Absolutely the best Italian Ice in the whole world. It's simply amazing. Beef is great too. I love this place. Can't be beat.

So it's about time I reviewed this place and I feel bad because I should of done it a long time ago. This place has been there for at least 20+ years, so they must be doing something right. I've been coming to this place ever since I can remember so honestly I can say I've had everything on their menu, besides some of the new items they added recently. I'll highlight my favorites Hot Dogs: All beef hot dogs, which I believe are Vienna Beef brand. Steamed buns, always consistent, never disappointing. All the fixings always tasted fresh too. Italian Beef - I'll admit, it's been a while since I've had a plain one, I usually have my with cheese (Mozzarella). I would rank their beef above Portillo's and Buona. Chicken Sandwiches: In a previous review, someone mentioned that they don't have a grill, I have a feeling this person must be blind because you can't miss it when you place your order, it's directly behind the counter. I love this sandwich because they marinate the chicken and then grill it, served on a wheat bun with mayo, L&T. Italian Ice: It must be homemade and I haven't found any better, even on Taylor St. Love the chunks of lemon you find from time to time. Good hotdogs. Outstanding fries. Great Italian ice. But $13.00 for the above listed meal is too far-fetched. Yes you get what you pay for. But "$ double digits" and "hot dog meal" shouldn't be in the same sentence. I would definitely come back if they lower the prices a little bit. read more

I've been driving past this place every Monday when I take my dog to obedience class. It looked awesome from the outside so I decided to stop in one night and give it a try. The service sucked. I stepped up to order and the woman behind the counter looked like she couldn't be bothered with me. I'm not a fussy customer, I know how awful the public can be. All I did was place an order with no special requests either and I got a ton of attitude. Even when I gave her my credit card, she gave me a shitty look back. It made for a very awkward couple minutes as my hot dogs were being made. The food itself was meh. I love hot dogs but nothing here set them apart from anywhere else I have visited. Grew up going here and can't stop, won't stop, get it, get it. Teddy's is solid. And their dogs are great. Their beef is good. And the Italian ice is the best around. If you're around durning lent do yourself a huge favor and stop in for an egg and pepper sandwich you will not be disappointed. And if I needed any more selling points let me say this, where can you still get a fountain red cream soda? Teddy's that where. Another place I tried thanks to Groupon. I use to live in this 'hood 10 months ago and passed this place all the time. Believe it or not I'd always choose McDonalds instead. Hamburger -- one of the best I have ever had. Probably the best (I have been giving that title out a lot lately, lol). I also had the cheese fries. I kind of wished I got the jumbo with cheese. I will go back again!! Yum! The guy who ran the register while I was there seemed indifferent but he acted that way to everyone. But the guy who handed me the food was very sweet. Just a warning, if you buy fries when the place isn't busy your likely to get refried fries that have been sitting for a while, taste like crap, had to throw away, and not cheap. Starting to happen too frequently. Too bad never use to be that way, don't know what changed. read more

Stopped in this place for a quick hot dog. Service was quick and friendly. However, I was disappointed in my order. I asked for the dog with everything-BUTdid not get sport peppers or celery salt and the bun? It didn't have poppy seeds. I realize I'm in Darien and thats not Chicago .But since Darien is a suburb of Chicago you would think they would know how to serve are Chicago dog?? The Chicago style hot dogs are delicious, and I especially enjoy the Italian ice, which is available in both lemon and strawberry. My dad and I often visit for a quick lunch or dinner, and it is always amazing, with fast service and great food. read more

This is one of those Chicagoland hot dog joints with burgers, beef and dogs. It really depends on your taste, as with most neighborhood establishments, this is good but nothing crazy. Prices are average and combos don't include drinks. 100% better than the local fast food and cooked to order. This little hot dog place is for the serious hot dog enthusiasts. The buns are steamed to perfection and the hot dogs, the finest quality and a wonderful assortment of different toppings available. We've been eating here since mid 2018. I call it a diamond in the rough, because I knew it was there, but never tried it. Glad I did! Except for their prices, I enjoy eating at this Teddy's. Their Italian beef is on my top five of favorites! They make their own, slice it fresh daily, and have a scrumptious au jus to die for! The sandwich is piled high and thick with meat, and if you ask for it dry, it's DRY! Not like Portillo's; If you ask for it dry, they dip it anyway. I always get a side or two of au jus at Teddy's, and don't get charged extra. French fries were very hot, crispy on the outside, and very tender inside. I get a tamale, which is always hot, and fresh. They make their own Italian ice, with chunks of pieces of fruit, which I love! Average amount I spend is $25-$35 for myself and my wife. As I mentioned earlier, they are a little on the high side, but worth it for the quality you get served. The owner is very friendly, however, if he's not around, the hired help are robots. Still get my order right which is all that matters. I definitely love their Italian beef hands down over Portillo's. read more

This is my favorite Italian Beef sandwich... without a doubt. Not too rich, lots of beef flavor, and mildly spicy. The Italian sausage is good too, but be sure to ask for it fresh... sometimes they have them a bit dried out from sitting for a while. Poorest hot dog EVER! Dry, stale bun (not steamed - no poppy seeds), incredibly mediocre hot dog - lacking flavor, small smear of mustard, very little relish or onion, crudely cut cuke (almost as big as the hot dog) and tomato slices (very under ripe and again bland). Dropped in for lunch. Had a single red hot, fries, dipped cheesy Italian beef (with hot peppers) and a beverage. The red hot was a bit heavy on mustard but no other complaints on it. They have red cream soda which was tasty! The Italian beef was very tasty, they have thyme in it and I dont like thyme. Been watching what I eat, but had a Groupon to use for this place and didn't want to let it go to waste. I had the chicken sandwich and it was great. Grilled lean breast on a whole wheat bun, very tasty. According to my kids the dogs were great and the fries were good. I'll stop by again if I'm in the area and the kids want some dogs and I can still get something reasonably healthy. read more
