I've been going to Paul for years. I'm always impressed with his attention to detail. I've never had a bad haircut from The Lounging Barber. A great neighborhood spot. read more

I booked an appointment online, explaining that I have a large bald spot from radiation treatment. The appointment was very easy to make. After Paul sat me down, he checked out the area and asked question after question, making sure he understood what I wanted. I knew he was going to nail the cut from that alone, and that ended up being the case. But in addition to his great work--Paul is truly an expert barber--I could also see he's a wonderful human being. He's warm and kind, and a great story teller. I look forward to my next cut. Thanks, Paul, for a great experience. read more

Paul runs a smooth operation- easy to book online, all payment options are available and he's very COVID safe. Masks on, hand sanitizer ready, 1 at a time customer experience. He's also an awesome barber. He's got the skills and knows how to read you. You want a rich conversation- yeah he's ready- or if you need to lounge, he's got you. 5/5 read more

I just had the worst experience I ever had with a barber. I have been a customer of Paul's for over a year as has my son. When I get my haircut I'm not fussy. I ask the barber to take off a few inches or I say I'd like it cut to just over my ears. Every barber I've ever patronized has done a great job understanding my request. In the past, Paul has seemed slighly annoyed if I don't give him more specific instructions. Or if I can't remember the cut he gave me last time and can't tell him whether I want my hair tapered or not (for example). But he was incredibly rude this time and annoyed with me. He cut my hair but did so in a rushed, even angry manner. After I paid him and left a tip, he told me I "disrespected" him by not being able to tell him what cut I wanted. I never said a word to him that was in any way disrespectful. He was the one who was angry, not me. When I heard the word "disrespect," I knew it was not productive to continue the conversaton. I told him I was done and turned around to go when he added, "Oh that's good because I was going to tell you not to come back." Then he let out this strange laugh like he was pleased with himself. It was mean-spirited and uncalled for. I've never had anyone in any commercial setting ever tell me not to come back to their store. I wish no one to be treated the way he treated me. read more

Paul is the best barber in the country! My husband has been gone to few barbershops around the country as we are an avid traveler. This one is definitely the best and expert! If you ever come to Seattle, make sure to come to his place and don't forget to make appointment in advance through their website. You will never ever regret it with his service. Thank you Paul. You are the best ever and ever! read more

Still going to see Paul every few weeks. Always a great haircut. I just started having him trim my beard. Paul's attention to detail is top notch. read more

Have had plenty of bad haircuts in my 6 years in Seattle, so I was very happy to discover Paul and The Lounging Barber. As others have said, Paul is super Covid safe. It's a single chair shop with a great vibe...ESPN and some chill tunes going when I was there last. The haircut itself is second to none. Give him some good direction on what you want and he will deliver. read more

HANDS DOWN! The best barber in Seattle. Paul & Eric cut at a level that in my opinion, simply can't be achieved by the competition. Professional, available, and none of the hood rich ratchet behavior you'll find at other shops. It's appointment only on the weekend, so prepare accordingly, and don't get mad when you can't walk up & sit in a chair! 7 years strong with PG...And the reason is simple. These guy's know how to GET IT DONE RIGHT! read more

Paul Gray just gave me a great look at a fair price. He seems to have great attention to detail, and takes great pride in his work. I have a pretty standard "white middle-aged hipster" haircut, which has been pretty thoroughly butchered by a few places around town. I'd like to think I have high standards. Paul absolutely exceeded my expectations - AND was able to squeeze me in as a walk-in. I'll be back! read more

Paul is always charming, fun AND on time! Great styling- Barber Lounge is always clean, bright and cheerful. I've had many great and stimulating conversations with fellow customers and visitors. Passer-byers wave from the window and often come inside just to chat. It is a warm friendly place read more

Paul delivers every time. He cuts a mean head of hair, and his place has an atmosphere that I look forward to spending time in. Five stars isn't enough for this business. read more

Paul was great. Usually I get my haircut near my office, but COVID helped me realize Paul is in the neighborhood. I showed up without my mask (doh!) and had to run quickly home to get it. Paul was patient, waited until I returned, and gave me a great haircut. I love having an excellent neighborhood barber. Thanks, Paul! read more

Just tried this place for the first time, and I have to say it's the best clipper cut I've had in Seattle. Stalin Harrison did an amazing job (yes, his name really is Stalin). On Mondays, a clipper cut is only $13 - cheaper than most places in town. Can't say good or bad about other types of hair cuts, but for what I needed - outstanding. read more

Dope artist in here, ol skool quality hair maintance not that fast out the chair and snatch your money babershop

Paul was very rude from when we walked in and during the haircut. At the end he became somewhat friendlier. Won't be going back

Great spot and the MAIN thing I like is no CP time!. The guy Eric and Paul are professional and they also make for great conversation. The place is a nice little hub in the Madrona area. Schedule in advance cause these cats are good! They stay booked. read more

Best cut I have ever had. I drove 12 hours to find a barber and Paul exceeded my expectations. Friendly atmosphere and fair prices. Cannot go wrong! read more

Today was my first time visiting Paul's barbershop... and I was blown away. First, I should mention I have difficult hair and high standards. I sat down, took my glasses off, and put my full trust in Paul, and he did not disappoint. His work was immaculate, not a hair out of place. Not only was Paul fantastic but so was the overall vibe of his shop. The shop is small and personal, with a very laid back feel. There was a basketball game playing on a large TV, and a gentleman hanging out reading. I could not have felt more relaxed. I moved to Seattle 5 months ago and have struggled my way through many disappointing haircuts. Paul's operation stands head and shoulders above surrounding barbershops. As of today I have standing appointments with Paul and I greatly look forward to my next visit. I would strongly recommend this establishment to anyone and everyone. read more

Terrific haircut for a reasonable price. Paul was thorough and a great conversationalist. 5/5 stars for the overall experience, definitely recommended! read more

After having locs for over 7 years, I decided to cut them in very short notice. Paul Gray was one call away, and was able to facilitate that. Wet important moment in my life. Since I haven't had a haircut in years, he was able to hook me up and suggest tips for getting right! Not only is he a master barber, but I also was able to have engaging conversations about many similar interests. I'm looking forward to booking an appointment online for next week, and going forward in the future - Grateful Client. read more

I called to make an appointment and was greeted with attitude. I was excited to try the place but the employee who picked up the phone acted like my call was a major inconvenience and my questions were an annoyance. With so many other good shops in the city, I would not recommend the place based on this experience. I'll stick with Acme on cap hill. read more

I am glad to see this man is still getting it done. I remember this Shop when it was still Gene and Calvins Barbershop when I was a kid. when Paul took over in 2000 in knew that this was going to be the place to be, so glad I got to get in there back in my Garfield days and my college years at UW. Keep up the good work. read more
