I've been eating at this restaurant over the past several years. Every time I've come back the food is just as good if not even better. The owner and manager of the restaurant is absolutely wonderful. The staff have been very nice and the quality of the food has only improved over the years. If you're into American style food such as burgers fries hot dogs Gyros and many others, this is definitely a place worth eating at. Also their shakes are great. I'm from out of town and went there on a recommendation. I started my order with a small Greek salad. The bald man said we don't have a small Greek salad. I mentioned that it's on the menu and he said you have to order the whole dinner. I just want to say how ridiculous that is. I was also going to order other things. But I walked away and went to another Greek place that was close by where I got my small Greek salad, delicious roasted potatoes and souvlaki. I have now recommended that place to my friends. Finally made my way in for a beef hot dipped. I forgot how good they are, and a terrific price. Under $20 as a meal with a cup of cheese. Their cheese is better than most. Just the right amount of heat from the giardiniera. There's the slightest tingling of the lips. Service is prompt and polite. Cozy benches and a bright dining room, good for groups. Typical hot dog / hamburger / pita place. I wanted to love it, but I didn't. I got the gyro sandwich and while I liked the meat - there was barely (and I mean barely) any sauce on it and the pita was a tad stale / hard. My husband got the chicken kabob sandwich and loved it. I heard the Greek Salad here was great so we visited. $10 for a decent sized bowl of greens with big cubes of Feta (wish they would have crumbled them), lots of olives and anchovies. It was eh, just okay. Hubbie ordered the ribeye steak sandwich. Good bread. It was a delicious sandwich but not worth $18. That was the cost was for the sandwich only... No fries or drink. Other things to note. You order at a counter, take a seat, and pick up the food when your number is called. No servers... Although when you pay, you will be ask if you want to tip. John (owner) and his staff are friendly and serve tasty food. The beef/sausage condo and gyros (w/ tzatziki, onions and tomato) are my 'go to' foods. Stopped in for a simple hot dog and fries, the hot dog wasn't warm and was rubbery, bun was on the cusp of being stale and definitely not a steamed bun. Fries were decent. Overall a terrible hot dog and they are supposedly in the Vienna Hot Dog hall of fame!?!? Whaat? $15 for two hot dogs and a small fountain drink also. No thank you. I was in there at noon. Best gyros hands down!!! Pita bread is soft, the gyros meat is tasty, the usual tomato, onions and tzatziki sauce!

Solid consistent neighborhood spot! Friendly service and tasty eats. I've tried a variety of items on the menu and have not been disappointed. Soups are flavorful and hearty. Kabobs are flavorful, beef is tasty, pizza puff is always fried well. Fries are always awesome! Crisp and addictive! I saw a post on Facebook about Eagle Restaurant, and it intrigued me. So I downloaded their menu and checked it out. It looked to me a good place to get a burger and some soup. Me and the missus headed over for lunch. At first glance, it looked like your typical mom & pop eatery. But that's where the similarity ends. You are greeted by a friendly staff member, and gave a recommendation for the soup. But of course, we wanted some, for it was my wife's favorite: cream of chicken rice. And we both had the bacon cheeseburger, fries, and soda pop. The soup was really tasty, just as a cream of chicken rice soup should be. Our burgers and fries were served on real plates, now that's real class. And I noticed someone else had a salad and it was served in a real bowl. The bacon cheeseburger was tasty. Meaty, fresh garnish, crispy bacon. On a fresh bun. The fries were cut with the skins on, and cooked to a perfect crispy crunch. This place is overall a great homey eatery with quality, delicious food, and a classy presentation. I recommend you give it a try. read more

This place is within walking distance of my home, so it's a good thing I like it. LOL Their gyro meat is amazing and that is pretty much what I have each time I am there. My husband is a little more adventurous and he has tried most everything they offer and has yet to find anything that is "bad". The place seems to always be clean, even when they are really busy. The staff does a great job of staying on top of their cleaning. I adore that the TV is always on and usually on a spots program, sometimes baseball, sometimes football and occasionally wrestling. Definitely casual dining. Their only draw back is it's a Pepsi shop and I am a Coke person, but I have taken to drinking other options than my usual Diet Pepsi. Prices are decent and lots of free & handy parking in their private lot. Bonus! read more

They have the best Chicago dog I've had yet. The relish is perfect, not sweet like Portillos. Their fries are skinny, which aren't my fave, but as skinny fries go they're excellent. As my favorite Gyros joint closed down this last spring - I have been in search of a new one. Finally after going from west Chicago to Darien - I have found a new favorite. The pita was stacked high with meat the tzatziki was tasty and not runny - full of garlic and cucumber flavor. In addition - the price makes me feel pre inflation. First time ordering from Eagle. They are obviously a small business to support! They've been on the corner of Fairview and Maple for as long as we've lived nearby (20 years!--maybe?) but we just didn't utilize them! Had giros sandwiches and fried grooms and all were tasty! Fast turnaround when calling--10 minutes! When I ordered Baklava I was sadly told "we don't have Baklava anymore" ... "No?" "No, not for awhile now " which made me ask "why?" Wow! I can't believe I never reviewed Eagle Restaurant considering my father introduced me to this place over 19 years ago. I was the 2 Hot Dog special with fries kind of kid growing up and that special is still around today. Burgers are phenomenal and off the char-broiler the way they should be. Homemade sweet peppers is a must when ordering their homemade Italian Beef. I have been here in the mornings when the homemade soup's aroma fills the place...yummy! If you spend $5 or more on a sandwich you can order a beer for $1.99 on draft. As most of the reviewers have mentioned, this is a very clean establishment. read more

This place is an okay spot for lunch. A little pricey, good, fresh, hot food, but I didn't feel it was anything special. The Eagle serves your typical Greek lunch items, gyros, pitas, etc., and also has hotdogs/hamburgers. There are many of these kinds of joints around the Chicagoland area, and especially in the Western Suburbs. I got the chicken pita and fries which was about $8. The pita came with lettuce and tomato. There was a decent amount of chicken, but it was so dry! It was like something my sister left in the oven too long! The fries were pretty disappointing; there were skinny and not much flavor to them. I prefer the fat cut fresh steak fries that you get at some of the other Greek grills. Overall, I felt I paid too much for food that was unimpressive, and I wished I would have just eaten at home. read more

I have eaten at the Eagle several times and have never had bad service or bad a bad meal. The recently renovated bathrooms, dining area, and outside parking area give the Eagle a classier look as compared to many similar establishments. The new sign on the building gives it a more established feel as opposed to the old sign which has been removed. One of the daily specials today was the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich with homemade soup for $5.69. The BPT sandwich was good but not enough to make it one of my "definitely get it" recommendations. Although the vegetable soup was a little spicier than I would expect, it was delicious and had the perfect amount of vegetables to liquid ratio for those who prefer their soup to have more than just water (as I do). I definitely recommend it. On previous visits I have enjoyed the Vienna beef hot dogs with NO KETCHUP and all the good stuff. The polish sausage has been good as well. The TV was located so that it could be viewed in the main dining area, but other seating is available including a small outside patio area (in season) for a quieter ambiance. It is in an easily accessed area at Maple Avenue and Fairview Avenue near the Fairview Avenue METRA stop. I have recommended the Eagle to family/friends. Clean facility but the food is over priced frozen food that someone else is preparing for you. It is very much like the food you could get at a bowling ally or roller skating rink.
