she did for my cut so I can just walk in now without needed to give instructions. They also provide a variety of other add-on services. This is one of the few places where you can actually get a shave as well. I'm sure the other stylists are just as good, but I'll pick my day based on Ashley's schedule. read more

This place is waaaaayyyyy too expensive. My bf went here today because his usual barber didn't have any openings. He paid $100 ($90 +10 tip) on a haircut, brow and beard trim. The picture he showed the barber had a skin fade, which he did not receive. His brow wax is subpar, there's still a lot of hair left. He even asked me to pluck his brows for him when we get home. He also got his beard done which was trimmed but NOT cleaned up. His last haircut from his usual barber was $30 and he also tips another $30 because knows what a good haircut is worth. I've worked in a salon my whole life because my mom owns one in another state and I just want to say this haircut was NOT worth $90. read more

She's amazing, has a great sense of humor, is very customer service focused and is passionate about doing the best job, every time. I've been coming here for over a year now and j absolutely love the place as well as my stylist Heather! She's amazing at her job and we always have fun stories to share. It's hard to find good and personable service professionals in the city so I feel pretty lucky. The booking system that they use is phenomenal -- I really wish more places implemented something like it. Oh, and they found a shampoo for me that was exactly what I needed and handles my hair needs like nothing before -- without a markup and without some sort of sketchy "store brand". Simone David (formerly Capelli's at City Center) is a wonderful barber-shop experience. You get friendly, actual barbers who listen well and provide excellent service. Clippers, scissors, and straight razors are all wielded by professionals who listen to you and give you the look you are aiming for. 42 bucks gets you the Signature Haircut, which is a shampoo/scalp massage, cut, hot towel, and straight-razor neck shave. Atmosphere is professional salon meets mancave meets sports bar. They are still rebranding and getting their online system set up and running after a split from Capelli's, but the service is tip-top, and definitely worth trying. Use the phone for now, and the online system once it's at 100%. read more
