I had a really great experience here. It's been about four years since I've been back to Little Joe's, and nothing has changed. It's still just as good as always. I'm back in town for work and, even though I'm in the area often, I just haven't made it back here. Now I wish I had come sooner. Instead of my usual beef sandwich, I went with a cheeseburger, and it was insanely good. The burgers are cooked over an open flame, the fries were perfectly done, and the folks working there were incredibly friendly. I'm already looking forward to coming back. And I have to add that I'm usually not big on toppings, but the lettuce, onions, and pickles were crisp, fresh, and delicious. They really made the burger. read more

I ought to do a series on places I give a second chance and regret. Here is my tiny veal Parmesan sandwich (apple for scale, no banana available) Ordered extra peppers, got a very scant amount, well I guess it's better the missing items from previous order. Now as much as Portillo's has disappointed me since they sold out, they still give a decent amount for the price plus add on's. And they don't over charge for a simple tamale like this place does. You can see by the dimensions of the veal in the sandwich that it only added "some" meat flavor., same for the sauce and cheese. I basically ordered a small flavored bread sandwich. My husband had a craving for a beef sandwich and asked AI for a local recommendation. Little Joes came up and we saw some of the tv coverage so decided to try it. We walked in and were welcomed, the staff is very nice. It feels family owned and friendly. The actual space was clean and the separate dining area is a good size. I have tried the beef which is very good and the burgers are pretty good but I always seem to fall back on the Hot Dogs. If I could leave this place no stars I would. The lady working the register was nice. The place seemed was cleaned. My issue was the food. We ordered a bbq bacon burger and double hamburger. First, both hamburgers patties tasted as though they don't clean the grill, and the meat was way over cooked. Secondly, the bacon burger did not look appetizing at all it was thrown together. There was literally one piece of bacon-thank goodness it was thick cut-.They dumped bbq sauce all over it. I'm not sure what kind of oil they used to fry the French fries but even those tastes bad. I worked in Countryside from 2006-2008 and ate lunch frequently at Little Joe's. Their Italian beef is in my top ten favorites, and what's ironic, another "similar" restaurant less than a mile away served the worst Italian beef I ever ate. Back to Little Joe's, not only is their Italian beef one of the tastiest, and the sides excellent, the woman who's now the manager (possibly owner?) is one of the sweetest persons in the fast-food industry I've ever met. I dropped in at Little Joe's just a few months ago, and not only was the Italian beef still excellent (remaining in my top ten faves), but the manager/owner remembered me, and asked where I had been! I apologized for not dining sooner, but life sort of got in the way. I changed jobs and didn't have the opportunity to visit. I am planning on dining there again soon, and more frequently. read more

I was not very impressed with Little Joes. I ordered their Italian beef combo and a Chicago dog. The sausage was very tasty and saved the sandwich as the beef didn't have much flavor. I was not impressed with their giardiniera either. However their Chicago style hot dog was even worse. I feel like a true Chicago style hot dog has to look like it taste amazing and then all of its ingredients beautifully placed in the bun. This was not the case here.
