They gave me a lot of sweet peppers and meat. I had it dipped. The meat was juicy and tender. I could have eaten two of these but I wasn't sure how big it was. I also got a chili cheese dog. It was good but not as memorable as the beef. I would have to come back and try the cheesy Italian beef and Italian sausage. They have one single person restroom and a good amount of seats. We came to the Darien area for some medical related stuff and needed some lunch. I wanted to try something that wasn't a chain (there's plenty of it in the area!) so we ended up at Teddy's. My boyfriend and I were greeted by a young guy at the counter and an older man, who I can only assume was the owner. We both got cheesy italian beef sandwiches and split a jumbo cheese fry. I'm not too crazy about italian beef (especially the soggy bread) but my sandwich was loaded with meat!! The mozzarella cheese under the meat was tasty too. Fries are crinkle cut and the cheese is pretty standard cheese sauce. Our two sandwiches, fries, and drinks came to $33. Good food, reasonable prices, and I'm glad we came here instead of a chain fast food place. read more

It's always frustrating when a simple mistake that can be corrected is ignored. An order of large fries was missed - not a big deal at first. Instead of the fries we were given an extra cheeseburger. After sitting down to eat away from the restaurant. we realized the mistake but were in relatively close distance to walk and return and ask for the missing piece of the order and brought the cheeseburger back in good faith knowing full well they could not take it back. Bad idea. Instead I was told I should have brought the bag it came in along with the other bags of food that I had left with my group to prove the fries were not included in the order. Simply put, I took the cheeseburger, said my piece to no avail and as a long time resident will choose to order elsewhere going forward. I come here all the time. I've been coming here since 2005. I can't believe I've never left a review. I love their food. I usually get their Italian combo with fries, but I've never had a bad meal here in 15 years. This is one of those places where, if you don't eat here for a couple weeks, you get that craving to return. Food comes out fast, tastes great, and the staff are always pleasant. Teddy's Red Hots is a brightly lit hot dog joint located off of Plainfield Road in Darien. The parking lot was busy and the inside is fairly clean with a decent sized menu of items to order. I'm unsure if this place is related to the Teddy's Red Hots in Downers Grove but I decided to stop in and try out their food. I went for the hot dog. The hot dog I received came on a regular non-poppy seed bun. The bun had hard edges and showed signs of dryness. The hot dog itself was longer than the bun which is kind of unusual. The pickle included was a bit on the sour side and a tad too thick. The tomato slices were also a bit on the thick side and I had to reassemble my dog to get all of the components to stay on. The application of the mustard, relish and onions were fine. This hot dog while tasting alright combined two of my biggest pet peeves with Chicago Style Hot Dogs. This hot dog was guilty of having a hard and dry hot dog bun being the first sin, and a pickle slice that was too thick. The fact that this came from a place that specializes in hot dogs, it's surprising for them to be serving a bun in that condition. Needless to say it really hurt the score on this hot dog. The hot dog overall didn't taste bad, it simply didn't have the right texture. read more
